I know that bagels aren't exactly the healthiest meal to start your day, but I can't help it - it's one of my go-to breakfast foods. In my defense, though, at least I try to keep it a bit healthier by not slathering globs of cream cheese all over it. However, when it comes to lox bagels, all bets are off. And you can be sure all bets were off when we stopped off at David's Bagels to try what my buddy says is his favorite lox & bagels around! Much like Pacifica as a whole, David's Bagels is a rather cozy, laid back sort of spot. While there isn't any seating inside (I assume a lot of folks take their order down towards the pier or the beach), they do have a display case for their pastries and treats they offer to go along with the fifteen or so varieties of bagels. Based on the photos on Yelp, most of those baked goodies, like their muffins, croissants, hamentoshen, and donuts, looked pretty enticing, but, sadly, we didn't get to try any of them since all they had left were a few different types of cookies. Since I already knew what I wanted before we even walked in, the only thing left to figure out was the type of bagel. Thankfully, I was able to get exactly what I wanted - a LOX & CREAM CHEESE ($17.75) on a Jalapeno Cheddar Bagel with Everything (Tomatoes, Cucumbers, and Capers). Although the bagel itself was notably smaller than I thought it would be, all together, this was still pretty hefty and tasty. The salmon was delicious, the veggies were fresh, they didn't skimp on the cream cheese, and, most importantly, the bagel was terrific aside from its size. The center of it was moist, it wasn't all that dense, and I love how the jalapenos were incorporated in the batter and not just laid on top. As undeniably good as the Lox & Cream Cheese was, it's hard to argue that it didn't feel a little pricey. Granted, it has gotten more expensive at just about every bagel joint and that this one came fairly loaded, but I still feel like I could find this for less elsewhere. That being said, the cost of the bagels by itself, as well as their Turkey Bagel Sandwich, are actually pretty standard. All in all, THREE AND A HALF STARS would be perfect if I could, but I'm, somewhat regretfully, rounding down for now. I may not get the Lox & Bagel here again, as it's a bit of a splurge, but I'd happily return to David's Bagels to try their other bagels and some of their other baked goodies! read more

Disappointing. We are new to the area and hoped to find a new regular breakfast spot and this place wasn't it because of the service and food. Sadly, we won't be back. Walked in Saturday morning and it was empty except for a couple waiting for their drinks. While waiting to order (since the staff was busy preparing drinks), another customer walked in and asked if the falafel bagel was available which the staff said yes to. The customer then patiently waited behind us. We were told to wait since they would be done with the drinks soon. A few minutes later, another staff member asked the other customer what he wanted in his falafel bagel and proceeded to make it. We said that we hadn't placed our order yet and the staff making the drinks said "It takes longer to make and he's a regular customer." Oh. That's how it is here. After we finally ordered and got our bagels (since we wanted to still enjoy our breakfast), we were again disappointed. The everything bagel was flat, small and kind of doughy. (Perhaps not fully cooked?) The egg and cheese with cream cheese was added sloppily. Disappointing since we have just moved here and want to support small businesses. Love the cozy vibe of this bagel shop- and most notably the good bagel. Good taste, nice bite with slight airiness that gave it that extra "mmmm" especially when it's just been warmed up or toasted. Small bagel shop near Pacifica pier, perfect for a bite before/after some fishing! A gem, too-- I got a garlic(?) bagel with cream cheese. It was warm and fluffy, but still nice and chewy. I love a bagel with some chew. The owner, David, is sweet & funny as well. It was my boyfriend's birthday and he gave us a black & white cookie(?) on the house. But really just a kind soul. The cappuccino here is excellent! For food, I ordered a bagel with lox and everything on it and David didn't skimp on any of the ingredients. The lox was very fresh and delicious. The bagel though, I thought would be warm soft and chewy, but it wasn't. It was a bit on dry and hard side. Maybe it tasted older because it was mid-late afternoon? The place is quaint. There's one cute little seating area, a bench right at the entrance. Or even better, walk 2 short blocks down to the beach and have a picnic. Not sure what the owner David's problem is, but he is very rude to paying customers, every time I come here and have the displeasure of seeing him he is always making a rude or condescending comment to his employees or a customer. Ew. He also can't seem to take criticism, always responding to other yelpers who point this out in their reviews. We walk our dog in Palmetto pretty often and always pass by David's. Every time we crave a bagel happens to be on Mondays when the place is closed. We came here in the morning when it was still cold and foggy. The honey spiced chai with oat milk was on the sweeter side but still very good. The larger size was $7, which is I guess typical in terms of prices. An everything bagel with chive cream cheese was $6 and pretty good -- actually one of the best we've had in the area -- crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The flavors were good and the cream cheese was fresh. We definitely recommend this place and the fresh pastries and drinks. Service was fast in about 10 minutes. There are a couple of benches outside but otherwise no tables to eat at. The ambiance is causal. It thought their bagel case was pretty small. They were unpacking fresh bagels from bags and restocking them into the case. So even if the case is empty, there might be some bagels in the back! read more

Small coffee and bagel store but also offers Mochi Donuts. We were not in the mood for bagels but the mochi donuts caught our eyes. It was surprisingly good and not overly sweet. We got chocolate, white chocolate and matcha, and plain sugar coated with raspberry syrup flavors. They were all super good and each had its own distinc flavor. The donut itself is crunchy but soft and chewy inside, which is my favorite texture for a perfect mochi donut. I just wish it had been a little bit warmer as the mochi donuts were premade and laid out for display. It was a bit pricey at $30 for 4 mochi donuts and 2 small plain coconut macaroons, so $5 each on average. I hope I was not wrongly charged as the cashier was looking at a small paper listing food and prices when ringing us, and I forgot to actually look for the menu price on the ceiling... my bad. read more

I got an everything bagel with Lox. I was hoping for the jalapeño and cheddar but they were sold out. The guy at the counter sold me on the everything cuz they just came out of the oven. The Lox bagel is the most expensive bagel sando on the menu. And they give you a substantial amount of salmon. So I was okay paying the price. It came with tomato, cucumber, onion and capers.
