Even as takeout everything is always incredibly fresh!!! My personal favorites are the Torched Salmon, Bluefin Tuna Toro, and Salmon sushi. For rolls, I highly recommend the GENIUS, Spider, and Spicy Crunch Tuna rolls, they're all so good! And a big thank you to the staff for always being so friendly and welcoming. We ordered the Wango Mango sushi. When it was served, some pieces had no mango and some had no salmon at all. Because the mango topping was covering the sushi, we did not notice immediately that some pieces were missing salmon underneath, while others were missing mango. I brought this issue to the restaurant's attention, but the staff insisted that this was normal. They claimed that some pieces are supposed to have salmon, some are not, some have mango, and some do not, and that the overall amount of mango and salmon is the same. I explained that I have ordered this sushi many times before and it has never been served this way. Despite that, they continued to insist that nothing was wrong. After I repeatedly requested a correction, they replaced four pieces of sushi. However, even after the replacement, two pieces were still missing mango, which is why I ultimately requested a refund. The photo shows the sushi after they replaced those pieces. When I asked why the mango was still missing, they claimed that I had already eaten it. If I had eaten the mango, why was the sauce still intact on top of those pieces? The original plate that was first served to us was even messier and more poorly prepared. It seemed as though the chef may have been careless or inexperienced. The way this complaint was handled was very disappointing. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be returning to this restaurant again. The owner accused me of eating the missing mango rather than addressing the issue professionally. Wanted to try this location because I remember going to their location in Costa Mesa and liked it a couple years back, so went here with a friend. We ordered their spicy tuna crispy rice, 007 roll, me so horny roll, and nigiri: Scottish Salmon, Torched Salmon Belly, Yellowtail, Halibut, and Torched Black Cod. Upon walking in, staff was very friendly, our waitress noticed that she seated us in a spot where the air conditioner was blasting down so she asked if we would like to move to somewhere that was less cold, which we did. The 007 roll normally comes with asparagus which both my friend and I dislike so they accommodated, removed the asparagus and just put extra cucumber and avocado, which made the roll really refreshing. As for the nigiri pieces, my favorites would be the Torched Salmon Belly and the Halibut. Overall, I would definitely give them a try. read more

I visited sushi Imari because I saw they had a great dinner special. The food was yummy and super affordable which I loved. However, the overall experience was lacking a bit. They may have been understaffed, because it took us about 40 minutes to get our food. We only ordered a dinner special and a kids meal so it wasn't a ton of food either. I saw other tables who came after us get their food much quicker which I thought was odd. The server was a bit inattentive. Anytime I talked to him or he asked us a question he would be walking by or walking away if I tried to answer. He never stopped to speak to me. I might give this place another try, maybe at the sushi bar next time. But the deal on the food was great. My meal came with miso soup, salad, rice, a crunch roll, and 6 pieces of sashimi which were all a good size. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile now (and finally did) since I've dined at their Costa Mesa location years ago. We came here for lunch and I highly recommend taking advantage of their lunch special (3 rolls for less than $45) which includes 2 bowls of miso soup! I really enjoyed Finding Nemo and Sunrise, whereas the Titanic was pretty good but a bit heavy for me (it's deep fried). But honestly you can't go wrong with either selection. As for appetizers, we ordered their salmon belly and they are thick slices and pretty juicy. We also tried their toro, the slices are thick and overall melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Disappointing Experience and Poor Management at Sushi Amari Date of Visit: Saturday, December 13th Party Size: 9 I am writing to share an extremely disappointing and frankly, shocking experience we had at Sushi Amari this past Saturday. We have been loyal, regular patrons, but the way a serious incident was handled by the management has guaranteed we will not be returning, and we feel compelled to share this with our community. The Incident: During our meal, one of the waiters suffered a severe accident while serving our table. She tragically spilled several cups of hot tea onto my young adult son's arm and face, and also on the back