I had the opportunity to dine at this establishment with a group of 7 on a Sunday around 4:30. I was looking forward to dining here because I enjoy two key items on the menu: chicken and kabobs. I am not sure if we picked the wrong day or time to dine, as the place was practically empty and the young lady working the register didn't give the impression she wanted to be there, not a smile or a friendly greeting, even though when our group arrived, it was just us in the restaurant. As stated, the place was not that busy; later, they had three tables of customers, including us. Food came out relatively quickly, and the cashier served it. Now, as I said, I was looking forward to my meal. The presentation was great, but the chicken lacked seasoning. It was grilled chicken kabobs with jasmine rice, but the flavor of any seasoning was missing; it tasted just like plain grilled chicken with a sauce on top, nothing unique or distinctive. It was placed on those baby greens, all warm and delicious, wilting the greens just enough and then they were already tossed in that flavorful vinaigrette. I mean it was perfection. Really. I didn't want to finish it. I wanted it to be an endless bowl of a good ol' salad. On the side, my biscuit, came out piping hot with strawberry jam and butter. It was huge! I ended us splitting it. I'm not ALWAYS stingy with my food. I let the butter melt into the biscuit and then slathered the jam on. Every bite was delish. I heard the bowls are good, so I might venture to that side next time. Looking at the menu, I might get the Mac & Chicken Bowl next or channel my inner brunch baby and get the Chicken & Pancakes. We'll see how I feel at that time. If I compare it to a Chikfila sandwich, I think Chikfila's is better, costs less, is faster, and you can buy without getting out of your car. The fries? Not the best, those were a 2/5 for me and it was mostly because of the seasoning on them. I tried some of my friend's potato chips but they were cooked in a style that is not really appealing to me (also a 2/5). That said, this place has a lot more than just chicken sandwiches. They have some interesting bowls and their "Biscuit Sandwiches" sounded tasty and honestly I probably should have ordered one of those instead. As for their offerings food-wise, as implicated earlier, they have a lot of specialty toppings and condiments that attempt to shadow the quality of their central item, the chicken. In their bowls, the chicken was simply laid atop, nearly flavorless and with little hint of seasoning. The sandwiches saw the chicken fall apart, while flavor was supplemented entirely by the toppings; toppings are meant to make the sandwich unique, not completely mask the chicken itself. As for the wings, the sauces and skin fell apart, as the meat of the wings stayed still within my fingers. A higher heat, a more bodied coating or a double fry all present common options to solve this introductory problem. Overall, the food was barely filling, and in the $$ range for a full meal, that's not optimal. Overall, there's a clear lack of roots here. It's understandable to want to stand out from the competition with unique and exotic flavors, but if the bases of all your dishes is lacking, then you've failed to deliver the experience as a whole. There's a definite space for improvement, and the staff here is great, so it seems like there's some growing to do for this restaurant before they become truly great. read more
