There is nothing in this whole world like a New Jersey Bacon egg and cheese on a toasted everything bagel with hot sauce with a Snapple. Nothing. No one can debate me on this. It's time to give credit where it's due. Their yeast donuts are delicious and the size of my head! The classic glazed is still my all-time favorite and the bagel sammies are always a perfect 10. Happy I didn't give up on this place. There's usually a long line in the morning and they power through it like ninjas. Midday is very quiet and the options have dwindled, of course, but there's usually still bagel options. However, the donuts are super limited bcz everyone wants to get their hands on one. My new favorite bagel place! Any time I've tried to go there, they have a line out the door (with one exception: bright and early at 7am) but everything moves pretty quickly. I've tried the salmon bagel sandwich with chive cream cheese (my personal favorite), the pastrami sandwich (a close second), and various combos of bagels and cream cheese...it seems like there are endless options! The staff is always friendly and I appreciate being able to order ahead via Yelp/Grubhub. They always have everything ready to go on time and I will continue to be a loyal customer! read more

I wanted to surprise a friend visiting Boston with these donuts because she had heard the hype around Boston's delicious but also very instagrammable donuts. I got her six flavors (maple bacon, strawberry sprinkles, boston crene, fruity pebbles, nutella and butternut crunch) and they sure did not disappoint. That being said, I went to order the donuts at 7:30am on a Saturday and was surprised to find a number of people already on line to order breakfast sandwiches, bagels, coffee, or donuts. We tried Davis Square Donuts and Bagels and were really impressed with both the donut and bagel options. Both tasted fresh and were full of flavor. Probably one of the best bagels we've had in the Cambridg area along with Bagelsaurus. The donuts were also really good, and they are huge! You can definitely share one with two people. Listen up people, you know this place is good when there's a line out of the door at 9AM on a cold Saturday morning!!! This place has the TRIFECTA of breakfast foods: bagels, donuts, and coffee. I ordered an Asiago bagel with chive cream cheese and an iced latte. The Asiago was sharp and crispy and cream cheese was so soft and fluffy. Aka bagel heaven. This place has a great assortment of bagels, spreads, sandwich, and coffee options. The coffee was very good and not too bitter. This is a perfect place to stop by for a quick breakfast in Davis Square! The prices are great here.... my friend and I got 3 bagels and 2 coffees for only $12! Decent amount of seating upstairs, and a parking lot across the street (but you have to pay). I'll definitely be back and tackling the donuts. read more

So I've been here a few times in order to be able to give a complete review. First time I went was 3 hours before close on a Sunday. They were completely out of donuts and nearly out of bagels. I got a plain bagel with bacon and cream cheese, 7/10. Wouldn't have been my first, second or third choice of bagel but it was fine. When really wanting a bagel will go somewhere else. However, Second time I went was 5 hours before close on a Sunday and they had a full bagel supply but again were nearly out of donuts but I was able to snag 2 cake donuts, chocolate and blueberry, 10/10 so good. Good donuts, good bagels. Sometimes you just need a donut for breakfast. Sometimes you need a bagel. Sometimes you need both. I have enjoyed all donuts I've tried here, with the jelly donut I had last really standing out. The proper jelly they used was greatly appreciated. Their bagels have great texture and flavor. They would be enjoyable by themselves, but a little cream cheese or a little lox or a little sausage, egg, and cheese doesn't hurt. They have a small amount of seating on the front and have more in the second floor. A few nitpicks: they sometimes run out of items quite early which is frustrating and their degree of toasting can vary, so be sure to specify if you want your bagel toasted and how toasted you want it. Located on the first floor of an apartment complex, it's a perfect place to get breakfast on the go. These donuts are HUGE. Like really really really big! You definitely need to come early, or at least order early because they definitely sell out quickly, especially on weekends. We ordered half a dozen donuts including butternut crunch, pb&j, Nutella, Somerville cream, and glazed as well as bagel sandwich with chorizo, egg, and swiss on an asiago bagel. The donuts were soft, but not as fluffy as other places. I definitely enjoyed the filled donuts. The Somerville cream donut has strawberry cream fluff inside - sweet, but not overpowering. The powdered sugar outside of the Nutella donut pairs perfectly for when the Nutella cream gets too sticky inside your mouth. The bagel sandwich is quite filling for breakfast and the bagel itself is very chewy. I'd definitely recommend trying this place out and will hopefully be back to try out more of their donut flavors! read more

