Customer service here is always good and also the place is always clean and neat when I go. To begin with the food is great it's tasty and delicious. I always get the 1 slider with fries and spicy (HOT) and also don't forget to order extra sauce i think it's called (Dave's sauce) it's so good . Furthermore I really recommend trying out this place out if you like spicy stuff for sure. read more

I love a good Hot Chicken Sandwich and I know they are the next best thing in Indy. The sandwich was really yummy! The perfect amount of spice but it took us about 15 minutes to get our To-Go order on a pretty light Sunday afternoon. The menu also seemed slightly overpriced. Worth it?? Well all I can say it's SO GOOD! Honestly the spicy is just perfect and the sandwich was so good. Bread was soft and chicken was juicy and well cooked. The fries were crispy and the Dave's sauce was a perfect partner to them. So glad we got here early as 11:30 hit they got very busy! The bathrooms are also VERY clean and nice. I am in love with this chicken. Thankfully, I live within walking distance and get to go often! I usually order a combination of sides: chicken tender, fries, and Mac n cheese. The portions are pretty big so three sides fills me up. I've always ordered ahead and my food is always ready on time and the staff are friendly. read more

This place recently opened on Mass Ave and offers some delicious hot chicken. They've got the spice for sure. I just got medium level and really enjoyed it, my friends got Extra Hot and one bite had me sweating (I like to think I can handle spice)! You can also sign a waiver for their hottest level-- "The Reaper". We heard lines can be really long here since opening (up to 45 min), but it was surprisingly not bad on a Friday around 6pm! We had no line. Fries were so good, and their sauce is kickin. I'd recommend! read more

ever since this place opened it has been the talk of the town so I had to stop in and see what the hype is all about. I ordered the 2 Slider Combo in medium heat and added cheese to my fries. The spice level of the medium heat was the perfect amount of spice for me. The slider overall was good, the meat was juicy and the daves sauce was good. The cheese fries were great to lower some of the spice I got from the sliders. I really enjoyed the food here, I will be back to try hot next just to see how spicy that is. read more

This was my first time ever having Dave's Hot Chicken. I was a little skeptical from the reviews for this location, but I'm glad I took a chance! The food is very good. My husband and I ordered the sliders, tenders with medium and spicy level, and Mac n cheese. Chicken was flavorful, not oily, and just the right spice level. Mac n cheese was creamy and seasoned well too. Order came out fast and staff was friendly. I'm thinking this location was struggling a little when it first opened with the mixed reviews. I had heard so many things about this place and was excited to try it at the only Indy location. This meal was more than enough for two of us, both of us took 1 home for later (it was also almost $40 for both). The sliders were huge. I really liked the sauce, and I added cheese to mine- perfect went on a Sunday and it wasn't too busy except for doordashers coming and going. the customer service was alright, not terrible but definitely not super friendly either. will def be back, I wish there was another Indy location other than downtown. read more

Okay! Was dying to try this place and it was fire. We did have to wait outside a bit, but it was worth it. The sliders are like a normal size sandwich, so don't let your eyes be bigger than your stomach. They have the best option, if you can't decide they have the one tender and one slider. The fries are so good with the seasoning they sprinkle on there. They have different temps of sauces: mild, medium,hot etc. I swear I could eat here all the time. It's just that good. It doesn't take long for your food. They have plenty of seating. Don't waste your time trying to decide if you want to try this place out, go on ahead and make your way down here! read more

I came on opening weekend. The line was outside but moved quickly. The manager came out and explained the menu and let's in groups of people at a time. It was very organized. I ordered the two sliders, mild. With fries and a side of Mac and cheese. The mild was still pretty spicy as it made my nose bridge sweat LOL. The sliders were HUGE, so don't get hung up on the word "slider". I could only eat one of mine before becoming full. The tenders were big and juicy. Not dry at all. But lacked flavor other than just the SPICINESS. I added some extra Dave sauce and a packet of honey on the sliders and it was amazing. The fries were great. Crunchy outside and soft inside with seasoning. The Mac and cheese I will never order again. Very bland. Very "out of a plastic bag" taste. I would try again but not wait in a line again. read more

