Dave's NOT Chicken is a life changer for those that don't eat chicken. I am infinitely grateful it was brought back after being offered for the first 1/2 of 2024. This location specifically does a decent job handling orders (both dine-in and online). The cauliflower takes a bit longer, so expect to wait if you order it. The ambiance is nice - this location feels a lot more open and spacious than other ones. The tables are always clean and well-maintained. My go-to order is a cauliflower slider (Hot) with the cauliflower bites (Medium). I crave this constantly and can only hope it stays on the menu permanently this time! -1 star because one employee made a rude comment to me when I was trying to see if my online order was on the shelf (not touching anything, just looking at the receipts) and I was met with "Don't even think about it!" in a really condescending tone. We were in a rush and it was well past the completion ETA, I was just trying to see if our order was even ready. Obviously I wouldn't be touching anyone's bag. They would benefit more from a system like sweetgreen or CAVA where you can just grab your bag and go. Hot and medium were my choices. Fries were limp and warn. Chicken warm. I was mostly disappointed bc the chicken had little crust. I like batter and crust....a lot. These tenders are very thin on the crust side with no crunch. The hot tender was weird bc it had a strong chili powder taste and smell. It was ok, but never seen a tender w that flavor. The hot was really good flavor and heat level. Drinks pricey and meals pricey. Over all just an "ok" chicken concept and attempt. I wouldn't go back even if I had one nearby. So I've enjoyed other hot chicken spots and had to try this one. I ordered the reaper and had to sign a wavier. I ordered the extra hot tenders and medium nuggets. First off the pickles are delicious and crispy. So.yes the reaper had my eyeballs sweating for a min but I was able to recover and for the record I enjoy very spicy foods. My daughter and I love hot chicken so this was just another place to check off the list! I got the hot level chicken tender and slider sandwich, she got medium level slider sandwich. The hot level was good wanted a tad bit more heat to it and her medium she as well craved a bit more heat. The flavoring and the seasonings to the chicken were well. When I found out there was a Dave's Hot Chicken in Texas, I was especially ecstatic to try it since it's not local to Kansas City. We had a very large order and ordered inside and it took no longer than 10 minutes to prepare everything. Now, I know that preparing so much food in that short amount of time could either be a good or a bad thing. I decided to get Dave's #3: Tender and Chicken slider in mild. I think if you have a pretty low spice tolerance - this is very tolerable. I don't have a high spice tolerance and even I think I would go Medium spice level. Now let's actually talk about the food. Slider: VERY filling, I could only finish this out of my entire box. The chicken is very thick cut, wasn't too dry but wasn't juicy by any means. The pickles and slaw added a nice texture to the sandwich. Definitely best fast food chicken sandwich in the game. ADD honey to your sandwich PLEASE.. it adds so much flavor. Tender: Was nice and crispy, slightly dry. Slice of bread that was given was stale and doesn't add to the dynamic. The sauce: Had a very strong mayonnaise taste - I imagine they use this as their base of the sauce.. the sauce was just OK, i could've gone without it. I would rate my overall experience at Dave's a 3.5 but since it's technically considered fast food? 4 stars. Would I go out of my way to get Dave's? Probably not. I got the sliders (add cheese, mild and hot, with cheese fries with honey drizzled on top) Y'all these sliders are not small... at all They are legit sandwiches (& y'all know I loved that!!! The bigger the better) The heat levels ranged from no spice‍ all the way to reaper. I decided to do one mild and one hot slider(that was as far as I was willing to go lol) Sterling had two hot and he said he needed some milk. This is my first review of 2022 and honestly I can't think of a better business for my first review of the year than Dave's Hot Chicken. My wife and I went there for lunch and we both were pleasantly surprised not just for their food but also for their great and friendly service. The menu is very simple: sliders or chicken tenders that go from "no spice" to "reaper", and a few really good and traditional sides like Mac & Cheese, cool slaw and french fries...whatever you choose you are going to like it. Did I mention that they also have beer besides soft drinks and milk shakes? I know that hot Nashville style chicken is right now a big thing...But trust me: This place has its own charm. What a mistake. The bread as a side is a limp piece of white bread. The fries are crinkle cut, not bad. The Mac and cheese, not bad. But the chicken and the tenders it's soooo bad. If you love dry rubs, which I season my chicken in dry rubs all the time but not like this, then you found a great place. I have to rub stuck in my throat so when I coughed it was burning. The Mac and cheese helped the spice. Ranch wasn't anything to help. I threw away half my chicken. 100% would NEVER recommend. read more

