Banh Mi (Cha / Pork Roll)
    Andie T.

Came here because I was craving Bo Ne (Dodging Beef) and oh my goshhh, this place definitely hit the spot!! I'm from San Jose so my standards are pretty high for Vietnamese food, and I absolutely loooove this place. I also had a banh mi since it's what they're known for and also was absolutely delicious! Bread is fresh and everything has good portion sized and full of flavor. The owners are very friendly and love talking to customers and creating a connection with each person who comes in and I felt very comfortable and relaxed eating here. Amazing customer service and amazing flavors and food! Also love that they have free snacks, candy, and Maggi sauce (which my mom used alot in her cooking!). It's hard to find a place in Portland that tastes like home but Dat Banh Mi tastes like home. Going straight to the top of my list, I will be coming back here often.

You can't go wrong with a good bahn mi. The crispy and soft bread, the crunch of the veggies and flavors of whatever protein you choose. If it works, it works. Dat Bahn Mi is around the corner from where I work. I've been in that strip mall many times to pick up breakfast bagels and had seen that Dat was in progress of opening. Very nice atmosphere and even the history of the bahn mi is up on the wall. The menu has choices and Dat, the owner, was very friendly. Even going out of his way on my way out to open the door for me. As for the food? I got the special for $10.99. A bahn mi with various deli meats. Vietnamese ham and pork roll. The bread was crispy and soft on the inside, the veggies crunchy and the meat, tasty. They have 11 sandwiches to choose from and some other special dishes as well. They of course have Vietnamese coffee and Thai iced tea as well as other beverages. It's a darn shame I'm transferring to a different store, otherwise I'd frequent this place. Please support local and enjoy.

Saw the IG posts for Dat Banh Mi so went to sleep last night dreaming about a delicious banh mi Straight outta the house this morning and drove to Dat Banh Mi for a breakfast feast. Ordered (4) Banh mi and a Viet iced coffee #7 Vietnamese cold cut: Lots of layers of pork loaf, Vietnamese head cheese thinly sliced, pork pâté, fresh herbs and picked carrots. The taste was good, bread was cold and underbaked, soft inside. I thought it was an An Xuyen banh mi roll but it's made fresh onsite. The pâté is good on this sando gives it a nice balance with the sliced meats. Pickled carrots had an overpowering vinegar tang, like lemon dripped on the sandwich. The bread inside was sourdough like since it was underbaked. It won't be the same crispy outer shell soft airy banh mi like at other places. So less crumbs and more bready flavor. 3/5 : meat needs more head cheese and thicker cucumbers and sweeter picked carrots. Surprised there's no daikon in here but that's the chefs recipe #6 chicken Delicious lemon grass marinaded chicken, layered with homemade mayo (that buttery yellow fresh egg made mayo- yum ) the bread was toasted longer and slightly more crispy than the cold cut which was good. I didnt know pâté was in this sando so it was slightly overpowering 4/5 #2 Grilled pork Love the marinated pork. Yes it's not a Korean bbq served hot off the grill style pork (but neither is the grilled pork best baguette). Great meat flavor and crispy bread. Thinly sliced cucumbers 4/5 #3 Grilled beef Yasssss playa, the grilled beef is well seasoned AF, like good lawd it needs no extra Magi drips. There was a battle here between pâté and beef flavors. Would have preferred more mayo and grilled beef only with a fat cucumber to balance out the rich beef marinate. 4.5/5 Vietnamese cafe / Cà Phê Sữa Đá: This definitely hit like a rocket it was super sweet with more condensed milk than the deep French roast coffee flavor I like. Just added more crushed ice at home and it mellowed out the sweetness a bit. 4/5 needs more coffee espresso flavor. Overall the meat proteins are on point 5 but the picked carrots are thinly sliced and not crunchy, the vinegar seeped into the other ingredients and bread giving a sour taste. Pâté in each banh mi is a preference and probably good for me for only the cold cut sando. Bread is good but underbaked, if you prefer extra crisp shell with a thousand crumbs on your lap than maybe bake it at home for a bit longer. Love the cucumber slices but some had the full green skin on them with a waxy taste (end tip of cucumber) Worth another visit for sure great to see more banh mi shops opening in Beaverton Great friendly service staff , super nice and even gave me a chicken sample to try interior was ultra sleek, modern and a cold AC on blast. Priced moderately from $10-12.25 range per banh mi seems Pricey? Maybe to some but Vietnamese food shouldn't be dirt cheap for quality ingredients. The proteins are great and a lot of prep is put it. Go to Hong Phat for your banh mi / cafe $5 combo. Even a sandwich at jimmy johns or jersey mikes is like $20+. No more cheap haircuts or underpriced professional services. Charge them damn market rates. Even pho is near the $20 price range. That's scarier than rising gas costs ‍ I mean you ever seen a Viet business charge a wellness worker free on your bill!?! What is wrong with Portland restaurants.

