Beautiful restaurant and a great place to celebrate! I had lunch with a friend on this day. It was priced extremely reasonable and a treat with a beautiful view. I always love the tuna poke and sometimes have it as an appetizer for dinner, it's on the menu for lunch and was delicious as usual. I will definitely put this on my lunch rotation. My first time at the top of the old First National Bank building since college in the 80's when it was the Bienville Club, the views are still stunning and the memories of attending sorority formals was strong. Lunch was very nice and the prices extremely reasonable ranging from about $10 to $13. Very good complimentary bread and two butters to start. I am trying to eat a little healthier so eschewed the fried options and opted for the grilled dolphin which came with a shrimp sauce, yellow rice with black beans and grilled squash. Definitely a good value and quite tasty. Hard to beat for a business lunch. I will be back. read more

I've been struggling with giving this restaurant the deserved 3 Stars for our experience and have been trying to find any reason to eek out another star or two, mostly just to justify dressing up and the price, but I'm just going to be honest; our visit was disappointing. Ok, why are we waiting in this seating area again? There wasn't a cocktail waitress or any real purpose for the wait. We were seated at a lovely table, and again, things seemed promising. The servers were well trained on fine dining, but not skilled on timing. They spent most of their time on setting the various tables and ACTING the part, more than DOING the part. Being a service oriented fine dining server is a skill that rarely exists anymore. And believe me, when you're expecting a FINE DINING EXPERIENCE, and you're paying these prices, you don't just want a chick to plop a meal on your table. More disappointing was the food. The oysters were ok, but not impressive. My lobster was overcooked and served with dead sprouts on top, and some pasty rice dish, even though the menu said it was served with mashed potatoes. I brought it to their attention, and all that was said was, "oh sorry, ran out." My crème brulée was a pound of tasteless crème and not much brulée. The environment was pretty, but some people, including the staff were dressed in casual track gear. And the music? Thumbs way down. We actually wished we were rich enough to pay them to stop playing. The whole experience was like a poorly acted play, with not enough substance. I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt that this was a one off, but I wouldn't rush back. At first was pleased as we were seated fairly quickly without a reservation. Put in our order and are brought biscuits and plates for an appetizer. One of the plates brought to us had food crumbs on it. We couldn't find our waitress, so we asked another waiter for help, but were never brought another one. We get our food. I ordered the 'Eggs-Al-Bama'. The hash browns were cold and seemed like it had been heated up in a microwave. I called our waitress over and told her. She pauses, then gets one of the appetizer plates off the table and proceeds to grab the hash browns off my plate with her bare hands. Her reasoning for this was, "To show the kitchen staff." I was appalled, as I've never in my life has someone grab the food off my literal plate before. This was my first and last visit to Dauphin's. read more

Our Company had a group dinner at Dauphins on 1.27.21. I have dined out there many times and recommended this restaurant to our vendor for this event. Sad to say this was the worst meal and presentation that I have seen in a high-end meal in quite a while. The Mahi was over cooked and had a old fish taste that was bland. The Topping presentation was sloppy and lacked seasoning. The Beef Tips looked like someone poured a can of Beef Stew from the Piggly wiggly and warmed it up. I was embarrassed as I had suggested this establishment over others. I do not submit these comments lightly just to bash a restaurant. The comments I have submitted are a culmination of 25 others that dined as well. This has been a favorite of mine since it has opened, but last night has made me reconsider future bookings at this dining destination. read more

Wow. Dauphin's was an amazing choice for date night. As soon as we stepped off the elevator, the ambiance welcomed us. The male host commented on how beautiful we were and that really touched our hearts. As soon as we were seated, we were able to view the skyline..it left us speechless. After visiting Dauphin's for lunches and numerous happy hours, my family and I decided to try Dauphin's for Sunday brunch to celebrate Easter and a birthday. Having only tried their lunch menu until today, their Sunday brunch was probably my most favorite menu. Their $5 mimosas are delicious and their homemade bloody mary is a must try! I started the meal by ordering the poke tuna for the table. It was served on a bed of jasmine rice and cucumbers. The tuna was fresh, flavorful, and amazing! Even the picky eaters at the table tried it and loved it. We also had bites of the crawfish crab cake, pork belly, and beignets. We had two really great servers (I would give a shout out, but I'm terrible at remembering names) that really made the meal enjoyable with small talk and jokes. We ended the meal with creme brûlée, which is consistently amazing on every visit! I was very impressed with their brunch today, which made me think I should try their dinner menu in the near future. read more

