The pizza and rice ball were served on real plates not paper, and real silverware. The crust on my Sicilian slice was perfect, like a slightly thinner version of focaccia. I haven't actually eaten in the restaurant yet but ordered take-out several times. The food from here is excellent, generous portions and really delicious. The salad slice is delicious, the crust is thin and the dressing with it is really good. The mona lisa chicken is delicious, garlicky and lemony. My favorite dish is the Eggplant/Chicken Granita. The sauce is so awesome, full of caramelized onions. My only qualm is that both times I've ordered it they have not put in the potato croquette. It also was supposed to include sautéed spinach (not there as well). Probably some of the best garlic knots I've ever had. Maybe we'll go there to eat one of these days. Fantastic authentic and then some Italian food!! My friend kept raving about this place and I must say for some reason I didn't expect it to be that terrific. Well I was wrong. I tried chicken meatballs which I didn't want to even think about and they were out of this world! I then wanted to stick to something more traditional so I can better judge how good the food is so I ordered rigatoni ala vodka and chicken. I don't want to sound Too over the top but it was simply delicious!! One of the best I've had and that's compared to extremely pricey places in the city. The place is big and clean. Emphasis on clean. The service is fantastic and the hostess is a doll! By the time it took me to think of me wanting something i.e. Extra Parmesan cheese, they were already coming over to me! My favorite pizza when I'm in the long beach/island park area! The classic pizzeria standbys here are always great - their Parmesan game is tight, and the pastas and dinners are all top notch. The pizza is incredible, and is just as good, if not better, than any of the top places in NYC, and at a great price. Staff is always courteous, attentive, and super-fast, and they always have a smile. Quiet, simple and charming place. Sometime there is live singer there, and if you will call before you can make sure that this is the right night. It has been a while since I had dinner with a professional signer in the background, and I can tell you that I really missed it. Italian restaurants on Long Island, especially the south shore are plentiful but good ones are hard to find. Recently, I had the opportunity to sample DeVinci's in Island Park and I can tell you that it was a surprisingly pleasant find. Here is my restaurant review of Island Park's DeVinci's: Last Saturday night, my husband and I were asked to join two friends at DeVinci's in Island Park. I had passed by the restaurant but always thought it was jus a pizzaria. Entering the restaurant, we were greeted by an extremely friendly hostess who told us to take a seat at the bar. Within moments, we were seated in a booth in the back of the restaurant. We were a little concerned because there were two big parties there, but we were able to hear our party and the noise level didn't bother us one bit. Every single table was taken and there was a line at the bar to get in. (If you want a reservation on a Saturday night, I would suggest a reservation.) We ordered a bottle of wine and a couple of different appetizers and four entrees. We shared the baked clams and the artichoke hearts. They were fresh and delicious. My husband and I shared two -- Shrimp Oreganata and Veal Sorrentino. They came with a choice of a house salad, caesar salad, pasta or potato and vegetable. I had the salad, my husband had the potato and vegetable. His vegetables came out julienned, steamed and extremely fresh. Both the shrimp and the veal tasted fresh with a little more sauce than I would have liked but the sauce was very tasty. The portions were extremely large and we couldn't even finish both meals. The wine list wasn't huge but had a nice variety of European and Californian wines that were reasonably priced. I think the most expensive bottle was in the $40's, which is pretty inexpensive. After the meal, we were stuffed so we didn't order dessert but when we heard the birthday song being sung to a 85 year old woman who looked 65, we joined in with the celebration. The birthday girl offered us a piece of white on white birthday cake that I couldn't refuse. That Monday, my husband and I went back to try out some other entrees. This time I chose the Chicken Romano with pasta (oil and garlic, which is a $3 up charge) and he ordered the Veal Francese with spaghetti with white clam sauce (also a slight up charge). They were both superb. I even brought my Chicken Romano home to have the next day and truly enjoyed it. The chicken has a breading on it and is baked with eggplant and mozzarella cheese in a pink sauce. I still am thinking about how delicious it was! This time, we tried the dessert -- a slice of Tiramisu, which was large enough for two! I had a small taste. It was incredible. If I wasn't so full, I would have also tried the cannoli or the cheese cake but a little taste of tiramisu was delightful. read more

Compared to many of the local Italian eateries in the area, we find ourselves coming back to this one, specifically for the Penne Alla Vodka: the penne is almost always al dente, you can see the chunks of prosciutto, and the pasta is NOT drowning in a thin sauce, the sauce is somewhat thick, full flavored and slightly tangy. Other dishes we like: Chicken Francese Shrimp Scampi Manicotti PIZZA I order regular Neopolitan slices for my youngun's and grab a corner Grandma slice for myself, which tastes so much better, probably due to the San Marzano tomato sauce. The hubby is partial to the BBQ chicken slice, while my 7 year old gets the Penne Alla Vodka slice on Fridays. The reason why this place gets five stars from me is their Da Vinci Salad: along with the greens, this humongous dish comes with toasted walnuts, dried cranberries, cherry tomatoes, sliced beets, red onions, chunks of Gorgonzola, and raspberry vinaigrette. NOTE: I am not a salad or vegetable person, especially beets (blah), but this combination is a perfect mix of sweet and savory, not to mention the many health benefits of its individual components. Worth mentioning again, this salad is a meal in itself. Also worth mentioning, they have pizza pie specials two nights a week, for those nights when you just don't feel like cooking, and lunch sized portions of all their dishes are $10 at lunch time. The staff is also very nice, they have even brought my order out to my car saving me the trouble of bringing my sons out for a quick pick up. I have never eaten in the dining area, this is a place I frequent for take out, delivery or the casual seating area. Decent italian sit down pizza/restauraunt in Island Park which is fairly limited for it's eatery choices. The food is good, nice pastas and some great baked clams. The only issue I have with them as of lately is their inconstinenty, the last 4-5 times something was a little off with something, hence loosing a star. Anyone who knows me well, knows that I LOVE Italian food. If I had to, I could survive on it for the rest of my life. That being said, I've had Italian food just about anywhere a person can get it. DaVinci's is right at the top of my list. Here's why. Would I say this is a traditional fancy Italian restaurant? No, but the food sure is good! The salads are great. Always crisp and tasty. I love their chicken parm and they also have delicious and creative types of pizza. From their cold grilled chicken caesar pizza to their hot ala vodka slice, you just can't go wrong with whatever you choose. The pasta is never under or over cooked, the sauces are phenomenal and the portion sizes are very good. Not huge, but certainly not small. When you walk in, it looks like a typical pizzeria, however they have 2 pretty large dining rooms with full wait staff that give it much more of a true restaurant feel. I do a pretty good amount of take out as well as dine in and either way the food quality is consistent. They also deliver which is a nice accommodation. Over the years I've developed somewhat of a relationship with the manager/owner. He's a very nice guy and even sent me several free deserts one night when a delivery order wasn't right. They always seem to do the right thing for their customers. In fact, they cater a lot of my Brokers Open Houses and always make sure the food is hot and fresh, I have everything I need in the way of utensils and paper goods and most importantly it's at the right price.
