This dealership is the worst place to buy a car. 1. Extremely rude and racially insensitive customer service, including the manager. 2. The salesperson misconstrues the history of the car. I had no idea it was possible, but they gave me a fraudulent CarFox history that claimed the car was clean while, in reality, it had been in an accident and was a salvage vehicle. 3. Lastly, they were not willing to corporate and provide me with better assistance rather, they tried to incriminate me of the whole situation for what their salesperson. First, I'd like to mention that I have bought 8 cars from DARCARS Lexus of Silver Spring over the last few years  (Baya is an outstanding salesperson) and I have always had a great experience.  For that reason, I decided to visit DARCAR Pre-Owned Fairfax because I'm in the market to buy a minivan for my au pair.  I decided to visit this dealership to test drive a minivan they had advertised on cars.com.  During my test drive the sales associate and I noticed the ride of the van was a little rough.   I asked the sales associate if there was work done to the suspension and he agreed to check the service records when we returned to the dealership.  Upon our return, I was approached by the general manager and he asked me what I thought about the van.  I told him I was interested, however, I was concerned about the bumpiness of the ride and had questions about the suspension. The general manager immediately became very defensive and says he drove the van the past two days and didn't notice anything wrong with it.  I responded by saying, "Really?... You didn't notice anything?".  He then looks at me with distain and says, "Have a nice day."  I was stunned. He repeats himself, "Have a nice day" and stares.  He was obviously dismissing me, no longer willing to provide me with service, and passive aggressively asking me to leave.  All the sales associates in the dealership, including the salesperson who accompanied me on the test drive, witnessed this interaction and stood silently watching.  I turned to them and repeated what was said to me... "He told me to have a nice day".  I contained my anger from this blatant disrespect, turned and walked out. I am an educated black man.  I lead a commercial real estate brokerage and I usually dress professionally.  However, today I arrived to this dealership wearing a hooded sweat suit.  I am 100% confident that if I "looked" differently the general manager would have treated me differently.   With that said,  I will never buy another car from DARCARS again. read more

Nice guy. We looked at couple of cars and bought one the same day. This is why I am giving 2 stars. I drove the car home. 5 miles from dealership car engine light comes on.Then I realized why they couldn't do the emission test the same day. It was because of Engine Light Problem. Make sure all dealers will get the emission test done the same day before buying. If they say come after few days "DO NOT BUY THAT CAR". I called the DARCARS and they said they will fix the engine light. Took the car into the dealership to fix the engine light. The guy in the service department was very rude and acted as if he was doing us a favor. They fixed the engine light but very bad customer service. VERY RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE at service department. Final Contract Tips: I paid $800 for a GAP plan which is absolutely useless. Becareful and make sure you DO NOT BUY GAP plan. Please read contract throughly. Do not sign without reading. I made the mistake and paid the price. Just pay for only what you need. Do not be scammed into useless add ons to the price of the car. Never Going Back. I brought my car in to this fine establishment through geico. I was in an accident the week before thanksgiving 2013. (Note that I'm writing this in June 2014). Started off great, my first geico agent of 5 was very helpful. I brought in the truck to get repaired the week after thanksgiving. I was quoted 2 weeks to repair the front end damage. Took 3 weeks. This isn't even a complaint. Just wait.... So I get called and they say my car is ready. I eagerly return to pick up my vehicle. Turns out it wasn't ready, they were still washing it and buffing the new hood. After waiting for 30 min for my car that was "ready" I did an inspection. what did I find? My first of many headaches. They did not pin stripe the new quarter panel that was replaced. (30 more min in the waiting room for me!) I'm just glad they have dr pepper in the vending machines. (Over the next 7 months I will drink more dr peppers than Forrest Gump at the White House) Happy as a clam, I drive my baby home. I note when I pull up my navigation that it does not work anymore. My 2nd new geico agent says they don't cover it. BS I thought as the very reason I pay insurance is to get my vehicle repaired in its entirety after an accident. He instructs me to take it to ford and have them do a diagnostic. They do, and say yes, it's broken due to front end impact. Geico first refuses to pay the bill from ford but a few strong words and they cough up the dough. Took another 2 1/2 months for them to pay for a new one but surprisingly enough my grief isn't with geico. (They lowered my insurance from $100 a month to $60 bc of the time it took to close my claim :) So back to dumb cars... Dar cars.... I'm driving for the first time at night and something seems off. My headlights are out of alignment like a strippers boobs after a 300 peso boob job in Tijuana. I bring the car back