This is my favorite kabob place. The food is always delicious. I've never been disappointed. The restaurant itself is nothing special. Simple metal / particle board tables and classroom type chairs. We always do take out. I've heard from friends with kids that they like to eat in house and it's kid friendly. Don't forget to get some hummus. I generally feel lukewarm about hummus, but I could live off of Darya Kabob's hummus. Yum! read more

I've tried just about all the kabob places around here and they don't even come close to Darya Kabob (except maybe one other place, but it's a little further out from me). I love going here. I ordered the Family platter 2 via grubhub for our dinner and it was amazing. The meats were done to perfection as was the Zereshk rice. This is the day after and I'm still thinking about this meal. This place is the best kabob place I know. It is not a fancy spot but damn the meat is so good. I get the beef kabob or the bone-in chicken kabob. The naan is huge and warm and soft and toasty. Also they have this white sauce they give with a meal and it's great with the meat. The meals are filling and satisfying and not too pricey. My son, 13, is picky about kabob because he's always complained about the dryness of the meat at the kabob place in Dulles Town Center and at reston kabob and the over season (too much cumin, spices, etc....) Upon final intent, I brought him here, order the steak chenjeh and he devoured it!! Just salt and pepper, great cuts of meat that melt in your mouth, and perfectly cooked. 2.) Rice - basmati rice, nothing too it..... 3.) Owner and staff - the nice owner, still don't know her name but she is a sweetheart. First time there we ate there and she insisted we paid afterwards, which was weird in a non-restaurant setting. We ordered, sat down, ate and got up and walked out honestly forgetting that we had not paid beforehand. Get in the car and I freak out because then I realize I didn't pay!!! I come back in apologizing profusely that no other place does that, pay afterwards, and she said "Not a problem, you could of just paid me for the meal the next time you returned...." They did not offer tadig and that's one of the main reasons I order from Persian places. Also they did not give you the yogurt sauce like other places. I live close to the towncenter and finally got around to trying this place. I came during lunch on a Friday and it was relatively empty. A friend and I both got the chicken kabob with bread and rice. The portions were really big for a reasonable price. They make the bread in house and it was SO SO good. I can't describe it but it's perfectly chewy and warm.. similar to naan but not as airy? I don't know but it was delicious. The chicken was a bit dry but the flavor was good. It came with a yogurt(?) sauce, green hot sauce, and chickpeas. Only slight complaint was that the steak kabob definitely didn't seem char-grilled, since there really wasn't any dark browning or char, which I prefer. My children are now in college and tell me all the time, wish I could go to Darya Kabob. They have a new and improved menu, now they offer several specials daily. My favorites are the Bagali Polo(Lamb Shank,rice with dill weed and lima beans), gormey Sabzi (beef type stew and greens over rice) and Darya Special which is Kubedih chicken and beef with Chenji. The Kabobs are fresh and moist, the yougurt sauce is just right The rice is perfect and the Humus is the best I ever had. I have been eating Persian food for 34 years! I know good persian food. So I went back to Darya and it turns out the white sauce they supply when you eat there (in the fridge) is different than the white sauce they give you for carry-out. The carry-out white sauce is not good and tastes almost spoiled. The white sauce in the restaurant is very good. If they could use the same white sauce (the good one) for carry-out, this place would be 5 stars. read more
