Not sure if it was the fact that I was starving and the last food I had was almost 10 hours ago but the food and overall experience here was great. Started out with the calamari which I would rate as the in the top 5 of best calamari I have ever had. The other members of the party ordered shrimp and eggplant dish and even though this is a thai place somebody ordered sweet and sour chicken which was very good. I ordered spicy basil pork which was the perfect amout of spice and flavor. Overall one of the best thai food experiences I have ever had and will be going back soon for some more. The best thing is this place is less than a mile from my house and I have never considered going there but now I think I will be a regular. read more

Great food, friendly staff, generous portions... a real find in Gwinnett!! I recently got married & moved to Gwinnett county after enjoying Atlanta & it's wealth of great restaurants for many years. I've been described as a "food snob" in the past & I really thought I'd be driving all the way back into town whenever I wanted a good meal of any sort, let alone Thai food. I was driving around last week in search of good take out & contemplating the drive to Atlanta when I signed onto Yelp's iPhone app for guidance. I read several reviews here that piqued my interest on Danthai so I gave them a shot. I am very glad I did! This place is a hole in the wall - don't let that scare you away. On the advice of a frequent Danthai diner I ordered the Thai dumplings, chicken satay, Danthai fried rice and Green Curry chicken. All were delectable, particularly the dumplings and green curry chicken. I just wish they had fish items on the menu other than catfish (I love grouper) but for the location & price I can promise you will love this place! read more

I have to admit the plaza they are in sucks and its hard to find the entrance your fist time around. Also they really need to redecorate badly. They keep it organized and clean. The food is outrageous... The red curry is my favorite, always will be, but I have never been disappointed with any dish I've had there. So don't let the decor stop you, enjoy every bite! read more

I had lunch here today. I ordered the pad Thai with chicken and shrimp. Added extra chicken. Also ordered the red curry seafood with extra chicken and bell peppers. I gave this place three stars because they have a very mean pad thai. But it wasn't four stars because their red curry seafood was really lacking. It was very thin, while other thai places, their curry is usually thicker. Which in my opinion is better. It has more flavor than something that seems to be water thin. Overall, I would come back here for the pad thai. :) read more

One of my favorite restaurants - period! I love Thai food in general, but Danthai in particular. My wife and daughter do not like Thai food, so as soon as they travel (and I'm left home because of work), this becomes my nightly dinner spot! I love the Panang Curry with vegetables - with a "little" extra heat. Wow! I cannot get enough! As other reviewers have mentioned, the atmosphere is lacking, but the flavor isn't! The strip center is low rent - but that's okay by me; Danthai prices are super reasonable. I can't wait for my family's next vacation (without me) so I can head back to Danthai and eat what I like!!! read more

Shockingly good Thai food. I'm not a huge Thai eater, but I've eaten my fair share. I would come here again and again. Coconut soup is worth writing home about and curry duck is great for the duck-philes. Nothing fancy nothing overpriced, but incredibly friendly and welcoming place. read more

This place has hits and misses. Some dishes are good, and the rest is OK. And sometimes the communication is the problem. When I asked for seafood dish, they told me that it has shrimp, squid, and scallops in it, and the dish was $13(!!). But when I got the food to go and opened the package, there were no scallops in it. I rather should stick to something cheaper then. When I asked the serving size for Tom yum goon soup, they said "2 cups". When I received the order to go, I thought the soup serving is too small. So I poured the soup into a measuring cup and measured it. It was 1 cup, and the soup was awfully bland, unfortunately. There was no tanginess or shrimp flavor to it. I wouldn't justify $5 for it. If you find your fav dish that's reasonably priced, that would be ok. I don't even dine in there ever since I witnessed that they dump the clean silverwares after they washed them, right on the table ( probably not disinfected) and rolling them into napkins. read more

More than the food, the main reason to come here is because of the staff. They are so genuinely sweet and accommodating. We were feeling really hot inside, so the owner brought out a personal fan to be placed near our table. It was very nice, and made the dinner experience all the more enjoyable. The food is mediocre, and the interior can use some work, but if anything it's a nice place to grab a quick bite and especially to come for the staff. read more

Danthai is my go-to for great Thai food. Whether ordering off of the menu or from their special board my family and I have never been disappointed. After our first visit we have been greeted by name by their friendly staff. They always take the time to answer any questions. The service is excellent, the portions are generously sized and use fresh ingredients, the prices are reasonable, and the restaurant is clean. I highly recommend it. read more