I decided to try this new hot chicken place last weekend. Of course, the waiting line is long (~30 min wait time to make an order) and the staff was informed about the menu in advance. There was cool artwork around the store and food was prepared around 10-15 mins to come out! I had mine hot and they were perfect, it was really good. Mac and cheese were so creamy. This place is GOOD! I loved my sandwich. The chicken to breading / seasoning ratio was spot-on. The acoustics in this place suck though, it was soo loud and the staff is fairly unpleasant for the most part. Just loud and visibly over it. Lol you can tell they don't want to be there. Wow! So excited to have this place on Mass Ave! My roommate and I went the grand opening and we loved it! The line moved quickly and the food was hot and fresh! I had had their tenders before at another location so I knew Medium was the heat level for me. It's spicy but not fire spicy or unbearable. I really enjoy that their menu only has 3 entree options. Pros: Food was pretty good, the chicken tastes very juicy and the spice blend is nice. One of the managers claimed this is the "best chicken I'll ever eat". I've been to Nashville enough times to know that's not the case :) The staff is super friendly however and I was warned in advance about the heat levels. I've tried both hot and medium. There wasn't much difference but the hot is bearable. I'll probably try one level higher next time. Cons: The wait time is very long and they don't have online ordering. I'm sure this will be fixed soon though The staff isn't well trained and I got asked if I wanted to add on 4-5 things as I ordered. It was phrased in a way that made it sound like it was included so I started asking and she backed down once I said I don't want anything else if it's not included in the combo. To that last point, the pricing is quite high for Indy. Two chicken tenders, a tiny "basket" of about 10 fries, and two slices of plain white bread should be 10$. It's also criminal that a hot chicken restaurant doesn't include drinks in its combos. I'll definitely be back, but hoping for a more polished experience and perhaps some pricing adjustments. read more

Food was really good! I got the combo number 4 which came with one slider and fries. I got my slider extra hot which is the second highest on the scale. The chicken was really juicy and actually quite spicy, fries were great and I like the sauce it comes with. Service was polite and quick. Do not read the reviews above or below, as Jesus said they know not what they say. Super nice staff Quick Service and spot on flavors. I am not one for fast food but this was excellent. To the lady who commented about the frying method and gluten options. DO NOT QUIT YOUR DAY JOB. Pretty good! The textures were on point including the slaw and I really enjoyed thee fries and their seasoning. I also like how you get two sandwiches in one meal. The "hot" had a decently sharp heat to it but besides that I didn't get much flavor in the sandwich, might try medium or the tenders next time. The place is fast paced and always busy and loud, and the artwork on the walls is really cool. I also love that they are halal certified! read more

Hello, I recently had the opportunity to try out Daves's hot chicken. My friend and I wanted to go there ,since it first opened its doors months ago, it was pretty busy their first months and the traffic downtown was not helping! Based on great reviews across social media and highly promoted food, it really caught our attention that the food is pictured as flowable and delicious. My visit wasn't quite as expected, long lines, but friendly staff. The atmosphere was enjoyable, they shared the history of the corporation on their walls , they had very crazy and colorful designs on their walls, and a very beautiful location in downtown Indy! Personally I enjoy spicy food & chicken. I didn't quite enjoy the -fry chicken sawch, by the way the location was very busy but seemed well staffed. Which could be a potential factor of why the food was not up to standards. They have a pretty small menu with different types of spice levels, their Mac and cheese is flavorless and watery. They will provide you with small patches of salt and pepper. You will definitely need, in order to give some flour to your cheese soup "Mac & Cheese"! I ordered their convo with a drink which included a side, and two chicken sandwiches. I only took one bite; it wasn't what I was expecting. Too salty and very grassy and a little burnt. One of the staff recommended that we add honey to it. I was hoping it would turn my experience into a totally different outcome, but it was actually very disgusting! I do believe this business has potential, unjust minor issues that are fixable, their fries are pretty good and well seasoned as well as their dressings. I do hope to come back soon and give it another try! I'm a member of the indy foody facebook group and the individual promoting this location was deleting negative comments, I'm guessing it was part of the promoting strategie. Spicy and delicious. My husband and I get the mild and medium heat and they're just right. The macaroni and cheese is delicious as well as the cheese fries. The Dave's sauce is good too! Ordered carry out here on a day when I was REALLY hungry. Got the two sliders meal. It was delicious! I went with medium spice and it had a good amount of heat to it without being unbearable. The sandwiches were so big it can hardly be called a slider. I didn't need to eat dinner later that day either. Not sure why Indy is suddenly booming with hot chicken places, but I'll definitely be back at Dave's! Would be nice to see a few more choices on the menu, but otherwise, this place is great. read more

