One of my favorite Thai restaurant! I always get the Gaeng Kari or Pad Ghai with the Thai tea. It's delicious! Large portions as well!

Been here around 10-15 times and have never had a bad experience. Tonight we got the beef with garlic. Thai fried rice with chicken and the yellow curry with chicken. Everything was really good and the spice level was perfect. Also the server with the beanie is always nice and accommodating with a positive attitude. Ordered the food for take out. One of the worst experiences ever! Made us wait for 50 minutes, with no apology. Went to pick up food 45 mins after ordering, but started cooking once we actually got there. Go here to enjoy bad food and even worse service! read more

Honestly the worst service I've ever had in a restaurant. Had a 6:15 reservation. Arrived @6:10 and were seated right away and then promptly forgotten. It took an hour to get our lukewarm appetizers. I can understand getting slow service on a busy night but at least 2 other larger parties were seated after us, served their meals, paid and were gone before we got our entrees. We finally got up and left. When we were outside the front door they finally noticed us and asked (not nicely) were we leaving. We told them that we never got served. Even though he had been flitting around us all evening cleaning tables and avoiding eye contact with us he said we should have " told " them. Haha. Dara Thai just lost 3 long time customers. Ill preface this review by saying that you likely don't want to eat out with me -- im that much of a critic. Took my kids here twice per their request. They are also critics having heavily traveled the world. So, on a three day stay in Flag we ate here twice. Pad thai is "delicious" per my daughter and the chicken noodles were "great and very flavorful" per my son. I had the eggplant basil which was awesome and thai glass noodles the first day. I don't write 5 star reviews but this place needs your attention, your business, and your love. read more

I have lived in Flagstaff for about 13 years. I loved this place when I was younger. The service was good and the food was delicious. Now though, I can't really say the same thing. Going there on slow days or even on a busy night you get terrible service. Your server will do their best to ignore you no matter how much you try to get their attention. You won't be greeted by someone when you walk-in and you will stand their awkwardly by the please wait to be seated sign till someone decides to help you. When you get to your table you will be left there for at least 10 minutes to look over your menu while you wait for your server to appear from the back. There are no happy faces here, just people who look annoyed that you decided to come into their restaurant and bother them for food. The food plating is terrible. It looks like someone threw everything together as quickly as they could and plopped it on a plate. The food is also bland; where there used to be seasoning and contrast in taste there is now bland and not spicy or bland and really spicy. There is no melody of flavor, just spicy and not spicy. On multiple occasions I have gotten really sick from eating here. Since I usually get the chicken I am convinced it has either been sitting to long and has started to go bad or is under cooked, which is doubtful considering how rubbery it is. I am terrible at trying new places which is why I continued to go there until my friends made me try Pato Thai. It was amazing. I hate curry and theirs is the only curry I will now eat. It's 2 blocks north and definitely worth the praise it gets. read more

Terrible service and poor food. Panang beef had clumps of paste and seemed to be missing flavor. Don't think it's a style thing, just had bad flavor. Was luke warm. Pad Thai tasted like the sauce was made with ketchup, lacked any citrus. Asked for more rice, server took my plate as if I was done. Never asked if we wanted to box anything up, granted we would not have in this case. Long waits to ask for rice and check. We were in Flagstaff over Labor Day week and made the mistake of trying to go out for dinner over the holiday weekend. We tried a few different places and the lines/wait were way too long, so we ended up at Dara Thai. I was a little concerned because there was hardly anyone in the restaurant, but we were hungry and decided to give it a try anyway. Luckily, the restaurant filled up by the time we left. We shared the spring rolls and they were pretty good and I had the lard na with pork for my entree...honestly, nothing special about this dish and I've had way better at many other Thai establishments across the US. read more

