Despite the fact that the girl that answered the phone was basically clueless about delivery and even if they could do a sicilian pie for us, we adapted and were able to somehow place an order that arrived about 45 minutes later on a normal September early evening. Large sicilian style sausage was really, really tasty with lots and lots of cheese and sauce, but not so much sausage. Had it arrived with less cheese and sauce and instead with more sausage, I'd have rated Dano's five star! Even so, we really liked the sweet sauce and gooey cheese. It was a sicilian but wasn't overly airy or thick crusted; more like a grandma's style pie...and I'm all good with that. But be warned, your pie will likely have A LOT of sauce and cheese. Take a look at the pic I posted for clarity. The sausage was just fine, but nothing noteworthy; I would've appreciated some fennel in there somewheres. Price was 21 bucks and change delivered and this pie would easily satisfy 4 to 5 normal eaters. Like most pizzas, it would likely reheat nicely in a toaster oven or on the stovetop in a saucepan. I would not hesitate to order another sicilian pizza from them and I'm glad we ordered this one and that I ate so much of it before my wife did. read more

We frequent here for pizza and its really great! The pizza is always cooked to perfection, never floppy and has a good but not overwhelming amount of cheese. The could be a little more bold with the toppings but you don't really miss them because the rest is so good! Service is always fast and efficient. Ordered delivery to our hotel. Prompt service, good solid menu with many choices from pizza, calzones and cold subs to pasta, salads and hot hoagies. Loved that you could order a slice for dinner especially for delivery. We ordered the chicken parm with garlic bread, a slice of cheese pizza and a garden salad. In no time, a loud knock on the door signaled our dinner's arrival. The pasta dish was hearty, with plenty of moist inside but still crunchy outside breaded chicken breast, well cooked spaghetti, and a decent tomato sauce all covered in an unbelievably thick layer of cheese. Usually I scoff at such overkill but it worked here. If you gently mixed the cheese with the other plentiful ingredients, it became a well balanced bite. The slice was good albeit cold but that was to be expected. It was a decent rendition of a NYC pie, and did not find it to be too greasy as some have complained. For a hotel delivery experience this ranked pretty high on our list. read more

This cozy little pizza joint in Rosewood is chock full of southern hospitality. The waitress was very attentive and I never saw her without a smile, her bubbly personality was almost infectious. The prices here are reasonable, and the food is pretty tasty (although not the best pizza I've experienced in Columbia). I got a scicilian meat lovers slice and chicken tenders, and left full and happy. I can see why this place has been in business for so long. Keep up the good work Dano's. read more

Hopeful that maybe they just had an off night. My husband and I both ordered calzones, and the outsides were so over cooked and just shy of burnt. Order was wrong, which is certainly forgivable, but comical when our server blamed the cooks yet our receipt showed she entered the order incorrectly. Tried Dano's for the first time and the food was delicious. Everything was served hot and tasted fresh. Started with mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce and fried mushrooms (which are hard to find) with horseradish sauce. Both were excellent. The spaghetti and meatballs and chicken parmesan, which was large with lots of mozzarella, over spaghetti. Dano's is now our go to for both. Dessert. Italian Rainbow cake and Chocolate Overload cake. Can't say which we liked best both were yummy! Our server Sommer was very nice and very efficient. Looking forward to trying their pizza and many other menu items....... Not impressed. Hey I only tried 1 slice of pizza but the wait was long, the staff mediocre and the place could use a deep cleaning, but I was totally going to disregard if the pizza was delicious. Got the meat lovers pizza & this dry ole chicken Alfredo. The pizza was really good & kid approved. I've tried their white pizza too, also really good. For the sake of being hungry I ate the dehydrated Alfredo. Flavors were really good, just could've added a little more sauce to it, as noodles absorbed all of what they did put on it. Aside from that, their service is pretty good & they offer military discount (we're just a few minutes from Fort Jackson). I recommend you try them, but ask them to give your Alfredo a little extra loving if you do order it. read more

