This sandwich was a call-in order with a request for well-done bacon. The chef did well, on the well done, when I did find a strip. I learned this sandwich only comes with two. The eggs were softer than my liking, and the bread was soggy. Maybe they were busy; it seems they barely touched the grill. The building lives up to its reputation. Very picturesque! read more

Someone chose this for our Lunch & Learn. There was a wide variety of sandwiches, fillings, and type of bread on the two trays. They also included chips, cookies, drinks, and pickles. I loved it! I chose a turkey sandwich with Swiss cheese on wheat. The turkey was freshly sliced and the bread soft. Very high quality ingredients. The melted cheese was almost like a cheese sauce, the eggs (which were scrambled) were very light and fluffy (soft but not wet/soggy), the sausage was juicy, and the bagel had a nice soft chew. Whenever I get thinks on bagels I can't help but try to compare to Towson Hot Bagel. While the everything bagel wasn't quite as good as THB, it was definitely bigger, the non-bagel ingredients were better, and the overall price was cheaper. This was really a wonderful breakfast sandwich, and is enough on its own to keep you full. 11/10 Everything bagel with lox and scallion cream cheese: Complete waste of money. Do not buy this item. There was hardly any salmon on here, and its not even slices of it. It is small shredded pieces of lox, mixed with warm scallion cream cheese on a bagel. It reminded me of a tuna melt minus the cheese. 0 stars. Looking back at the menu description, I realize this was my fault, so I'm not letting it affect my review. Particularly when that sausage egg and cheese was soo freakin good. 0/10 Homefries: These were good. I've had better, but these were good. Good amount of fried onions, and the potatoes were soft. Very much a fan! I can't believe how long this place has been here and I knew nothing about it. Probably one of the most affordable spots to have breakfast downtown. We walked from our hotel to this place, and was not disappointed. At the table: Waffle/Eggs/Bacon Waffle/Scrapple Omelet/Potatoes/Toast Kids French Toast/Bacon/Eggs The waffles are amazing, they actually have a good taste without being drowned in syrup. It was almost like they were buttermilk! Being a Baltimorean, living in southern VA having scrapple on top of a waffle is the best. I couldn't have been more pleased, until I saw they had a full service café. I was even able to other a iced vanilla chai, it was so yummy. My kids were pleased too, it didn't hear one peep out of them as they ate their food. Not 5 stars because: Meals didn't seem to be complete, you had to order additional things to make it complete. Like eggs with the kids meal and the waffle and bacon meal. I seemed to be confused on how/when to pay, even after reading reviews that people are confused about ordering/paying. What a disappointment. All I wanted was a decent bagel (sesame, toasted, with butter) and a cup of black tea. First they tell me they don't have any black tea--AT ALL-- in their trove of stray teabags; so then I upscale it to a Chai latte at 3 times the price, only to discover (after I've returned to my hotel room) that it's sickeningly sweet and I can't even drink it. I open up the bagel to find that 1) it's no great shakes as a bagel, and 2) it's been barely toasted, and pretty much inedible. I went into this place somehow thinking it would be a higher quality choice than the Dunkin Donuts just up the street...but I was sadly mistaken. read more

Admittedly it's been more than a year since I've been here, but I always liked this place and I want to leave a positive review. David and Dad's cafe is an establishment that's known for serving breakfast & lunch out of the repurposed Central Savings Bank building. I always got the western omelet whenever I ate here, and it was great especially considering the price. I have no complaints about the service, and the atmosphere is really unique and fun if you like architecture. I stopped coming just because I moved out of the area and it was a little too far of a walk to go to regularly. I'm glad to see that they're still open. read more

Ordered David and Dad's for a corporate lunch. The food was ready on time and the order was 100% accurate! The food was delicious. Two things that stuck out to me with this order - The fried foods (Mozzarella Sticks and Sweet potato fries) were not soggy at all by time I got it to the office, but perfectly fresh, and the shrimp in the shrimp salad are jumbo shrimp, not teensy tiny shrimp. Additionally, the staff was wonderful. As soon as I walked in, someone offered to help me, and when I had questions about the order I was helped kindly and efficiently. Definitely recommend. Being in the building was great and I just kept taking more pictures. I'll also say the service was friendly and quick. I ordered the Reuben and garden salad and they were both pretty good but the bread was a bit soggy and I'm used to more meat on a good Reuben. I ate at D&D's Cafe twice in less than 24 hours during my short stay in Baltimore. I did a Yelp search for a $ restaurant that offered breakfast what was close to my hotel. I went there, but there were no longer serving breakfast after 11:00 AM- I should have got up earlier, I know. No worries, they have a lunch menu was well. Sweet. I ordered the chicken breast sandwich- it was a real chicken breast I'm pretty sure. Very tasty. The next day I had the meat lovers omelette- also very tasty. Ham, sausage, bacon, and cheese. I almost couldn't finish it was so big. I did finish though, because it was delicious! I know you can't eat atmosphere, but the space was pretty cool- It must have been a bank built in the 1930s or something. Good value, good food, pleasant service, good location and cool space. Stopped in for lunch on my jury duty day. There was a long line but moved pretty quick and even though it was quite busy and full I found a quiet spot to sit and charge my phone. Servers were very friendly. Forgot to order my coffee initially when I ordered my wrap and the server behind the counter helped me out with out fuss. You order they give you a number and bring it to you. She said don't worry we will find you, and sure enough had my wrap pretty quick. I ordered a grilled Cesar wrap, chips and coffee black. Upon entering you go to the front counter and place your order. After ordering if you are given a number and can sit at either high top or loo top tables. For my meal I ordered an iced coffee and platter. For coffee there are tons of options for specialty drinks but I used the basic sugar and cream that was out. For the platter I hot scrambled eggs, potatoes, white toast, bacon and added a side of scrapple since I have not had that in forever. The food had good flavor and very big portions. I have been here for breakfast and lunch and both times I went I was pretty satisfied. This place isn't too far from work so I usually call my order in before I go. Both times ive been its been a pretty quick pick up process, the hardest part is finding a parking spot depending on the time of day. The area its in is all street parking so I usually have to park and walk a block or two back to the place. When I ordered breakfast it was a pretty simple french toast/egg dish so nothing special but it was pretty tasty. I went back for lunch because I remembered how good their coffee was and really was craving some mid morning. This time I got a burger and fries expecting it to just be OK but it was really good! Though they didn't ask me how I liked my burger cooked it was done perfectly. I even opted for a dessert, this time i tried the banana pudding but I think i may be spoiled to my grandma pudding because theirs didn't satisfy my craving. Next time I'll have to try one of their cakes because they all looked so delicious in the display case. read more

I got my number and sat down (lucky number 24). They were playing classic rock which added well to the laid back, old school ambiance. The cafe mocha was large and well caffeinated. The chicken and waffles, while looking very basic, was seasoned very well and served with the whole bottle of the syrup to add on top, if desired. Alright to start the ordering process is very difficult but here is the skinny as I understand. You come in and sit down. Check the menu and go to the spot that says order. Order all your food, then sit back down. They bring it to you, they give you a number just like Panera use to. Drinks are on the honor system. They have some in soda coolers and coffee is ordered where food is ordered or where coffee sign is. It is confusing but the staff will explain it if you need.
