I stopped by Dave's last night pretty late, and it did not disappoint. In fact, I scarfed it down so quickly that I did not get photos, sorry!! Hot chicken is on the top of my list of favorite foods, so when Dave's Hot Chicken opened I knew I had to check them out. Overall, the food was good and the amount of time it took to receive our order was very fast. I've been to several Dave's Hot Chicken spots and this one lived up to my memories. The thing I forgot though is just how much food you get! I did combo 3, which is a slider and a tender with fries. I did the slider with the hot spice level and the tender with the medium spice level. Love the level of spice from both of these. Hot is hot while not being too overpowering, they have 2 hotter flavors for that, and the medium lets you enjoy that phenomenal Nashville hot taste without packing too much heat. The crinkle cut fries are pretty good (Not the biggest crinkle cut fan). The meal doesn't come with a drink which is weird. I recommend coming with a friend and splitting combo 2, where you eat get a slider then you can split some fries. You'd get out of there for less than $10 each. Everything here touches gluten so I couldn't give it full stars but the vibe is fun! Look carefully at the walls and you'll find some iconic Indianapolis features. The fries are seasoned well - although I'm pretty sure they are fried in the same batter as the chicken (this is not confirmed by Dave's - just my assumption here) so venture at your own risk if you are gluten sensitive. Space for seating inside, limited menu which I always like because that means what you get is going to be fabulous. This place is definitely cool! When we arrive I was surprised to see a line out the door even with it being open a few weeks. But, that did not bother us and the lined moved quickly. They have the option of your hot chicken as strips or small sandwiches. When ordering you can pick from 6-7 spices from no spice to something very hot. The employee suggested to go a level lower than your "normal" on your first visit to get a better taste of the true flavor. I would recommend that as well. The chicken was moist and the dipping sauce was very good. I do think the medium would be hot at some places so plan accordingly. I liked the heat though.