to them and they fix. The next week, first time I have driven on the interstate. I am going home for Christmas to break bread and have some blood of Christ (red wine). Only a mile in, MY HOOD FLIES OPEN! I quickly pull over and asses the situation. I'm not a gear head by any means, however I'm far from a moron. The mechanics did not put in the screw to hold the hood latch down. Wow. Wow. Wow. Fast forward a few more months. I'm washing the truck and my bumper feels loose. I take it in and they said of oops my bad. So here I am again sitting in the waiting room drinking dr pepper. An hour later I'm off. I figure it's car tune up day, so I head down the street to autozone. I pick up new fog light bulbs as one has burnt out. Turns out even though I requested my silver star aftermarket bulbs be transferred during the repair, they weren't. Karum the shop manager is just a yes man. When I asked for them to be transferred he said no problem, and they were discarded anyways. So I she'll out an Andrew Jackson for a new set, and go to install them. The passenger side goes swimmingly, driver side is stuck. Turns out the mechanics half asses it and locked it in place while replacing. Another U turn to dar cars! John the salesmen, who was nice enough to me, completely lied to me twice. the first lie went something like "yeah I have another set of keys for the car, but they are at another dealership, i'll get them over here ASAP". Two months later he won't return my calls. $400 dollars at the dealership for new keys. The second lie was from the sales manager and John who stated that I did not have to pay property tax on my trade-in and instead would only have to pay on the purchased vehicle. Granted, I should have done my homework before hand, but that is a blatant lie and they knew it. This is a seriously sketchy place that should be put out of business. Don't repeat my mistake! I bought a 2006 Ford Expedition 4 weeks ago. I understand that these cars are sold as is und that it is my responsibility to check everything. After already fixing the transmission, my repair shop realized that the AC wasn't working. When they took of the compressor, they saw that the core support is rusted through. This car is not safe and it should never have passed a safety inspection. I can only leave this car at a junkyard. Again I know that this is within my responsibility to check the vehicle, but nobody can tell me that they aren't aware about all the issues of the cars they want to sell. Purchased a 2002 Jeep Liberty here for my son. Shame on me for bringing my son as he essentially fell in love with the car (bad mistake). There were several issues the "I" discovered by taking the car to my mechanic and had service fix before finally agreeing to purchase the vehicle. I should have listened to my gut, but didn't. Shortly after purchasing the car, the back passenger door stopped opening from the outside. The front passenger seatbelt stopped buckling, but my son discovered a way to pull up the catch mechanism with a key so we were able to get it to fasten. In late October, the car began to stall and we were informed that the air intake valve was faulty. After getting the air intake valve replaced the crank shaft went bad....which means the engine died. This all happened in less than 6 months time. The customer service lady I spoke with was basically like, "hmmm...sucks to be you. You should have purchased a warranty and that's the luck you get when you buy a used car". I've purchased used cars all my life as I've never had the luxury or the inclination to buy a brand new car. Never have I encountered this many problems in such a short period of time. Even though this was the used car location in Fairfax, VA I will NEVER purchase another car from any DARCARS location. Their lack of concern for my situation made me sick to my stomach. In the future will make sure I have any used vehicle checked over with a fine tooth comb before signing on the dotted line. I actually don't have any complaints about this place. The salesman (Yassir) was courteous, respectful, and didn't try to BS me. If you are buying a used car, look at it carefully (I'm a former car salesman). If you notice problems or things that will cause an inspection fail, bring it up and make it part of the contract to fix it. The salesman doesn't know everything about a used car, and you never know when things can go wrong or fall apart. They did a bunch of work on the Jetta I bought and didn't charge me for the parts or labor. The service manager (forgot the name) was also courteous and really easy to work with. read more

Worst dealership, DO NOT PURCHASE A USED VEHICLE FROM HERE THIS PLACE IS NOTHING BUT A SCAM Purchased a 2002 Nissan Sentra, on my way home in the car, CHECK ENGINE light came on, I took the vehicle back for repair immediately but their definition of repairing the vehicle was to simply turn the check engine light off. Drove home from the dealership to find the light come back on again. Took the car back again only to have them keep the car for a month to repair the O2 sensor - frustrated, I no longer wanted the vehicle and wanted my money back since you're able to return your vehicle for a full refund within 30 days, the manager didn't want to hear it nor care about this issue, I guess it was easy for him to sell the car in this condition without any remorse. He refused to return and refund the car as well as tell me to leave his office. Now I am stuck with a vehicle which has needed ongoing repairs, paying