of his friend. The waiter was also burned on their hand and wrist. This was a terrifying moment, and our immediate concern was for both the waiter and our injured children. Manager/Owner's Appalling Response What is most disturbing is the lack of empathy and professionalism demonstrated by the owner. No Apology or Discussion: The owner did not have the courtesy to come over and discuss the incident with us, just came over check are you ok and a provided a bag of ice. Concern for the Waiter: We repeatedly asked the staff how the burned waiter was doing, showing our concern for their employee. Lack of Service: For the entire duration of our visit after the incident, we received NO service. Our beverages were never refilled--it was just the initial order delivery and nothing else. The Check: When we asked for the check, we were presented with the full bill of $351.48. A Failure of Decency and Management Any reputable business owner, faced with an incident resulting in injury to a customer (and their own employee), should immediately prioritize care and accountability. We expected the owner or manager to come over, express sincere remorse, and "do the right thing" by showing concern & offer discount or comping the entire bill as a basic gesture of concern and goodwill. Instead, the owner only came over to: Ask my son for his phone number to "follow up." Suggest, "if you are planning on going to visit a doctor, please call them first." After I signed the full receipt, I walked over to the owner and confronted her, stating clearly that this was an unacceptable way to handle the situation--putting profits before people after a serious injury. I highlighted that her employee would now be filing a Workers' Comp claim and asked her what she thought she should have done. Her only response was a flat, "oh, I am sorry," with no visible remorse. Too Little, Too Late Yesterday, the owner finally called my son, apologized for the incident, and offered a gift card. This gesture is far too late and feels like a damage control measure after realizing the gravity of her misjudgment. To the owner of Sushi Amari: We hope you learn from this. The safety of your customers and employees, and the way you handle crises, defines your business. Your actions showed a profound lack of courtesy and a failure of basic business decency. We will be sharing this incident widely with family, friends, whom also are regulars here and on all relevant platforms. Maybe a change in management's perspective will happen before our injury attorney contacts them, or perhaps, they will simply learn how to treat people better. One of my go to sushi places in YBL. I love their Genius and Crunchy Rolls. I was surprised to see they offer dinner and lunch specials during the weekends. The sushi itself was delicious, fresh, and was quite affordable. I also love that there is Tesla charging and a fantastic ice cream place next door. Great date spot to chat, chill and walk around the plaza for a bit. Servers were so kind and attentive. They are consistently good every time with the quality of food and their service. We seem to get a complimentary appetizer every time we go, from edamame and gyoza to a specialty roll. While the waitress was kind and attentive, our experience was entirely ruined by the unacceptable behavior of the sushi chef/preparer and the complete breakdown in service efficiency. The Incident with Outside Food We were in town for a water polo tournament and chose this establishment for dinner. My child had leftovers from an earlier meal (a Jersey Mike's sub) in a bag, which was placed on the corner of the table. The bigger gentleman who prepares the sushi aggressively approached our table and unprofessionally informed us that outside food was not permitted. While we understand the policy, the delivery of this message was hostile. He added that next time it would "not be allowed," which seemed punitive given we were clearly first-time visitors who do not frequent the area. Service Failure and Hostile Atmosphere We ordered our meal, paid, and tipped. My family received all of their dishes, but my lunch box was completely forgotten by the kitchen. After waiting an extended period, I informed the kind waitress that she should just refund my money, as it was clear the dish had not even been started. She insisted it was "almost done" and rushed to the kitchen. The sushi chef followed her to the kitchen to see what was happening. I continued to wait, but the atmosphere became unbearable. The sushi chef repeatedly stared at my wife and then at me with an openly bothered and hostile expression. Feeling targeted and uncomfortable, my wife and children left while I waited. