Good for the uninitiated. Bun bo hue is a noodle soup that is deeply complex, aromatic and briny due to the lemongrass, spices and fermented shrimp paste. I came in during the lunch rush on friday and man was it packed. It was so packed that 2 elderly men invited me to their spare seat which is what the Vietnamese community is all about! The service was OK, they were swamped but I did not receive a menu. Thats alright cause I knew I wanted their special anyway. I would have gotten a drink if I knew what they had though. The wait was a little longer but the conversation with my group was nice. They ended up getting their bun bo hue first but they forgot to bring all the leaves cabbage etc for the fixings. They ended up asking twice to 3 times but they were already almost all done by the time the sides came. We all agreed the soup was OK, it wasnt spicy nor alot of flavors were really in there for traditional bun bo hue. BUT, they did get the toppings right! They had the pork knuckle, the pig blood and the sliced loaf which you typically see in the traditional offering. Overall it was a good expierence but paying a ok dish for a price of mid 20s is a hefty ask.

I was really excited to try this new spot since bún bò Huế is one of my favorite Vietnamese dishes. The location is interesting, right between Tan Tan and Pho Oregon, and the space itself is bright and welcoming despite being on the smaller side. The menu is concise, with just three main items plus drinks, which made me hopeful they were focusing on doing a few dishes really well. My husband ordered the G1 Ghien Special, and I ordered the G2 (BBH Sườn Bò). The broth was flavorful and had a nice depth to it. Unfortunately, the beef rib was quite tough and difficult to get off the bone. We had to ask for forks to help separate the meat, and even then it was still a bit hard to chew. It made the experience a little less enjoyable than I had hoped. Overall, I truly wanted to love this place and think it has potential, especially because the broth was strong. I would be open to trying it again and hope the meat texture improves over time.

We came here last week for lunch as were curious to check out a new bbh place in town. It was nice to see that they had a lunch crowd, but also bad that it took awhile to get our food (over half an hour). The Ghien Me drink (iced coffee with black sesame cream was good. We both ordered the beef ribs bbh. It was a bit a challenge to eat the beef of the ribs as it was a bit hard to get the meat off the bone. The broth was ok, but i felt it could use something to it. I think it may be due to that they are newer and still figuring things out and will try to check them out again another time.

Ghien tron cay. Basically a dry noodle bbh with a massive side of bbh broth and meats!

Ghien's food menu is simple as their speciality is bun bo hue. There are 4 items: 3 bun bo hue bowls with different cuts of meat and one dry noodle option. I tried the dry noodle dish and wow was it a great deal. I didn't expect to get a massive bowl of broth with the pork knuckle, beef shank, pork loaf and herbs. The dry noodle dish itself was reminiscent of bbh because it had all the same components with a special sauce coating on top. I enjoyed throwing in the meats from the soup so I could eat everything together. My bf got the regular bbh and it was delicious as well. It's probably the best bbh you can get on the west side. The broth is on the sweeter side so be sure to add the spicy chili oil they give you on the for the true experience.

We came in around noon on Memorial Day and were seated pretty quickly. There were lots of other tables. It immediately smells like homemade bún bò huế. We were given water, had our order taken, and food came out within ten minutes. Other than that, you'd have to call someone if you needed anything. We ordered the regular bún bò huế as friends had told us the special wasn't worth it, as well as the dry noodles, which came with a big bowl of broth (everything but the noodles)! The dry noodles aren't hyped enough, but they were really good! Perfect flavour. I'd say the bún bò huế tasted good, but I wish there was more. I also had to pour in all of the side spice they give to get that signature spicy flavour. Overall, I think the price is steep compared to what you receive, however I love the inclusion of all of the different meats (pork blood, knuckle, different types of chả lụa -- though only one of each).

