We are regulars and big fans of David's. We have mostly had great service and food there over the years. But lately, we are not impressed. We went for a late lunch on 4-28-2026 and had Kristen as our waitress. We LOVE the Hawk sandwich and can now rarely go since they changed the menu and time for lunch since we work and are now not able to get there before 4 pm to order the sandwich. Yesterday we happened to be off and chose to go to David's mainly for the Hawk sandwich. Service started off slow. The waitress finally came over and asked about drinks (we just drink water). Then a bit later she came by our table, but did not stop to take our order and no we were not still looking at menu's, we were ready to order. A bit later we she came by the table again but did not stop, so we stopped her to let her know we were ready to order. In between we needed more water and the waitress was no where to be found, so we caught a young kid and asked him for water, which he filled our glasses. The waitress took our order and it was pretty timely when the order arrived. It was correct and delicious! But then we needed more water and had to wait and track her down for more water. The service feels very slow and kind of careless anymore there. You don't get the service we once paid for. And our tips did reflect the service we received - which was not up-to-par. We also had mentioned twice in the beginning that we wanted 2 checks. And we only received 1 check. The fact was it was an exact split in half amount, but the fact of the matter is we asked for 2 checks, which has a purpose. Both parties did not receive a customer receipt copy, due to the fact that the waitress took it upon herself to only provide 1 bill/receipt. Again, we stated this in the beginning for a reason. It's sad how the way this world has become is up to what others decided and not what you ask for or expect when you are paying for a service. David's we have enjoyed a handful of years there with good food, service and the long past Hawk sandwich being on the menu - as long as you arrive before 4 pm, which is not possible for many of us who work. I am sad that we aren't and won't visit you as often as we used to and would like to. read more

It has been a very long time since I've been here and the family brought me here since they had other family visiting so we came here for dinner. We were taken to a table immediately upon coming inside. The interior was pretty nice with an "old fancy" style to it with bric fireplaces, clean white paint walls, and lots of lights. Also lots of sport decorations all over the walls. Our waitress was Shannon and she was very nice to us, taking our order nice and quick too! I ordered an individual BBQ Chicken pizza and it was pretty tasty. The cheese was nice and melty, the chicken was well cooked and there was ample of it, and the sauce combined it all together perfectly! This was a much better experience and better food than last time. The pizza was much better than the tenders I had last time I was here. I dunno why this restaurant has 1 star reviews just because of some small thing like saying they took a long time or that they claim the service wasnt good but the food was good. I came here for the first time on an open table bonus I wanted to try this place and got what I expected. Good food and good service the server came to us every 7 to 10 minutes making sure we didnt need anything. The place is also clean and nicely decorated with sports memorabilia. It was bustling when we came by and if it was closer to us we would come more often. At the end of our lunch they couldnt located the gift certificate that open table provided and still gave us the discount even though we didnt insist because it wasnt their fault. In short I couldnt see why these people gave low reviews until I saw the reviews from these same people were either all low across the board they couldnt be pleased or they just had one review on the profile probably a disgruntled employee. read more