Dave's Hot Chicken is apparently a well-known Nashville Hot Chicken restaurant in other cities in the U.S. But I was eager to see if it lived up to the hype and expectations of other Nashville Hot Chicken spots.  Service: As soon as I walked in, I was greeted and welcomed in. They assisted me in ordering from the menu and informed me of what they typically order and the estimated spice level of each flavor. The lady up front was very helpful, kind, and patient with me in ensuring I knew what to order. However, the menu is pretty small and simple. As soon as I ordered my food, it was ready within a few minutes, which is always a plus to get my food quick.  Food: I ordered the Combo 3, as it gives a mix of both the tender and the slider. The portion is fairly good to fill someone up, as it comes with fries, pickles, a slice of bread, and Dave's sauce - Tender (5/10): I got the "hot", but to be honest it was not that spicy to me. The flavor of the tender and seasoning was not there for me. It tasted as if it was just marinated with a dry rub of chili powder. The tender was dry as well, not as moist as you would want a chicken to be.  - Slider (7/10): The slider was probably the better option of the two as it was served with kale slaw, pickles, and sauced up with the Dave's sauce. So it made the flavor stand out more! That Dave's sauce was pretty good, so it made a huge difference when it was poured on top of the chicken in the slider. However, I wish the slider was an actual chicken breast or something. Instead it was a tender inside of the bread. In my opinion, it is not much of a slider.  - Cheese Fries (8/10): I am usually very picky on cheese fries, because it has to be made right. When I saw the fries, I was not amused as it looked like just cheese poured on top of the wrinkle fries. But.... This cheese was hella good!! I am not sure what cheese they used, but I would highly recommend getting these cheese fries! I know some people said the cheese sucks, but for some reason this day the cheese tasted amazing Overall rating. ?i would put this as maybe the 3rd best hot fried chicken in the dfw area. Me and friends decided to go here for lunch after a Saturday morning Trader Joe's run. For my first hot chicken experience it was cool! We went as soon as they opened (11 am) and were the 2nd patrons there. The cashier was super pleasant and was able to explain the menu and all they had to offer. I order the 2 fingers with fries (no salt) with medium heat. My friends ordered the one finger one slider combo and the other ordered 2 slider combo. The sliders were regular size buns! Lol. They mentioned the sliders were better. My combo came with 2 slices of bread which I thought was a nice touch. I will say the seasoning was a tad bit salty but I'm also the person that severely limits their salt intake. The restaurant was really colorful and inviting to dine in. Everything was very clean. For my friends who have had hot chicken, they stated that they've tasted better. However, I did enjoy the flavors and menu. Plus, service was awesome! Overall, I'd give it 4 stars for the fact that the fingers were heavily seasoned (salty) and my friend's order was slightly wrong. I'd definitely say to give it a try! read more

I ordered the "hot" chicken and Dave's did not disappoint. It was hot.. so hot that the taste of chicken was hard to discern. There are two more levels of heat above that, extra hot and reaper. Two tenders may not sound like much, but Dave's tenders are huge, definitely more meat that a four piece box at Cane's. Like a lot of Nashville Hot places, the chicken is drenched in spicy oil (which is good). But at Dave's they go wild with granulated hot and sweet seasonings on top of that. The French fries had a great, spicy flavor. The dining room has a jarring urban feel to it complete with artwork designed to took like graffiti. My favorite Nashville hot is still Helen's in Lewisville. read more

It's rare that food, particularly chicken, tastes better after being microwaved. There is the odd dish or two such as Pakistani Nihari or Japanese Curry but chicken fillets ... well I never! Yet there was my Dave's hot chicken "slider" left over from the day before because the slider is the size of a freakin' samwich, and I am not complaining, sitting before me freshly nuked. The cheese, chicken and sauces sort of melded into each other having gone through a severe radiation bombardment. I steel myself for the first bite and I'll be damned if the reaction wasn't delight! Don't get me wrong, the fresh goods were done just right, but I felt like there was definitely something special about the microwave bite. Similar reaction by better half has reinforced my belief and that's held true for two food runs so far. This is the beginning of a beautiful patronship. So it can't be all honey and roses. What doesn't work? Not a big fan of throwing a tender piece on a bun. The shape of the tender is usually not great with a round bun. I'll put up with it because a lot of places do this and also because the food is good. Also let's face it. One yelp reviewer complaining about it won't make a national fast food chain change it's MO :) On a side note, Mac & Cheese was weak and Kale slaw could use more flavor. Not getting those again. The fires that come with the combo were great. Dave's sauce is nice, kind of a riff on cane's sauce from raising cane. This place if definitely worth a shot for hot chicken lovers. On Friday, November 3, 2023 we ordered a "Hot Box" with fries and 6 sauces. for carry-out. I drove 15 minutes to pick it up and reviewed the order with the man at the counter. He handed me a bag that was tied and taped closed and assured me item by item that everything in my order was included. After driving back home and opening the bag, I discovered that our fries and sauces were NOT included. I called the store and spoke with the manager. He apologized for the mistake and said that the next time I came in the store, our family's meal would be on the house. He said he was putting my name on a bulletin board and that I should tell workers that "Lonnie said our next meal would be complimentary." Today is Saturday, November 18, 2023. I returned to the store with my receipt from the previous order to claim the complimentary meal promised by Lonnie. Upon arrival, I asked for Lonnie. He was there and remembered me. However, he denied the fact that he promised our family a complimentary meal to make up for the error. I reminded him what he told me on our previous phone call, and he simply said he couldn't do that. He then offered to comp $3.49 off the fries and a 10% discount on the "Hot Box". I was expecting a complimentary meal. Instead, our total came out to $43.97. I left the restaurant feeling deceived and frustrated after two disappointing 15-minute drives to and from the restaurant. The lack of integrity in the management is the reason why we will be taking our business elsewhere. There are plenty of other hot chicken places in Dallas. read more

We were able to catch an open table right before our food was ready! The drive thru was crazy that I feel like ordering and receiving inside would have been faster. Now for the chicken- the crispiest chicken I have ever tried! It was AMAZINGLY juicy and seasoning was on point. We tried the hot and mild. The hot was not as spicy as we had expected. We definitely want to give it a shot on the reaper next time since we chickened out this time around. I've been a regular customer at this location, but I've noticed some patterns that concern me. On multiple occasions when I chose not to tip the order taker, my orders were consistently mishandled. Also, do not be brave and get anything above Hot. Your butthole will feel like the devil is exiting through it later on. The heat is severe. Again, here is your second warning. The portions are huge. The flavor of the chicken tenders, which by the way, a ginormous, are delicious and anything above hot will burn your insides. In fact, HOT can also be too hot some days, so I will be going back to the Medium level. Also, get cheese fries.