STICKY TABLES! ALL OF THEM! I ordered a #1, 2 tenders, fries and I added a small drink. I was put off by the the giant turd shaped 'tenders' covered in a huge amount of cheetoh dust. The amount of the orange dust made it inconvenient to eat, because I was constantly wiping my fingers. The pickles and dipping sauce were pretty good and the fries weren't bad, if not a little too salty. The bill was 15 dollars which is pretty normal for a single cheap meal in the touristy district it's in, but I don't think they should automatically asking for a tip on every order, given that it's still fundamentally just a fast food restaurant. The staff was rather dead-eyed and slow moving, as one would expect in a fast food restaurant. I would have rated higher, but the tables were seriously disgusting. read more

Dave's Hot Chicken was created by best friends Dave Kopushyan, Arman Oganesyan, and Tommy and Gary Rubenyan. Dave, a chef trained in Thomas Keller's (French Laundry) organization set out to create the perfect Hot Chicken by searching, tasting, and frying. The four friends scrounged up $900 to put a tiny stand in an East Hollywood parking lot. The menu was simple, and chicken was the star. And what chicken it is! Sourced and prepared to be the juiciest and most tender imaginable with each piece topped with Dave's own mix of spices ranging from "Mild" to "The Reaper". Arman created Instagram buzz and the lines began to grow. Two nights later, Eater/LA showed up to see what the fuss was about. The next morning's headline read "East Hollywood's Late Night Chicken Stand Might Blow Your Mind". Almost instantly, the lines stretched around the block. A year later, the boys had the money to open a shop in a hip strip-mall with de_cor by local street artists, where the crowds continued to grow with wait-times of an hour and more. From there, the incredibly craveable "Hot and Spicy" varieties have created a cult following with rave reviews across the U.S. and Canada.

History

Established in 2017.

In 2017, four childhood friends came up with a simple concept -- take Nashville Hot Chicken and make it better than anyone else in America. With only a couple thousand dollars to their name, they boot-strapped a pop-up concept in a parking lot in East Hollywood serving a simple menu of tenders, sliders, fries, and kale slaw -- they created a viral cult following with lines consistently over an hour long. After 6 months of running the pop-up with long lines, the team took the plunge and opened their first physical store in January 2018 in a sleepy strip center in East Hollywood. Demand for their crave-able hot chicken exceeded all expectations and sales have grown every month since opening with consistently long lines throughout the day.