Golf crew and I visit David's Grill often and are never disappointed. Today I tried the back 9 Burger with sweet potato fries and it was tasty. I'd recommend sticking with their regular fries as they are some of the best out there. Our waitress was friendly. Went for lunch with a friend and left wondering why we hadn't come here sooner! The staff was warm and welcoming from the moment I walked in to meet my friend, who was already seated. They were especially thoughtful in asking if we needed a different table for easier access since I had my son in his car seat. We both started with cocktails -- my friend had the Watermelon Basil Kiss, which was refreshing and flavorful, and I ordered a dirty martini that was perfectly made. For lunch, I enjoyed the teriyaki salmon bowl, which was absolutely delicious (and made me wish I could recreate it at home). Stopped in for breakfast, which was mediocre. Ordered a Bloody Mary which was the worst I ever had, I couldn't drink it, not sure what they did to screw that up. Had a side of biscuits & gravy, gravy definitely lacked flavor, biscuits were very dry. My companion had a burrito, which had juices dripping from it. Wasn't appetizing or appealing. Atmosphere wasn't what we expected from all the hype of Redhawk/David's Grill. It definitely needs a good cleaning, it was dingy, lighting in the back poor. Service was ok. Conveniently located, service is usually good, food quality is consistent. We would go there more if they included the drinks while you gamble. Pleasant outdoor dining and live music create a great atmosphere in the summer time. Brian is a great bartender on the weekends, we love to belly up to the bar for breakfast and a bloody at least once a month.Throw 20$ in a video poker machine and watch sunday football= It's our "Cheers" who doesn't want to dine at restaurant where you are recognized and friendly with the people who work there. Burgers are great, yummy chicken wings, and several tasty salads that I order regularly. Fireplaces in the bar area as well as the main dining room that gives a nice cozy feel.Great golf course views from inside and covered outdoor seating is awesome when the weather is nice. Decided to try out this place since it's close to our house. It was pretty busy golf course for a Wednesday lunch. The bar was packed but not the restaurant. The service was slow, the hostess gave us the breakfast menu instead of lunch and wasn't very chipper. Our server could've checked on us a little bit faster/more but overall good service. I got the ahi salad which was seasoned almost to perfection, the soy sesame dressing was just a little too salty, and I prefer salty dishes. But the mango cut it nicely, wish there was more bell pepper. The wasabi aoli was delicious to dip the tuna in. My mom's fish a chips were cooked perfectly today. I love having a nice consistent restaurant close by! David's has always been okay but recently they have really stepped up the food quality. A friend and I had lunch here last weekend and sat outside on the gorgeous patio! The service was excellent and the view of the course was amazing. We even had a pair of hawks fly over to their tree house. I tried the 10th Hole salad, which is just a southwestern style chicken salad. It was delicious! Huge portions, too. My friend had the Cobb without bleu cheese and it looked great. I've had the regular Cobb salad there and it is amazing! I am a frequent visitor, now. As regulars, we recognize good nights and bad nights. Tonight was mediocre. Our server was pleasant enough although was quick to present the check when we still had half full plates. She then came back as we made more progress and quickly whisked my husband's plate away without asking if he was finished, when he still had food on it. My only explanation is her mind was elsewhere and the dinner crowd was coming in and she wanted us to leave quickly so our table could be cleared for the next group. Mind you we came in at 4:00pm and it was still quite empty. We sat outside, and it was lovely. Breezy and not too hot. Sitting on the patio is always pleasant. On Friday night there is entertainment. I ordered the Friday night special, smash burger with a brew. This has to be at least the 4th time I've ordered a burger at David's and it was well done vs medium rare and overly seasoned with salt. I didn't complain or send it back. I have t learned my lesson. My suggestion is that whoever is at the grill be trained on how to cook meat properly. More than likely I won't get a burger again until I see reviews that would indicate a change has been made. The nachos and teriyaki bowl were enjoyed and are regular orders for us. I would like to point out that the young lady who cleared my plate, asked before she whisked it away. I appreciated that. It's the simple things that make a difference. Our whole family went to David's grill for Thanksgiving on Thanksgiving. It was really nice. It was roomy. We had space for a family to sit and laugh and talk. The food was wonderful a wonderful selection, the abundance of it. I've never seen so much pie in my life besides lol definitely bring your family here. It's a great time. The ambience is excellent. Kids in bars? Why are kids allowed in bars with gaming when adults are trying to relax? I was in davids a few months back, and a young couple came in with an infant and sat at the bar with the poker machines and drank mimosas. Party on mom , but come on. i love families and babies .... There was a frost delay so we had to wait for our morning teatime at the bar. We got breakfast and Bryon was the greatest bartender server I've ever seen. A couple of weeks ago I tried the pancetta Greek salad and fell in love with it. I went back and tried it again. It was disappointing. The avocado portion was meager, the greens were colorless, the dressing flavorless and the croutons soggy. Lauren, the bartender mentioned that the texture of the croutons was due to soaking up the dressing. I disagree. They were flavorless and were not even moist. The first time that I had the salad the ciabatta bread croutons were sturdy. It was a joy to use them to pick up the olive oil and lemon dressing. Not this time. They were dry, flavorless and limp. Located in the Red Hawk Golf and Country Cub in Sparks. Think I was here years ago at a Yelp event. I live downtown Reno and if you said to me let's go to David's, my initial reaction would be it's too far away. But really it was only 25 minutes without going on the highway. Go highway and cut your travel time in half. But worth the trip This is a very pretty setting. Plenty of outdoor seating surrounded by green and not parking spaces Apparently they also have a party venue, as there was a wedding going on today. Spacious inside .. tables not crowded together Today I had Fish and Chips. Generous portion, so dinner for tomorrow too. My two friends both opted for wings and salad. They were great. So food was really good. Service also very good. Full bar and nice wine list. If I've anything to complain about is that the parking is too far away. Even the handicapped parking was a bit of a walk. In fact one if our party had to be dropped at the door, as it was way to far to walk with a walker. Maybe they should have a golf cart shuttle, at least for the handicapped. I've been in Sparks for 4 years now and I'm sorry but the service sucks. The last 2 times I've been there. I sat at the bar and played the poker machines. It took 20 minutes to get a drink. I did order food when the bartender handed me my only drink. The food is good. I didn't get any utensils and used bar napkins until the bar back gave them to me. Bartender never came down to the area where I was. I finally threw $40 on the bar and left. I don't know if it was enough or too much. read more

My friend recommended that I should come and try David's grill and I was not disappointed! Upon sitting down I wasn't quite sure what to get, and I got my server Shaylee's, recommendation to try the pacific rim ahi salad. She was knowledgeable and friendly, and went above and beyond which really made this a great experience! I will be coming back in the near future. read more