out of pocket to get it fixed. I checked the car fax report and this vehicle has had this problem a few times prior but all this was never mentioned. Thinking the problem is finally solved after a month worth of repairing, it just so happens that this car has a new problem everyday. Today, my radiator is leaking and my car is overheating while it's 11 degrees outside. I am so disappointed and beyond frustrated with this dealership, their lack of customer service and their lack of effort servicing the vehicle has left me no choice but to take legal action. Judging from the reviews, it seems like this is a common issue with this dealership. I regret ever coming here without researching the dealerships in the area, with me needing a vehicle asap they took full advantage and jumped on the opportunity to get rid of a problem car and make it my problem. My wife and I stopped in to test drive a Lexus 400 that was in stock, and we're explicit with our sales person, Dante, that we were only in town to test drive vehicles for the day, and that if we liked the car, then we would be in touch. I'll be clear, Dante was kind, understanding, and accommodating. When we told him our plan, he made it very clear that he wouldn't waste our time with a pitch, just that he hoped we would be in touch. Really, Dante is the only reason this business got a star at all. Besides our experience with him, everything else was the definition of the seedy used car lot stereotype. Almost nowhere for us to park, we were blocked in when we tried to leave as employees had parked other cars in the lanes of the lot, the car had obvious things wrong with it that didn't match the "perfect" condition we had been informed that it was in, and then there was the manager... Even with the other flaws with the lot (I mean, who expects much from a non-dealership used car lot?), we considered giving the car a chance because we genuinely enjoyed the drive. But the manager of the lot was such a blatant huckster salesman, we decided upon meeting him we wouldn't give this place a dime. He bragged about all the cars he sells, pushed his quota for the week on us, lied about the car, dropped the price by $1500 (which just screams either something is wrong that we dont know, or that the original price purposefully jacked up), and most importantly wouldnt take our perfectly reasonable and clear intention for our visit for an answer without the typical aggressive sales pitch. I would recommend serious car shoppers to be wary or come with a steel resolve and much patience. And Dante, in case you're reading this, you're a good salesperson, and I hope you find a better place to sell cars, because this place is beneath your character. read more

A couple of problems from our Sep 2012 buying experience earns DARCARS the lowest rating: 1) We liked the competitive pricing of a Toyota RAV4, but were a little suspicious (given the low mileage) that something was wrong with it. I called about the car, asking if it was driven by a smoker, and was told by salesman1 "I used to be a smoker, so I can't smell it anymore". Ok....when I went to the lot, I spoke with salesman2 and asked the same question. Different guy, but same line: "I used to be a smoker, so I can't smell it anymore". Fishy. Based on the delivery of the line, I think it's one they're trained to lie--I mean "say". 2) DARCARS volunteered a CarFax that proclaimed the vehicle accident free. Closer inspection revealed the CarFax was from 12,000 miles and 18 months ago. (The care had since been in an accident). 3) I arranged financing through my bank, but DARCARS insisted that I fill out their credit application. I asked why it was necessary, and was told (you can't make this crap up) that is was "some sort of 9-11 thing". Disgusting. I wrote in big block letters on their application "DO NOT RUN CREDIT SCORE". That seemed to do the trick, but DARCARS reps weren't pleased about it. 4) Upon completion of the paperwork, it was time for DARCARS to turn over the truck and keys. The sales rep chose this time (again, after the sale) to reveal that they actually only had one key. Buyer-beware, I guess, but...wow. (FWIW: dealer wants $310 for part/labor to replace second key because it's also a remote un/lock jobber.) To review, here are a few things to cover with them if you intend to purchase from them: 1) Don't bother asking about smoking. They'd rather lie than tell you they don't know/can't say. 2) Ask to see a recent CarFax. 3) After agreeing to a price (suggest negotiating over phone so you don't feel pressured to wrap-up negotiations in person), tell them you will not apply for credit with them (unless you want to, of course). If they have you fill out anything that could be a request for credit, write "DO NOT RUN CREDIT REPORT" on it, next to your signature. Cross out, and initial, anything on the original form that states it will run credit check. The word "no" can be handy here too, in theory. 4) Ask up-front what is missing. Both keys? Spare tire? Windshield wipers? It might seem trifling ("of course it does!"), but my experience is otherwise. jf read more

