Our friends took us to this restaurant for dinner on Friday, 12/6. We had reservations which was smart as this golf clubhouse was very busy. The wood flooring, the wood tables and chairs and high ceiling made it VERY noisy. We were seated and given menus. The busboy got us water and 2 Arnold Palmers. Waitress was friendly. All four of us ordered salads and my hubby also ordered a cup of soup. We also ordered entrees right then and asked that we get our salads and soup first. It was awhile, but here came salads and soup. The Blue cheese dressing was thin and had no chunks of blue cheese in it and wasn't good. Hubby's cup of clam chowder came in a small bowl and it too, was very thin and watery and lukewarm. It came with a regular spoon, no soup spoon. After about 5 minutes here came our entrees! Yikes! We were scrambling to push salads aside and stack what we could to make room. The waitress just commented that "these tables are too small" and carefully shoved the dinner plates onto the corners of the table. Every square inch was covered with dishes and I was even holding one! Finally, the waitress realized that we were completely tied up and started taking a few empty salad plates and the soup bowl off. I asked if she'd take our hot entrees back to the kitchen to keep under the warmer until we could finish our salads, so she did. Then, once we were ready for the entrees, we couldn't find our waitress anywhere! Finally we sent the busboy to the kitchen and here came our waitress out with them. Hubby said his fish and chips tasted blah and overcooked. Our French Dips were very good. The "snakebite fries" were good too. We had trouble getting water refills. Busboy finally came and filled mine and hubby's, but didn't fill our friend's glasses while he was there. Overall, our friends were embarrassed that the meal was so unorganized and sorry they'd brought us there. It seemed they had many new servers who didn't get proper training. I had no idea what a big beautiful place this restaurant was a part of. In trying to plan a special family member event, and thinking of places nearby this came to mind. I knew it sat on a golf course but did not know the extent of it's beauty. It was everything in terms of background that I would have hoped for. There was a party of 7 of us, and customer service was quick and attentive. There was quite a few appetizers ordered, steak nachos, fries, and the portions were enormous. I ordered the chicken tacos with the choice of sides- either chips and salsa or beans and rice. I prefer my chicken shredded but all in all everything tasted good. For cocktail I ordered a valentine Themed martini which was really good. The best part was the brownie dessert it was a long tray enough to feed 5-6 so it served its purpose. So glad I went with my instinct to try David's Grill. It was a great experience and hope to come back for more. read more

We had a wonderful meal here a couple of weeks ago. It was our first time in - and our server and the hostess were extremely friendly and attentive. We started with the arinchini and Brussel sprouts - both were delicious and came out piping hot from the kitchen. I had the chicken picatta florentine - chicken picatta is one of my favorite dishes - and this was a fun spin on it that included charred tomatoes and basil along with the traditional linguine, capers and lemon sauce. We had a really good experience on our last visit. We went there for a light snack and some drinks. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. Drink order arrived promptly. We went to David's for Thanksgiving this year. Because of the weather, family visit was cancelled, so we found ourselves alone and didn't want to make a whole dinner just for us. So, off to David's we went. The buffet was nice. Not Toucan's size, but just what we needed. The food was pretty good. Turkey and Prime Rib, Salmon, Cold Seafood Display and all the fixings. By the time we got there, all the pumpkin pie was gone - sadly - but the desserts were just fine, bread pudding, pecan pie and cheesecake. We brought our own wine and were charged the corkage fee - which is fine. We were also charged a 20% service fee for the dinner. Still a good deal for such a good meal. read more

