I found Long and his brother through Yelp earlier this year when searching for hardwood floor…read morerestoration for a rental house. Other installers took one look at the floors and immediately started raising their quotes by two or three-fold. I get it, with 15+ years of student tenant wear and tear, this was not going to be an easy job in the slightest. However, Long, to his credit, did not try and take me or my mother for a ride for his own financial gain. Not only did his quote come in the lowest of all of them, he was also able to start the soonest. He finished in exactly the amount of time he quoted and made these extremely beaten up floors look brand new. His restoration work made all the difference when we put the house back on the rental market. We were able to attract a whole category of kind of tenant. Fingers crossed, the much less destructive kind. We have since asked him back to lay down vinyl flooring and he did an impeccable job. Will gladly call him again for all future work we need. He does excellent work, is great at communicating, and an all around lovely guy!

Long was communicative throughout the entire process, gave me a reasonable and fair quote, and did excellent work on the installation. Transitions, baseboards, and fine details were flawless. - No surprises, no hidden fees--just honest, fair pricing and clear communication. They stood by their word, every step of the way. Tom's did the floors in my unit a few weeks ago. Here are my thoughts:…read more Pros: - Communication: Generally very prompt communication. I wish I got more updates during construction but they sent them whenever I asked. I liked that they were very contentious about talking with my neighbor when their van was blocking a little bit of their driveway--a lot of contractors wouldn't bother. I also had another neighbor who was causing some issues and they kept me in the loop, which I appreciated. - Price: I talked to several contractors and their price was pretty reasonable--not the lowest nor the highest, more in the middle. Cons: - After construction, I noticed some damage on parts that were supposed to be protected. They were minor damages, but annoying. The most noticeable one was a dent on my TV, which left a white dot that I see every time I turn on my TV, which sucks. - In terms of details, I noticed that there were some dings in pretty noticeable parts of the wood. I don't know if it was the crew or the wood came like that, but when I was testing a wood sample before purchasing, I hit the wood with a hammer and it didn't leave a mark, so it would take a lot of force to leave a dent like the one pictured. Kinda disappointing because the dent is smack in the middle of a high traffic area. Some last notes: - David came by to do a final walk through and helped me move some of the heavier furniture back. It didn't bother me but if you're expecting furniture to be put back the way it was originally, you'll want to manage your expectations. - You should definitely hire painters and cleaners after the construction--I didn't think the walls were going to be as scuffed up as they were. And everything will be superrrr dusty, even if it's covered. - When I expressed concern about not all baseboards being replaced, which I thought was the scope of work, he explained that he told his crew to use existing baseboards when possible. He said he did this to save me some cost and offered me $150 to cover the savings. I generally feel positive about this, although if I hadn't mentioned it I don't think it would've come up, so take that for what it's worth.

The store is unexpectedly massive with many great engineered hardwood flooring options. I arrived at the store in a mild crisis state as I was unhappy with the vinyl flooring selections our interior designer has recently picked out for the renovation of our house built during the Edwardian period. She picked this out because vinyl was "cost-friendly," but I quickly found out many great engineered hardwood sections that were cheaper and nicer looking than vinyl with TJ's help. TJ was chill, nice, and talked to my fiancé and me for two hours, educating us on engineered hardwood flooring and helping us pick out almost 4,000 sq ft of 4 different types of flooring for four different units to help us maintain the original beauty of the Edwardian building and stay under budget. We ended up saving over $10K switching from vinyl to engineered hardwood by purchasing from The Floor Store!

Bailey was very approachable and knowledgeable. He provided stylistic and customized insights to help us create great designs for both the kitchen and the bathrooms. Bailey is truly genuine to help the clients without any pushiness, so we felt very comfortable to rely on his advice. He helped us arrange for the kitchen cabinets, countertops, tiles, and many accessories, often following up with calls to confirm details with contractors. Everything turned out beautifully. Highly recommend!

KZ was one of the reasons my recent remodel finished in four weeks…read more I started at KZ early in the process after visiting a few other stores and feeling both underwhelmed by their selections and overwhelmed by figuring out what I actually needed. On that first visit I met Bailey, who ended up becoming a key part of the project. I came in with measurements from my contractor, rough layout ideas, and a general sense of what I wanted: drawers instead of mostly base cabinets, quartz countertops, and a way to turn a small, dysfunctional kitchen into something thoughtfully designed with proper prep space. Bailey took those requests and my contractor's initial mockups and developed a layout. I was immediately impressed by his thoughtfulness and attention to detail. He also included things I would not have known to ask for, including a blind corner pull out "peanut" cabinet that turned dead space into some of the most usable storage in the kitchen. He explained his decisions when asked and found solutions as needed, for example suggesting a microwave cabinet when I mentioned not knowing where to put that. I left excited about the project and hopeful it could actually come together. He was consistently responsive to my many questions afterward. He sent estimates for different options so I could compare costs, such as a 4-inch versus full-height backsplash, and shared renderings of the cabinet and countertop combination. Seeing the space rendered that early was a significant moment for me. His involvement continued well beyond placing the order. As the project progressed, Bailey made sure everything was delivered properly, communicated directly with my contractor, answered questions as they came up, kept suggesting ways to improve the project, and made sure everything was set up correctly for countertop templating. The fabricator, Rafael, was also excellent and did a beautiful job. He and Bailey suggested adding another slab of quartz so we could do a full waterfall on the exposed ends of the counter. I took their advice and I am very glad I did. It made a huge difference and made that part of the design feel complete. I was also happy with KZ's pricing and selection. I visited four cabinet and countertop stores, and KZ had the best overall selection I found. Their prices were extremely competitive without sacrificing features or quality. The cabinets have plywood boxes, soft-close doors and drawers, and full-extension drawers, and they arrived fully assembled rather than flat-packed. My contractor had specifically told me not to buy RTA cabinets and these were straightforward for him to install. All of my other interactions with KZ were positive too. Delivery drivers called ahead, other employees in the store were helpful, and the factory expedited part of my order for an additional charge when my fast schedule required it. One thing worth mentioning for anyone considering KZ is the type of experience they provide. This is not a full-service design firm where someone makes every selection and manages every detail for you. I had to be a little assertive on my first visit because there were a limited number of design/sales reps available, but once I connected with Bailey the experience was excellent. You will get the most out of KZ if you come in with measurements and some idea of what you want, are willing to look around and give input, and are okay following up with questions. When I did reach out, Bailey was very responsive. Some practical things to know: they do not offer financing, some costs such as fabrication are settled separately and in cash, and delivery is extra if you cannot pick up the order yourself. Mine was around $500 for 18 cabinets plus panels and hardware, delivered about an hour away. I think some of the savings come from this model, but it helps to have the right expectations. My entire remodel took about four weeks, including a full primary bathroom and extensive changes throughout the house, with the KZ order placed roughly one week before construction began. A lot of the credit goes to my excellent contractor, but KZ's responsiveness, timely deliveries, and efficient work were a major factor in keeping things moving. It was night and day compared with buying my other materials through large home improvement stores. When I had questions or concerns, it usually took a simple text to Bailey to resolve them. I am super happy with the finished kitchen and with my experience at KZ. I recommend them to anyone looking for cabinets or countertops, and I am especially grateful to Bailey and Rafael for how much care they put into my project.
