There were three of us, and we each ordered a plate with a choice of one or two meats, two sides, and a few extras. The brisket was especially impressive--moist, incredibly tender, and so soft you didn't even need a knife to cut it. The sides were very good, but the meats were definitely the highlight of the meal. One thing we really appreciated was the toppings bar, which included pickles, onions, pickled onions, jalapeños, and two different barbecue sauces so you could customize each bite. They even had a mini soft-serve ice cream machine for a little dessert after your meal, which was a nice touch. They also offer family meal options, making it a great choice for larger groups. The kitchen line has lots of workers happy to help with questions and let you see/try anything you are not sure about as they have some non-traditional options for a BBQ place. Having said that, all the food options work so well together. I got brisket and chicken. Chicken was fine but I'd skip it and go brisket all the way. It was so tender and juicy. They have several sauce options. You can't go wrong with any. They were in the middle of construction/expansion but there are still lots of seating options in or outside. Upon entering you are greeted with a huge open interior with modern spaces and can see the front line of the kitchen where they will prepare a plate of barbecue and sides of your choices. I like both of their bbq sauces quite a bit, especially the dark red one, but this beef rib honestly didn't need any. This is quickly becoming our favorite day date place. The meat is halal and delicious. We didn't have to wait long for our food, because you just go down-the-line and choose what you want. And so that makes it perfect if you don't have much time for a quick date. Everything is already cooked to perfection. We ended up not getting the ribs, because of the weight of them, but we did get the lean brisket and the fatty brisket and the lamb chops. Unfortunately, the fatty brisket tastes delicious and so we have to get more of that next time! We will definitely be getting that over the lean brisket. Lamb chops are usually my favorite thing, but I did not like the smokiness of them. Personally, I wouldn't not get them again. I love that they had refills for their drinks, can I especially like that they had ice cream. I definitely needed something a little sweet after all that savory. Everything we tried was delicious especially the jalapeño cheddar sausage. We also ordered the brisket and chicken. My favorites were the chicken and sausage. The chicken wasn't your typical seasoning either. The sides we had were beans and hummus. The beans were flavorful and the hummus could have been served with a side of pita or chips. That and a little brisket were the only things left over. They also offer self serve soft ice cream. I thought it was very creamy and delicious. I am not sure if I got served the same food that all these other influencers on social media are posting because my brisket was salty, my chicken dry, and the sausage even drier that it almost broke my fork. I hate to write negative reviews but I honestly feel like not even the sides made up for the fact that the food was either salty or just dry. The brisket I got was kind of smoky but extremely salty and fatty. I liked that it wasn't totally dry like their chicken and the sausage. The chicken had a lot of smoky flavor but I didn't really taste anything else from the rub. Thankfully it was tender so I was able to enjoy that with the pomegranate sauce from their self-serve condiment bar. The sausage was extremely dry and had no flavor. I didn't know what I was eating. As far as the sides go we got the mac and cheese, the cucumber and dill yogurt, the potato salad, and the coleslaw. The mac and cheese was just ok. The potato salad was probably my favorite thing that I tried along with the yogurt side with the cucumber and dill. The coleslaw had a slightly warm temperature so I am not sure if it was supposed to taste like that or not but it just didn't taste right to me. I would love to go back and give them another chance because everyone was super friendly and were able to answer my questions when I was in line. I've heard great things about Levant BBQ and had to try during my visit to Houston. I had the brisket, sausage, brisket sandwich, as well as the cole slaw, Mac and cheese, and creamed corn. After you get your food there is a sauce and toppings bar to the side. Let's get into the food: Brisket: it was lukewarm, not as hot as I would have liked. The meat wasn't as moist or juicy as I would have liked either. It was just okay Sausage: they made their sausages a different way with breadcrumbs? It was either that or some sort of filler ingredient, which made it unique. I wasn't a fan because I didn't really taste much of the