It's ok. I got poke and the fried seafood plate. The rice was not fully cooked so it was a little bit hard. The fried seafood had a huge amount of the breading and the taste was slightly below average compared to my favorite similar meals that would normally be cheaper. I had to peel the breading off of most of it because it was making me sick halfway through (I always do this with heavily fried food and knew what I was ordering). It wasn't bad but it wasn't quite what I would expect if I'm paying $80 for a meal. I'm sure you're paying for the scenery, but I went at night and the glare kept me from actually seeing outside (could be fixed with a wall screen or beaded curtains or something) and I'd still expect a high quality meal for $80 and no leftovers. The server was nice. Not much for vegans or vegitarians. EDIT: I am more picky for the more I pay but I realized my review sounded much more negative than I meant for it to. It was my first time there. We got sat near the windows. I had to walk over to check out the scenery. It really does have the best view of Mobile bay and downtown. I ordered Flounder strips for lunch and got the squash and fries as sides. All of my food was delicious. Dauphins, a Thursday evening. Dauphins is 33 floors above sea level. The wait staff is a honed, carefully trained in southern charm, Alabama ladies. Sweetheart is uttered as often as one might hear would buy on the floor of the stock market. It's hard not order the shrimp and grits in such a place. The blend of cajun country ambiance is benefited by a musician playing the hits from thirty years back. The 70s and 80s I think. The Eagles and Jimmy Buffet are a part of his set. Later on a singer was added and Whitney Houston songs drifted through the air. Mobile, Alabama lays 500 feet or more below my feet. I can see everything, well, everything to the southeast. Every part of Mobile laid bare. Industry, present but not intrusive. The cruise industry docking, leaving, cruising. The Federal courthouse, the first public school in Alabama, some dome that I have no explanation for... all of it lays below, within sight. As I comment on the lovely view, a lovely lady comes to the window beside me. She takes out her phone to snap a photo. The scenery below would smile if it could, knowing it was described in the terms she uses. I can't be mad at her, I took a few pictures myself. She apologizes profusely for being in my space. I infer strongly that she's welcome to stay. The Menu is easy, two pages, I have to admit, I find it hard to not order the Shrimp and grits. I'm in Alabama after all. I can't bring myself to forgo the Filet my first time in any restaurant. Filet it is. No appetizers, though several are recommended and sound delicious. I'm just having water. This is a celebration, just not that kind. No booze tonight. I hear conversations about business to the right, a lovely couple with an anniversary to the left, behind a poor fellow meeting the family for the first time. All of them dressed to impress. The word Airbus is bantered about in both directions. The new FAL is a boon for Mobile, 400 new jobs, more economy always seems good. I hear $15 Million is the price Mobile has set aside to get the $330 Million, 400-person facility located here. The gentleman behind me is sitting for the Bar tomorrow. I imagine this is a place where you could meet a lawyer, any day of the week. Enough of the nonsense, let's talk about food. My salad arrived a simply adorned mix of leafy greens, two slices of tangerine and chipped melon. So far, so good. The bread arrives not warm, but the carefully crafted spreads make up for any failing. The waitress informs me the smoked pesto pecan spread offers a light smokey finish, while the hibiscus coconut adds both a floral scent and delicate taste that would bring me back to the restaurant by itself. The main course arrives, Filet Mignon, potatoes and roasted string beans. None of it disappoints. The filet is graced by a black pepper coating, some spice I can't precisely name. Saffron maybe? Does anyone know what saffron tastes like? I find, when I can't say precisely what I'm tasting, but I enjoy it immensely, it's likely saffron. Moving on to the string beans, an interesting articulation of southern charm in a dinner infused with class. I'm honestly not a fan of anything green. I prefer to let the animal eat the vegetable so I can claim the right of second hand vegetarian as I savor the meat. These string bean may be the best green thing I've ever eaten. I'm almost certain it was soaked in butter because it melts in my mouth. It's more likely, however, that it was steamed perfectly. Mashed Potatoes and Onion Straws... I don't eat onions. OK I try not to. It's not that I'm not a fan of the taste, more so, I'd rather not live through the lack of fresh breath. The potatoes are creamy, skin included, melt in your mouth carbo-loading festival of taste. The skin is thin enough it doesn't intrude on the texture. Overall these potatoes are a win. Generally speaking, I would let an animal eat the potato first, but I feel like I deserve the carbs today. OK, I tasted one of the onion straws. If heaven had a name it would be onion straw. Thank you for that. No dessert for me tonight. Dauphins goes down as a nearly perfect meal. I'll be back, and next time, I'll be more adventurous. The last little treat is a smoking bon bon. I know right, chocolate coated peppermint ice cream in a silver bowl with dry ice giving off a smoky finish. I give it 4.5 stars for the simple reason I don't do five. I never have. Dauphins almost got me there. For the special occasion, that special someone in your life, give it a try. read more

