11.28.2025 We were so happy to find this place open the day after Thanksgiving. It was a small store in the industrial district. I can't imagine how crazy this place was the days leading up to Thanksgiving. It was a self-serve store and pay at the counter. The loaves we grabbed were still slightly warm so we know they were freshly baked that morning. So many bread styles to choose from, but most of all they were SOURDOUGH! Hubby was happy with the round loaf, which was our snack for our 6-hour drive home. The flavor was spot on -- the sourdough tang was perfect, the outside was crunchy, and the inside was light and fluffy. This is definitely a place we will be stopping by when we're in the area again. We were driving to a different destination when my husband remembered that there was a 'famous" sourdough bakery nearby and he had always wanted to check it out. So we navigated to find Raymond's. It's a small bakery that sells their sourdough bread in many forms - baguette, rolls, sliced, rounds etc. They also sell half baked dough that you can finish baking at home for fresh baked bread. It's also a deli - where you can get some sandwiches made with their bread. We got a baguette and a mini round to try. We tried the baguette first while still in the parking lot - the bread was crusty outside and a little chewy inside. You can definitely taste the sourdough. Not sure what I expected but I was a little disappointed by it. The baguette did not wow me - it was good but not one I would find my way to all the time! Dutch crunch, sweet French bread, and even a little display of pastries were all available for purchase. I picked up a loaf of Dutch crunch and was shocked to find that it was still warm! Immediately I felt like I was in heaven and ready to eat all of the carbs. My only regret was not picking up anything from the fridge to bake at home myself. And I will say the pastries were whatever. Nothing my mouth watered over after the first bite. The inside was very quiet since it wasn't busy around the time we went. It took me years of living on the peninsula to find out about Raymond's and while it's not my favorite sourdough, I would still recommend this place. There are often fresh loaves coming out of the oven so you can get a warm loaf. The prices are amazing especially if you get the day old bread. The store was busy so they weren't adequately staffed for the volume that day but it's not a big deal for this establishment. As for the sourdough itself, the texture is soft. I would like a little more crisp on the exterior but that can be done at home with my own oven. Flavor wise, I prefer sourdough with a little more tang, but my favorite places in the Bay Area also cost 2x the price. In a predominately Italian neighborhood and everyone bought their bread at this one bakery it was so good, they made the best breadsticks and Italian cookies right next door was an Italian deli. We didn't realize there's a sourdough bread & bakery outlet in this area until reading Yelp reviews. Was excited to try their bread so headed there. Very easy to find and has lots of parking. Upon entering the bakery a woman with glasses is stood near the door to do cashiering. We saw shelves and refrigerated items. The sourdough bread is $7 which is pricey to us. There are baguettes (both sweet and sourdough) that are $4 each and smaller. Also there are Dutch crunch loaves, round loaves of differing types even cookies in small packages. I didn't see it at first but upon leaving there is a shelf of freshly baked cookies near the doorway opposite the cashier station. (The baguette we got is on the crusty/hard side. We prefer a bit softer texture) Why I gave 3* is because like other reviewers commented on the woman cashier is very unfriendly. We don't think she's racist just very very unfriendly. I don't know if she hates her job or what. But if someone takes a job serving the public they should be approachable and be appreciative of customers who are the ones keeping the bakery in operation. and pays one's salary. I have not seen the owner address the reviews mentioning the unfriendly woman. I really do believe he needs to address this issue because she will drive away customers. LOVE this place - what a hidden GEM!! Didn't realize it was here till we happen to find it on Yelp! Had to stop by on the way to SF and I'm SO HAPPY we did. It was near the end of their day but they still had a good selection and OMG - I love you could get their sourdough loaf sliced or unsliced and it was FRESH!!! We bought one to bring to my dads and he opened it up and we ended up eating a few slices!! Definitely had the mild "sourdough" flavor and the bread was SO TENDER and light and crispy on the outside. I love when the "crust" doesn't crumble but maintains it's crunch!! While I do love more sourdough flavor it was fine given the light texture of the bread itself. OMG and when you just add the creamy butter... SO GOOD... I definitely need to go back and get more. AND for the ones I got to bring home we couldn't eat it fast enough so I refrigerated it and toasted it when I needed it and it was still PERECT!!
