I'm a local customer and live just a minute away, so I've visited more than once. I came in for lunch today with my wife and our 1.5-year-old son. After placing our order and sitting down, the server loudly yelled from behind the counter for us to come get our water. It felt uncomfortable and unprofessional, especially with a young child. When I placed my order, I asked for extra white sauce, and I asked again when the food came out. Both times, the request was ignored. I also mentioned that we hadn't received our drinks, but instead of addressing it, the server again yelled for us to get the drinks ourselves from the cooler. The food itself was okay, but the bread was very poor--hard and barely edible. I even called the restaurant later in the evening to share my concerns, but was told the server was off at that time. Overall, very disappointing experience, mainly due to the customer service. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and leads to improvement.

The gyro meat, they literally reheat previously cooked gyro meat instead of carving it fresh off the roasting cone and providing freshly cooked gyro meat. The gyro meat they provided was also room temperature and obviously not fresh. Maybe if you get lucky and come in at the right time you can get gyro meat freshly carved off the cone, but the other times youll be getting older and reheated gyro meat which is unacceptable. Its the same situation with their beef kobideh kabobs and possibly even their rice. These were not made to order, instead both the kabob and rice were room temperature, not hot, and they had obviously reheated the kobideh kabobs instead of actually cooking fresh ones. All of this is unacceptable. To top it off their prices are extremely high. Gyros i believe were $14 which is very high end for gyro. The kobidehs i believe were $18 or $19. So their prices are higher than most places yet the quality is lower. Theres plenty of places you can get a freshly cooked gyro or kabob with rice for less.

If I could give this place zero stars, I would! Where do I begin my tales of woe about Darya Kabob? For starters, my review here is based on many, many years of miserable experience with this place. I started going there when they first opened up and over the years, the experience just kept getting worse. Actually going to Darya has been miserable since day 1. I stopped going there a year or so ago and now prefer to give my business to Moby Dick. The owners of Darya Kabob have something against anyone who isn't an American of European heritage or an Iranian. The woman who owns the business, (you'll know her by her very dark skin and fake oodles of noodles looking dyed blond hair and mean scowl) is mean to every customer she thinks is ethnically inferior to her. She never smiles and I mean NEVER! And forget a "welcome to Darya, how may I help you" let alone a "thank you and please come again." After reading reviews on Yelp, I can see that other patrons of non-European ethnic heritage have similar complaints about Darya. In the past, I have ordered several items from her menu for large crowds, as well as individual orders, but you'll never hear a thank you out of her no matter how much you spend in her restaurant. She is constantly irritated and in a bad mood unless you look like a WASP, in which case you'll have her devotion. Obviously she is suffering from an inferior complex since she is neither blond nor white but a brown Iranian. Additionally, every time I eat at this place, I get deathly ill and have nauseating migraines for days from (presumably) the heavy doses of industrial-strength chemicals they use to tenderize the meat and enhance their otherwise bland, flavorless food. The tomatoes are usually hard as rocks or burnt to a crisp. The bread (naan) is so thin, it looks like a crispy hard wafer rather than a naan. I know they want to save money, but a naan is not supposed to be a hard, crispy wafer. Please use generous amounts of dough to make a decent naan, it's not that expensive. The meat portions like the chenjeh are so miserly, and the kubideh is spread so thinly on the skewers you wonder if it's even meat. As they keep trying to cut costs and skimp on portions, I have decided this place is not worth my hard earned money for all the above mentioned reasons plus more. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. The food is disgusting. They are stingy about sauce which they serve in a tiny cup and will charge more without telling us it is extra charge. The food does NOT taste fresh, their bread is stale, and our food orders are never correct. AND ON TOP OF IT, I parked in front of the 10 minute parking in front of the restuarant to drop off a package next to the restuarant, I got out of the car and this man who works over in the back rolled his window down and yelled at me saying I was an A****le... drove away and I came out of the store and I saw him walking down toward the restuarant passing by my car and he was staring at me down and repeated himself and insulted me again and again. Thank god I had my boyfriend running behind me to PUT HIM IN HIS PLACE!!!.... come to find out, he works at the restuarant!!! My boyfriend saw that he went in and went to the back kitchen. SHAME ON YOU AND FOR WHO EVER HIRED THIS OLD MAN. HE IS GIVING YOUR RESTUARANT A BAD REPUTATION. I vouched for your food when I could only walk to around the Sterling plaza to get some lunch on my breaks. After today, you have lost 2 customer and I am reporting the restuarant that your employee has verbally assaulted a customer.. And for what? I am guessing because I parked in the 10 minute zone which is also a combination reservation parking for the restuarant employees and he wanted to park there..? I did not even take 2 minutes and I came back to encounter this scary man looking like he was about to harm me!! Whatever reason this man had to go ahead and ruin my good day and speak to a woman like that!!!... Shame on you and the whole restuarant. I have a video of the whole inscident of this man verbally assulting me and my boyfriend. I am making sure everyone I know does NOT comes to this restuarant. I am more in favor of the Rice&Kabob on the other side of the Sterling plaza next to the Pollo Inti and Party City. **I attached a picture of him yelling at my boyfriend and opening the door to going inside. Darya Kabob is my all time favorite Kabob place, and one of my top five restaurants in the Northern Virginia area. Whether it's ground beef, chicken, or steak, their meat is all beautifully marinated and cooked tender and delicious. I'd also recommend the Khoresht Gheymeh, a split pea stew with Darya Kabob's delicious steak, or the Fesenjoon, a spread made with chicken, pomegranate, and walnuts that goes wonderfully over one of their substantial portions of basmati rice. I've probably been to Darya Kabob 20 or 30 times and I have never seen it too crowded or noisy. From the first time I visited the owners treated me like family. This great little establishment has been a stepping stone for me to explore more exotic Persian cuisine. read more

I have tried just about everything on their menu, favorites being the lamb, chicken, beef are just about the tenderest most freshest I've tasted from any kabob place in the area. Do yourself a favor and get the spicy version. It's not crazy spicy and gives the entree another depth of flavor. I'll definitely be back again to try the other options.