We came here for brunch with some friends on a Sunday brunch at 11:00. First off they would not let us make a reservation and said they were booked but we could come and eat in the front lounge area. We got there at 11:00 and no one was there whatsoever. Hannah was our waitress. She was not great. We all ordered. I ordered the chicken and waffles. It comes with 2 eggs. The menu does say they come sunny side up. She didn't say anything and didn't ask if that was ok or if i wanted them another way .....as they would do in almost every other restaurant ever......but i forgot to order otherwise since I don't like them runny. When they came out I asked if that was normal. She said," you didn't say anything." Obviously she could tell that I wasn't pleased but didn't offer to correct or do anything. A good waitress would have said, "I'll put you in 2 more eggs how would you like them done? "Ya know? The chicken had great flavor but the waffles were cold and hard. Literally egos would have been better. So of my 14.00 entree, I ate 2 small pieces of chicken thigh. Now a great waitress .....IMO would see a 250 lb man and notice that he didn't eat the waffles and the eggs remained on the plate and only ate the 2 small pieces of chicken and know something is wrong. She didn't ask nor seemed to care. I'm not the guy to send things back but I probably should have. My wife said hers was great. I was not impressed. It is a great view and the saxophone player was great but I'll be spending my 60.00 elsewhere next brunch. We have Eaten here for dinner many times and have bought gift cards and such for business and had anniversary dinners here.....but this trip ......Very disappointed. read more