She was so attentive and did an awesome job, and they comped our dessert as it was our 36th wedding anniversary. All around today our experience wasn't the best. We booked the 90s and Nine for my husband's birthday. When we went to check in we were told it had been canceled, but not given an explanation as to why and they didn't know why people weren't notified. They did however, say they would reimburse us our money and let us play 9 holes free of charge. That was a great make up for the inconvenience. So, we decided to play and agreed to have dinner at Dave's Grill after since our event had been canceled. We made a reservation and we're sat outside. The service was not great. Server greeted me and my girl-friend right away while we waited for our husband's to return the carts and we said we'd wait sisince we just sat down. He didn't return for probably 15 minutes when our husband's joined us just a few minutes after sitting down. Moving on through dinner, we placed our orders which I was torn between two items. The Santa Fe Burger and the Chicken Sausage with Gnocchi. Chance recommended the burger, so that's what I ordered. We received our food and my burger was so burnt, all I was able to taste was the char. I took 2 bites, but couldn't get past how burnt it was. I had my burger flipped over out of the bun sitting on my plate and the plate pushed to the side. Bus boy nor the server ever acknowledged this and several employees stood around in a circle outside socializing while the patio was full of tables. Our server came and asked about boxes when the other people in our party were done eating and I had to tell them I was not eating the burger and showed the reason why, but wasn't going to order anything else at that point since the other 3 people were completely done eating and it was probably 15 minutes to closing. He removed the plate and offerres dessert. We told him it was my husband's birthday and we ordered a cheesecake. Cheesecake and check were dropped at the same time. My husband decided he was too full so he asked for a box for the dessert then he and my friends husband went to go move the cars closer to the grill. My girl-friend and I looked at the bill and I was shocked that we were charged for both the burger and the dessert. Our bill was $258. Anyways, my girl-friend and I put our cards out and it was about 10 minutes before Chance came back to get the payment. Hr was inside leaning up against the var talking. When he came to get the cards, it took about another 10 to get the cards back and without the box we asked for nor did we get pens to sign the check. I am a food and beverage manage at a local bar and grill. I cannot believe that nothing on our check was taken care of for not touching a meal or a birthday. I still tipped 20% because that is the nature in me of being in this industry for 13 years. For a $258 dinner the service did nit reflect that at all. I recommend a serving refresher for those who interacted with our table. After what we experienced tonight, I'm not sure we'd be back. read more

The arancini, tuna tartare, and roasted Brussels are good starters. My husband and I love going to David's Grill. The food is consistently excellent and the service is always very good. They are also very accommodating and will make a special burger for my husband, even if it is not being served on that day. They also will add ham to my margarita pizza to make it even more delicious. My one little complaint is that they started charging 3 dollars extra if you want their signature sidewinder fries, yet you just get a very small amount. These fries used to come standard with the burger and are magical, but for three dollars extra, we should be given a few more fries. read more

Love the outdoor patio especially on summer nights. Hearing the wind in the trees and people chit chatting all around is quite lovely. Nice place to chill after a day playing golf on the pretty course. We had a couple of appetizers - Crab Cakes (very flavorful), Arancini (tad dense but spiced nicely) and a flatbread pizza. Last weekend, I dined at Red Hawk with a couple of friends. This was my first time there and I was craving a sandwich. Before taking a seat, I noticed they had chicken soup on the menu so I knew I wanted to try it. After perusing the menu, I saw 'The Hawk' and knew this was the one for me. When the meal arrived, I couldn't wait to dive into the soup. The cup didn't last long. The ingredients were incredibly fresh which led me to believe this was made in-house. Once I was done, I wished I'd had a bowl or a trough, even, it was THAT good. The sangwich hit the spot, too. The parmesan crust on the outside mixed perfectly with the ingredients inside. I ate half so I could take the other half with me to enjoy the next day. This was a trip well spent. I'm not a golfer so I don't have a reason to be out in suburbia but I will most certainly go back soon for another delicious item from the menu. Time to update my review! A group of us descended on the bar area for drinks from 5-7pm., and quite a few of us got food orders to take home. The staff was pleasant and patient with us and our "chaos." Afterwards, my husband and I had dinner. I had fish tacos, which came with lots of shredded cabbage, radishes, etc. I was especially pleased that I didn't have to request lime wedges; they were on the plate. He had chicken piccata Florentine. The chicken breast, fresh spinach, and spaghetti were topped with a nice lemony sauce and capers. The dining area was not crowded at all. We went last Friday night and they weren't that busy. We had to wait a few minutes to get a seat which wasn't bad. when the waitress came out she wasn't very friendly. So that started everything, we did get our drinks and we ordered. I ordered the French dip when the French dip came out this blonde with the long braided ponytail, slopped the food onto the table and I didn't notice the dipping sauce had spilt. She was a snot, and I tried to be friendly and she just rolled her eyes at me then ask do you need anything else? Wow wow how rude! So anyways we started to eat and I picked up my bread and it was so soggy. The french fries were soggy, so I'm trying to eat it because I was so hungry and it was hot food. The waitress didn't come back for a long time. I ended up eating halfway through the half side of the sandwich, and when I picked the other one up, it was just I couldn't stomach it anymore. The waitress finally came back and asked how everything was and I said it was mushy and she said oh I'm sorry, Well she did apologize. She said I'll bring some bread out and you could trade it out so she left and then the manager came back with the bread. I asked him, do you see how mushy the sandwiches is? he looked at the sandwich and he says yes I do. I'm sorry here's your bread. He had nothing else to say it's like I don't know what I really expected other than a perfectly meal not slop. I do not recommend this place. I told the waitress when she finally came back again that I want that sandwich taken off my bill and she did but it's like, these people don't care how they come across how the meal comes across. They're trying to come off like they're a golf course fancy restaurant they're not it's slop I will never come back. I am a local here. I would have agreed with the #1 review I read until yesterday. Usually the service is fine, the food is good, and the experience is pleasant. We eat their during the day with a couple that has been going there for years. Yesterday we came into an almost-empty restaurant, with only one table in use. Many people were seated outside. The five of us were told we needed to wait. No one came to help for at least 5 minutes. There was no inside staff. When a fwaiter finally came to seat us, he led us toward the tables outside in 95 degree heat; I said no, and he put together 2 tables in a basically empty dining room. His service was good initially, then 2 others brought out the food. We had no utensils, and had to chase someone down to get them. The waitstaff was pleasant, but how hard could it be to set up the tables, seat five people in an empty dining room, and make sure they had what they needed? I assume they were understaffed, and there was no evidence of a supervisor or any support for the waitstaff. Small things make a restaurant good, not just the food or the view. read more

