I've been coming to Pho Nguyen for decades now. Their chicken pho and vermicelli dishes are my favorites and go-to's. They redesigned their restaurant a while ago. It's a neighborhood comfort food staple. Please check them out!

Drove 45 minutes out of my way to try this place and was served (meaning, steaming hot food in front of me) after 2 minutes! I ordered a simple chicken pho and was on the hunt for quality broth, which I thought was delish. It was lunch time but it was fairly quiet, even as people continued to come in, as it's just one big room. Excited to come back anytime I'm in the mood for filling, delicious pho. Thank you!

On a recent trip to Portland, we stopped in for some rainy day comfort food. They have an extensive menu but we were after the pho. There's one pho vegetarian option, P21, which features the typical rice noodles, with soft tofu, broccoli, carrots, cabbage and the typical plate of Thai basil, bean sprouts and raw jalapeños. It comes in a fairly large bowl at $17.25, or a smaller bowl for $16.25. The price is the same for their multiple other pho offerings that include beef or chicken. My friend enjoyed the P20, called chicken noodle. The broth was flavorful and the veggies crisp and fresh, though I would have preferred more vegetables and less tofu, which was cut into large, bland chunks. My friend said the chicken noodle pho was tasty. The staff was friendly and efficient, and our soup was served quickly. The dining room has a clean, quiet ambiance, and the restrooms are clean. Parking is available in their strip center lot, so you can get in and out quickly. They also package food for pickup. If I come here again, I'll likely try one of their specialty seafood noodle soups, which look heartier and are similarly priced at $19.00. Seemed a bit steep to pay $35 plus tip for two bowls of pho with just water to drink. I'd rate them 3-1/2 stars based on this first visit.

Pho Nguyen is a family favorite for authentic pho and other Vietnamese dishes. The food is delicious and great quality. Their portion sizes are really generous and are reasonably priced. The service is friendly as well. This is the spot I recommend to anyone looking for a good pho restaurant on the west side.

This is our new favorite place to have Pho! It's a bit of a drive from Hillsboro but it's so worth it! Besides the clean and flavorful broth, the portions are very generous with their meat and noodles. We also had the fried egg rolls, which were tasty. However, I do not recommend the salted lemonade which was way too sweet that I could not drink it. Service was fast, but not very welcoming, but overall we enjoyed the food which made up for it.

Fast pho. Old town, old decor, has not changed in years. Just the background sounds of slurps. Good portion. Vegetable Pho was just broccoli? Broth was not piping hot, egg noodles underdone. Service ~ quick, abrupt, want you in and want you out. Pricey. Maybe too fast.

The pho is the best in Portland. The portions, the flavor, the consistency. 1000/10. I come here every week. Service is rapid fast. The restaurant is family owned and operated. The place is always clean and inviting.

My friend got the noodles with crispy chicken and mushrooms, and those were phenomenal. The Vietnamese platter would honestly make a perfect date-night meal. This has great variety and fun to share. The fries and wings were flavorful appetizers and a great way to start the meal. Service was great overall, but a bit hands-off after the food was served. I don't remember anyone checking back in on us. Nothing was wrong with the food, but it would've been nice to have that quick follow-up. Would definitely come back, especially to check out their brunch next time.

If you are looking for fresh, flavorful, and satisfying comfort food, do not walk--run to this spot. To get the full experience, we ordered a variety, and every single item was a hit. We started with the Beef Pho, and the broth was the absolute star. It was rich, aromatic, and deeply savory, clearly simmered for hours. It was the perfect dish on a sunny Portland day. We also grabbed a Chicken Banh Mi. The bread had that perfect crispy crust with a soft, airy crumb, and the chicken was grilled to perfection with fresh veggies and herbs. Of course, we had to wash it all down with a creamy, sweet Thai Tea--it was delicious and the perfect end to the meal. Beyond the food, the vibe is great. It's a super clean, casual spot with big windows letting in lots of natural light. It's set up for quick counter service, which makes it perfect for a fast lunch downtown, but the staff is so friendly and welcoming that you feel right at home. It's a family-run business, and you can taste the passion in the food. Highlights: · The Pho Broth: Seriously some of the best in the city. · The Banh Mi: Fresh bread, great fillings. · The Service: Fast, efficient, and incredibly kind. Pro Tip: Don't forget to grab your own utensils and sauces (the chili crisp is a must for the pho), and help yourself to the free self-serve hot tea. It's the little touches like that which make this place a winner. I am already planning my next trip back to try the Crispy Pork Belly. Highly recommend

Positives: fresh, well made, very flavorful proteins. Cons:…read morePrice I tried Cuon for the first time and enjoyed it. I went for a Vermicelli bowl where you get to pick 2 proteins. I selected Pork Belly (their specialty) and lemongrass chicken. The bowl itself is standard Vietnamese fare, nothing special, creative or exciting in that sense. That said, the ingredients tasted fresh and the proteins were very well seasoned and cooked. The pork belly skin had an awesome crunch and you can clearly taste the lemongrass in the chicken. The included spring roll had nice crunch but little flavor. Unfortunately, outside of Pho, Banh Mi and Noodle Bowls, there's sadly not much else to the menu. No Vietnamese salads, stir frys, etc. Either way, what they do make, they seem to make quite well. So, on to my main issue ie, that for a place thats only open for lunch, the prices are a bit too high. I noted about $16 for a Banh Mi sandwich, no sides. Pho was around $20 and my noodle bowl was about $20 as well. Weirdly, its about the same prices as eating lunch back home in Miami, a FAR more expensive city in general. In fact, I've often had more exciting Vietnamese in Manhattan for lower prices. So while its easy to recommend Cuon on quality, its not a top recommendation for lunch value in the PDX which is why Im docking 1 star.
