First let me begin this review by saying my family and I have been shopping here for years. My Dad in 2006, and myself in 2009 after I became of legal purchasing age. Davidson's has always had competitive prices, and I have probably spent a couple thousands dollars over the years, but after my appalling experience here tonight my money will be headed elsewhere. I came in tonight to pick up 2 bottles of rum that have been out of stock since the middle of November. I finally got a call at the beginning of this week saying the product was back on the shelf. This part I am not so mad about, because I understand issues with distributors, but that is still a long time to wait for rum. My friend and I walked in picked up some wine and headed to the customer service desk. When we arrived at the desk, before asking us if we needed help, the cashier snapped as us asking if we had our I.D.s. I said yes and my friend said no. He told her to immediately leave and then looked at me and said I could not pick up my rum or complete a purchase. I was trying to ask questions, but the clerk was unresponsive, so I asked him to grab a manager. After the clerk glaring at me for 5 minutes the manager finally walked up. Now maybe it's because I'm a mid-twenties girl or perhaps it's because I look younger than I am (mind you my friend and I are both 26), but whatever the case this manager talked to me like I was idiot. He told me he could only sell liquor to "responsible people" and that I "should control my friend so she has her ID". I was simply trying to ask when I could come back and make my purchase that I've been waiting so long for and he wouldn't tell me when. I asked if I could drive around and come back and he told me no, because he would come out and check my car to make sure my friend was not in the car. I told him that was ridiculous and he told me to get out. Now after reading the Colorado liquor code and liquor rules, there is no law saying that there cannot be liquor transported in a vehicle with people over the age of 21 (http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite/Rev-Liquor/LIQ/1213089708777). And after all of this, I headed to Incredible Wine & Spirits alone, and my wine that I wanted to purchase from Davidson's was actually cheaper at Incredible Wine & Spirits. I like coming to Davidson's Liquor for these reasons: 1. It's fairly close to my house 2. They have lots of wine for me to choose from 3. They run specials all the time so I can stock up on wine standards The people that work there have always been really helpful when I need something. They pack things up very well and are nice enough to help you out to your car when you've got a little too much to carry. I am down in this area every couple of weeks. I had heard much about this place so I had decided to check it out. I have now gone by a couple of times to give it a chance. Where this place excels for me is in their high end whiskey selection. If you are a bourbon fan and have the money this place is great. However, there is a steep fall from the high dollar bourbons back to the level that can be found anywhere around town. There was almost nothing in the mid range ($25-$40/btl) of any remark. They had no Weller's of any kind. I was hoping to find some Weller's Antique (which I find from time to time at stores near me on the north side of town). The beer selection is also a bit disappointing. Not bad but not great for a store of this size and reputation. The prices hear also are higher than at the stores I frequent. There really is no reason for me to make the trip back here. If you live close by it's not a bad place but there are better places in the same area. read more

My very favorite liquor store! It's huge! I can always find what I'm looking for at a competitive price, something new to try and the staff is exceptional. I love that I can email their beer specialist questions about inventory/recommendations and he not only responds, but provides me with the door numbers!! Thanks Chris!! Their reward program is pretty cool too, though it is slightly alarming how quickly we rack up our savings. Oh, and I LOVE their tasting events. I've only been able to make it to one, but it was memorable and fun. I always see their event emails come across and I always look at my calendar hoping by some miracle I can figure out a way to pawn my kids off on someone so I can go, but usually to no avail. One of the better liquor stores, in particular wine stores in the city. The only one I've frequented more that has a better selection (particularly French wines) is AppleJacks. In addition to their wine selection, (their Italian and Spanish is the best I've seen in the city) their beer selection is huge as well with two walls worth of fridges. Liquor selection (tequila especially) is also very large, varied, and extensive. Additionally, they've got a great cigar humidor with one of the better cigar selections. (outside of an actual cigar shop) If you catch them during their inventory reduction sale, pay off the credit card before walking in. read more

Davidsons isn't the biggest liquor store in the Denver area, but its selection seems to be on par with Tipsy's Liquor World out west and Argonaut near downtown. We've never had trouble finding what we're looking for here, including when my husband has gone on a quest for some pretty unique Scotch whiskies. They have a wide selection of wines that are grouped helpfully by type and location. There's an entire aisle of Colorado products-- it's fun to see everything together like that, and I've discovered a few new-to-me items that way as well. They also have an entire wall of beer, and a decent selection in the make-your-own six-pack fridge. Prices are reasonable, and things are frequently on sale. Employees have been knowledgeable and friendly, even on crazy days like a few hours before the Superbowl or the morning of Thanksgiving. Their customer rewards program is handy as well. The location is super easy right off of 470, so I'd recommend it even if you don't live or work in the immediate vicinity. read more