Ordered to go through lodel and this placed absolutely killed it! The sampler appetizer for two is to die for, the fried bananas a must try! There's nothing bad on the menu everything is delicious, we've been coming here for years but never tried to go. Food came piping hot, accurate and on time. We will be doing this again asap! Yes, t'was my first visit here. No, I do not live in Flagstaff, but half of Phoenix was here on Saturday night a couple weeks ago so I'm sure I saw you there! Dig this: we called ahead and reserved a table (928)774-0047 and when we arrived there was no waiting...for us. Wish I had read these Yelp reviews before going so that I could be the 700th person to order EVIL JUNGLE PRINCESS that evening, but instead we had the curry, Gaeng Keao Wan, a green curry with chicken, bell peppers, carrots, bamboo shoots and green beans in a coconut milk sauce - damn! Also we enjoyed the Larb; ground chicken spiced with mint, chili, lime juice, and red onions served with fresh cabbage - mouth watering! And fo' rizzle - no trip to the corner Thai restaurant would be complete without soup, Tom Yum Gai, hot and sour soup with lemon grass, fresh sliced mushrooms and chicken! Word up. So, the food was excellent, the vibe was retro-mellow-chill, there were a lot of people at the bar too. Judging by the popularity of this location and the positive atmosphere, combined with great food - Borg is giving it a solid reccomendation, and god knows I've had meals that shall remain unmentionable. I will return next time I'm in Flagstaff, hopefully I'll have the Evil Jungle Princess, find out what everyone's yammering about...sheesh! read more

Definitely a three-star joint. It's not BAD but compared to some of the other Thai in Flagstaff, it's nothing special. In fact, I have very little to even say about this place as it is overwhelmingly average, remarkably decent, and spectacularly OK. Give it a try if you want but it's nothing to write home about. read more

My absolute favorite Thai food in Arizona. So flavorful and fresh. Lunch specials are crazy cheap and come with soup or salad. Normally I avoid repeating restaurants while on vacay but I eat at Dara at least once every time I visit Flag. read more

First time here and i will never go back. I tried calling 3 times before i went downtown, i am congested and wanted some spicy food to help. We got there and waited about 5 minutes before anyone came out, she said give me one more minute. OK not a problem. About 5 more minutes later we had to walk up and ask if we could have a table( there was about 9 empty ones) and she said you can wait or leave, its your choice. We obviously left. read more

I went to this place last year when I was in Flagstaff and had a great meal however this time it wasn't so good. Newly remodeled and expanded the place looks great, new bathrooms, bar, more room around the tables. The appetizers we ordered we just OK and the portions didn't compare to the prices. The service was so-so. Very impersonal. My daughter had to chase down the server because she noticed that the server had written down the wrong order for my wife. When the food did come the portions were so small, not like the last visit a year ago. My daughter made mention of the small portions as soon as the plates arrived at the table. Were these lunch portions at dinner prices? All the food tasted OK but I was hungry when I left. That shouldn't happen after appetizers and an entree. I guess they had to pay for the expansion by dialing down their portions. Can't recommend a restaurant that leaves you craving for more food. read more

Everything I ate was way over salted which I have never experienced with Thai food. The yellow curry was very bland, the drunken noodles had good flavor but the salt ruined it, and all of the dishes I had didn't have a good variety of vegetables. I would have given one star but the only reason I am giving two stars is because I received really good service from my server. He did an excellent job and was very helpful and nice. Also I got a 3 spice level and it was definitely dulled down to what I would consider a 1 at any other place. If you like spice, get a 5. read more

