Always great! We stayed overnight in Flagstaff, and made a return visit. Service is super friendly and casual, and the beer is amazing! My husband raved about the Devil's Lettuce IPA (and he doesn't even like IPA as a rule). I don't drink a lot of beer in general but I ordered the Death's Door porter... if it's on the menu when you visit, definitely try it! The pizza and salad was great as well, but that will go Into the Pizzacletta review... dont hesitate to order a pizza if you are hungry. It is fresh and won't disappoint. Pizza and beer under one roof - what's not to love!? Dark Sky and Pizzicletta are two separate businesses, but they are run under the same roof. At the tables, there are two sets of QR codes with their different menus. You will have two waiters and receive two checks; it sounds weird but they run a smooth operation so it doesn't feel strange at all. We sampled a few beers with 5-oz pours, and got pints of our favorites: the Dry Hopped Franklin (sour) and the 1-800-273-TALK (NE IPA). The space is really big inside with bar seating, and high-top and regular tables; the pizza oven is also inside. We sat on the back patio which had 6-8 tables, but be warned that there is very limited shade. Lastly, they do not have a parking lot, but you can snag metered street parking easily. read more

Staff was hit or miss. We came here at night and then the next day, thinking it would be a better experience. Bartenders were non-existent on the patio during the evening and then the next day, the bartenders were not friendly when we sat at the bar. Food is okay. Food servers were very kind and friendly. read more

AMAZING people work here. I've been here three nights in a row and have had nothing but excellent experiences. The beer is great and the food is great, but lots of places have great beer and food; the reason to go to Dark Sky rather than any other brewery is the people who work here. They're the nicest, friendliest, most helpful crew I've ever encountered. Thank you Dark Sky for a fabulous vacation!!!!! read more

This place was right behind the hotel we were staying at so talk about perfectly located! The beer was great ( we tried their IPAs) and were not disappointed. However, despite being a brewery with a pizza joint inside (separate business mind you), the star of the show was their fungi pizza - was one of THE BEST mushroom and cheese Lisa's I've EVRR had. Yes. Seriously. But I am not trying to digress from the DSB's beer. It was a perfect combination of the two. We went back 2 days later and did the same thing again - beer and a fungi pizza. Dark Sky Brewing is definitely a place to stop at while in Flagstaff, Arizona. To begin, the vibe is awesome. It is laid back with some high top tables and has some cool lighting, along with some whiskey barrels. The beer menu is plentiful and all delicious. Also, the service was awesome. Horrible service all around. From the host to the young man behind the bar pouring beers to the Pizzicletta people. Every single employee seemed annoyed to have to interact with customers. I observed staff totally dismiss two other parties next to us. Server took my mother's cash payment and forgot to bring her the change? Bartender and Pizzicletta employee complained about whoever makes bartender's schedule and how overworked he is and how management doesn't give a sh*t directly in front of us as I paid the bill. Had to flag down staff ourselves for pizza boxes, bills, and change we were owed. Terribly unprofessional. Won't be back. read more

Went to fried chicken Wednesday and it was delicious! The chicken was not dry and had a little kick. Came with 2 sides: the Brussels sprouts slaw had chunks of bacon and the fried mashed potatoes were tasty. Of course we washed it all down with beer! Lots of beer choices here. We were overcharged for the chicken special but the manager promptly refunded us. read more

Worst customer service by Darcy. Basically called my parents thieves. Sat outside and only one heater was working. Wind blew over a patio umbrella on my parents table next to my dad's shoulder and could have easily hit his head. Let our server know(Darcy) who was annoyed I even brought it up to her and told me the umbrella couldn't be moved to any other spot. I asked to speak to the manager and it turned out to be Darcy herself. She said my parents walked out on their tab and when I asked to pay for it she said she actually spoke to my dad and said she would cover it(so did they walked out on it or you said you would cover it?). They have a receipt for paying for all of their food with cash. I insisted at least 3 times to pay for whatever was outstanding since we would and I quote " never want to leave you hanging like that" and she refused. Then she threatened to have me trespassed WHEN I WAS ASKING TO PAY FOR THE TAB MY FAMILY SUPPOSEDLY WALKED OUT ON. Had I come in screaming and going off on her maybe it would make sense and at this point it would have made more sense for how I was treated. My voice never went up but she obviously couldn't own up to her terrible behavior and being caught lying about my parents leaving without paying and just threatened to call the cops and have me trespassed. Incredibly disappointing since the food is incredible and we always stop here when in town. We would never leave without paying even with the terrible service we received. If you have cameras pull them and watch. Aside from her, the gentleman that took our food order was great and everyone else honestly. Food was delicious. read more

