I stopped in for a coffee and treat with my daughter recently because we were very near this area (S Eastern/Siena heights/Anthem). We are so glad we did! The staff was wonderful, friendly and helpful in deciding which coffee to try. My daughter had an iced chai latte and I had a salted caramel latte. We each had a pastry as well. The drinks and pastries were great. The ambience here is nice too. Not too uptight, but also not too sterile. Decor was great and love the small touches for color scheme and decor. It was a peaceful Tuesday morning at 7am. The location is a bit obscure in the back facing Eastern Ave. Matcha Latte, iced | (with almond milk) It came in a cute 10 oz reusable plastic container. The latte was smooth, but not too creamy. The matcha powder used was sufficient. It appeared that the guests pay for the cute container instead of the drink, which is why the serving is limited to 10 oz. Other coffee shop competitors usually offer 16-24 oz for the same price. Menu: Typical coffee shop items are listed, such as coffee and tea. They also have beer lol. The pastries in the display case looked decent, but it didn't appear to be made in-house. Not what I was expecting from here. I decided to take a trip to Dark Moon Coffee Roasters one random weekday afternoon after work. My old high school is close by, so I'm vaguely familiar with the area and I was easily able to find it. They are on Eastern and Sunridge Heights, right next to I Love Sushi in Anthem. First off, they have very limited seating inside. It's best to take your coffee to go any time it gets packed, which was the case when I was here. Not only do they have the usual coffee and lattes, but they also have mocktails and beer. I wanted to try something different rather than coffee this time, so I tried their Moon Tonic mocktail, which was the only mocktail option that they had available. Now I wish I had gotten a coffee or a latte, because unfortunately, I was not impressed with what I got. I hate to leave a bad review for a local coffee shop (which I've never done in all my years on Yelp, ever), but this mocktail tasted awful, literally undrinkable from the start. It tasted like someone poured a whole can of soda into a cup of black coffee. I feel like they completely overdid it on the flavor and I could not finish the whole thing. I think I only took two or three sips. The mocktail cost $7.04, plus a $1.00 tip, which is a little pricey for a small to go cup. Yes, I tip because I'm nice. This is a local business that takes their product seriously. They can easily be called coffee snobs. But when you're looking for the best quality of something, it makes sense that the people providing it are serious about their product. Dark Moon prides itself on sourcing the best beans. They tell you where the beans come from. Price is higher, but your paying for a product that is source fairly to the growers. I appreciate the level of passion and recommend if you truly like coffee, getting into a conversation about their different coffees and sourcing. As to the ambiance and local, it's a small coffee shop. Dark. Usually pretty quiet. Parking is decent. But some might not immediately see them as they are tucked away behind a Wendy's, a gas station, and a Taco Bell off Eastern. If you like coffee -really like coffee- stop by. read more

Gotta share my good experience with Dark Moon. After just a few visits, this is one of my favorite coffee shops right now, and a necessary stop when visiting town. Vibes: I felt welcomed by the friendly, knowledgeable staff (shout out to Josh, thanks for the excellent service and sharing your passion and knowledge!), good music and seating, cool merch and colorways, I notice the customers that come here are friendly and chill Coffee: I like the awesome variety of single origin espressos (love how they served with sparkling water and a mixing spoon), tasty pour overs (in nice ceramic server and cups), batch brew nova blend super tasty for anyone's palate, variety of origins for their fresh roasted whole beans to experiment with at home as a home barista. Interesting and flavorful seasonal/specialty drinks: first time I ever had matcha, hojicha was here and I'm looking to come back to try more variations. Been wanting to try this place since we live not too far from here! We were planning to stay and work here but it was a bit noisy so we only stayed for a bit. There were a few small tables to sit/work but nice to see there was free wifi. I'm not big on matcha but trying to cut down on caffeine so decided to try the coconut matcha cloud which is on their limited time menu. The cashier said it was popular and it ended up being so good and refreshing! My bf ordered the toasted marshmallow latte which I had a sip off. I usually like my drinks on the sweeter side so wish it was a bit sweeter but my bf liked it! Loved the dark moon neon light and the merch was great too, will be back to try other drinks! read more

Hang out here with a couple of my friends. They have limited seating, but they were not busy on a Saturday afternoon. The establishment appears to be divided in two. One side is the seating for patrons and the other side for the cashier and brewing it. They have a huge coffee maker or roaster. They have a bunch of coffee beam sacks by the cashier and on the way to the bathroom. They appear to be bottling and labeling their own coffee. They sell coffee in tin cans with their name and logo. They have limited pastry. You get 30% off for checking in Yelp. They only had one pastry donut when we came in the afternoon, and I forgot to use the yelp coupon. If I could give Dark Moon 10 stars, I would. I am by no means a coffee snob, BUT the regular trip to Starbucks has been ruined by the quality and flavor I consistently get at Dark Moon. I truly didn't know how much better coffee could be! I live right around the corner and they've become my main spot. The drinks are great, the quality is always top notch, and the merch is really dope! I'd recommend the Moon Tonic, Espresso shot, or anything with hojicha. I'm really glad to know a lot of the staff on a first name basis, but my homie Josh really stands out. He came into the shop and within a few short months was already crafting drinks that infused his culture and background with the coffee that we've come to love. Again, ask him about the hojicha. He's a great dude and a killer barista. We bring everybody who comes to town to Dark Moon, and they always request a second visit. Here's to many more hangs at our fav spot. read more