Before we relocated to Denver, we had heard about Davidson's from a couple we had met during our vacation in Honduras last year. So, with that tip, we looked online and started going through the beer list which is listed by state. Needless to say we were STOKED to find this place!!!! We can find our favorites from Oregon, California, Massachusetts, Vermont, and the like. We're usually like kids in a candy store in the vast beer aisle, but also perusing all the wines. Davidson's is *the* liquor store I shop at. Yes, it's got a less-than-upscale warehouse feel, but the selection is out of this world. I would have no reason to ask for more beer choices, I rotate my vodka selection based on what's on sale (there's always something good to choose), and the wine--I haven't found a better selection in Colorado. The staff is helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable to boot. Pushing them from four stars to outstanding!, we had them provide the beer and wine for our wedding. They were more than accommodating, gave us a kickass deal, and delivered on-time, in one piece, and properly chilled. No reason to go anywhere else! read more

I grew up going to Davidson's - no, not literally, but my mom and dad used to purchase all their wine and beer here (and I believe they still do). I have a love affair with this particular store, not because of the long, clean aisles full of booze, but rather the red wine selection. They have some great reds, particularly Spanish and Chilean. The store is nicely organized and I always know where I am going - prices range just a tiny bit lower than what I find in Denver, but not by much. Why the four stars and not five? I love Spanish, Argentinean and Chilean wines, but where I get the best recommendations is at the wine stores I frequent in Denver, not Davidson's. Ask them anything about liquor or beer and they know it all, but I still think they have a bit of a way to go with their wine knowledge. read more

Davidsons is very large and very well stocked liquor store that carries a pretty cheap price tag on their inventory. They boast something like 64 doors of beer and another 9 double-length aisles of spirits, and another 9 of wine. I've always been able to find what I was looking for, no matter how odd the year or vintage of wine. Super convenient location - right off 470 and Quebec so you're home in a jiffy. A little far from my home but I don't mind the trip sometimes because: - Prices are sweet - HUGE variety of spirits, wines, beer ... and cigars! a 1-stop shop. - Nice loyalty program - Often have tastings with creative cocktails and some beer/wines that I would not have tried otherwise. - Staff are a bunch of geeks! If you want to know something, just ask - they love talking about their stock (and no pressure to buy). The selection here is amazing, and the sales on my favorite wines are frequent and fantastic for saving money. Floor staff is very helpful, but not necessarily knowledgeable or able to recommend wines for certain palates when asked. I have also had some uncomfortable experiences with being accused of being underaged, and had my license examined as if it might be fake on occasions when I've gone in without makeup/nicer clothes on. However, I'm generally pretty insistent on being treated well, and my entitled rage generally makes the cashier back down in a quick manner- As well as the mention that I have a membership with them, since that apparently has some weight in how believable your age is. I come here because the prices are good and the selection is good, but the customer service leaves something to be desired, especially at the registers. Come for the wine and wear your eyeliner, or you'll be accused of being a minor. read more

My favorite liquor store! This is a great option for liquor store. It's quite big and there is a lot to choose from, good selection of wine, beers or whatever you are looking for. It has competitive prices. I say that because I don't consider them being cheap prices. Alcoholic beverages are overpriced in general. But Davison's Liquor has better prices than most. It does have sale items every week which is cool. Check-out is usually fast. Employees are fine, you can ask them for advice. This place sure earns my approval stamp. read more

Especially if you live in the South Metro area, Davidson's begs the question, "why go anywhere else for beer, wine, or spirits?" They are consistently offering market leading prices for beer & wine. The store is bright, clean, well stocked with a huge selection, and the customer service is exceptional. There are usually distributor's reps in the store offering advice or discounts. For example, Saturday the Ravenswood Winery rep was handing out discount coupons and offering free passes for lift tickets to Cooper Mountain with the purchase of a case of their wine. Great selection and great prices but the reason I keep going back is because of the staff. They are so helpful but particularly Dave is extremely helpful. He knows his stuff and will gladly share it with you. He has helped me pick out Bourbons, Scotches and Whiskeys. I recently asked about a particular liqueur that they did not carry but he researched what "notes" that liqueur had and was quick to recommend the perfect substitute. And to be honest, the substitute was actually better than the original item I was looking for. If you have any questions, seek out Dave! The points system is also great with double point Tuesdays. The only negative is their parking spaces are extremely narrow but I won't ding them for that. I just hope they repaint them normal size so I can get in and out more easily. read more

Excellent Delivery Service We had Davidsons deliver beer and wine to a wedding reception. Roughly $900 worth. Here are the kudos to the store. - $10 delivery within a certain boundary. Our venue was just outside but they delivered still for $10 - 10% discount on all bottles of wine and cases of beer not already on sale - Delivered on time with a great attitude - Purchased back all unopened case boxes and 6pks of beer and all bottles of wine WITHOUT any percent penalty/fee When I returned the alcohol, they closed a check out line just for me. It was efficient, reasonably quick, very friendly. I would absolutely recommend their services for any event you're having. Great Job! read more