It's possible I had a case of ordering the wrong thing. I got the Korean spicy pork. I really wanted the roasted pork but they were out and for whatever reason I couldn't see bbq pork on the menu. The rolls are softer than normal which isn't a bad thing. However the pork was pretty juicy. Very flavorful but ended up making the bread soggy and a little unpleasant to eat. Good ratio of meat and veggies though. At first I scoffed at the price but you get what it's worth. I was a big fan of the liquid msg condiment station. Really that is the secret ingredient for good banh mi. I could see myself coming back. Hopefully they will have what I want.

First time here and it was a nice little spot for lunch and sit down since I work down the block. Bread was crispy and not too hard where it would hurt the roof of my mouth. Sandwich was loaded with meat but there was a type of meat I didn't like maybe because it was too gelatinous for me. Nice friendly staff with two female workers there. Will come back to try their pork belly sandwich.

A welcome addition to the area. They took over the space that Subway vacated. Located at the corner of SW Nimbus and Hall. They share the same parking lot as Society Pie, Panda Express, Einstein Bagels, Muchas Gracias, and Starbucks. The space is clean and has ample space for indoor seating. We were greeted immediately as we approached the counter to order, then found a spot to sit. The staff came to check often which is a plus. The sandwich was freshly made. The bread was perfect, and the sandwich meat portions were amazing. Unlike other places, their carrots and daikon weren't pickled. The amount of the protein definitely made up for it. It's nice to have Dat Banh Mi in Beaverton. Looking forward to trying other items on their menu.

So happy to see a Banh Mi shop in the neighborhood. Within the SW Nimbus plaza the DAT Bahn Mi opened a few weeks ago. I ordered the Spicy Korean Pork Bahn Mi, if you like spice, this is the one for you, it has all of the normal items, mayo, pickled carrot, cucumber, cilantro, jalapeño and a green paste like spicy spread. The sandwich had a lot of flavor and is served on a fresh french roll. They have many different options of sandwiches, I am looking forward to their addition of chicken. I asked the owner, they are working on adding it soon. They also have a special dish section and a variety of drinks. They have a lot of different seating options, such as a bartop, large table and small table options. I really enjoyed the history of the Banh Mi that is displayed on one of the walls, worth a review.

Unfortunately we did not end up eating our sandwiches, as we did not find them to be enjoyable. Not sure if it was one element or every element of the sandwiches. Pretty high price for the size and quality.

    Stephanie S.

The Bahn mi sandwich itself lacked filling and meat. We ordered the pork belly and for the price it should have more meat. The bread was soft and crunchy as it should be. Nice and fresh. The salt and pepper chicken wings were good but had a lot of breading on them. Flavor wise they were delicious. They were juicy inside but just too much breading. Family run spot with super nice service and very kind people. I would try a different sandwich or possible a different dish all together next time. The aesthetics were cute and nice vibe inside the clean restaurant.