meat. Mac and cheese: just your average Mac and cheese, nothing special Cole slaw: there wasn't much mayo in it so it tasted healthier. I didn't really like it, but others may. Creamed corn: average. Not much else to say about this one. BBQ sauce: again, average. Not great, but by no means bad. Overall, Levant is a one and done for me. What initially stands out about Levant is that it's BBQ and Middle Eastern fusion. Halal BBQ. Definitely a first for me! Ambiance (4.5/5): Clean and modern. Think of it as a modern version of your typical BBQ joint. Plenty of seating both inside, as well as a small patio outside. While I didn't dine in, I would have enjoyed doing so. Service (4.5/5): Like most BBQ spots, you order cafeteria style. So service isn't a big part of the experience. But, for what it is, it was seamless, and I got my food quickly. There were only two people ahead of me in line. There is one thing that I really liked, though. They offer complimentary soft serve ice cream. I've seen this at other restaurants, but never at a BBQ joint. Very cool! And it's better than your average soft serve too. Drinks (N/A): I didn't order any drinks on this visit. Food (4.5/5): This is where things got very interesting. You'll see the typical hallmarks of BBQ with a Middle Eastern twist. Sides like hummus or saffron rice. And even dishes like what I ordered: a brisket shawarma. Officially mind blown! They took some brisket, chopped it up, added pickles, jalapeños, red onions, garlic sauce, and bbq sauce, and wrapped it in a freshly pressed wrap. The fusion of cuisines is a match made in heaven. One of those dishes that I always needed in my life, but never thought it existed. The tang of the BBQ worked well with the garlic sauce. While I didn't have jalapeños on mine, they would add a kick. The onion add some crunch and color to the shawarma. And the most important ingredient, the brisket, while not the best I've had, was solid. My only real complaint? Good but not great, in a town with great bbq. My biggest problem with it is it isn't Texas style bbq. Not very smoky, and no real bark. The brisket and the ribs are tender, and I thought I would love it because there's no pork (messy cutting areas at BBQ places are unpleasant, there was no risk of pork juice getting on my brisket). But it just didn't have the right smoky, peppery flavor profile. The people are nice, and there's free ice cream. The service is beyond believable--absolutely amazing. The staff are such kind, warm-hearted people. I came straight from the airport at 9 PM and called them in advance, and they kindly had my plate completely ready for me the moment I arrived. As for the food--oh my goodness! The creativity behind blending Mediterranean sides with classic Texas BBQ is pure genius. I loved how beautifully everything paired together. The meat is so tender and flavorful it doesn't need any sauce whatsoever; I just sat there savoring every single bite. So I had to run it back. Was in the area for lunch and wanted bbq. I ordered the brisket potato. Service was a little timid this time but fine. As far as the potato it really was just ok. It looked good but it just didn't hit the notes. I know he put brisket on there but it still felt not present. The sauces seemed off from my first experience. She initially was gonna add the mustard based sauce and I'm glad she didn't. I got some on the side from the condiment bar, and when I tried it with it I did not like it. I did opt for the pomegranate based sauce. Idk if something was missing or changed but it was different too. Idk what happened between my first visit but I have faith y'all can find your way back to it. I would suggest going to other bbq spots and trying out their potato's and how they plate it to get a feel of the customer experience. I'm very disappointed to say the least. Spent over $150 on a Levant Feast platter, and the sausage came out completely inedible. It was very overcooked, tasted burnt and over seasoned with no taste of any of the meat used to make it. The chicken and turkey were both extremely dry, overcooked and tasted overwhelmingly of smoke, not the smoky meaty flavor you would expect from $200+ barbecue. The beef rib and brisket were the two best meats but they were bland and the brisket was soggy with no bark. We asked if they had fried okra since it was on the menu but not out and the server behind the desk proceeded to pull out a pre-made frozen bag of fried okra and open it in front of us, the fries were also clearly frozen. That is not what you expect when you pay $250 for a meal for 8 at a restaurant that has very good reviews. The baked potato was the only thing we could finish. The servers were helpful and friendly, and the atmosphere felt nice and inviting but it wasn't anywhere close to making up for how bad the food was. read more
