The hamachi carpaccio is good, but the portion is too small for the price, even by our standard.

Great neighborhood spot for sushi, tapas, and to our surprise, incredible ramen as well. It's a cozy little corner restaurant that's an easy walk-in for a small group. We ordered the "top secret" crispy rice tuna, salmon avocado maki roll, sakura blossom specialty roll, and ramen. Everything was on the money! I'm always skeptical to order ramen at a sushi spot because it's usually not their focus, but this one was fantastic! Great flavor. It was perfect for our casual date night and we will be back :)

A warm meal on a cold night. Unagi Ochazuke. Chawanmushi (takes some time to be prepared and you won't regret the wait). Popular with a wait-list on some nights.

My friend and I went here on a rainy weekday night. We were seated immediately in a cozy booth-like area that was enclosed by a wooden fence. The restaurant was half full, and the service was quick in allowing us to order, serving us food, and bring us the check. We ordered the Stuffed Mushroom, the Wagyu Carpaccio, the Dash Special Roll, and Chicken Karaage. The mushrooms were rich and flavorful, the carpaccio had a good blend of salty and sweet, the dash special roll incorporated popcorn shrimp nicely, and the chicken karaage was quite crunchy! Overall, I enjoyed trying some of their tapas and would love to come back to try more!

Chirashi bowl 5/5 - this was really good and only $34! There was a decent amount of fish and a good variety. All the fish tasted fresh. Fish to rice ratio was also really good. We also tried some of the appetizers and fish cake soup which I thought was okay. But I would definitely come back for their chirashi bowl! It was pretty busy on a Saturday night but I don't think there was a wait. We had a big party and got seated right away.

The place was pretty busy, so service was a bit slow but very respectful. The ambiance was quite nice and had more seating towards the back. The rolls were small for the price, and not very filling. The flavor was good, but for some reason their wasabi wasn't very strong, and my friend's roll didn't come with any wasabi or ginger. Overall, a good spot for sushi in Noe, but still suffers from the Noe tax.

Loved this place and so happy it's in my neighborhood. I was a bit surprised by some of the more critical reviews since I thought the three things I got were excellent (maybe I just ordered well haha). - Top Secret - the crispy rice is cooked to perfection and the spicy tuna goes so nicely with it. Comes in four pieces so a great sharing dish though I devoured them all myself (5/5) - dash taco - nice and cold which is nicely complements the hot crispy rice dish. I love a tempura battered seaweed shell (4.5/5) - I waited too long before eating the second one and it got a touch soggy so eat it when it arrives - daily special - I got the o-toro nigiri. This was divine and the first thing I ate. LOVED (5/5) Lastly - I thoroughly appreciate a restaurant open on Mondays bc you know, many places aren't open (ugh SF!). And as solo diner walking in at 5:30pm I didn't have to wait

A quiet sushi place located in Noe Valley! They have a wide variety of options and have an Izakaya vibe with some fusion items. My friend and I split: - Rising Sun ($17) - 3/5 I liked the tuna freshness but it was balanced out by the soggy/old fried crab in the middle - 49ers ($16) - 3/5 Simple California roll with salmon and lemon slices on top; just an average roll. - Wagyu Carpaccio ($15) - 2/5 I was kind of confused with this one because I expected it to be raw. The pieces were chewy but I also expected more flavor. - Hamachi Carpaccio ($15) - 4/5 My favorite thing that we got! I love me some good hamachi. For the rolls, they were tightly packed; love this because some places got rice falling everywhere. Service was good! The servers were nice. Overall, just another sushi place; nothing bad but also nothing amazing.

This is delicious! Ika-Uni Special! A must!

Delicious food and sushi but with a spin. The small plates allow you to try every delicious selection or share with others. Flavors are spot on, very friendly staff. Comfy interiors with plenty of seating, even to accommodate large groups. We will be back and recommend.

The service was very good and it's a nice looking space on Diamond/24th. The menu has some interesting options as well as everything else you would expect from a Japanese restaurant. For me, the taste just wasn't there tonight for most of the choices that we made. The miso soup in my opinion was too complex and heavy. The salmon tacos were served with salsa and deep-fried, tempura seaweed cups. The only thing I could taste was the salsa. My chicken teriyaki was just ok, again the flavors were off. The chicken wasn't seasoned very well, and the teriyaki sauce I requested on the side was very thick and too sweet. The lamb chops were the best choice that we made for dinner.

Left: Sakura Blossom Right: Creamy Scallop - both 5/5!

Great sushi spot in Noe Valley! We came here with a few friends close to closing and they were very accommodating, quick service, and offered a friend environment, especially from "Aunt Mimi". All the food was delicious. Can't wait to come back again!