I had purchased a 2014 Ford Fiesta here about a year ago now, and while I loved the car at first, it's had a ton of problems so far. I paid almost $7,000 for it. They had turned the speaker settings so I wouldn't realize that the front left-door speaker was blown out. We had called them very quickly to notify them, and we were told they would fix it for free. I had called them back to go take the car in, they told me I had to order the speaker to bring it in. I then ordered one- even though I was told they were going to fix it for free- and tried to take it back in and they stopped responding to my emails and wouldn't call me back. Then my car STOPPED MOVING on the road due to the coolant light coming on- it had over heated and when we went to go check the coolant, it was all sludge. Definitely wasn't checked before selling. I had to fix the blend door actuator within two weeks also. Quickly after, I realized there's a bunch of liquid in my trunk and the whole lining is wet. There was a leak, and sludge all around the spare tire, so something that also wasn't checked. Now the AC has broken twice, and my car doesn't stay locked. I should've listened to the reviews before buying but I gave them the benefit of the doubt, don't make the same mistake. read more

However, if you are someone who does online research prior to shopping for a car, and are looking for a quick and easy purchase, this is not the place for you. My husband and I researched cars online for my parents. We were excited to find DARCARS Pre-Owned because it had such a variety of vehicles in our price range. We found what we wanted, and I sent my husband with my parents to check it out. They test drove, negotiated the details, and were ready to pay for the entire car on the spot. After waiting 45 minutes for the guy to come back from "financing" (not necessary), they got up and walked out. When I called to talk to the manager, I was told that they "only" had two finance guys working because it was Saturday (again, not necessary on the financing part). However, my husband informed me that they were the only customers in the whole dealership when they left. read more

I would not go to these guys again. I bought a used Mercedes Benz from them and after the deal was already made and I had committed to purchase the car, they informed me that they do not have the keys to the roof cargo on the top of the car and the manager on duty did not even have the decency or the professional courtesy to walk up to me and offer me even an apology, yet alone a compensation for the time and the money I have to spend getting a new set of keys for the cargo. After a month, I am still trying to find a solution for the issue which they knew about and did not tell me. Misrepresentation, intentional or out of negligence, must not be tolerated, even by a used car dealership. Also, they put that inspection sticker pretty quickly on any car that comes their way so that they can sell it, but as it was the case with my car, the wiper blades had to be replaced right away and no independent mechanic in their right mind would have issued a passing inspection for a car that needs the wiper blades to be replaced ASAP, amongst few other minor issues. I would stay away from this guy mostly because of their lack of professionalism and the fact that they not only lie to the customer's face, even the managers treat customers with no respect whatsoever. read more

This is the worst car dealership I've ever been to. I saw online that they had a Toyota listed that I wanted to take a look at. I called to make sure they still had it and said what time I would be coming in. Well when I got there the car was still in the shop. So I took a look around it. And the salesman said "oh the alternator is out" so I couldn't test drive it. So I then asked if they had any other Sequoias for sale. He said yes and showed me the other one they had (which was also listed on the website) He then said it would have to be inspected first before I drive it. He said it would be about a half hour wait. I said ok and took a snooze in my car. Not only should I have had a good snooze I might as well have hibernated. An hour and a half went by! Finally the sales guy came to the car to relieve me of my slumber and we went in side for him to make a copy of my license. Great. I was all set. Not so fast. Got out side and he had the jumper cables out. Apparently the alternator was shot on the one too. The salesman tried to close the hood with the jumper pack under hood. Not to mention revving the car and then trying to put it in drive so it would stall. HELLO! It's not a standard transmission! And doing this on an automatic isn't good. Anyway I digress. Very unprofessional service. For starters you should not list a vehicle online if it hasn't been inspected and ready for use. The car should not be driven if the alternator goes out. Very disapointed with the service maintenance (air intake cleaning). I called first and was told it would cost $125 to do the BG air intake cleaning (carbon cleaning). I request an appointment on their website twice. After 2 weeks...no answers! I then call to make an appointment and I was told it was $175 all taxes included... Bad news. But I went their and did it. When I had to pay, surprise, the final invoice wasnmt $175 but $212,58 !!!! DO NOT GO THERE! It'll only cost you $80+ tax if you bring your own BG can and ask to any garage. I went to this dealership just because I saw this was a Darcars dealership and I expected a better outcome. I saw a Prius and a Corolla online which I was interested and talked to Eric who was a sales rep. and made an appointment. When I got there my first impression of the dealership was, is this really Darcars? I had looked at the cars online and they looked in fairly good condition but when I saw the cars in person, it seems as if the pictures were altered online because the cars were both