High Cost! High Price! I ordered one of their most popular meals: two sliders + fries + added cheese for total $17 after tax. Was it worth it? probably not; $10 would be a more reasonable price. Nothing super special about their chicken tenders, but I ordered "No Spice." Probably a mistake on my part for going here because the name of the place contains "HOT" chicken. There are 20 dining tables that each have 4 seats attached, and also ~12 tables on the outside patio; chairs are those super durable metal chairs that aren't very comfortable on the butt. Only 3 groups of people were dining in restaurant. I saw Door Dash and Uber Eats pick up food. Customer service is excellent. I waited 15 minutes for my food to be prepared. Place is very clean. Environment looks like you are in a steel warehouse factory. Food tasted good, but I just wouldn't pay such a high price; you would have to like their sauces and hot spices in order get what you paid for. I like their napkins (very thick). They have many "hot" option levels, so if you are a little scared of eating something too "hot," you can tame your fears! I enjoyed my "hot" chicken, and it was a good balance of heat and taste. 4:00 pm is the time to try this place not much of a wait. My beef with this place is that the chicken has no flavor I just felt like I was eating spice and bread and cheese. I was hoping for awesome flavor I love spicy food with flavor but this place does not have that. I just came in to try this place out and waited a bit for a cashier that was having a conversation with another employee before even getting greeted. I placed my order and was told if I would like to leave a Tip I did add the 15% for a $10 meal. I've eaten here a few times and I like the place a lot, albeit the prices are a little high. But, I guess we have to accept that with the minimum wage being $15/hr in California. The food is good, but not great. It could be better. After a recent trip to Nashville, I had the pleasure of eating the "real" Nashville chicken, including the inventor, "Prince's" and the most popular eatery, "Hattie B's." I think the main difference in quality is that the chicken is much too chalky or powdery, if you will, at Dave's, especially as the heat level is increased. It seems that just more cayenne pepper is rolled on, but it doesn't blend properly, instead remaining as a thin layer of chalk, which results in an unpleasant sensation on the palette. If the owners of Dave's could determine how Hattie B's figured out the solution to this problem, I would give them 5 stars. Still, I am glad we have them in the Coachella Valley and I believe they are the only Nashville Hot Chicken establishment. Just tried it for the first time after my sister was hyping it up, but it's awful. Super expensive and absolutely not worth it. Can't even taste the chicken because of how overpowering the thick overly spicy/ salty/ powdery, crust is, and it's not the good kind of spicy, it's the make your lips swell up kind of spicy, not something I personally enjoy... my boyfriend feels the same way. We couldn't even finish one of the sliders a from the slider combos we ordered, and I felt like I was going to be sick. Side note: I love spicy food. Got home, and ate, all of our chicken tenders that we ordered mild, they gave us medium and we were unable to eat it. The chicken was also really salty. It was $27 for 2 combos that didn't even include a drink, which was super confusing and seemed like a rip off because most people assume combos include a drink. Also tipping was not even optional. Finally got a chance to try this place out. It was clean and the service was serviceable. I ordered a Number 2 combo with a slider on the side to go. When I got home the combo box had no fries despite all the necessary ketchup and napkins in the bag. Super disappointing that the meal wasn't complete given the price. Place wasn't busy either for a mistake to happen like that. No one answered the phone to discuss the matter either. Edit: day later and still no answer on the phone. I've heard some great things about Dave's, so I finally decided to give it a try today. I had a slider with the lite mild spicy level. The taste was great, especially after adding honey and the sauce that comes on the side. I didn't really like the taste of the fries though; they were pretty dry and not very enjoyable. My husband and I went on Friday night. We ordered a number 3 and a number 2 (extra hot and reaper). The chicken was pretty good except for one of the 4 tenders which was under cooked and still had raw batter on it. The fries needed more seasoning and salt (we did go back to ask for more on the side) and even though we requested extra crispy, they were still not very crispy at all. The Dave's special sauce leaves a lot to be desired (maybe get some pointers from Cane's). The cashiers were very nice and polite but the cooks in the back (mostly all very young men), were cussing loud enough to be heard from the pick up counter and discussing their personal life (which is fine if you keep your tone low so the customers cannot hear every other word is f*ck and sh$t). The restaurant was very clean as were the restrooms. Overall it was ok but not somewhere we would go often unless we get that out of nowhere craving for the reaper spice. Definitely not worth the $30 we spent which did not include any drinks (although we did receive a free fountain drink for checking in on Yelp) and the 30 minute drive from home. If you do go, make sure to ask for honey and put it on your chicken. It really elevates the flavor. For now, when we crave chicken tenders we will go to Cane's. read more

We went yesterday for the first time, and I'm having a really hard time not going back again today. And tomorrow. It's SO GOOD! The chicken is piping hot and very juicy, and they don't hold back on the spice. I ordered hot sliders and my wife ordered medium tenders. The hot was perfect, but to be honest, medium would have been a perfectly acceptable level of heat too. And I really like spicy food. Just a heads up: the sliders are big! If you're imagining a 2 or 3 bite slider, you will be surprised. They're delicious, and definitely shareable. Super friendly staff, clean restaurant, and great chicken. This place uses a rub or sauce on their chicken which is nasty. The inside chicken wouldn't be so bad if you could even swallow the red nasty crust. I'm not sure why this place only has 3.5 stars. It's FANTASTIC. We are here from Orange County on a little "vacation". We've been here for 7 days so far and we have eaten Dave's hot chicken 4 times. It's quick, reasonably priced and DELICIOUS. The food has been consistently great all 4 times we have ordered. The chicken is SO juicy and crispy on the outside. The sauce that it comes with is flavorful without it being overbearing on the chicken. The fries were crispy & hot each time, as well. I'm not sure when we will be back to Indio - but I'm positive that when that time comes - we'll head straight for Dave's. read more

Wasn't sure what to expect as I am a visitor to the town where this restaurant is located and hadn't heard anything about it.