It is such a treat to come to Dash for the tapas, as I follow the best reviews here. These dishes are unique, tasty, fresh, with lots of flavors! We had the Dash Tacos: one bite introduces this restaurant's ability to create deliciousness! Wagyu carpaccio: tender & tasty; Tuna Salmon Tower: fresh fun to scoop on top of a crispy chip drizzled with their sauce; and Top Secret: no photos to keep it a secret! Service was friendly, attentive and efficient. Nice clean cozy restaurant for dates and families in Noe Valley. You can also treat yourself and come alone! Will return to try their sashimi.

    Sakura Blossom, Dragon roll

We stumbled on this place and what a nice surprise! It's a lovely restaurant that has nice vibes, it's actually quite bigger than it seems. We got the Sakura roll, dragon roll, and unagi fried rice. The rolls were pretty standard. We really liked the rice. It was super unique from other Japanese restaurants we'd been to, and the portion was good. I loved the crispy salmon skin and the textures in this rice. The highlight of the meal.

We were sat at the back of the restaurant which had a nice wood aesthetic and mood lighting. The service was great. They gave us some mock aperol spritz to start since neither of us drank. We went with the prefix which had an item from almost every section. The standouts of the course were the cod with pickled cucumbers, the chicken katsu, and the panna cotta. Definitely the juiciest chicken breast katsu I ever had and the cheese was good addition. The hojicha panna cotta was also yummy with a nice bold flavor and syrup on the side to adjust the sweetness. The sashimi and oden soup were also very good and refreshing to balance out the more greasy items on the menu. The skewer, udon and mapo tofu don did not standout as much in flavor and heaviness. But overall, glad I got to try them! The tasting menu was good overall and definitely interested to try some of the à la carte items next time.

This cozy spot mainly focuses on katsu plates, but I like how they had off menu or specials to choose from if you'd like another option. I will say though them katsu plates were just chef's kiss. The meat is pounded thin enough where it's still juicy and tender, but doesn't affect the exterior from being crunchy and a bit flaky. Nothing was dry here yallll! I also like how it already comes with miso soup and salad. Huge fan of that Hamachi Truffle special though. Think of a citrusy flavor from the ponzu, fresh fish, a bit of micro greens, and a thin slice of jalapeño that just ~works~ on a cute wooden spoon that you want to steal I could honestly eat like 5 spoons of this. I'd skip on the calamari as it was kind of skimpy to share with a large group. Only note was that their fried katsu curry was a bit underwhelming with having more slices of carrots than potato! We walked into a refined but welcoming space where the sushi counter is the main focus, and the meal unfolds course by course in front of us. There is a sense of calm throughout the room, allowing the attention to stay on the chefs, the ingredients, and the details behind each dish without the distraction of a busy dining room. The omakase experience balances traditional sushi with more creative touches. Each course brings something different, from fresh sashimi and nigiri to warmer dishes like chawan mushi that add depth to the progression of the meal. The sushi highlights the quality of the fish while incorporating thoughtful flavor combinations, with dishes like scallop and the dry-aged fish courses standing out for their texture and seasoning. The sake pairing fits naturally into the experience, adding another layer without overpowering the food, and the sommelier's selections complement the progression of flavors across the meal. What makes Kusakabe memorable is the craftsmanship and pacing of the meal. The chefs take time to explain each course, making the experience feel personal rather than rushed. Sitting at the counter adds to the atmosphere because you get to see the precision and care that goes into every piece, from the way the rice is formed to the final brush of sauce on the fish. The pacing of the meal allows you to appreciate each course without feeling rushed, and the team's attention to detail creates a rhythm that keeps the meal engaging from start to finish. Kusakabe feels like a place made for special occasions, celebrations, or anyone looking for a more elevated Japanese dining experience. It combines technique, hospitality, and creativity in a way that makes the entire meal feel like an event rather than just a dinner. I also agree that Akiko's is pricier, but we also go for special occasions rather than a standing weekly or monthly reservation. Parking can be tricky in the area, but there are apps that can help with that.

It's a cool space but rather too large and stand offish for a truly great omakase meal. Service was…read morealso bumpy. We noted our dietary restrictions on the reservation and the host confirmed that but the menus aren't customized for each guest (which I'd expect for a high end omakase with less than 10 guests during our seating). Then the first server showed up and started describing the opening course of 3 small plates, 2 of which contained shellfish. When we asked about it, he just backtracked and said "That's not lobster" and then walked away. We were also never asked what we would like to drink - I finally asked the sushi chef for tea and he ran to the back to communicate that. There was also no real interaction with the sushi chef the entire meal so it felt impersonal and sterile. Food notes: maybe the selection was just not for me that day but there was only 1 course I enjoyed (kinmedai) and by the end I was eating a bite and leaving the rest and dreading the next course. The fish flavors felt very strong and overwhelming and the sushi rice was so wet that every piece fell apart on the way from the plate to the mouth.
