Yesterday my boy asked me if I ever tried hot chicken because he said he was on the late train when the craze happened a few years ago. I told him I was in the same boat and that I never had it but everyone had been talking about it for years. So, I decided to pick my son up from school a little early and stopped in to try a piece of chicken or something just so I could tell my boy I finally tried it. First off I walked into the restaurant and the place was spotless! It was so spacious and clean with some cool little artwork up to set the tone. The guy in there was super cool and greeted me right away. He continued on preparing other people's meals and told me to let him know if I had any questions. I decide to go with a slider combo with fries but oddly the combos don't come with a drink. So, I ordered a small fountain drink with it. My honest opinion is that it was just okay. I got the light mild and I think I may have over did it with the honey I added but I don't think I'll honestly have hot chicken again. If you love spicy food, I can understand why people like it but it's just not my cup of tea. If I want fast food chicken my first option will be Chick-fil-A and then I'll probably grab Raising Canes. My first visit to Daves, I could tell the place has regulars and loyal fans (my teenage nephews). Cashier was friendly and helpful to my many questions as a first time customer. Decorated like most Dave's are, with some unique items at this location. A funny rubber chicken behind a "in case of emergency glass". You order at the counter as normal, service is fast, call your name and you grab it. The chicken here is great, same as all Dave's, big pieces of chicken tenders, juicy and spiced to your liking. I normally get the extra hot, which I did on this visit and it was pretty spicy, I would say a little spicier than other Dave's I have visited, but it was perfect for me as I like it spicier typically. There is a parking lot behind that costs $3 an hour, not sure if they validate of not as I parked on the street. Finally tried Dave's Hot Chicken. Kids love this place, I had to give it try I got the Extra Hot. I can handle spicy and it was on the upper end. I placed my mobile order at 8:40pm, and received a confirmation saying that it would be ready for pick up at 9:17pm. So I'm like okay cool. I go to pick up my food at 9:20, and it's not ready, they said it'd be ready in 7 minutes. Okay, a little annoying since the whole point of ordering ahead is to skip the line, but I get it. It's busy, so I waited 10 minutes before checking back in to see if my food was ready. Still nothing. Now I was already hungry, and didn't get really annoyed until 20 minutes went by and seeing people who walked in ordered their food and had their food ready before mine which was placed an hour prior at this point. I love Dave's, the food is fire and there's a reason why the it gets busy. But this was not an okay experience at all.