The chicken udon noodles were fantastic- packed full of flavor and tons of toppings in it. The short rib fell a little short of my expectations, but I had high expectations to begin with. We have had the short rib multiple times in the past- and normally it is a hunk of meat, similar to a roast. Now, it is strips of tiny pieces of meat with a bone attached to it. If the owner/general manager is reading this- GO BACK TO THE ROAST STYLE- the strips of meat was too much work to eat. Still packed full of great flavor though. I had the bridge to Anshun for my drink. I had never had Baiju before, but glad I tried it. It was a tangy drink that was also sweet- would say it's a must try. It had been before the pandemic since my last time in Indianapolis and much has changed on the city's dining and drinking landscape. Following a recommendation from a bartender at Sundry & Vice, I made my way to BODHI. I didn't have reservations, which I'd strongly recommend, since the place was packed on Wednesday night before 6PM. Fortunately, I was able to snag a seat at the bar, which was ideal since I was dining solo. Upon scanning the hip, high-energy, yet petite dining room, I had a sense of deja vu about it before realizing that I had been in this space before back when it was Black Market. I started off with a cocktail from Bodhi's intriguing and expansive drink list, a 7 Realms of Happiness, made with Old Hamer Bourbon, Faccia Brutto Centerbe, Cappelletti amaro, saffron honey, and lemon. My thought was that it's their twist on a classic Whiskey Smash. It was bittersweet, yet balanced, and simply a delight. As for the food, BODHI's menu is concise hitting the most of the Thai food usual suspects. I had the Papaya Salad and the Shrimp Green Curry. The papaya salad came out first. I was pleasantly surprised by its plating, looking much more like an elaborate entree with its cashews, watermelon radish, and chicharrones than the humble side salad atop a leaf of lettuce or cabbage that I've usually received at virtually every Thai restaurant I've ever been. It was just a pretty plate as it tasted even better than it looked. It was fresh and flavorful as those flavors popped from the perfect balance of salty, sweet, sour, spicy, and funky. It was the best rendition of a papaya salad that I've tasted. My bowl of curry was no less successful in balancing those diverse Thai flavor profiles. Unlike some/many other curries I've had where it seems like a bowl full of sauce with bits and pieces of protein or vegetables, Bodhi's rendition achieved the perfect "solids to sauce" ratio. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and the curry itself was bold and bright on my tongue. It was a delicious spoonful. I loved it! For "dessert", I had a second cocktail, the Garnet, a booze-forward whisky drink made with Mars Iwai Tradition, Pinhook Rye, Akashi Ume Plum whisky, Veda Mushroom Liqueur, Balsamic Vermouth, celery & orange bitters, and topped with a Moon Smoke Bubble. It was very unique, tasty and satisfying, if not a bit difficult to describe. I would maybe compare it to an Asian-influenced Vieux Carre and I thought it was excellent. Service from Carli, the bartender, was stellar throughout my night as she was friendly, helpful and exceedingly outstanding in making my drinks. A definite rock star! BODHI was outstanding. I'm not sure how to best describe the place. Was it as an amazing Thai restaurant that also does incredible cocktails or an amazing cocktail bar that also does killer Thai food? Regardless, I could not have enjoyed my experience more. If/when I'm back in Indy, BODHI is at the top of my list for a visit!

Listen if you live in Indianapolis like me you know that we don't get most of the popular restaurants they have in Miami and LA but fortunately Dave's Hot Chicken was here when we looked. We drove to DHC and arrived around 4:21 and paid 0.50 to park for 18 minutes, after we paid we walked in ordered the "Dave's #1" and the "Dave's #3" after we we had told Dominick our order we were discussing whether we would get drinks or not but then Dominick interrupted and gave us two fountain drinks for free. After our order have been placed we got our drinks and probably waited 2 minutes then there he was with our food. Loved the food and the experience and most definitely loved the design that the restaurant had, if your near Downtown Indianapolis swing by Dave's because trust me it's always going to be worth your while. read more

Utterly disappointed. The chicken was not hitting right. I did order the hot chicken but I did not expect for the chicken to just be hot; I expected for it to have some sort of great flavor to it since the lines have literally been stretching out of the door of the business for weeks. I wouldn't return here or recommend it to anyone. It is overrated and overpriced. Even if it is hot HOT is not a flavor. It is more of a spice in my opinion and even then it shouldn't embody the flavor of what the chicken is fully. read more

I had Dave's Hot Chicken for the first time. I got the two piece tender meal mild and it was just the right amount. It also came with two pieces of bread that was good for making a little sandwich out of it. The fries were perfect crispy and seasoned. The Dave's sauce pairs perfectly with the chicken and the fries. The service was okay. The works seemed like they were ready to get off of work. But the ambiance was quiet and not too busy. Overall not a bad experience! 4/5! read more

OMG, I just had the most incredible meal! The flavors were absolutely amazing, and the presentation was stunning. Every bite was a burst of deliciousness. I couldn't get enough! I would give it a solid 10 out of 10! This place definitely knows how to satisfy your taste buds. Highly recommend trying it out! read more

walked in daves for lunch it was hot an delicious. A (what i assumed was a employee sitting at a table named mandrell ) spoke to me, and gladly helped me with bathroom code. Very nice young man, great service and excellent medium tenders I will be back. read more

Me my husband had a night out with our toddler of course we stopped in to the the sliders and the staff was good on timing with greeting. I did have to wait long on my order and my husband and I loved it and definitely will be returning. read more