scratched, the front bumpers were damaged and when I asked the sales rep. what this was?? his answer "this is how used cars are, they aren't in perfect condition". BUYER BEWARE!!!!! It is so true what alot of other people are saying about this dealership. This place is a joke. They will pass inspection on a vehicle that fails miserably. I had to pay over $2000 for repairs. After buying vehicle and driving it off the parking lot the engine light came on. I live in Maryland so i had to get the vehicle inspected. It failed miserably. I contacted the customer relations director (who is replying to these messages on this site) and she said she is looking into the problem. Another lie. I have heard nothing back from her in over a week. This dealership is passing inspection on vehicles illegally. I am looking into what can be done with an attorney. Virginia law states the following 1) If a vehicle does not pass inspection the dealer has two choices, the vehicle may be repaired so that it will pass inspection or a rejection sticker may be placed on the vehicle and the purchaser must receive a written disclosure, prior to the sale, which shows the reasons why the vehicle did not pass the inspection. We feel the we were tricked to believe that the vehicle passed inspection, when it really did not. A Virginia Inspection passed sticker was fraudulently placed on the trucks windshield in place of the rejection sticker. We believe that had we not been from Maryland which required another inspection then we would not have known about the issues until it broke down months later. 2) A dealer or salesperson violating the Virginia Dealer Licensing Act may receive a $1,000 fine and the customer may return the vehicle. BUYER BEWARE - DON'T BUY HERE I bought a 2006 Nissan Murano SL AWD from this delearship. It was making a small noise, and they took it into their shop to look at it twice. I was assured it was nothing major, but that if anything happened, since I was purchasing the "Ultimate" in warranties, I would be fine, and was further told that if the warranty would not cover the repairs, they would. To make this short, I just scheduled my first payment for this car, that I only got to drive 3 days after the purchase before the transmission litteraly fell off. The after weeks in the shop and all sorts of excuses, the warranty company backed off from the repair, and soon after so did the delearship. Yeah, that one STAR is supposed to be "MINUS one STAR"; Truly the worst dealership I have ever dealt with. It was making a small noise, and they took it into their shop to look at it twice. I was assured it was nothing major, but that if anything happened, since I was purchasing the "Ultimate" in warranties, I would be fine, and was further told that if the warranty would not cover the repairs, they would. To make this short, I just scheduled my first payment for this car, that I only got to drive 3 days after the purchase before the transmission literally fell off. The after weeks in the shop and all sorts of excuses, the warranty company backed off from the repair, and soon after so did the dealership. Ugh this place is a joke. The people who work here are lazy and incompetent. They usually close early, take long lunches, it's hard to get them to answer the phone and their repairs are crap. I came here because it was affiliated with my insurance and it was a HUGE mistake. Bottom line I'm shopping for a new car. Why? Because these fools did more damage than repair. I dropped my car off in May and continue picking it up and dropping it off until July when I told insurance I refused to take my car back there because they were so incompetent. They broke my seat and tried to say it happened when I had my accident. My "accident" was a fender bender and I was going about 5 mph. I took my car back for them to fix the seat and after picking it up (after repairs) it broke within 5 minutes. This happened for months with different things. I'm shocked this place is in business. Darcars received a pre-buy inspection on a car and were made aware of over $6000 worth of repairs that the car needed. They subsequently sold me the car without ever disclosing the information. I was forced to take my car to a dealer for repairs and was told at that time (by the dealer) that Darcars had already brought the car in and were made aware of the problems previously. I brought a 2010 Lincoln MKS from this dealership and i had to put front lower control arms on it already. The sales rep Jon Thompson says if i would have told them after 2 days they could have done something about it and how sorry he was about it. I dont understand how the car passed in Va but not Md. Dont ever purchase a car from them unless u want it to be in the shop before you make your first payment. Just believe what you hear about car salesmen. I'm on board with the other reviewers. I purchased the vehicle on Sunday. On Tuesday the car died due to a bad alternator. I had the car towed and discovered the car should have never passed inspection due to bad rear brakes. This basically means they have someone slapping inspection stickers on their vehicles whether they actually PASSED or not. Please stay away from this place. I already have $800 racked up for repairs and I've had the vehicle for less than a week. (Actually, I don't have it; it's parked at the repair shop.) I realize John the sales guy is an old man who is just trying to get by. Unfortunately, he's doing so by lying and cheating people. Very sad and pathetic. read more
