I ordered the two chicken strip meal. The seasoning was pretty good and it came with fries, a piece of bread and a drink. The strips vary in size since we ordered multiple meals and there was no consistency, just the luck of the draw so if you are pretty hungry just order an extra tender on the side. Horrible experience, ordered the loaded fries and waited about 20mins, then when my number is called they wait to tell me they have no cutlery so I ask how do i eat my meal? With my hands? The female worker's response was "yeah" while she shrugged her shoulders. I decide to ask for a return instead because it was going to be too messy to eat with my hands. So upon asking for a refund she just got it and threw my meal away in the trash and turned to the kitchen. So I asked if I can order something else and upon taking my order, since the two sliders with fries cost more, I had to pay a difference. So she rang me up for a single tender instead at 4.99 when my difference was 3.99 so on top of the horrible experience, I still paid an extra $1. When my order was ready, she just called my number and when I walked up to the counter, she just dropped it on the counter, while she has been serving all other orders to the customers' hands. I've been wanting to try this place for a while now and I wish I could give it 5 stars. The 2 stars are for the experience. I ordered a chocolate milkshake for my daughter to go with her meal. When I got there to pick up the order. The cashier who handed me the food also handed me the shake and she put it in front of me on the counter and left. When I looked at my shake. It was watery, basically chocolate milk with no shake. I wanted to bring it up to her but she never came back. Almost like she knew and hid from me. Once the other worker acknowledged me , I told him about the milkshake and he inspected the machine. He concluded with, it's not working. He was nice enough to suggest a slushee, which I took still but there's a price difference. Oh well. The food was good though. I visited today (7/14) and enjoyed the delicious food and excellent customer service. However, the lack of air conditioning made the overall temperature inside REALLY uncomfortable. I truly hope the AC gets fixed ASAP not only for the customers but especially for the employees sake! Also, with the sun setting right into the restaurant it would probably be a good idea to put in some window shades to keep the restaurant a little cooler. read more

I was overdue for another Dave's Hot Chicken experience, as my first one was not positive from a food perspective. Comparatively, I get the sense that the price point at Dave's is quite consistent with other hot chicken outfits. Also, the spiffy new Glendale location has very friendly and fast service, so major plaudits there. Unfortunately, that's where most of the positivity ends for me. I opted to try the single medium tender and fries (the unadvertised Dave's #5 combo) and the kale slaw. Right off the bat, I noticed the tender was a rather pale, reddish color, and the seasoning and batter appeared light. Indeed, upon my first bite, the batter was almost more like a dry rub that was lightly dusted on the chicken, and there was literally ZERO crispy element to the tender. Furthermore, I would say the spice was somewhere between mild to negligent. I didn't even have to reach for my cup of water! Notably, I was not provided any Dave's sauce when I dined in, but no big deal, I went up and was happily provided with Dave's sauce and I also asked for honey. The tender with the Dave's sauce and honey together was actually a great bite, but I still lamented the lack of crispiness and spice. The fries? Disappointing. The seasoning was barely present, and was not coating all of the fries. They were slightly crispy, but overall mostly so-so. The kale slaw was room temperature (gross) and very bland. I threw my Dave's sauce and honey in there and it was much better but overall very disappointing. The pickles? The star attraction. Abundant, very crispy and nicely chilled. Overall, I wasn't impressed by my first Dave's experience at the Koreatown location and definitely not my second experience at the new Burbank location. read more
