We came here for dinner the other night. Good atmosphere and vibes. Service was good. Drinks came out promptly. Lots of TV's. We ordered the Deluxe Pizza. I think next time I'll get a pizza with less ingredients. With all the ingredients, the pizza had to cook longer which made the crust a little burned on the bottom. It didn't have that burned taste though. The pizza was ok, not the best I've ever had. Dano's is my favorite pizza place in Columbia. It's so tasty it actually makes me crave pizza. I usually order pizza by the slice and they have a couple of crust options. You could go with the regular crust or you can opt for my favorite... the Sicilian. It's a bit thicker and the pieces are square. It's like the grown and sexy version of what you used to get on your elementary school lunch tray. You can also specify if you want a corner, edge or middle piece of pizza. I love the middle pieces... cheese and topping deliciousness all the way to the edges. Let's be honest - I'm pretty much ok with just a big pile of melty cheese with some pepperoni tossed on top. There is also a gourmet slice of the day so be sure to check that out. It's usually listed on the board outside the front door or you can just ask your waiter. It's a casual place. I'm giving this place 5 stars solely based upon the exceptional flavor of the pizza, albeit the amount of toppings are not as consistent as I'd like. Which, I guess is to be expected if a different person is making the pizza day in and day out. Ok folks!!! Was in Columbia, sc for my son's boot camp graduation! He loves PIZZA and it was rather difficult to find a pizza place. I used Yelp and thus seemed like the best place for normal pizza. We drove to this place and it was in town and looked nice. Staff was friendly. Place was clean and they had enough TVs for everyone to watch sports. We ordered half pepperoni and half cheese pizza and a whole sausage pizza. They came out piping hot....LOVE THAT!!! I really enjoyed these pizzas. The crust was so good. They are REALLY GOOD PIZZA. They haven't beat my champ but are in my top 10. We finished every slice. AWESOME JOB!!! read more

To say Danos is overwhelmed would be an understatement. Ordered online and given a time to pick up a carry out order. Arrived and waited over an hour and a half beyond the time given. Meanwhile, several customers walked up, ordered and received their orders. After several inquiries was told that they had incorrectly boxed several orders and mine was still being prepared. Closing in on 2 hours and order finally ready. No apologies offered. And, the pizza turned out to be COLD - but at least it was my order. Other options in Columbia. read more

We told the hostess that we have a party of 8 and lead us to the bar area. She let us put the tables and chair together. She didn't offer to help. Our waitress was attentive but I feel like she had so many tables. She didn't know much about beers on tap. APPITIZER #1: Garlic Bread with Cheese: Served with marinara on side. APPITIZER #2 Mac-N-Cheese Bites: just as it sounds Mac-n-cheese deep fried. PIZZA #1: Meat Lover Pizza: Pepperoni, sweet Italian sausage, smoked ham & crispy bacon, topped with mozzarella & romano cheese. PIZZA #2: BBQ Chicken Pizza: Chunks of breaded chicken breast over hickory smoked BBQ sauce, topped with mozzarella & romano cheese. I thought the food was great however using thin paper plates throws me off. I mean if you are going to use paper plates cool but make sure they fit the pizza. It's a restaurant not a cart off the street. PROS - outdoor seating - plenty of bar seating - plenty of restaurant seating CONS - we had to make our own table (we had a party of 8) - in the bar area they only used paper plates If by chance I was in the area, again I think I would show up but only if I didn't have anything else to choose from. My husband and I are big fans of NY-style pizza. Dano's is definitely the best in Columbia. My only complaint with the restaurant is they can't seem to get their shit together when it comes to online ordering. The app choice and service has changed 3-4 times in last few years. This is the best N.Y. style pizza in the Columbia area. The staff is always accommodating and friendly We usually go for lunch, it's a sports bar atmosphere. I was craving pizza so I ordered delivery. They made a mistake and fixed the order very quickly. Caprese salad was good, fried mushrooms were good, I love the horseradish sauce... but the pizza was just a bit meh. Deluxe has a lot of ingredients and we added mushrooms and spinach... there wasn't a lot of flavor in the sauce. Big complaint is when I added mushrooms it says "fresh mushrooms" on the menu and I got canned mushrooms. I hate canned mushrooms. Just slimy and flavorless. I like Dano's but will probably just go in and order instead of do delivery. And if you menu says fresh mushrooms please use fresh. read more

