This place introduced me to Greek food over 15 yrs ago. It was a very pleasant experience back then. What happened? The servings are smaller.....cooked improperly....prices are higher.....customer service is so so. I hate to say this.....but chicken Maison is so much better. I'm so disappointed. This place has a huge following and gets real busy around lunch. The food is okay, but it depends on how much you like processed lamb. I usually avoid the chicken because it is over-seasoned. Greek McDonalds Place was clean and tidy. Food came out quickly and was nice in presentation. Ordered a gyro sandwich, tzatziki, humus & pita. Total $10.43. A bit pricey for lunch. I really like the food here, but the last few times I've gone, my food took forever to come out. It usually sits on the counter for a long time until someone realizes its ready to be served or packaged up to go. Once I called in my to go order thinking it would be faster, and the girl taking my order said to hold and put down the phone without actually putting me on hold (I could hear her taking orders from customers in line), and never came back. Well, somebody saw the phone off the hook, and just hung it up. This is after waiting 15 minutes. This review is 2 stars for the service. I do think these problems are caused by one employee. **3 1/2 STARS** The food is OK for a "fast food" Greek food. I don't like the new "California" additions to the menu so I only order items from thier classic Greek menu after a few mishits. I typically order the Avgolemono soup, a classic Greek chicken salad, and white pita bread. They have a lot of vegetarian options on their menu for when I'm on a veggie kick. The staff behind the counter are very friendly but it doesn't make up for the long wait times for the food to arrive from the kitchen. Yummy!! Love Daphne's for a quick bite! Their watermelon tea is very refreshing! They recently changed their menu and removed the dolma wraps! Great place to grab a quick lunch. The food tastes very fresh! My favorite is the pita veggieburger with hummus although the falafel wrap is awesome too. I haven't tried anything I didn't like yet. I also like the prices (under $10 for a lunch combo). Recommended for a quick lunch. Monday & Wednesday nights are also great nights to try as they currently have specials (Monday nights pita burgers are $4, Wednesday night street pitas are $1.50). Not enough employees, the place was a mess (uncleared tables everywhere), no T.P. or soap in the ladie's room. Now, for the food: undercooked chicken kabobs, and they were so tiny!! I spent $20 to create a chicken salad I could have had at a real restaurant for $12!! They were out of french fries (what kind of place runs out of french fries?) so my 2 dining companions had to wait 20 minutes for that part of their order to come out. Also, if your ever tempted, don't bother getting the "fire-feta" fries, for an extra $1.50 you get a tiny container of feta cheese mixed with hot sauce, not even ON the fries. My kids really wanted In n out for dinner and I really wanted something a little healthier. This is not my first time at Daphne's I usually love it. However, this time I was disappointed. I had the Chicken kabob plate and it was pretty sad. The chicken was so dry! it was a few pieces of chicken along with a lot of pieces of bell pepper. My salad was lettuce with a slice of tomato and couple small feta crumbles. Maybe it was a bad night or something.. Im sure Ill eat here again one day, I just hope its better next time. read more

Today I ordered the classic Pita with the cucumber tomato salad and rice. Watermelon black tea. I'll start with my favorite- the pita(gyro) it was huge. The pita itself tasted like olive oil (yum!) and the gyro meat was very flavorful today- it almost felt like I was doing something bad because it tasted so rich and yummy! Had tons of lettuce and tomatoes too so it made it feel healthier! The rice and salad were good too! No complaints there. Finally, the atmosphere- it wasn't awkward at all today! I really enjoyed my visit here. The staff was friendly and helpful. I ordered a flatbread pizza which was tasty. I also got the Three-Course Dinner which came with two fresh Gyros Street Pitas and hummus which I loved since I'm a huge hummus fan. The Greek salad was also great. The hummus tasted straight out of a plastic tub and the pita was partially hard... maybe it rested too long :-) As for the chicken, it was tasty, but the steak was tough, I mean Rocky tough! This is a fantastic Greek Restaurant to go to! It is always favorite place to come down to when I go to LA! My favorite item to get is the FireFeta dip with pita. I definitely recommend to get it. This used to be my favorite fast Greek food place, but they've been on a slow disappointing spiral for about a year. I keep going back, because I remember I like this place. Last night was the last time. Here's why: I placed an order for 2 fire feta with pita, classic Greek chicken salad with hummus and tabbouleh, and an original gyro plate with rice and side salad. What I got, a very long 14 minutes later, was a salad that had a lot of water on the lettuce and only ~1 teaspoon of Greek dressing, & no pita for the hummus - maybe that was meant to replace the dressing??? The gyro came with no tzatiki sauce but with Greek dressing instead!?? Yuck! And no dressing for the side salad - I love my salad dry, don't you? Sigh - I suppose I can split the generous 1 teaspoon that came with the dinner-sized salad. The 2 orders of fire feta came with a single pita cut into 4 pieces - i LOVE the fire feta, but not enough to eat it by the spoonful, which I'm assuming, due to the lack of pita is what I should expect to do. To rectify the lack of bread, I place an order for another side of pita. When I got home I discovered that $1.40 gets me 1/4 pita. All in all - Fail and I'm sad about it. We were there right at open, and even when there were a few tables filled, the front of house woman came to check in on how we were and how the food was tasting.
