    Super Jerk Sandwich ... YUM
    Erber D.

This isn't so much a "deli" as it is a "specialty sandwich" shop. But it does NOT disappoint. They are known for their Caribbean offerings, most famous of which is their different beef patty sandwich creations, which come with mac & cheese and your desired meat selection. I tried the jerk chicken mac patty, which was as delicious as it was messy. It all comes wrapped within a coco bread, perfect for soaking up those late night alcoholic drinks. The service is pretty helpful and which depending on how busy it is, and if you can't wait to eat there is a table that may or may not be occupied inside. I only wish there were other "regular deli" options here, but that's not what you come here for. I will certainly be coming back anytime I'm in the area because it'll be hard to pass up even if I've already eaten!

How often does that happen? The amazing sandwich I've seen multiple times on social media turned out to taste exactly like I hope it would. Datz is not a deli per se, but more like a small sandwich shop focused on a limited product. BB

Datz came across my timeline several times, but I just needed a minute because I didn't have a taste for oxtails. Well TA-day I did! So I headed down to the Lower East Side to see what it was hittin' for. The place is small, and a bit tight. You place your order and step out onto the sidewalk to wait for your order. I got the daddy of the mac patties, the oxtail. I thought it would be heavy, but it actually wasn't. The oxtail was tender and spicy, but I'm not sure if the actual spice was coming from the oxtail or the beef patty. Surprisingly, the Mac & cheese blended well with the beef patty and the oxtail. I liked the flavor and the freshness of the coco bread. It was a good sandwich. I'd recommend you give it a try. 4/5 Til we eat again...

We were wondering around LES and decided to finally try this spot. When we entered we were greeted warmly by Bobby, the chef. We got the oxtail and goat sandwiches which were absolutely delicious as he promised they would be. I can't wait to try the stew chicken one. Shoutouts to Bobby aka my fellow Barb

We came here on a Friday night around 7pm looking for a quick dinner. We arrived and it's a small store. There is a counter to order and one table with seating (there is an outlet also) and 3 metal bar stools. There is not a lot of room here for alot of people. We wanted to order a jerk chicken sandwich with a chicken patty with Mac and cheese on the side. Despite what is written, adding Mac and cheese to their meal deals cost extra. They actually ran out of chicken and beef patties when we arrived and therefore could not give us a sandwich that we were hoping to order. In return the lady at the counter said we can get a little bit of Mac and cheese without paying extra (she gave very little not a full sides worth) which was nice but also somewhat disappointing. As for the jerk chicken over rice itself. The rice and the collard greens were quite unflattering to be honest. Not much flavor. The rice with beans was not bad just felt a bit bland to me. The jerk chicken itself was some of the better jerk chicken I have tried. They did not hold back on the spices and it was quite spicy which I do appreciate. They have quite a lot of quantity, I could not finish my whole meal. Although I didn't think this meal was spectacular, for 18 dollars it's quite alot of food. The Mac and cheese was great and would recommend paying extra for it, as it a major upgrade over the rice. Overall, solid meal, great jerk chicken but sides can use more flavoring.

Gas; this spot never fails with good late night eats! We grabbed 2 jerk chicken beef patty sandwiches. Only half filled me; they're generous with the meat. We got the sandwiches quick and hot ready to eat. Parking was good at the time I went so we were able to eat right outside on our car but there's a bench outside the spot to sit & eat.

If it's not a local favorite it should be the jerk chicken Mac n cheese patty is EVERYTHING . The service is always fast and nice. I actually like the decorations as well of the place for it to be so small . Not a spot u can sit and eat but you definitely have to try anything from this spot

We found Datz Deli on Instagram and had to try the Jamaican patty oxtail sandwich and boy did it taste better than advertised. The flavors in this sandwich will leave you wants more but you are too full to eat another one. The blend of Mac and cheese, beef patty, oxtail and gravy in a sandwich and the bread isn't soggy is something everyone should experience. It's a nice hole in the wall spot with great service and family vibes. Recommend for sure

Delicious Delicious Delicious! A bus ride away from mid town. I think the owner took my order, very nice and friendly, i must say. I got the Kendra. Delicious! I already get my patties done like this , but to add mac n cheese is bussin' !! He gave me extra gravy.. and I was happy! The portions are big! I'll be back!

I always wanted to try datz deli but their lines were too long at smorgasburg. Luckily I bumped into it on my way from getting bubble tea. I figure I get the original viral meal; beef patty mac and cheese coco bread. It was about $18 the service was ok the staff is fairly polite etc. besides patties datz deli sells a small selection of sea moss, drinks and snacks. Anyhow I liked the decor very artsy well out and bright . Ok so the party tasted slightly sweet I think I tasted tamarind. I asked for light Mac and cheese because I didn't want to be too full. The meal is actually good to share . It was tasty. It was super savory I might come back for the jerk chicken .

Note to self - no more viral overpriced food. The idea of oxtail, mac and cheese, and extra gravy on a patty sounds mouthwatering, but as they say "everyone's so creative these days!". $32 for two patties, one oxtail mac & one curry chicken, made my heart hurt. The taste just didn't measure up to the hype built up by the viral videos. For the price I'd rather get 10 delicious patties at my local hole in the wall spot. I just can't recommend Datz.

Our Server, Ramon, did an exceptional job. The staff did a great job at clearing finished items and everyone's timing was spot on. We started with the Tostones Rellenos con picadillo (Green plantains stuffed with ground beef). This was a great starter. Large enough to share and I enjoyed the drizzled sweet sauce and whole olives. Our entrees were: Palomilla Steak Platter (thin cut sirloin steak) and the Ropa Vieja (shredded flank steak). Both dishes were accompanied by white rice and we chose black beans and a side salad. This was the first time that I've seen Palomilla Steak presented totally cut into strips and it was a welcomed sight. The Ropa Vieja was perfectly seasoned and the amount of meat was thoroughly enjoyed. I capped off the meal with a Cortadito (A cortado is a Spanish coffee beverage consisting of equal parts espresso and warm, lightly steamed milk. Walked into Margon Restaurant in Midtown and instantly felt like I found one of NYC's secret cheat codes. Small space, big flavors, zero nonsense. The kind of place where you're elbow-to-elbow with strangers but everyone's united by one thing... serious hunger. Ordered the Cuban sandwich -- pressed, crispy, loaded with roast pork, glazed ham, Swiss, pickles, and mustard. One bite in and I stopped talking... which never happens. This thing didn't just deliver... it showed up early and over-prepared.
