The name doesn't lie. The chicken is HOT. we came here on a lunch jaunt when driving past Denver and found it approachable and fast. we had our dog with us and the patio was perfect for us. The portions reflect the cost. I thought it was kinda pricy, but we also had 2 times the food we needed. Could have easily split a #2 and been happy. The flavor is super good on the chicken [and since that is 95% of the menu that is good.] Everyone working there was super kind and helpful. Dave's Hot Chicken has made its way to Denver from the chicken sammich wars in LA, and I'm thrilled to have it. This is a slightly California take on Nashville Hot Chicken, so it's a little less greasy, less peppery, but still packed with flavor like you want it to be. The guy who started Dave's Hot Chicken actually trained at a Thomas Keller fine dining spot #themoreyouknow. I've had a LOT of Nashville Hot Chicken in Nashville proper, so Dave's isn't a carbon copy of it. In the end, it's a better-than-fast-food delicious spicy chicken sandwich with some Shake Shack-like crinkle cut fries. Personally, I'd get the sammich (comes with kale slaw and pickles) over the tenders (comes on top of white bread, but is delicious with some honey), but like Raising Cane's, all of the chicken is the same. If you like spicy food, the hot will be just the right flavor level for you. It won't be so hot that you regret your choice, and it'll be all flavor. If you're not into spicy food, you're probably looking at medium and below, and that's totally fine. To set expectations, Dave's really is a fast food spot inside. It's kind of like a Five Guys, but smaller with a patio. This is not a sit down restaurant. You order at the counter off the very limited menu (basically sammich or tenders), wait for your order, and pray to the semi-fast food gods that you can find a seat. It's going to be busy. You might end up eating in your car. Pro tip: There is some counter-like seating near the back of the restaurant with high chairs that people somehow don't see, so if you're eating solo or maybe with one friend, that might be your move. Tried this for the first time tonight & absolutely LOVED it! Simply the best chicken hands down since I've been in Colorado. The prices are great too & love the serving sizes, for the #4 as shown in photo, it was $9.99 and again, absolutely amazing chicken! Restaurant is kept well clean & bathrooms were also clean. The parking is metered right outside & parking can be hard to find so either get their earlier in the evening or ride share. Definitely worth the travel out to Denver to try this great spot! There have been many places I have driven past this last year or so and have been super curious about and I have finally gotten around to find some time to go to these restaurants I've seen in passing. I was not aware of how famous this restaurant is, I just thought it was just a new restaurant on Broadway. First off I really love the small menu. I think a lot of times the smaller the menu the better the food may come out. I was a bit skeptical though because I've had tenders in fast food joints that were so dry that I had to throw them out before I choked on them. To my surprise though, this place is delicious and the service here is awesome. The chicken: I ordered medium and it was made fresh to order so it was hot and also spice wise was something I easily handled and didn't have a tough time with. I think I'll order hot next time. Very flavorful and the pieces of chicken are big, so it doesn't feel like your skimped on. The sandwich was big and wasn't slider sizes, so I was surprised! It was good though! I loved the slaw on there and sauce. Every bite had flavor and chicken was moist throughout. Not as greasy as the Nashville hot that I've tried in the past, so that's can be a good thing depending on who you are. Fries: crinkle cut and was hot, had some seasoning on it and overall very good. I've read several reviews saying it's super busy. I went on a Friday near dinner time and it wasn't too bad. I think the hype has gone down and lines are manageable now. What a new fantastic fried chicken place I have found, not only do I just absolutely love fried chicken, but the fact that I can put spicy together with it is just adding two of my favorite things. We got three sliders and a tender at medium and hot levels. My girlfriend and I have been tracking this restaurant down for some time and have been waiting for it to open, so here is my review of Dave's Hot Chicken. THE GREAT: First are foremost I must say that the customer service here was pin point perfect, while my girlfriend and I were eating we were greeted by an employee who was going around to different tables and asking people if they needed anything which included a refill, more napkins, etc. I don't remember her name but on May 2 at around 8-9pm she was out sanitizing tables and helping other customers. You know who you are. The sliders were just fantastic, I loved the fact that this restaurant doesn't just use iceberg lettuce and throw it on the burger but instead use real healthy herb mixes mixed with ranch. Another thing that I loved about them were the pickles that were in the sliders. Not only did all the sliders come with extra pickles on the side, but also multiple