Food can be fantastic, but it hasn't been consistent. My first time at Daryoush it was amazing. Juicy and flavorful kebabs and the dill rice was spectacular. Everything was just perfect. My second time was unfortunately quite disappointing. We came in late so perhaps they ran out of the good stuff or cut some corners. The chicken kebabs were less juicy and pretty bland. The dill rice was not good... I'm not sure what went wrong, but it went from Wow to below average. Their hummus during this second visit was also not great. Service is generally very attentive and professional. The atmosphere is nice enough for family gatherings or a date. I'm definitely open to coming back. The highs can be high, but I'm not sure what version I'm getting. read more

Salad-E-Shirazi - Cucumber salad; so healthy, so refreshing. Lavash Bread - Wow, so good. Heated just right; it melted in my mouth. Combo Koobideh Kabob - One chicken and one beef. I liked the chicken over the beef, but really, I liked my wife's salmon! The rice was nice and flaky. Decent portions. It was my first experience with Tahdig; bottom of the pot rice. This was cool. I have had different versions of this in Spain (Socarrat), Chinese sizzling rice, cubed deep fried rice, etc. Mahi Kabob - This was my favorite dish, my wife's dish. The salmon was cooked to perfection. Even after I got home and microwaved it, it still tasted as if it was cooked perfectly. How is that possible?!?! We had two orders, both my wife and my guest selected the same dish. Khoresht Bademjan with Baghali Polo - Our guest ate this up. The Baghali Polo did not look appetizing, but he really liked it. Two bottles of sparkling water. Atmosphere - Nice decor. Only one unisex restroom and sadly, there was always a line. Metered street parking - They are VERY strict here. It is safer to park in the garage across the street. The 1st hour is free, then it costs only $1.25 an hour. Open 7 days a week from 11:30am to 10pm. Service - Good. We were the first customers here as we planned to go back home to Reno today, to avoid driving in the snow storm. By the time we left, there was a waiting list. Price - $161 + generous tip. Disappointed Despite Great Food I've given Daryoush two chances now -- driving all the way from Martinez (20 minutes each way) both times because I genuinely enjoyed the food the first time. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. On my second visit, they forgot the onion and butter, which are basic staples that come standard at nearly every Persian restaurant. When I called to let them know, I was told -- with a completely straight face -- that I needed to "request" these items because they don't want to "waste" them on people who might not use them. Let's be real -- that's not about waste, it's about cutting corners. Skipping the essentials to save a few pennies while charging full price is unacceptable. What made it worse was the owner's dismissive attitude on the phone -- he actually laughed while trying to justify this policy, as if my feedback wasn't worth taking seriously. I can respect a business that values quality or sustainability, but not one that talks down to customers and defends poor service. The food might be good, but the lack of respect and professionalism is a dealbreaker. There are plenty of great Persian spots that deliver amazing food and treat their customers with respect -- this won't be one of them for me again. read more