Went for lunch. View is great but so was the waitress and the food. Cuban BBQ pork was outstanding. The special of the day was the pot roast but it was the pork that should have been the highlight. The broccoli slaw was amazing as well. It was tender and slightly sweet. The absolute best part of the meal was the creme brûlée. I would go back again just to eat it! Perfection on a plate! This review is for brunch. You dine here for the view, though the service is exceptional and the food is known to be some of the best in Mobile. VIEW: there isn't a bad seat in the house! Even on an over cast day the view was beautiful. Also the décor is nice, especially in the bar area. PRO TIP - out of one of the windows you can see the navy ships when they're docked. FOOD: everything was very good, though you can spend more money than you realize until you're presented the bill. Everyone ordered something different, and everyone enjoyed their meal. The entrees are a good enough size that most people had something left over if they ordered a soup or appetizer to start. The food is good, but I was still surprised by the bill in comparison of the cost. DRINKS: The Bloody Mary bar is a treat. The mimosas and poinsettias are cheap, but not super worth it. I don't know if it was the juice used, or the champagne chosen; they just weren't for me. PRO TIP for Tourists - I was unaware of the "no liquor until after noon" rule. No wonder the restaurant was practically empty until 11:45; ha! It was a sight to behold at 12:00 though - every table preordered their drinks, and every server was walking out with a tray of drinks before 12:01. SERVICE: in the best way the service is simply what you would expect from this type of high end restaurant. You want for nothing and yet you're not bothered. Checks are split and food requests are meant without an eye roll or attitude. There are people to smile at you from every direction and point you to the restroom. Overall very pleased with the service. PRO TIP for Tourists & Parking - Yes there is free parking in the parking garage, BUT the parking garage is the worst design I've ever seen. Ever. If you're in a large truck, you might want to use the street or other parking options. If you're close enough to walk, skip the parking all together and walk. Ambiance was excellent!! View amazing. Server pretty good with the exception that she never brought the water we asked for twice and after bringing food we only saw her when it was time to check out. I thought I'd have to get a petition signed just to get dressing for my salad after the lady brought it to me and clearly had an issue with me requesting dressing (literally told me it's already there) as if I can't see and taste for myself. I begged her and she finally brought it. Couldn't score a bag for our take out and the food came 1hour after the order was placed even though there were only 4 other ppl in the restaurant at the time. Those 4, who by the way came in 45 minutes after us, we're served before we were. I'd say the most disappointing thing was by the time the food came, it was cold- so we packed it to take home. Called in for a reservation, but was told it was full. We went anyway as I was the birthday girl and wasn't going to take no for an answer. Everyone here was so polite and welcoming! We were greeted and seated right away and our waiter was very fun and knowledgeable. The beautiful, elegant interior and live piano music was delightful! We had a very pleasant experience from the staff to management. Loved the diversity of the menu which included gator and dolphin. Definitely tried them and loved them. However, my absolutely favorite bite of the night was the hibiscus butter-amazing! I could eat it EVERY day! The drinks were divine and view was absolutely stunning from the 34rd floor. As if our night wasn't already great enough, we were told about this speakeasy in the basement. Of course we went and loved the vibe of being taken back to Cuba and appreciated the history. It was very reminiscent of a pre-prohibition joint for real. There was live entertainment here as well, but more jazz and funk flair. Again, very chic and dapper. We had good drinks, nice service and the chef even accommodated my dessert order. It is really nice to see restaurants of this quality and caliber in Mobile right now. Five stars across the board. This was my 1st visit since it was Bienville Club, starting about 47 years ago (ouch). The space/decor was gorgeous, and the view has definitely changed over the decades. There was a musician (brunch) who played lovely music without being too loud. The service was absolutely perfect, except for our meals coming out at different times. Our table of four shared the oysters as an appetizer. Delish! All of us enjoyed our meals. It was difficult for me to find something that was diabetic-friendly on the menu. The chef substituted my potatoes and grits for char-grilled Brussels. They rocked! I had a seafood omelet and it was great. The biscuits (a huge no-no for me but I did pinch a piece) were about as good as a biscuit can be. My only reason for withholding a star (and that may go up on my next visit) is that, as usual, the portions were way, way too big. My omelet probably had 4 eggs to compose it and that is a crazy amount of food. I could have easily shared it with 2 other people. Use the valet parking. There is a Pollman's on the lower level (open weekdays) although I hear Dauphin's cheesecake is not to be missed. I will come back, but will split a meal or ask chef to downsize me.Looking forward to going back! (BTW the Bloody Mary bar was quite tempting..). read more

Helpful ready to please servers. Food is elegent modern and very tasty. A special of eggplant stuffed with seafood was outstanding. Side dishes are in small square bowls. Blackbeanss and squash weww particuly good. Prices are high but reasonable for fine dining. MMany special events so check their website. extremely mediocre and disappointing. this was my first time at dauphins and i went for lunch. the menu says that there are sidewinder fries and i was served potato wedges i know it sounds petty, but don't put it on the menu if you don't have it! service wasn't up to the par i expected for a "casual fine dining" place either. my coworker ordered her sandwich w no pickles and she knew they just took it to the back and took the pickles off bc she could still taste it on the bun. they offered to replace her sandwich, but everyone else already had had their food for a bit bc hers was in the back getting "fixed". seems like they're cutting corners like every restaurant has the past few years. the view is nice though. Dropped in solo and was greeted like a party of four by Tracy. I decided to try the shrimp cocktail for my appetizer. The shrimp were HUGE, very fresh with a tangy dipping sauce. It was a tough choice for my entre between several daily specials but I chose the Mobile Bay Stew... which is a cross between a cioppino and jambalaya. Freakin awesome! They should sell this dish in stores. The views are a plus but the ambience and service are only exceeded by the food and service. Pricey but worth it for the value. Go here! read more