Wish I could give a no star for this one but no such option on yelp. The food was distasteful and totally not worth the money. Never ever order the garlic fried rice. It was ABYSMAL ! We had to take a to go because they were closing down for the night ( which is weird because the waitress said they weren't closing for yet another 30 mins on the phone just 2 mins ago!). The food here is great, no complaints there, but the service is disjointed and runs to the inattentive side, so one star off for that. The prices are good, and the level of spice seems to be uneven. I ordered a spice level three on my curry, and it was ok, but not sinus-clearing. Daughter ordered a three on her curry and it was much spicier. Apps were good. Had to flag down a random server to get our tea, which came right before the entrees. The restrooms are a bit outdated and messy looking, there was a box of leftovers in one stall. I'll start of with the fact that the food here is top notch. We all enjoyed what we ate. The downer is that they are not staffed for a full restarant. They didn't even have enough sake jugs to give us all our drinks, which took 30 minutes. We waited 50 minutes for soup, then before we even had it all dished up the entrees were served. Stopped for lunch today and had a nice relaxing experience. Brandon our waiter was so welcoming and attentive. The building has great atmosphere and comfort. I had the spicy seafood platter with brown rice and my wife had the Thai hot tofu vegetables with spring rolls. I don't remember the last time I had such a relaxing lunch. Last night we visited this restaurant The service was very slow, food was cold. We ordred Green tea and it came luke warm and this was after we asked for very hot tea. The egg roles we ordered were like they had sat in the kitchen for 10 minutes before serving them to us. They came cold and we sent them back. The waiter was very upset and slamed his menu he was carrying on the table. We ordered #60, which was yellow cury with vegetables and tofu. The vegetables were almost invisible and the dish was not hot. The dish they served it in was cold like it was in the fridge for awhile. This place is not Thai food but an attempt to fool the public. It was filling, I'll give them that and I guess you could call what I got curry if you call McDonald's a restaurant I got the pineapple curry and woah was that a mistake the dish was bland no spice and no sweetness. Kinda tasted like someone boiled all the ingredients in tomato soup and then before they served it they tossed in some curry powder but it was filling so there's that. Didn't ever realize that you could boil pineapples in tomato juice and actually make them taste more like tomatoes than the tomatoes in the soup. read more

Over the years of living in Flagstaff, I've loved Dara. Unfortunately, my view has now changed since around last October. I've gone back several times to see if it was just some odd, horrible fluke, but I've been let down again and again. Just this evening I went with a group of five friends and were left standing in the entrance waiting to be seated. When one of the servers did see us, she asked how many were in our group and then proceeded to disappear again for six more minutes without saying a thing. Right before we almost left for Ewa's Thai down the street, she came out again and seated us without napkins or menus. After waiting a ridiculous time to order, for drinks, for our food, and then for utensils to even eat...it wasn't worth it. The calamari, duck curry, and pad thai was ordered and shared with my partner and we weren't impressed. The calamari was slightly overcooked and my partner, who is allergic to shrimp, started to react allergically. The duck curry, which is fairly expensive compared to other dishes on their menu, came with three slices of meat. I've made better curry with my friends and the meat tasted overly gamey and overcooked. The pad thai had chicken that was also overcooked, though the sauce was enjoyable. I think that I'm done with Dara. I'd rather go down the street to Ewa's or go elsewhere for something more enjoyable. read more

Ick! I have eaten at Dara Thai a few times and never enjoyed the experience. More often than not, my curry tasted like ketchup. It was quite a disappointment. I have not been back since they remodeled a few months ago, but I suspect the quality of the food and service is about the same as it used to be... which was terrible. read more

There are at least three Thai places in Flagstaff. Dara Thai was the only one with parking. That being said, I'm glad we found this place. Started with the Num Sod which I could have done as my main. So good. The ingredients were fresh and the spice was just right. For my main, Panang curry and it was very good. My dining companion had the Eggplant Tofu which was very good as well. I came here to pick up a to go order, and I waited at the bar where it says "to go orders" for over 15 minutes without even seeing a single employee. Knocked on the counter, yelled "hello?" Several times, no response. All this time I could see my order on the counter behind the bar getting cold, I could have grabbed it myself if I had access. 15 minutes later she comes out, hands me my order, no apology. This is our standby thai place when we are in Flagstaff. Good food, good price, and yummy. My only complaint....they are closed whenever I seem to be in flagstaff so I miss my thai food. (not all bad though, i have found other thai restaurants I love up there as a result!) Anyway, never had a bad meal here and I love their Tom Yum Gai soup!!!!!