Order Ribeye and it was one the worst steaks I've had. Extremely salty. I highly doubt it was a ribeye. Maybe a top round or flank. Zero marbling. Extremely salty, tough, chewy, and over cooked. Was never asked what temp was preferred. Next time I'll try a burger. That said beer is great. . Fries decent. Hummus lousy. Have you heard of Google recipes? Tahini and olive oil? The Middle East would be shocked. read more

I have no idea how the food is. We signed up on the wait list for a table at 7:00 PM on a Tuesday night. We were seated at 7:20. Someone came to take our drink order pretty quickly, we tried to order food, but were told that's a totally different wait staff, and we had to light the lamp on our table to request food server. 10 mins later a server came to take our order, and told us the 3 pizzas would take 30-40 mins. @ 8:10, our server returned to tell us they were 'out' of one of the three pizzas we ordered at 7:30, so our order have never been placed. We left without anything to eat or drink, just water. Would not return, especially if we'd just arrived back in flagstaff after spending the whole day hiking in Grand Canyon and made the 90 min drive back to town. Now it's too late to order a delivered pizza anywhere. So we go to bed hungry. Maybe the food is good, we wouldn't know. read more

Pizza is different but good. The Bees Knees - mascarpone, mozzarella, sausage and honey. Odd combo but it works and goes well with the brews Beer Likely a favorite of IPA fans but IPA's not for me. Still Smoking - light ale with a heavy peat smoke like a scotch Creekside Comfort - blonde ale more my style with hoppy light wheat crispness. read more

Stopped in to get some take away craft beer. Was not disappointed. Great selection, very helpful beertender who filled crowlers so I could take a variety of their beers away with me. I especially liked the Jamaica de Mezcal, a fruity sour aged in Mezcal fodor barrels. The brewer is truly passionate about making some great tasting beers with quality ingredients. I was impressed! COVID. The place was open for dine in and take away. There were quite a few customers eating lunch and drinking lunch. All were socially distanced. Employees wore masks. Hand sanitizer available. When this pandemic is over, I'd like to come back and try the whole menu. Really good beer here. read more

If this was 4-5 years ago I would have had no issue giving 5 stars.... We have been to DSB since it opened maybe a total of 7-10 times and normally it's been excellent... But this week my wife and I went up to flag for our relaxation / beer hunting and were disappointed and saddened. The beers I once loved have vastly changed (blood of my enemy used to taste like Hawaiian Punch mixed with an IPA) now it just tastes like a fruited IPA with very citrus forward hops , and the atmosphere is very different than it was before. It used to feel like a hidden gem where the staff would joke with you , you'd have lots of open space to walk and it felt like home ....but our experience the past two days was the opposite of that. The staff were short and to the point, all business, and it felt rushed yet at the same time .... Ignored?! It's so weird to feel not seen or heard yet feel pressured. There was one of the pizza staff , short hair... specifically who I had to flag down and asked if I could order ... she looked me dead in the eyes , paused and then walked away as if she has better things to do. It wasn't a case of simply not hearing me either ....my wife looked at me immediately after it happened and said "that was weird" Thankfully another server saw and took it upon herself to help us get food. After the past two days ... I honestly don't know if I even wanna go back on our next trip up here. My wife was in the same boat as myself ... she said to me as we walked out "I don't know if I like this place anymore". read more