Knowledgeable of customer service and very apt with the tables that are with customers. *The restaurant is cozy and fancy. I visited this place last night for my mom's birthday and it was absolutely delicious!! The staff was very friendly and immediately greeted and sat us down. They were constantly checking in on us and making sure we were taken care of. The ambiance was very calming and on the semi fancy side. We got the combo plate for the appetizer which had baba ganoush, mast-e-khiar, hummus, and greens with some feta cheese. It was a nice little sampler and we all enjoyed it with the bread they brought out to the table. I got the Soltani which comes with a skewer of filet mignon and a skewer of their koobideh. I am not a fan of koobideh but when I tell you... this koobideh literally MELTED in my mouth!! It was so tasty. The filet was also very juicy and tasty. I upgraded my rice to shirin polo which is a sweet rice with some nuts and it really hit the spot with the buttery koobideh. One thing I love about this place is that they serve a piece of tahdig with your entree. Tahdig is a crispy piece of rice and it is so tasty and buttery!!! Not sure about cross contamination so if you have a severe gluten allergy I would definitely ask! The vegan koobideh is made from impossible meat and they have either "beef," "chicken," or "lamb". I've never had Persian food and suggested this spot for lunch after hearing about it through a friend. It was lunchtime on a weekday and we had the option to sit outside which we enjoyed. The staff was kind and attentive. The lunch menu had amazing deals (rice, entree, and drink of your choice). The portions surprised me with how big it was! I ended up having it for lunch, dinner, and the next day. The ghormeh sabzi was lovely and I really enjoyed getting the upgrade to shirin polo. Our server informed us beforehand that I was ordering sweet rice which I appreciated because I'm sure that could be surprising to some. The rectangle on my rice was supposed to be tahdig and it was gravely disappointing but I think I could try better tahdig somewhere else. I'm a regular here. I work in the area so I frequent the restaurant quite a bit. I have even brought my family to eat at the restaurant. Today I came alone. I was seated outside in the patio area. The patio was more or less full when I got there. A couple came with a full sized poodle maybe 50-70 pounds in an already cramped patio area. The dog was completely unrestrained while I was eating, lunging several times in my vicinity, and entering my area without the owner caring. Clearly the dog was untrained, and so was the owner. The manager did nothing other than to watch, despite it being his responsibility to supervise the restaurant and ensure that patrons treat each other with respect and that there are no health and safety issues. When I asked the gentleman as a courtesy to move his dog and to ensure it is restrained, he became irate and an argument ensued. He claimed it was up to the owner of the restaurant and not me to decide where the dog was. When I asked the manager to intervene, he said no and that he just worked there and refused to get involved. I was forced to box my food and leave. I won't be coming back here again. The food isn't that great to begin with. Please supervise your restaurant and protect your patrons. read more

We came here for dinner after my massage on Saturday. The dining room was surprisingly cold looking and dark. Service was very fast. The portion sizes are pretty big. We both enjoyed the chicken dishes but the thigh dish was especially tender and tasty. Prices are very reasonable. We would come back if we ever want to have more Persian food. Our mainstays are the kebobs - specifically the mouthwatering koobideh, and the delicious hummus (which I wish came with more cucumbers). We didn't bother to send it back because I was over being there and just wanted to leave. It was such a poor experience for a meal over $150 that we didn't go back for nearly a year. When we went back, the meal was super bland. The salad had (this is literal) lettuce and a tomato. Come on! Try harder than that!!!! The chicken seemed like it was cooked alright. My son and I (we shared the chicken dish) both got food poisoning. This time there was 3 of us and it was still over $130. Another Delightful Dining Experience at Daryoush Persian Cuisine My last meal at Daryoush Persian Cuisine was before the pandemic, so it had been a while. Today, I was in the neighborhood with a couple of colleagues who were as hungry as I was, and we decided to indulge. The place was busy, but the three of us got a table inside. The dining area is not big but comfortable and well-kept, and interesting photos and art pieces are hanging on the walls. We started with a Combo Plate for an appetizer. We switched the Kashk-e-Bademjan (Roasted Eggplant Dip with Whey) with Mirza Ghasemi. The other items on the plate were Musto-o-Khiar (Yogurt and cucumbers), hummus, feta cheese, and fresh herbs. Mirza Ghasemi is a dish distinct to the Gilan province, which covers a good portion of Northern Iran by the Caspian Sea shore. It is made with a combination of tomato, garlic, mashed grilled eggplant, and eggs. The eggplants are roasted over an open flame and have a distinct smoky flavor. It was done just right, and we all loved it. Two of us shared a Daryoush Plate, which serves two people easily. It includes three skewers: one filet mignon, ground beef, and one chicken breast kebobs. We switched the chicken breast to chicken thigh, which is usually moister meat. The kebobs are served with two plates of Basmati rice. We enjoyed everything. The filet mignon was a bit well done for me, so I made a mental note to ask for medium rare the next time, but other than that, everything was good. Our server was very good and on top of his game. He was very accommodating and ensured we got everything we requested on time. All in all, all of us enjoyed our meal and will certainly go back there again. read more

The beef and chicken thigh skewer was tender and delicious with a dusting of saffron. I crushed the roasted tomato into the basmati rice which added a burst of flavor.
