The plates were tasty and you can do half rice and half salad. Meats were juicy and well cooked and seasoned. The real highlight was the dessert. We got the pistachio ice cream plus faloodeh combo. We placed a take out order on a Sunday night. They do not accept takeout orders over the phone, so you have to place it in person or on their website. We had some special requests, and we're not sure if the website could handle it. The place has no overhead sign, so it was slightly tricky to find. It is dim inside with a romantic atmosphere. I was greeted by a very nice gentleman who helped me to order. He repeated the order back to me and it was perfect. They were busy inside, but it only took about 10 minutes for the food to be ready. They no longer have the combo appetizer plate for to go orders. I cried a little on the inside. I love sampling stuff when I try a new restaurant. So I ordered a hummus appetizer ($12) instead. This was very smooth, slightly over salted, and had a cute design on the top. It came with a small stack of thin lavash bread. My personal preference is for the thicker stuff, but this is also authentic for sure. We got the Salad-E-Shirazi ($12), which is a diced cucumber, tomato, red onion blend. It was a little bit too sour. DH liked it. We ordered two Koobideh plates ($22 each) and swapped the rice for steamed vegetables, as another healthy Yelper did. The veggies were obviously from a frozen stir fry mix. They were pretty good for frozen, but clearly lacked the "crispness" of fresh. And it had snow peas. Seriously!? Well, I was still thankful for a healthy, low carb option. Each plate comes with 2 "sticks" of meat. Both were juicy with a decent amount of sear one the edges. The little ones and DH loved them. I thought they were really good, chicken was slightly more flavorful than the beef, but they did lack some depth of flavor and "meatiness". Overall, it was okay, but not mind-blowing like the 5 star reviews have you believe. I wonder if we could've done a better job ordering. Food can be fantastic, but it hasn't been consistent. My first time at Daryoush it was amazing. Juicy and flavorful kebabs and the dill rice was spectacular. Everything was just perfect. My second time was unfortunately quite disappointing. We came in late so perhaps they ran out of the good stuff or cut some corners. The chicken kebabs were less juicy and pretty bland. The dill rice was not good... I'm not sure what went wrong, but it went from Wow to below average. Their hummus during this second visit was also not great. Service is generally very attentive and professional. The atmosphere is nice enough for family gatherings or a date. I'm definitely open to coming back. I liked the chicken over the beef, but really, I liked my wife's salmon! The rice was nice and flaky. Decent portions. It was my first experience with Tahdig; bottom of the pot rice. This was cool. I have had different versions of this in Spain (Socarrat), Chinese sizzling rice, cubed deep fried rice, etc. Mahi Kabob - This was my favorite dish, my wife's dish. The salmon was cooked to perfection. Even after I got home and microwaved it, it still tasted as if it was cooked perfectly. How is that possible?!?! We had two orders, both my wife and my guest selected the same dish. Khoresht Bademjan with Baghali Polo - Our guest ate this up. The Baghali Polo did not look appetizing, but he really liked it. Two bottles of sparkling water. Atmosphere - Nice decor. Only one unisex restroom and sadly, there was always a line. Metered street parking - They are VERY strict here. It is safer to park in the garage across the street. The 1st hour is free, then it costs only $1.25 an hour. Open 7 days a week from 11:30am to 10pm. Service - Good. We were the first customers here as we planned to go back home to Reno today, to avoid driving in the snow storm. By the time we left, there was a waiting list. Price - $161 + generous tip. The Persian salad with tomato and cucumbers was much tastier than regular salad which the waiter offered. I didn't know it was a choice before and I will be getting that from now on. The waiters are well versed in what is plant based so I don't have to worry about what's in my food. For dessert there is a vegan rice cake with rose water which was yummy. Disappointed Despite Great Food I've given Daryoush two chances now -- driving all the way from Martinez (20 minutes each way) both times because I genuinely enjoyed the food the first time. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. On my second visit, they forgot the onion and butter, which are basic staples that come standard at nearly every Persian restaurant. When I called to let them know, I was told -- with a completely straight face -- that I needed to "request" these items because they don't want to "waste" them on people who might not use them. Let's be real -- that's not about waste, it's about cutting corners. Skipping the essentials to save a few pennies while charging full price is unacceptable. What made it worse was the owner's dismissive attitude on the phone -- he actually laughed while trying to justify this policy, as if my feedback wasn't worth taking seriously. I can respect a business that values quality or sustainability, but not one that talks down to customers and defends poor service. The food might be good, but the lack of respect and professionalism is a dealbreaker. There are plenty of great Persian spots that deliver amazing food and treat their customers with respect -- this won't be one of them for me again. read more

I've never had Persian food and suggested this spot for lunch after hearing about it through a friend. It was lunchtime on a weekday and we had the option to sit outside which we enjoyed. The staff was kind and attentive. The lunch menu had amazing deals (rice, entree, and drink of your choice). The portions surprised me with how big it was! I ended up having it for lunch, dinner, and the next day. The ghormeh sabzi was lovely and I really enjoyed getting the upgrade to shirin polo. Our server informed us beforehand that I was ordering sweet rice which I appreciated because I'm sure that could be surprising to some. The rectangle on my rice was supposed to be tahdig and it was gravely disappointing but I think I could try better tahdig somewhere else. I visited this place last night for my mom's birthday and it was absolutely delicious!! The staff was very friendly and immediately greeted and sat us down. They were constantly checking in on us and making sure we were taken care of. The ambiance was very calming and on the semi fancy side. We got the combo plate for the appetizer which had baba ganoush, mast-e-khiar, hummus, and greens with some feta cheese. It was a nice little sampler and we all enjoyed it with the bread they brought out to the table. I got the Soltani which comes with a skewer of filet mignon and a skewer of their koobideh. I am not a fan of koobideh but when I tell you... this koobideh literally MELTED in my mouth!! It was so tasty. The filet was also very juicy and tasty. I upgraded my rice to shirin polo which is a sweet rice with some nuts and it really hit the spot with the buttery koobideh. One thing I love about this place is that they serve a piece of tahdig with your entree. Tahdig is a crispy piece of rice and it is so tasty and buttery!!!