This was our first time coming to the DSB. The food was fine. I went with my family and three of us ordered the smash burgers, which we enjoyed, but my wife ordered a fancy grilled cheese they were running as a special, and her order didn't arrive until long after we had finished our meals. Now, it was a Saturday night at around 7 PM and they were busy, but most people around us who arrived well after us were served far before us and gone long before my wife received her food. When my wife's food finally arrived, it was a basic grilled cheese without the kimchi pears featured in the menu, which is what interested her in ordering it in the first place. When she asked about it the staff just asked her if she wanted a refund. There was no attempt to fix the order and not even an apology for the mixup. They simply asked if she wanted a refund, to which she said ultimately agreed to. The staff weren't overtly rude, but they just seemed to be annoyed and inconvenienced about having to deal with a complaint. My wife ordered their nachos to replace the grilled cheese, which also took a long time to arrive, but like I said, it was busy. The nachos were good, but the experience was a really negative in overall. I don't like complaining in reviews. Sometimes the food might be a little off from the quality you're used to, or the wait is significant because the restaurant is really busy, and that sort of thing just happens, but what I have a hard time accepting is when the issue is due to the behavior of the staff delivering epically poor customer service. So, if you're in Flagstaff looking for a place to try for dinner, I would suggest you try a different establishment based on our experience tonight, or you can roll the dice and give it a try. Maybe you won't have the same experience we did. I just know that we won't be coming back after what we experienced. I will say this about the place though. The beers were great and the atmosphere was fun. If they can get their customer service issues under control it would be a good place to go. I'm just trying to be as fare and as I can with this review. read more

Great beer but terrible service. Ordered two steins of the Vienna lager and two of the wrong beers were poured. We explained that it wasn't the beer we ordered and were met with attitude and back talk. Love this place and will return with avoidance with this specific bartender. read more

I've frequented DSB a few times over the years, but it's been a while. The last time I visited was before the remodel and extension. I went with a large group and enjoyed the new outside seating. It was a gorgeous night and there were plenty of seats. Our love of the drinks were mixed. I didn't appreciate the lack of prices listed and I didn't enjoy my cocktail. Some of my friends got one of the sours and they couldn't finish it. I ended up ordering two drinks and it was 27$. I'm not sure it was worth it. The food was also expensive. read more

This is a nice spot for a casual dinner. Greeted by live music, we took two seats at the bar, right where they prepare the pizzas. The space is shared by the pizza shop and the brewery, which have their own servers and associated bills. Our brewery server was quick, making the rounds to us a few times before we closed the tab. However, it took a bit longer for our pizza server to make their way to us to put in the order (probably around 15-20 minutes) and then a bit longer to actually receive the pizza (another 15-20 minutes). I had the Bee's Knees pizza which was sweet, as it was topped with honey drizzle. Overall, it was well prepared and had a good amount of sausage on top. Though I enjoyed this, I would probably lean towards the Bacon & Shallot next time; I had a taste and it was delicious. I think the flavored melded a bit better. I absolutely love this place. Beer is expensive but oh so good! The pizza from pizzicleta is, in my opinion, the best in the state of Arizona!! Supper pup friendly and great atmosphere with multiple bars, big tall tables and a patio. It's kind of annoying to have to order and pay from different people, but soooo delicious that I'm willing to deal with that. read more

After our morning hike we went to Dark Sky Brewing. Unlike normal brewery with food operations where you have one server for everything, Dark Sky and Pizzaceletta each have their own servers. One would think that this could get confusing for the patron. How do I know which server to call to order food or drink? They have devised an ingenious plan. Turn on a light at your table and a server will stop by. What food goes best with beer? Pizza. What drink goes best with pizza? Beer. The two food and drink operations work so well together under one roof it is a wonder that more breweries and restaurants don't have this setup. There is no longer a reason to settle for the food truck outside the brewery. We got a full flight of beers and sampled one of their sours. The sour had a hint of mango and was conditioned in a hot sauce barrel. You could tell that there was a little heat but you didn't sense it until after you drank it. It's my new favorite method for adding spicy heat to a beer. I've tasted many jalapeno or pepper beers before, and they generally have too much heat. When you are getting the heat from the barrel rather than the actual pepper, there is an essence of heat without dousing your tongue with jalapeno. read more

One of the coolest things about Flagstaff is the sheer number of micro breweries they have here. It's so hard to try them all when you are only in Arizona for a week. We stopped in here because we thought this place looked really cool. We didn't order any food, so I can't comment on that but the beer was awesome! I got the mountains of mosaic, which was a darker beer and it was delicious! The place itself was cool on the inside and outside, definitely had a unique vibe. We weren't here long, but it definitely was a great place to hang outside and drink a beer. read more

There is a TV over the bar where you order. Not a great location, hard to see from where you sit. I'd go elsewhere to watch a game.

