I would like to start out by saying I keep to myself and have never left anyone a bad review. I first ordered from this restaurant years ago and haven't ordered from there again until today because the delivery driver had the nerve to ask me for a tip when I had already left a tip on the seamless app. Either way, a tip isn't mandatory and it's beyond rude to ask for one. But today I figured I'd give them another chance and after waiting a long time for my order I called the restaurant who said that they never received it. The woman who answered the phone then asked me to send her screen shots of my order and order number. She then asked me how much did I tip. We placed an order with them from Uber Eats. One thing you should know is they deliver to Uber eats not an Uber eats driver. I called the restaurant right after place the order and told him it had to be here by 2 o'clock. My wife needs to eat by 2 o'clock at 1:56. I called them again to find out where the food was and it looked like they didn't even make the food yet. I had to get a refund from Uber eats and the food finally arrived around 2:30 when I placed the order at 1:15 way too long for an order of dumplings to get to our our house I won't be ordering for them again maybe eat at the restaurant there's never been a problem there but I'm not gonna order from them again. read more

Updated Review--We have ordered many times!!! David King's is the best!! We ordered the Triple Green Prawn for the first time and General Tso's chicken for a change and they were both fantastic!!! I'm a resident of White Plains for 20 plus year and David King has been around as long as i can remember. I have frequented this restaurant dozens of times, as well as ordered take out and delivery for gatherings and just myself as well. They have always listened to my requests, been accurate with my orders, and been courteous, accommodating, and friendly, (especially Sandy!). Delivery and take out are quick and the food is hot. There is such a wide variety of foods to choose from. They even satisfy my picky nieces desire for pork, soup, special noodles and unfamiliar,(to me), sushi/seafood items. David King happily accommodates my vegan/vegetarian lifestyle. My favorite dishes are vegetable dumplings, spicy cold sesame noodles, steamed firm tofu (sauce on the side), baby bok choy,in a white garlic sauce, brown rice, miso and spicy hot and sour soup. David King's food is delicious and plentiful. I love that it is NOT too salty nor too oily & the vegetables are colorful and cooked properly. The atmosphere is cozy, calm and inviting. Tables have cloth napkins, cloth coverings and delicious tea. So many restaurants in White Plains turnover and sadly just come and go. Thank goodness David King has been successful and remains. The place can be hard to notice at first, but I was greeted very kindly and I got complementary Jasmine tea that was perfect in temperature. I got a veggie egg roll that was super crispy and the sauce was very good. In my humble opinion I believe this is what you guy at Costco or BJ's The shrimp shumai was round chopped up not so good nuked . I can give this place a healthy 4 stars instead of my original thoughts on 3 stars simply because post-pandemic, places have struggled. So I'm light of that I'm giving my review based on the taste of the food we ordered to goo and the speed in which it was made. I'm sorry but the fried rice was not prepared fresh at all. The rice had a soggy consistency compared to the countless orders of fried rice I've ordered across many states. The noodles were also soggy as though they'd been sitting around waiting on be added to whichever dish was ordered requiring them. David King has been demoted to Earl. Quite disappointing experience. I had much fonder memories of this place that were changed fairly quickly. I stopped in here for lunch with my wife. We had high hopes based on our experiences from years ago. The hot and sour soup was peppery and fairly bland. We both had sushi roll lunch specials. The sushi rice tasted a little dry, although the fish seemed fresh. There was not a lot of spice in the spicy tuna and you don't get many extras with the lunch. It's easy enough to go down the road to Haiku for really high quality sushi at the same price. This place is better known for its Chinese food. If the hot and sour soup was any indication, I wouldn't go back for just Chinese food. I would only come back for convenience. If I could give zero stars I would. I love Chinese food but this place almost made me puke. The food felt nasty and old. I actually threw most of the food in the garbage because I felt disgusted. I've eaten here once before last year during 2021 this year I decided to stop by and pick up an order. I ordered one tuna avocado roll and one salmon avocado roll. The tuna was very fresh however the salmon had gone bad and you can taste how fishy it was. I gave them a call to let them know that there salmon had gone bad. I would hate for anyone to get sick. Ok. Let's set the tone. How do you say terrible in Chinese? I went there with my parents, on a Friday night just to grab something to munch on. The food was somewhat good, points for presentation. Dumplings are OK. But the breading on the pork dumplings was ridiculous! I asked for pork dumplings, not KFC fried chicken. Anyway, we had our entrées, which were all right but nothing special. We ask them for some of our food to go, and they hand us the containers and tell us to do it ourselves. The staff weren't busy or anything, they were just playing on their phones. Sad. I've been going to David King for about 16 years now, and in that time, I've seen and experienced a gradual decline in quality of food, service, and "atmosphere." Their soups are watered down and flavorless, and anything with a brown sauce (General Tso, garlic sauce, etc) all taste identical, and I have a lingering doubt over the freshness of everything I've had in recent memory. The owners/managers are pleasant enough, but the restaurant itself doesn't feel very clean and it's not well lit. Sorry sushi fans but I just don't like the stuff! I would consider myself to be very adventurous when it comes to food and I've definitely sampled my fair share but I can never find anything I like. My girlfriend, on the other hand, loves sushi; she just can't get enough. So, we always end up going to these sushi spots and I have to order chicken teryaki or any of the other two non-sushi menu items I have to choose from. Needless to say, it gets pretty frustrating to see 8,021 menu choices for sushi but only two other things. I guess it's my own damn fault for going to a sushi joint and trying to order something else but c'mon!! I'm just trying to be nice to my girlfriend by letting her get a spicy fish egg roll or whatever else she wants. So, imagine my reaction when I see the menu for David King. My lady can get her sushi and I can get some tasty Chinese food and even Crab Rangoon! SOLD! Now, I know this is not the only place to try this mix of Chinese/Japanese but they seem to do it pretty well. I was very satisfied with my spicy orange chicken and beef and my better half said the sushi was pretty darn good. It smelled good but the chicken tastes so fake and rubbery. I couldn't eat another bite of my MAIN DISH. The miso soup that came along was so salty why bother with that. During these chaotic times, it is really nice to know that some things haven't changed. Back in the early' 90s when I lived here, this was one of my favorite Chinese restaurants in the area. I just came back for a visit and decided to return for takeout. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken and my father ordered the Pork Egg Foo Young and we shared the Wontons with Sesame Sauce for an appetizer.
