Recently returned from NYC and craved for something closer to that kind of bagel! Tried bagelsaurus and it's good, but thought we'd venture out. I think the bagels here are as good as bagelsaurus and come really close to the New York City ones. The Sesame bagels are big and light and soft. The cheese bagels are flavorful! We are super impressed! Service is very nice ... even though they are busy and has a short line before 8 am on a Sunday. We made our own toasted lox sandwich at home (just because we like more lox than stores give) with their bagel and it didn't disappoint. BIGGEST DONUTS I have ever seen! Getting 4 of these delivered was definitely way too much - but also glad I did! Got 4 donuts and 2 bagels via Grubhub. The bagels were okay, I was a bit disappointed because the ones we were given were very overcooked. (If this was only a bagel review I would lean more toward 3 stars). The donuts are as big as your head! My favorite was the blueberry old fashioned - by far! There is nothing in this whole world like a New Jersey Bacon egg and cheese on a toasted everything bagel with hot sauce with a Snapple. Nothing. No one can debate me on this. I wanted to surprise a friend visiting Boston with these donuts because she had heard the hype around Boston's delicious but also very instagrammable donuts. I got her six flavors (maple bacon, strawberry sprinkles, boston crene, fruity pebbles, nutella and butternut crunch) and they sure did not disappoint. Listen up people, you know this place is good when there's a line out of the door at 9AM on a cold Saturday morning!!! This place has the TRIFECTA of breakfast foods: bagels, donuts, and coffee. I ordered an Asiago bagel with chive cream cheese and an iced latte. The Asiago was sharp and crispy and cream cheese was so soft and fluffy. Aka bagel heaven. This place has a great assortment of bagels, spreads, sandwich, and coffee options. The coffee was very good and not too bitter. This is a perfect place to stop by for a quick breakfast in Davis Square! The prices are great here.... my friend and I got 3 bagels and 2 coffees for only $12! So I've been here a few times in order to be able to give a complete review. First time I went was 3 hours before close on a Sunday. They were completely out of donuts and nearly out of bagels. I got a plain bagel with bacon and cream cheese, 7/10. Wouldn't have been my first, second or third choice of bagel but it was fine. When really wanting a bagel will go somewhere else. However, Second time I went was 5 hours before close on a Sunday and they had a full bagel supply but again were nearly out of donuts but I was able to snag 2 cake donuts, chocolate and blueberry, 10/10 so good. I have enjoyed all donuts I've tried here, with the jelly donut I had last really standing out. The proper jelly they used was greatly appreciated. Their bagels have great texture and flavor. They would be enjoyable by themselves, but a little cream cheese or a little lox or a little sausage, egg, and cheese doesn't hurt. They have a small amount of seating on the front and have more in the second floor. A few nitpicks: they sometimes run out of items quite early which is frustrating and their degree of toasting can vary, so be sure to specify if you want your bagel toasted and how toasted you want it. Located on the first floor of an apartment complex, it's a perfect place to get breakfast on the go. These donuts are HUGE. Like really really really big! You definitely need to come early, or at least order early because they definitely sell out quickly, especially on weekends. We ordered half a dozen donuts including butternut crunch, pb&j, Nutella, Somerville cream, and glazed as well as bagel sandwich with chorizo, egg, and swiss on an asiago bagel. The donuts were soft, but not as fluffy as other places. I definitely enjoyed the filled donuts. The Somerville cream donut has strawberry cream fluff inside - sweet, but not overpowering. The powdered sugar outside of the Nutella donut pairs perfectly for when the Nutella cream gets too sticky inside your mouth. The bagel sandwich is quite filling for breakfast and the bagel itself is very chewy. I'd definitely recommend trying this place out and will hopefully be back to try out more of their donut flavors! read more

I'm giving this place a five star review, because once you figure out what your regular order is, you're going to love it! I've enjoyed most breakfasts we've picked up here. I'm not much of a doughnut person, but I highly recommend their bagels. The asiago and jalapeno cheddar are my favorites! if they are open and haven't sold out, i try to always make a point to come here. literally the best, heartiest bagels i've ever had in my life- a bagel and schmear is enough to qualify itself as a full meal (and frequently does, for me!). that said, i recently branched out and got the HLT (hummus, lettuce, and tomato) with an egg, and the individual sandwich components proved to be every bit as fresh as the multigrain base i had ordered them on! davis handcrafted also offers the epitome of hospitality with their little sauce bar in the corner, providing sriracha for the customers of somerville despite the sauce's shortage. i've gotten the donuts via food for all before (which is also notable- not only is davis handcrafted a small business, but one that's making a point to reduce food waste) and they're sweet, decadent, and filling. the nutella-filled and somerville cream are both 'must-try's, and i'm sure i'd say the same about the pb&j if i could get my hands on one! the staff is always super nice, despite the place frequently being packed and, like many of the smaller eateries in davis, not quite having been built with the space intended to become a busier restaurant. that said, i think they manage a well-honed grab-and-go experience, and if you're seeking a brilliant bagel and similarly-shaped breakfast dessert, don't you dare look any further! read more

We love doughnuts, but they have been known to go stale if I buy too many. We haven't had them during this whole pandemic, so, I was happy to splurge. However, when I saw how big they are, I knew that six doughnuts would be plenty for us. I came for plain glazed doughnuts, but sadly, they were completely out of them at 9:15AM? When I asked earlier if they had everything on the menu, a girl said, "Yes, mostly.", and so I made the assumption that they would have those since it was still early in the day. I wish they had just told me up front what they were out of or that I had been more specific and asked. I felt like they weren't completely forthcoming as I was spending a lot of time looking at their menu and trying to decide what to get. The wow factor here is the appearance of the doughnuts. They are humongous and look pretty, but that's about it. They are slightly fresher than Dunkin Donuts, but the taste is just about the same. Actually, dare I say that Dunkin Donuts chocolate glazed doughnut has a more chocolatey flavor and hits the spot better. Personally, I think they are too big. When I eat doughnuts, I like to eat one and maybe indulge in a second one of a different flavor. You can't do that with these because they are so big. I think they are okay.