I'm giving this place a five star review, because once you figure out what your regular order is, you're going to love it! I've enjoyed most breakfasts we've picked up here. I'm not much of a doughnut person, but I highly recommend their bagels. The asiago and jalapeno cheddar are my favorites! (We made the mistake of trying the garlic bagels one time...these don't get "five stars". Garlic was really dry and got everywhere. I love garlic but it was just kind of gross, to be honest.) Awesome breakfast sandwiches, and you can even get a dozen or half dozen bagels in a bag if you want. They also consistently have good, fresh coffee and great lattes. if they are open and haven't sold out, i try to always make a point to come here. literally the best, heartiest bagels i've ever had in my life- a bagel and schmear is enough to qualify itself as a full meal (and frequently does, for me!). that said, i recently branched out and got the HLT (hummus, lettuce, and tomato) with an egg, and the individual sandwich components proved to be every bit as fresh as the multigrain base i had ordered them on! davis handcrafted also offers the epitome of hospitality with their little sauce bar in the corner, providing sriracha for the customers of somerville despite the sauce's shortage. i've gotten the donuts via food for all before (which is also notable- not only is davis handcrafted a small business, but one that's making a point to reduce food waste) and they're sweet, decadent, and filling. the nutella-filled and somerville cream are both 'must-try's, and i'm sure i'd say the same about the pb&j if i could get my hands on one! the staff is always super nice, despite the place frequently being packed and, like many of the smaller eateries in davis, not quite having been built with the space intended to become a busier restaurant. that said, i think they manage a well-honed grab-and-go experience, and if you're seeking a brilliant bagel and similarly-shaped breakfast dessert, don't you dare look any further! read more

Conveniently located in Davis Square, this cute little hole in the wall always has a line out the door. I finally caved to find out if the hype was real. It most definitely is. The coffee is delicious. I just got a cold brew with almond milk and it was so yummy, I drank it all before I even got back to my apartment! Their donuts are huge!!!!! I tried the original glaze and it was good and so unbelievably soft. But I don't think it compares to Kane's original glaze or Krispy Kreme... it isn't on that level. It comes close, but I wouldn't choose the glaze here first. I think they don't use enough of the glaze or the glaze isn't sweet enough so it's not as nicely balanced as the one from Kane's or Krispy Kreme. I arrived on a Monday morning and had trouble deciding on a 1/2 dozen or a full dozen. The guy at the counter was very nice, helping me to calculate the price difference. We love doughnuts, but they have been known to go stale if I buy too many. We haven't had them during this whole pandemic, so, I was happy to splurge. However, when I saw how big they are, I knew that six doughnuts would be plenty for us. I came for plain glazed doughnuts, but sadly, they were completely out of them at 9:15AM? When I asked earlier if they had everything on the menu, a girl said, "Yes, mostly.", and so I made the assumption that they would have those since it was still early in the day. I wish they had just told me up front what they were out of or that I had been more specific and asked. I felt like they weren't completely forthcoming as I was spending a lot of time looking at their menu and trying to decide what to get. The wow factor here is the appearance of the doughnuts. They are humongous and look pretty, but that's about it. They are slightly fresher than Dunkin Donuts, but the taste is just about the same. Actually, dare I say that Dunkin Donuts chocolate glazed doughnut has a more chocolatey flavor and hits the spot better. Personally, I think they are too big. When I eat doughnuts, I like to eat one and maybe indulge in a second one of a different flavor. You can't do that with these because they are so big. I think they are okay. Okay soooooo.... I am in LOVE! It was love at first bite! Literally! We ordered through door dash. I ordered a steak, egg and cheese on an everything bagel and my friend ordered a western omlette on a plain bagel. And then a half dozen donuts. Door dash called to let us know that the restaurant was missing some of the items that we chose (like my everything bagel) but the vendor made a suggestion of a garlic bagel and OMG!!! FLAVOR BOMB! She said it was the perfect balance of onion, pepper and ham and also noted how fresh the ingredients were! I mowed my whole sandwhich but she only ate half... Then we tried the glazed donut, when I picked it up my finger like just sank through the top layer because it was soooooo FLUFFY I thought I was gonna die! (Minions reference! Lol). There's usually a long line but it's worth the wait. Ive had the whole-wheat everything bagel, plain bagel, everything bagel, and the Asiago bagel. The Asiago bagel is probably my favorite Asiago bagel I've ever had! Once I tried the Asiago bagel, I've gotten the same order every time: egg white and cheese on an Asiago bagel. 10/10. Delicious. This is really a 4.5 - I realized I need to be more discerning w. my 5 stars. Mostly the 5-star part here is of course the donut. I am no donut connoisseur but have tried a few spots around boston - Blackbird, Kanes etc. This was easily the best. I had the fruity pebbles and the flavor was tasty but really what set it apart was the actual donut - large size but also still very moist and fluffy and further it didn't immediately go stale like most donuts. They've been the same rotund grain-based breakfast item ever since the "lesser people" created them centuries ago, at least according to my grandfather Manheim. My taste buds, however, were not. The donut was magnificent -- I have to give it some more thought, but it may be the best bite of food I've ever had. And the everything bagel was cheesy yet fresh and clean. So clean that I could tell the hipster hands that crafted it play acoustic guitar in Bon Iver cover band. Service is great, and all employees are friendly. They might have been the kindest socialists I've ever witnessed. Came here on a weekday and service was friendly quick. I ordered the Steak Egg and Cheese on a sesame bagel. They put the steak and cheese inside the eggs -- almost like an omelette. The only downside was that it was really messy and I don't like sticky fingers. But otherwise, the food was really good! I also got a Bavarian Cream and Nutella stuffed Donuts. Both were good.