We get takeout weekly and have been going there since it opened - its the best Thai food around. Mr. Noi is wonderful and the food - no matter what I order- is great. I hate to do this but I have to leave review. I live off Five Forks and didn't know about this place until I read about it just a few days ago on Yelp and thought it would be nice to have something like this so close to me so I decided to give it a try. My stomach had been a little funky so I wanted to try something mild and a nice soup so I ordered the fried rice and the coconut chicken soup. I mentioned to the guy when I was placing my order at the counter that I just learned of them on Yelp and he said thanks for coming in so I would think that maybe they would have tried harder than they did. To start off when I open the fried rice at home it had a little bit of a garbage smell to it. I was starving and after spending $18 on rice and soup I was digging my way through the dish and it was very sparse for any other ingredients than rice. I got halfway through it and through the rest in the trash. I've had Frozen food chicken fried rice that I would take any day over this. The second disappointment was the soup. The soup base was delicious and all would have been well except for the fact that the chicken was like cardboard. I mean I don't know how the chicken was able to get in this state. In addition and this may be a little picky but the size of the chicken chunks were something you would need to use a fork and knife for not something you would have this large for someone who's eating soup with a spoon. Obviously I won't be back but what a disappointment. read more

No Tony D...this restaurant is NOT consistent with Thai food. I cook my own Thai food, shop at numerous Asian Markets, but the spices, fish sauce, thai bird peppers, etc and cook my own. The consistency of the sauce was "thin" meaning "weak", and sweet when it is not supposed to be sweet. Basil Chicken is not supposed to be a sweet dish! Thai food, as with Vietnamese food is supposed to be a balance of salty, sweet, spicy, sour...not overpowering of sugar. I'm a "destination" eater, and will travel all over the city to get good food. This one happens to be close to me, but I frequent thai food restaurants, not just locally, but whenever I travel for business. I have had La'ab (larb) and Spicy Basil Chicken hundreds of times, and where they all vary, they are consistently at least the same dish! Not syrup sweet like Chinese food (oddly, it reminded me more of chinese food than thai food). In regards to being clean..like I said, I don't need nice fixtures, nice wood tables, etc...but roach traps and sticky traps where you can see them??!? Does this place not want to stay open? Okay, first, the customer service is awesome. This is a family owned restaurant and they actually do the cooking and serving etc. I stopped in after being treated rudely by my usual Thai place and the guy who took my order was SO nice. It took MAYBE 5 minutes. It was so quick! But, the best part, was the food! I got the pard Thai and it was by far the best I have ever had! I will be back for sure!!!! read more

I am flabbergasted that Danthai holds the spot for #2 "Best Thai Restaurant in Gwinnett County" per Yelp reviewers. Emphatically BEG to differ & (not to be condescending, but quality Thai food is a gift from God that MUST be sought out to be experienced & appreciated) can only surmise that those individuals who contributed to this unequivocally undeserved standing must not have tried many (or any) other Thai restaurants via venturing outside Lilburn or have rather unsophisticated palettes (not to mention exceedingly low standards). The three times I dined there, the Coconut Milk Soup was consistently EXTREMELY WATERY & bland, with barely-detectable lemongrass & zero cilantro--& made further unremarkable by a noticeably scant amount of mushrooms. Likewise, the texture & flavor of the "Cashew Chicken" was lackluster &--I kid you not--punctuated in stark relief by a shockingly meager nine (9) cashews. Seriously? Basil Rolls appeared on the surface to be abundantly packed, but fell apart in my hand while eating, spilling the visible contents--too many rice noodles & bean sprouts, too much lettuce--onto my lap, revealing neither enough pork nor basil (corroborated by my lamenting tastebuds upon my uninspired consumption of the second). Panang Curry: Ho-hum & absent of any "harmony"--Was it because I ordered it "Lightly Spiced"? If so, someone should explain to the chef that "Lightly Spiced" does not equate with "No Spice" or entail abandonment of any & all mild or moderate heat-producing elements (Anaheim peppers, galangal, cumin, etc.) characteristic of a dish & essential to its flavor. The restaurant's insipid version of "Thai Cucumber Salad" was devoid of lime juice, peanuts, or Thai Chile sauce & consisted of limp, turgid cucumbers in rice wine vinegar insufficiently accented by perhaps a teaspoon & a half of miniscule strips of fresh mint. It's obvious that "corner-cutting" is part of the m.o. here--& sad & unfair that customers are (apparently unknowingly) being shortchanged & deprived of what I (& other aficionados) would consider to be even "acceptably average" Thai food (which is still pretty good, & much better than this). People of Gwinnett, do yourselves & whomever you inadvertently erroneously recommend this subpar establishment to a favor & try a few more Thai restaurants in surrounding nearby Gwinnett towns such as Snellville & Lawrenceville. Trust me--its a WHOLE different animal. read more