Egg and sausage banh mi, delicate and crisp baguette!
    Neal B.

Easily the best banh mi I've had in the area, and one of the best generally! For context, banh mi is one of my favorite foods which I have been seeking out everywhere I've lived for the past 20 years. I ordered the #2 grilled pork with pate, #7 cold cuts, and #11 Chinese sausage and egg. The baguette texture is crisp and delicate, many places will have tougher crusts that are like shrapnel in the mouth, or are sad soft rolls. The egg and sausage sandwich is actually a great texture pairing. Every component within the sandwich was spot on as well, fresh herbs and pickled veg, seasoned mayo and pate. Always a treat to see the last two in a banh mi, and done so well! Absolutely will be coming back again and again!

Yummy eats. I recently noticed that they were closer to me than my usual spot where I get Pho, spring rolls, Thai ice tea and banh mi. So. I thought I would try Dat Banh Mi and they are indeed all dat. They serve plates, drinks, sandwiches. I the spot is clean, the service is friendly.

Food is good. It is one of the best Vietnam Banh Mi in Oregon. If you want to try the original Vietnam Banh Mi, you should come here. They are so friendly and kind. Crumb is soft and bread crust is crunchy.

Quick Snapshot: The restaurant offers a very clean, modern atmosphere--quite different from a typical Asian eatery. The food is served quickly, arrives hot, and is well-prepared. Prices are on the higher side, but still reasonable for the quality. Detailed Review: My wife and I ordered the #1 (special roast pork), #7 (cold cuts), and #2 (grilled pork). Of the three, we especially enjoyed the #1 and #2. The food was served promptly and arrived hot. The bread was warm and soft with a slight crunch, and the Vietnamese butter and pâté were well-balanced and flavorful. The sandwiches were generously filled with meat, which was greatly appreciated, and the overall taste reminded us of authentic flavors from home. We also ordered two Vietnamese iced coffees. While the flavor was slightly off from what we expected, it was still acceptable. In terms of pricing, the total came to just under $60 for three sandwiches and two coffees, which feels a bit expensive for this type of meal. However, the service helped justify the cost. The staff were attentive and regularly checked to see if we needed anything. Toward the end of our visit, the owner personally came out to ensure everything was satisfactory, which we truly appreciated. Overall, we had a positive experience and would definitely return to try other items on the menu.

We got lucky and pulled into the last open spot. There were a good amount of people inside but we were seated right away. They have a little shop area in the front that was super cute too. Their menu is pretty large but in the best way. There's literally something for everyone from spring rolls to pho to banh mi. My friend and I each got our own DIY spring roll set and I got a cup of beef pho broth with an order of rice noodles to make a mini bowl of pho for myself on the side. The spring roll set comes with 4 sheets of rice paper, fresh veggies (lettuce, basil, cucumber, pickled carrots), rice noodles, your choice of protein (we chose pork sausage), and dipping sauce. The pho broth was flavorful and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The spring rolls came out amazing and were so filling. My only suggestion would be to have the carrots shredded instead of sliced to get a more even distribution within the spring rolls. But overall it was a fantastic meal. I definitely recommend giving it a try!

Perfectly grilled pork chop with great char, paired with shredded pork skin and Vietnamese meatloaf, served with rice that soaks up all the flavors. It's hearty, balanced, and incredibly satisfying. When I'm craving soup, I always go for the #40 Phở Tân Tân Đặc Biệt (Phở Special). The broth is rich and comforting, loaded with beef meatballs, eye-round steak, brisket, flank, fatty brisket, soft tendon, and tripe. It's one of those bowls that hits every note and keeps me coming back. A nice bonus is their house sauces. They're so good that they actually sell them, and you can even find them at local grocery markets nearby, which says a lot about how popular they are. If you're looking for consistently great Vietnamese food in Beaverton with solid service and a clean, modern atmosphere, Tan Tan Cafe & Delicatessen is an easy recommendation.