We came for their Thanksgiving Dinner and walked away completely disappointed. We have ate Thanksgiving there a couple times before, but it's been 2 years. The food was ok. Basic Thanksgiving fare. Nothing special really. The dessert selection included pumpkin pie and pecan pie. That's it. The menu said something like "An assortment of desserts". Yeah right. On top of it all, they were charging $75 a person!!! It used to be MUCH LOWER. Just a 2 - 3 years ago! We had 8 in our party. They automatically charged us $120 as a gratuity! This is wonderful restaurant to eat at. Close to home, my husband and I eat there frequently. I usually get the French Dip and my husband gets either the Fish and Chips or the Street Tacos. The waiters and waitresses are always on the ball, making sure that your water and drinks are always full and that you aren't waiting. There are times when your food takes a little longer to get to the table, but we have always been kept informed of the delay. This is a more expensive restaurant, so I wouldn't recommend it for a large family unless you don't mind spending more. Since I live in the area, I've been coming to David's since it's opening. I used to eat there often during the first few years, but then through the changes in management and staff, things became less consistent and I don't frequent there as often; usually for a Sunday brunch when friends or family is in town. I decided to go in for lunch and watch some football. The place is very nice; always has been. Beautiful views of the golf course and fall trees are nice and serene. The restaurant is clean and tastefully decorated. The staff was very attentive and friendly. I chose to sit at the bar and watch 3 separate football games. I started with a mimosa; can't go wrong. I decided to have the steak salad...and this is the reason for my 5 star review. I ordered my steak medium rare. I've had many steak salads, and they are usually good. Nothing surprising or otherwise remarkable. This one though, is amazing. My steak was prepared perfectly. Wonderfully seasoned and tender enough to cut with my butter knife. The salad was a very nice mixture of greens with just enough arugula to add a pleasant spicey bitterness. Not over dressed by any means, the dressing is delicious. The very best part, and what took this dish over the top for me, was the two wedges of polenta. The polenta is the X factor to this dish. The portion is perfect for the salad. Light, creamy, buttery, and silky....this is the best polenta I've ever had. I could have made a meal on it alone! Paired with the steak salad, the portion left me very satisfied, but already wanting to go back again. I've been thinking of this wonderful dish since I finished it. And I finished every morsel. This, to me, is the ultimate test for a great dish...I can't wait to go back and order it again! I'm afraid this has ruined all other steak salads for me. Unfortunately, I did not take a picture. This is by far, one of the BEST restaurants I've ever been to! From everything to their host stand, their servers, their management, and most importantly their food & dessert! Was able to try a good amount of their menu in a week's timespan... and I was not disappointed one bit with ANY of their menu items. Went there for a birthday Dec. 30. We thought we were going to have 7 people which we had reservations for but when we started to sit down 5 more showed up. The people working there immediately set up more tables for us with no hassle. The service was great considering they were very busy. We had kids with us so the menu was great for kids and adults.