little cups of sauce, and I have to say, the sauce is pretty amazing as I found my self drowning my sliders in them. THE CHICKEN: The crispiness of the chicken was just OH SO GOOD, and the juicy feeling after a bite was to die for. Whats more for me was that whenever I bit into a slider/chicken tender I could taste the amazing seasoning that was in it. I could tell it was delicious fried chicken as when I bit down and started chewing on the chicken I could feel the crumbling of the outer layer between my teeth and tongue, much like the texture of sugar that is melting inside of your mouth except its spicy and savory with a complimented texture of chicken. Love the flavor, and Love the texture. THE HEAT: So from what I have gathered if you have a good tolerance to spice like I do and were on the fence of getting getting Hot versus Extra Hot then you should definitely get Extra Hot. I had ended up getting medium and hot with my girlfriend and found that the hot level is not too bad. The great thing about the spicy in these chicken tenders/sliders is that they start to kick in after you eat a while. I felt the heat of "hot" as I was eating but never thought it was that hot for me. Next time I come in I am going to get myself an "extra hot" level for myself and a "reaper" to share with my girlfriend and see how hot they really are, excited. THE EYEBROW RAISER: So this was kind of odd as we wanted to try their mac n' cheese but when we tried to order it they said they were out. Now that wouldn't have really been a problem because there were so many people there as supplies could run out, however, when we sat down, got our food and were eating, we saw someone, after we had already gotten our food a couple of orders ago, get up an sit down with a side of mac n cheese. We clearly heard from the register that they were out of mac n cheese so we had been a little disappointed. That's the only thing that makes this review a four out of five is because of that. I will readjust my review accordingly when we go again to try the mac n' cheese as it wasn't the full experience that we wanted, but still, the rest of the food and service was so amazing. read more

The menu is straight forward if you want chicken!! The portion is quite large for the combo meals. You are able to order just tenders or sliders too. I recommend the hot level for chicken if you can handle spicy. The spice is not as intense and nashville hot chicken. The chicken was tender and the slider was decent. I really am not a fan of their sauce however, it was not the best or that unique. I would say their fries are good make sure to get the cheese! Also lastly, do not forget their shakes!! However, when I saw all the good reviews and how hot is really hot, I figured I'd check it out and see if it's similar to back home. I was definitely disappointed. Their vanilla milkshake was absolute garbage. They say they make it with real ice cream, and it tasted like powder. I tossed it out after two sips. Their mac n cheese is just ok. It's not bad but nothing to write home about. Their chicken is about the same. I'll say that you do get good portions. However, their medium is closer to a mild and their hot a medium. If you're familiar with Hattie B's in Nashville and are used to their medium, order the hot here. If you like hot at Hattie B's, get the Xhot. Overall, this place is nothing like Nashville hot chicken. It doesn't have the spiciness and definitely isn't nearly as crispy. read more

Oh my goodness, I thought Raisin' Caine's was the best fried chicken until I tried Dave's! I went with a friend on a Saturday night (late) and it was BUSY. The location is prime - right off of broadway, and they are opening up a second one on Nov 11th in Denver. Plenty of seating inside even with it being busy. I got 2 tenders with fries combo. It did take a while to get the food, but it was worth the wait. Man that chicken is tender, juicy, crispy and flavorful. I love the crinkle fries also- gotta have crinkle fries with the fried chicken. And the pickles, not sure why but those pickles were amazing perfectly sour and crispy. Their slider is def an understatement as it is pretty decent size. Chicken is crispy and juicy, and their mild season has a nice kick. Def get the spicier level if you really want to feel the heat. Fries were simple: fried to golden brown and well seasoned. The sauce that it comes with also paired really well fries and the slider itself. Kale slaw honestly was ok, but I wouldn't get this again. Even though it gives off a fast food restaurant vibe, there were workers constantly going around the table and asking people if they needed anything from bringing more sauce or napkins to taking away the empty trays when you're done. And everyone was so nice here. It was about $20 for the slider, fries, a drink and kale slaw with tip. TASTY. I ordered Dave's Hot Chicken on a whim over doordash and I'm so glad I did! Out of caution I just ordered a single chicken tender with a side of Mac and cheese. The setting for how hot you want the chicken to be was the most detailed list I've ever seen. Since in an absolute coward with spicy, I decided to go for mild lite which had just enough to give the tender a magnificent flavor, but now I know I want to try mild!