New Vietnamese Noodle Soup Spot, with great flavor and traditional made, you know something gotta be good when you see elders eating traditional culture cuisine. Great drink/tea selection to choose from, Small corner restaurant with a welcoming vibe. Service felt family oriented, attentive, and welcoming. Recommend especially if you are a soup lover and not afraid of different meat selection such as tendon, or pork blood cake.

    Inedible hunk of meat.

I hope they know how to cook Bún Bò Huế. No flavor, tasteless, expensive, and want to pay in cash. Never come back!

We got lucky and pulled into the last open spot. There were a good amount of people inside but we were seated right away. They have a little shop area in the front that was super cute too. Their menu is pretty large but in the best way. There's literally something for everyone from spring rolls to pho to banh mi. My friend and I each got our own DIY spring roll set and I got a cup of beef pho broth with an order of rice noodles to make a mini bowl of pho for myself on the side. The spring roll set comes with 4 sheets of rice paper, fresh veggies (lettuce, basil, cucumber, pickled carrots), rice noodles, your choice of protein (we chose pork sausage), and dipping sauce. The pho broth was flavorful and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The spring rolls came out amazing and were so filling. My only suggestion would be to have the carrots shredded instead of sliced to get a more even distribution within the spring rolls. But overall it was a fantastic meal. I definitely recommend giving it a try!

Results- - Canned (not fresh) peaches used in drink. This may have caused weird aftertaste that does not have that familiar peach flavor like other places. - Flavor is way too sweet for 50%. - Light ice was done correctly When I walked away I quickly realized that they did not add my crystal boba toppings to my drink. I just had a few slices of lemons. After walking back to let them know, the girl who prepared my drink admitted to the guy that I questioned the issue about that she forgot to add it. No apologies from the girl directly and it was passive but only from the guy whom I mentioned the issue to. They have a lot of young kids working here and it looks like they work fast but they need to read the ingredients to fulfill the order correctly and to be consistent. I may give this place another try but will be sorely disappointed if they miss the mark again. (FYI- This exact location used to be Nobibi which quickly went downhill and this new business took over.)

The place fills up nicely so that you feel like you have the privacy of being in a crowd without it feeling crowded. The food is beautiful and I really love the dishware they use here. Overall the service was satisfactory, nothing really to write home about either way. That being said I would have liked the food to be a bit more substantial for the prices. The pricing felt a bit high for what was served both in terms of substance and quantity. A final minor note is that I consider calling the Turmeric Fries "fries" a bit misleading considering that they are most definitely chips and that was more than a little disappointing when they came out.

Both the cocktails and food were ridiculously good. They far exceeded our expectations going into the meal. We had the grand biryani, the vegan samosas, and the Burmese chicken curry. Every food dish blew my socks off, especially the curry. I would recommend, however, that they add a chili symbol to the grand biryani because it was actually quite spicy. In fact, the people next to us had to send it back because it was far too spicy, but not advertised as such. The amount of chicken in the grand biryani was spectacular and the portion was very large. Definitely worth the price tag on it. I also highly recommend the lychee lemon drop and the Burma blue cocktails. As another couple near us said, "everything was great except for the service". It's not that the people weren't friendly, it was just slow and very odd. It took 25 minutes for my wife and I to get our drinks. And had the couple next to us not reminded the server of the beer they ordered, they never would have received it. We never got our silverware and had to ask for that after receiving our food. Additionally, our neighbors ordered their entrees before us, yet we received our full order (the same exact order) before they did. We had 4 different servers over the course of the meal and I truly had no idea who was supposed to be our primary waiter and it seemed like none of them knew what was going on at the tables. The guy who took our orders at the beginning of the meal came by 15 minutes after we'd finished eating and our table had been cleared to ask if we ever received our meals (75 minutes after we'd been seated). This was on Valentine's Day so on less busy nights maybe things would be better. Altogether, my biggest recommendations for management would be to have 1 server take care of their own tables to ensure consistency/flow, and ensure that the menu more accurately reflects what is provided (add appropriate spice symbols).