We came here excited to sit with our friends, the waitress was un-accommodating as well as unfriendly. She was verbally abuse to both me and my guests and did not want to serve us. Service was so so, the waiter was nice and respectful but our order was sold to someone else so my family and I had to wait over and hour for a pizza. It was going to be taken off the ticket so I waited, the family really wanted it. The pizza came and was blah, the cheese pizza by the slice was very dry. After everyone ate we got a bill which was still had a portion of the pizza on it. We got up to pay and let someone know to have it corrected. As I'm talking to a woman at the register a employee who was off sitting on a bench decided to pull out her phone and record my family as I respectfully waited to get my bill corrected. ABSOLUTELY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNCALLED FOR! After all said in done the server came out and got the bill corrected he was very nice. He game me my change (which was incorrect) and no receipt. At that point I was frustrated but refused to let that show in front of my children.... If you're a local I'm sure this isn't how they operate daily and I'm sure they have better service and the food is probably decent when it's not late. (I hope and guess). But if you're just passing thru don't waist your time. There are many other local restaurants to support that are consistently and hit. This was hit or miss and they definitely missed this night and unfortunately I feed my company pizza often and try to always buy local but this spot just won't be the spot for us. read more

Full disclosure: I am not from NY or Chicago, I have been to both of those fine cities and sampled their pizza variations. I am from "around the corner" near this place. Now then. How can anyone think this of all places is the best in Columbia? The Mellow? The Idiot? Nickitos? It reminds me of Dominos more than anything NY. Not the best, I'm saying. Sea of cheese on soggy tough crust. Tasteless and skimpy toppings. 2-star pizza. Calzones: cut one in half and get a puddle, a pond really, of cheese. Vegetables taste canned. Portions, generous. 2-stars Salads: these are pretty good and ample portions. Again, not the best. You can judge a pizza place by their salads (why does this work???) and things are best if you stick with the House Salad. Sandwiches and subs look good, but never had one. Don't see the point in buying Not Pizza at a pizza place. read more

The parking can be tough because it shares a lot with the grocery store, but it is worth it! They are fast and very pleasant. I would like to preface this review by saying that I did not care for Dano's when it was still next to Publix. However, I love the "new" Dano's. The service is incredible and efficient. The food is served hot, fresh, and delicious. My SO and I have been twice in one week. Our first visit was after St Pats in 5 points. We ordered the Calamari to start. It was fabulous! Then, my boo had a garden calzone and I ordered a pepperoni stromboli. When that stromboli was placed before me, my life changed forever. It was so daggum good. Melty cheese goodness with nice salty spicy pepperoni in a flavorful soft pouch of dough. It was served with some of the best marinara I have ever encountered. After that description, it shouldn't be too hard to understand why we returned 6 days later. We split the Calamari again, but this time ordered a 16 inch deluxe pizza with no onions. Soo good, Sooo hot, and mighty flavorful. Even though the restaurant was packed, the service was great. If you're looking for a good old school new york pizzeria where you can have a cold beer and an unpretentious atmosphere, Dano's is where you should be. read more

I'm not sure if our pizza was just served on an off night or what because it was literally the worst pizza I've ever eaten. It was the sicilian and EXTREMELY undercooked. Really bad. The crust also had no flavor, the sauce was bland and there was way too much of it. All the cheese slid off. Perhaps we should try the thin NY style slices--but we're afraid to! That being said, their cannoli is YUM. So good. We liked the Calzone also and the chicken parmesan was pretty good (huge portion, could've shared it!). I may go back for desert, but I'm not sure I can ever try pizza there again. Although I see the reviews and wonder if I should give the thin crust a shot... Agreed too that the waitstaff doesn't seem excited to be there. And the place seems consistently understaffed--really slow service and things are often coming out wrong, seeming disorganized. This is my son and I's favorite pizza in Columbia. Five stars for the pizza, three for decor...too much Yankees paraphenalia! Dano's offers authentic NY style za that has a great crust, just the right amount of sauce and cheese and fresh toppings. They remodeled a few years ago and have a larger space now with a number of booths, a small bar, and a couple of flat screens TVs. They have some good beer selections as well and everything is reasonably priced. read more

Lol They have pinball machines. I grew up playing pinball. It's nice to see a few around. The staff are absolutely great to deal with. I sure hope this place makes it in the pizza market.