We then shared our favorite pizza, the Diavola, which was delicious as always. Their pizza crust is some of the best in the western U.S. I love the convenience of enjoying Pizzicletta at Dark Sky, but I think we'll be coming to this location from now on. We loved the ambiance and slightly expanded menu offered here. Plus, grabbing drinks two doors down at Mother Road before/after is an added bonus!

There is also a bar and a larger area in the back with a stage, so lots of seating is available for studying, catching up with a friend, or watching a live show. I honestly could not taste any graham or marshmallow flavor, but it definitely was a stronger and sweeter coffee than the Dark Sky, which is what my friend got. The Dark Sky had very subtle mint flavor, and as acid mint lovers, we wish there would have been more! Overall, a really great cafe that I would frequent again, especially when shopping or walking around downtown.

We popped in on a Monday morning hoping to score some great grub and we certainly found some! Cubano ($20.95) - Starting with the bread - it's really fluffy, not toasted or pressed as with usual cubanos. Unfortunately, it's probably a little too light for the sandwich because some parts get mushy from being soaked in all the dijonnaise. The dijonnaise is very sweet, creamy with a mustardy zing. I think they add a bit too much, making the sandwich more fatty and messy to eat than I like (not to mention what I stated before about it soaking into the bread). The meat is fantastic. Both porchetta and ham are griddled on the flat top, giving them a developed and concentrated edge. The ham is to the point of being like country ham, while the porchetta still has great seasoned porky flavor. I believe they griddle the swiss cheese alongside the meat. It melts and crisps up into a cheese skirt, adding a fantastic texture to the sandwich. There's a lot of crinkle cut pickles underneath the meat, but it's not enough acid to cut through all that fat. Sandwiches come with a side of house chips. They are fried until a darker golden brown color, but aren't burnt. This gives a great kettle chip-like crunch. Even with different sized chips, they are very evenly fried with all chips being the same texture. They are salted the perfect amount. (4/5) Aleppo Pepper Pastrami sub Tomato Soup ($22.75) - This place is famous for their pastrami, and I can tell the quality. It's cooked on the griddle until it develops crisp edges. It's fatty, but the fat is rendered so there are no chewy and leathery parts. The meat is extremely tender and thinly sliced. It's honestly almost like bacon in texture, but the taste is completely different, with the exterior spices and pepper making a huge impact along with the rich concentrated meatiness inside. The bread is a nice toasted sourdough, not strongly sour in flavor, but definitely noticeable. The bottom slice is slathered with plenty of nopales studded cream cheese. It's added in a large amount and is an extremely creamy and fatty substance yet somehow doesn't overwhelm the sandwich. It's warm but not melty. The nopales are clearly there but I didn't find it to contribute much. The pastrami is layered on top of that followed by a ton of sweet brown caramelized onions that are very tender. An entire green chile, roasted and super smoky, is above that. Finally, aleppo mustard is spread on the top slice of bread. Between the green chile and the aleppo, there's a slight warmth that tinges the sandwich. It's nothing too spicy. Instead of chips, we opted to sub the Tomato Soup (no fee). It's very homestyle, full of tomato richness in a thick blend. It has a strong tangy tomato essence. There's basil oil drizzled on top for a boost of freshness. The soup is unfortunately quite a bit too acidic for my tastes, but that's only by itself! While very acidic, the soup is actually great as a balance to the sandwich (along with the pickle of course) since there's so much richness and fat coming in between the bread. (5/5) Proper Meats + Provisions definitely serves some great sandwiches. We were considering visiting again for our 2 full days in Flagstaff, but weren't able to make it because they close so early at 6!