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ultimately, I could not tolerate the oppressive atmosphere or the excessive wait time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I told them to just keep the food. It is frustratingly simple for a restaurant to take your money, but in this case, they failed to deliver the final item I paid for in a timely manner. Food Quality * Mediocre: Aside from the incident, the food was generally mediocre. * Highlight: The best part of the meal was the edamame. * Wine: The house wine was poor, though perhaps that should be expected since it is not a dedicated wine bar. We were impressed by Sushi Imari's high quality ingredients and preparation. On our first visit we arrived pretty early on a Friday, but by 5:30 it seemed most of the tables were seated. I can understand why, the food is great and service is very friendly. Our sushi came out pretty quickly and the kids' udon took longer but we were sent not one but two complimentary plates of gyoza, which kept the kids happy. When the udon did arrive I kind of understood the wait; the broth was fantastic and the chicken was flavorful, plump, and freshly grilled, not the sad udon noodles and tough slabs of chicken I've had elsewhere. I also appreciate that they offer more than a single vegetarian option for sushi! The restaurant is spacious and clean with modern neutral tones and natural wood. As a Japanese person in Yorba Linda, I can't tell you how happy I am that this restaurant opened. The service and food were both impeccable. I tried their rolls, dumplings, yellowtail collar, and sashimi and the only thing I wouldn't get again is the dumplings (not because it was bad but because it wasn't anything special). The yellowtail collar was surprisingly a highlight. It was super juicy and was mostly fish with barely any bone. My cousin ordered sushi and they gave her a complementary piece with it along with the complementary dumplings they brought out for everyone in my party to try! I was excited to see a new sushi restaurant open up in Yorba Linda so I called in to make reservations as we were celebrating a birthday. I made a reservation for 8 people total (5 adults, 1 child and 2 babies) over the phone. However, a couple hours later, I received a call from the restaurant telling me they could not move forward with my reservation because we needed to have at least 6 adults. It was frustrating since they had already confirmed my reservation prior to, but after a bit of back and forth, I was told they'd allow it just this once. A bit of a rough start, but our experience was turned around with the attentive service and good food. We ordered a pitcher of Sapporo ($23) which was served in a really neat beer tower along with 4 bento dinner combos ($20.50+ each), a Chirashi bowl ($30), an order of mixed tempura ($10), the Marilyn Monroll ($16.50), and a Bikini roll ($16.95). The fish quality tasted fresh and I really enjoyed both rolls. Service was friendly and attentive and they were even kind enough to give us a roll on the house which we really appreciated. I also enjoyed the modern and clean interior. Definitely a great addition to the city of Yorba Linda! As a note, the restaurant filled up pretty quickly by 6:30pm so I'd recommend coming in early if you're not looking to wait, or make reservations if you have a larger group. read more

This is our 4th time at Sushi Imari since it recently opened maybe 2 or 3 months ago. I was originally quite upset with how they handled their flow of customers (inefficient, only took care of big groups on 3 different occasions we dined there) but after a long chat with management, profuse apologies, and several complimentary appetizers, I decided to give them one more chance. Last night, we went around 6pm and the host instantly recognized us. He said "welcome back!" Then instantly sat us at a table by the window. The owner came to our table, she said "glad to see you again." Even though our service was prompt, they still sent over complimentary appetizers. Very thoughtful of them. We met dear friends at Sushi Imari yesterday evening. They had a soft opening on Monday the 17th and I'm not sure if they are still in soft opening mode, but I'd highly recommend a visit. We sat at the sushi bar and experienced wonderful service. While there were a couple kinks, like we were mistakenly brought miso soup and also 3 bowls of edamame, these are not real problems. It will get smoother. What was awesome for them being so new was everything else! The sushi was AMAZING. I had the Premium 10 piece sushi which is like their version of omakase and it was divine. The way they prepared each individual piece was truly special. I've never had black cod cut the way they did before they seared it....delicious! The ambiance of the place is great too. I was in the sushi place that came before this one and I think the remodel they undertook is quite lovely. This is likely our new sushi spot and we will definitely be back! read more
