I live nearby in Brighton and this cafe is definitely a hidden gem. They are always playing an oldies uplifting playlist, the menu is robust, and the food is absolutely delicious. Their steak sandwich is made in front of your eyes and definitely my favorite. However, everything from the lox bagel to the Chinese chicken salad is beautifully crafted and a very fair size. This place has awesome food. Salads are super fresh with quality ingredients and great portions too! We've tried the soup twice and it was ok but not a lot of flavor/bland. I would give the entrees here five stars, no question, but I had to dock a star because the service has been very slow every time we've been and the workers are not very friendly. My only other two gripes are they are not open on Sunday and the prices are pretty high for a lot of their menu items. The food is fresh so it's worth it for the entrees, just wish they would come down a bit on their side items. All in all I would absolutely recommend this place. It's perfect for a nice Saturday afternoon if you aren't in a rush-now if only we could speed up the service and get them open on Sunday I'd be coming every weekend!!! read more

I'm pathetically obsessed with this place. The breakfast options are above average, but what I really can't get enough of is their lunch menu, in particular their Bahn Mi sandwich. I could eat this every day. It's a generous portion, fresh, delicious, and doesn't feel like a big heavy sandwich. I have tried several other items- their salads, pastries and a few other sandwiches, and they are all consistently full of beautiful, fresh and delicious ingredients. The staff is very friendly too. My only complaint, is that they have limited hours, as an employee of the hospital across the street, I really wish they stayed open later. read more

I called Dash Cafe to place an order last month and the female owner who is also the chef answered my call in her typical extremely rude tone as I had experienced before. She gives me a very hard time for trying to customize my order and abruptly hangs up the phone as if I was a solicitor trying to sell her a magazine subscription. I go to pick up my order and enter the cafe to find her behind the grill with a smug look on her face as she always has. She whispers to her fellow employees as if she is making fun of me and the order I placed, all because I wanted to substitute a damn vegetable.....This is just ONE of the many experiences I have had with the owner of this establishment. She is downright rude and treats her customers like garbage as she stomps around her cafe like the queen she thinks she is. The word hospitality is the opposite of what I would describe Dash Cafe. The owner is obnoxious, and a complete scam that marks up her food to the highest dollar at every chance she gets. .75 cents for a sauce makes a lot of sense right? Wrong, that's a ridiculous price point. If you want to be harassed by the owner and pay an arm and a leg for an average salad, go to Dash. If you want good food and good service go somewhere else. read more

This place has everything you could want and more for lunch. Sandwiches, burritos, salads you name it. They have many options to choose regarding breads. Some dishes have an Asian twist to it. If I had all the money in the world I would eat here for every meal. Every dish is absolutely fabulous and filled with flavor. Excellent quality for the price-- the food is worth it. The owner (often at the register) is a tad shy but don't let that deter you at all. The ingredients are fresh and I cannot emphasize enough the quality of the food. The burritos are especially good, along with the cubano panini and the veggie panini. The casual, laid-back atmosphere makes for a warm and comfortable place to relax. Today myself and coworker from ST E's ordered a simple salad , and sandwich , it took almost 30 min, to get and we had to ask several times about the order, they had obviously screwed up the order, however instead of admitting this, they kept saying 5 more minutes. We work at the hospital hello? 30 min break sound familiar? Later when calling about this the Manager/ owner Male was rude and accused me of exaggerating!!! The arugula provides rich texture and the caramelized onions paired with the steak is classic. I work locally so i'm always happy to have some variety in my usually lunch choices, and I was not disappointed with this cafe. The selection is very good so I didn't know what to have, ended up having the bun cha ( Vietnamese noodle salad) it's something I've never had. Dash cafe is great! I live right around the corner and have been several times to try out different salads and sandwiches, all of which have been delicious. The people who run the place are very friendly, and they recently started using levelup, which is convenient. I am a long-time Brighton resident who enjoys patronizing local coffee shops. I tried Dash this morning for the very first time and I will not be back. First, they get a zero on customer service. I walk in, and as the man behind the counter makes eye-contact with me, he continues to turn his back to me and go on about what he was doing as I waited at the counter. Once he decided to join me at the counter, he did not have the courtesy of giving any form of salutation, not even a smile- just a straight face as though he was annoyed I walked in. Second, I proceeded to order what has been the worst cup of "fresh" coffee I've had to date. Third, I purchased a lemon poppy seed slice that was stale; I suspected that it was old, and I should have trusted myself. All in all, I left there wishing I had never entered. There are too many great small business in Brighton Center to waste money and time at this spot. I recommend Treats on Washington, Mirror Cafe, CafeNation, and Athans, all of which serve great food, great coffee, with great service. read more

Decided to go to Dash Cafe after a friend told us about Brighton Center's newest cafe. It was a good decision. The food was an eclectic blend of tastes and styles, with the emphasis on salads and sandwiches. Everything was freshly made from scratch, no processed food here. There was something for everyone, even an eleven year old, and no one was disappointed. I had the pulled pork sandwich, which was fabulous, but I will have to come back to try some of the wonderful salads and breakfast offerings that others in our party had. I also like the fact that the cafe is a "green" establishment with regard with to recycling, composting and minimizing the throw-away mentality that is commonplace to so many restaurants. How can you go wrong...the food was fresh, well-prepared, delicious and fast. The space is bright and cheery and adds to the experience. It's not Burger King, Dunkin Donuts or Mcdonald's. Its great food fast, but certainly not "fast food"!! Lookingforward to going back. read more
