VERY DOG FRIENDLY! Appreciate that. Coffee was delicious. Eggs Benedict were delicious. Service was quick and kind. Love the decoration... makes it feel like Hawaii but closer. =)

We stayed right around the corner and kept eyeballing it so when my MIL and husbands aunt wanted breakfast, we jumped at the chance to try this place. Our service was excellent and the restaurant was adorable. I got the breakfast potato dish that I cannot remember the name of. It was good but could have used more flavor. Their food was all so good!

The exterior of the restaurant doesn't look the most welcoming being kind of fenced off but don't let that deter you. Service is friendly and the food is yummy. I love that they offer stuff for dogs. The upcountry burrito was delicious. Maui wowie pancakes were yummy. The daybreak special was pretty good. We'd go back!

A group of us walked up to the host and the host immediately racially profiled us. We were all standing close together, 3 of us are black / 2 are American-Asian. The host asked us if it's going to be table for two even though we were clearly a group of 5 together. A shame in today's society really. Thankfully the food was just as mediocre so it made the experience clear cut for us. Never visit again.

Loco Moco w/ lava volcano (or something like that) addition. Not worth the extra 4 bucks

I recently visited Daybreak Island Grill for the first time and decided to try the Loco Moco, adding the "Lava Volcano" special (or something like that) for an extra $4. The special was supposed to include kalua pork, shrimp, and a hollandaise sauce. I assumed it would come with a reasonable portion of kalua pork and a few pieces of shrimp. However, when my order arrived, they had forgotten to add the Lava Volcano topping. After I pointed it out, they brought out a small plate with just a single shrimp, a mere teaspoon of kalua pork, and a tiny splash of hollandaise sauce. All of this for an extra $4? Definitely not worth it. As for the Loco Moco itself, it was decent--pretty much like any other Loco Moco I've had. But the "Lava Volcano" addition was disappointing and absolutely not worth the extra cost. Frankly, it felt like a rip-off.

What a truly special gem in Ocean Beach! They open nice and early and have chilled champagne ready to serve. The chef came and greeted us and said good morning. Such good hospitality. This place definitely makes you feel good. Our server Irene was so sweet and kind. She took time to go over the menu with us. She answered all of our questions and was attentive to our needs. The patio is dog friendly, and she was kind to our pup. Let's get into the food! The Hawaiian Breakfast was delicious. Generous servings of all proteins. The flavor profiles were so good. Perfectly pan fried spam. Yolky over easy eggs. Rice perfectly cooked. Mac salad nice and chilled not too salty, the shaved veggies in it were yummy. Perfection. The banana bread French toast was delicious. The banana bread was moist and it's made in house! I loved the loco Moco. The gravy was the perfect flavor. Meat was seared well, not over cooked. Not too salty. The whole combination of ingredients really makes the perfect bite. We enjoyed POG mimosas and loved our experience here. Thanks to chef Lawrence for the good morning hello and delicious meal. I highly suggest and will be back. Did I mention they open at 7am?

A decent no fuss- no muss brunch spot in Ocean Beach. If you're looking for a super refined experience, this probably won't be for you. The main draw for us was the extremely pet friendly patio, complete with anchors to tie your dog's leash to, water bowls, and even a special pet meal available on the menu. For the human food we had the traditional eggs Benedict and the Nutty Blues Pancakes. Both were pretty tasty. The service was also completely sufficient.

This is such a fun place to bring tour pup. Food was very delicious and service was great. So happy we came here.

Dog meals! The pups ate them right up!

Definitely recommend this place especially if you bring your dogs with you on your trip! This place is truly dog friendly! They provided us with a fresh water bowl and even had a dog menu! For the humans of course we absolutely loved the food, everything was as described and super tasteful! Definitely recommend this place if you plan on coming down to Ocean Beach

Homestyle Hawaiian has a lot of really yummy options for food. Not necessarily vegetarian friendly…read morebut as a pescatarian I find options. I really like the Garlic Ahi sandwich with a side of sweet potato fries. The other amazing thing they have is banana pudding, which runs out pretty quickly. Depending on how busy it is, food can take a while to prepare but that means it's fresh upon receiving. There is some seating available for dining in but I mostly get take out, and it seems everyone else does as well. The tables are usually clean and tidy, and the area is a bit small and cramped but still plenty of seating. The only issues I have is that the menu prices don't seem to match across their physical menu, ordering platforms, and what you actually get charged. I believe what I order is listed somewhere around $13 on the physical menu but I always am charged closer to $16. They also do run out of stuff, so have a back up order in mind just in case. Overall a pretty tasty place despite being a bit pricey and unreliable in terms of availability.

It became a spot we went to often . Over the years I had not been , realized I needed that island vibes today..... It's been a couple years since I have been here... there were two types of music playing when I arrived : today's hits and mariachi playing over eachother at the exact same time. Service : the three ladies working the front were amazing very kind and helpful. I ordered Garlic shrimp with rice and mac salad The shrimp was slightly over cooked but the sauce was pretty good and the garlic sauce was on the rice and the Mac salad was great . Shrimp Gets a 4/5 rice 4/5 and mac salad 4/5 Sausage Masubi No Masubi sauce on it ....rice was fine... sausage was so over cooked it was actually shriveled up little piece not even a big slice of sausage . Basically the texture of pepperoni. No sauce again... dry and tasteless so I tossed it 0/5 Kalbi ribs (picture ) One of my favorite dishes . The picture is how my ribs came (I had not eaten one ounce of meat off them) because there was no meat. The marinade was not what it used to be but it was sweet and savory so that's fine. They were def marinated . The one rib I could get meat off was so hard and chewy and dry... Now In Hawaii they have ribs hanging above the stove that are not always the grill type. they are almost air dried, and heat cooked but they are tender and have meat on the bones . This was not that. I usually never return food it has to be bad but I was not paying for meat that didn't exist and beef jerky . The ladies up front worked their handsets to get me a refund (they had to call their boss to try and figure it out ). I appreciate their great attitude and time . Not sure I actually got a refund In The end of all of it, but that's ok they tried. 0/5 on the ribs I don't know if anyone knows if this place is under different management or ownership since when they opened... but it has taken a huge dive. I'm sad. The average stars for everything is 2.5

Perfectly crispy and moist chicken in a sweet and tangy garlic sauce that is not overpowered by the garlic. The specials are a great deal as the portion is massive and enough to share between two people comfortably. If you dine in, most entrees also come with miso soup. The curry chicken katsu was nothing special; the curry was a little lacking in flavor, and I would've appreciated a salad of some sort to add variety and freshness. The macaroni salad is good though. The D2 special is great value and variety. It comes with miso soup, tempura, salad, macaroni salad, and teriyaki chicken on a bed of fried rice. The fried rice has a shockingly good wok flavor, and the teriyaki is quite good. Not a dish that will blow your mind, but definitely hits the spot without breaking the bank. They have some tables outside if you have a dog or prefer to sit there right by the parking lot; your food will still be brought out to you, just let them know when you order.

We came in at 7:30 pm and the person at the counter rushed us through our order like we were a nuisance for being there. When the food came out, they brought my 8-year-old son a bowl of raw salmon. We had ordered baked. When I asked them to exchange for baked salmon she refused saying "once it leaves the kitchen, no refunds". I was really startled because the tone and brashness of the refusal was something I have never experienced at any restaurant. I told them I didn't want a refund. I just wanted the baked salmon which I thought we had actually ordered. She still refused but offered to get us a baked salmon plate if we paid for it.