Possibly the best NY style pizza in the state. The crust tastes like a perfectly baked baguette. There's just enough sauce and cheese so that it sticks and doesn't slide off right when you go to take a bite. You can fold it, like you should be able to do, and you won't have a quarter cup of grease dripping onto your shirt. A ton of beers, great location and the staff has always been friendly, welcoming and helpful. If you're in Columbia and you're craving good pizza, this place will definitely put a smile on your face. The struggle is real! This was a tough review for me, so many conflicting experiences! Let's dive it and start with the most important, the food. Our order: Chicken Parm Eggplant parm Steak and cheese sub Slice of cheese Enjoyed the sub and the pizza was solid. You won't hate it or love it, but it scratches that pizza itch. The two parms, while very large, disappointed. The chicken was very chewy, oddly so. Tons of cheese (not a complaint!), but the red sauce was bland and very basic out of the jar tasting. No personality. Service: Our waitress was very friendly. But overworked. She had to many tables which resulted in long waits. She was hustling though! The wait times weren't a lack of effort on her part. We also had an issue with one of our meals (totally legit, we're not a "send it back" family). Waitress immediately took care of it, manager came over to apologize and they treated us very fairly. So while understaffed, at least while we were there, the attitude and effort were excellent. Facility: Definitely a casual college type place. Plenty of TV's and a large bar. A little worn, but that's part of the charm. Limited parking though. What really brought down my score was the food prep. I was very disappointed to see the gentlemen prep'ing the food to go out had a full, uncovered, beard. I mean a ZZ top trainer beard and I witnessed it brush a couple meals as he leaned over the counter (it's right at the entrance, you can't miss it). And after my "unexpected" ingredient in my meal, this was disappointing to see. Can't recommend, but had high hopes. read more

Dano's is a pretty solid pizza place here in the Capital City. It's not necessarily the best pizza you'll have here, but it's far from the worst. Their standard slice of pizza is solid. Their Sicilian slice isn't. The Sicilian had a weird frozen after taste. I wasn't feeling it. Anyway, it's nice inside. Very New York/ South Carolina Gamecock themed. As a resident of South Carolina I appreciate it. It's almost like an ode to Columbia, SC. I'll go back and try their chicken parmesan one day. I'm a bit of a pizza snob being from Philadelphia so I definitely recommend reading this with that in mind. When you think of good pizza you imagine a nice crispy crust with golden bubbly cheese and a healthy amount of grease. This pizza didn't deliver. The crust was floppy and kinda undercooked. The cheese looked okay but lacked that "this is gonna drip down my hand" feeling. All of this topped off by this recipe tastes like freezer pizza at best. If I have to cover my pizza in so many toppings I can't see the cheese, theres an issue. It's pricey too. I think I would have been happier with my freezer pizza. read more

This was my second time coming here and it was great. The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious. I had Will as my waiter today and he provided great service. He constantly checked in on me and was great at providing me with some food suggestions. I had a pepperoni Calzone and would definitely recommend it to anyone. This restaurant has often been recommended to me through word of mouth while I have stayed in Columbia. I finally decided to give it a go as I was craving some Italian food. As I ordered I was told that they were going through some menu changes and were not offering the full menu so I had to adapt and went with a chicken parmesan calzone. I was pleasantly surprised with the portions and flavor of the calzone. I hope that by now the full menu is back. Last night was our first time at Dano's and we were not disappointed. Our waitress, Lizzie, was very helpful and attentive. She was especially good with our daughters (7 and 2), which is always a plus for us. The mozzarella sticks and calamari were pretty basic appetizers. Our kids had individual pepperoni pizza slices. They liked it. We had the meat lover pizza. The crust was thin and chew in a good way. We liked that the meat was not overwhelming. In the end, we were pleased with the pizza. I suppose that pizza is like BBQ; everyone has their own standard of what is the best and that can be debated! Dano's may not be the best I've had, but it is good and we'd go back. read more

I don't understand how I've had a Yelp account for all these years without reviewing Dano's. This is one of my favorite pizza places in Columbia. When I lived in walking distance, we would often stop in to Dano's for dinner (half pep half mushroom pizza with fried green beans) and leave the happiest campers! The staff have always been great with my son, which any mother knows makes a dining experience exponentially better. The pizza itself is the perfect ratio of crunchy to soft and the fried green beans are the only vegetable that my child voluntarily eats. The calves are awesome, the subs and pastas and desserts too. Dano's is a restaurant, an arcade, a bar, or just a place to chill, and I am confident that it will hold a sweet place in my son's heart after all the good memories. read more