When you google home delivery in Littleton, a number of places pop up, but the websites are useless. This is not true here. This store has a decent selection but has really failed me in terms of customer service--nothing to gush over here. I have gone in several times looking for a specific product and they are either out of the product or have little desire to help me find something different. I have to probe to get information out of these people. Some of them seem put off for just asking a question. The crowd of customers this store attracts seems to be a reflection of this mentality. I go here all the time I'm a known regular I know many employees and managers and they always treat me so well. I went in tonight and was waiting at the cigarette counter for 5 min while an employee stood with his back to me with nobody in his line. (An older fat man at register 4) I called him over twice and he looked at me and turned back around. Extremely rude and unprofessional. Someone who was already busy ended up helping me. (Young girl at register 1) I asked why the other guy didn't just help me since he wasn't doing anything. No response. I've used pictures of my ID in many different places. I'm a bartender and all bars I know of accept pictures of IDs for when wallets get stolen. The employees tonight were extremely rude and unprofessional. One issue or the other wouldn't have been such a problem but tonight everyone there was terrible at their job. Terrible customer service. Especially with an account number they refused to even try and verify my info. I know randy personally I know he isn't there anymore but I am so disappointed at how they treat people now. With all the talk about wine in my reviews, Its about time to discuss where it comes from. Davidson's is one of those places. They have really good sales and a GREAT selection of wine from Italy and France, which is where I usually choose from-- however the other wine-producing countries don't need to get jealous, as their selection is great for wine (and alcohol in general) from all over the world. The store is huge. While they have an enormous selection of beer (and wine), the one problem with the beer department is that 80-90% of it is available only in six packs (or larger). While that may not sound like a big deal, for beer hunters/raters, it sucks big time. Our habit is to buy single bottles of several things to try them out. Having to buy entire sixers of everything we want to try (and for many of us, that's EVERYTHING they have) is out of the question. They do offer several doors of singles for products that aren't sold in sixers (500mL, 750mL, the American 22oz bomber, etc.), but this selection pales in comparison with the best competition. Still, when one asks "what stores carry a large selection of beer?", one must grudgingly include Davidson's. In terms of sheer selection, it's one of the biggest. But you will have to buy most of it in quantity. Ok, then there's the wine. Great selection of Aussies, including many sought after cultish vintners. So by association I have to assume the selection of other countries is equally good. Prices are quite good too. In addition, you can have a snoop in the closed-off wine room for the more interesting (and pricy) rarities. Get this...I have seen Petrus here. That should tell you how selective the wine buyer is. I've never seen Petrus ANYWHERE, and didn't even know it was available to mortal retailers. This is $2000/bottle Bordeaux (when on the market, though older vintages from collections can command just about any price you can think of) that usually is restricted to certain ultra-posh restaurants and people in secret societies, that sort of thing. But Davidson's had it. I looked at those bottles with my own eyes, and to this day am still haunted by it. It was almost like coming across a "real" copy of the Necronomicon (if it were not a fictional thing, mind you). Someone here is HARDCORE. Competent but unexciting liquor selection. Again, prices were pretty good. Not the best, but better than most. Great store overall, I just wish they'd offer the 12oz beers in singles. read more

Tried the home delivery option. The website processed my order telling me to expect my delivery on 3/19. Received a call from a gentleman on 3/19 explaining I would receive my delivery on 3/20. On 3/22 I called Davidsons to find out what happened to my order. A member of the staff put me on hold after I explained I needed help with my delivery. She mentioned going to see if Ben was still there. A few minutes later I my call was disconnected. I guess I am out the money I was charged for the order, which included a $10 trip charge and a tip. While I typically frequent stores a bit closer to home for my normal stuff, this is the place I come when I'm looking for something new. Some of the wines come with descriptions as well, which is helpful for me since I'm not that knowledgeable. And, the prices are definitely reasonable. read more

Very good selection and decent prices. The depth of their beer selection is pretty good and better than I have found in comparison with other Denver area stores. It seems that most stores are very Colorado-microbrew- heavy, but Davidson's had good choices of Belgian and other European brews. I thought the single-malt scotch, rum, and vodka selections pretty deep, too. Wine selection was pretty good. I would like to see more choices in the non-CA and French selections, however. read more

We just love Davidson's for wine shopping. Although this looks like a big box store, they have plenty of the upscale selections, and an exclusive room for the top selections ($$$$$). I can never get through the "specials" up front without grabbing a few bottles to try. They post the awards and point ratings on the shelves and I really appreciate that. We buy everything from cooking wine to our favorite Napa and Sonoma brands to good European selections. All aisles labeled so you know where to go. Not sure what to buy to go with your dinner? Ask them and they'll help guide you. You just can't miss. My son loves the beer varieties, and I'll let him review them! At the holidays they have great gift-giving ideas. Went there specifically for something only they carry in all of Colorado: Hochstadter's Rock & Rye. Was wowed by their vast selection of....everything! Loved that the guy stocking in the whiskey aisle knew his stuff, especially when we mentioned Pappy Van Winkle. We went for the one thing, but left with some bombers and even grabbed some fun things to round out the home bar from their clearance section. Bright, clean, organized, friendly.
