I decided to try day and nights donuts for myself,because I was curious how a human being can treat a person. According to the Stateman Journal they made day and night donuts look terrible. But as I walked in I was greeted by a lovely Latina lady that had a smile on her face. I asked if she had any coconut favored donuts and she explained them all. After she got my order I aked how the coffee was here, not expecting it to be great, but I tried it and it was wonderful. As I sat down I noticed that she greeted each customer and was very nice. She even knew a few by name. Overall I was satisfied by the way the employee treated me and how she always keep a smile on her face no matter what. I never thought I would support a place that treats a person awful, but like others reviews say, " there is a side to both stories". Light, fluffy, cakey goodness. One of the best donuts I've had in Oregon (yes, including Voodoo). Had the pumpkin spice, tiger tail, cream cheese cream (which was surprisingly light), and the very good German chocolate (which was perfectly cakey). read more

This place is worth the calories. It is a true doughnut shop, not fancy but so tasty. Friendly and fast service and reasonable prices. Every time I go, the selection of donuts is vast and plentiful. The donuts are on the smaller size, but quality is consistent. As for quality, the donuts are a solid 4 out of 5. The customer service and place is a 2.5, that shouldn't matter in the equation. For those reasons they get 4 stars. The girl in the pink today (9/4/2017) stood in the kitchen and stared at me for a min or so before I had to start loudly saying "Helllllllllo". She gets to the counter, proceeds to rudely ask me what I wanted. Once the order was complete, as I think she planned this quickly in her mind, she had asked me "to not throw money at her"-- If you didn't want me to throw that at you, then you should have been more grateful I went in and actually paid cash. I even greeted her friendly (from what I thought and after her ignoring me, too) This isn't my first time going into the Portland Rd. location and had THE ABOVE happen. The products are good, however; Customer service to ALL ETHNIC types is NOT their thing. I have stopped counting how badly they've treated all my WHITE family members--Best thing yet, they don't get that I/We may not be brown, we could still have brown relatives! They have a race issue, in MY OWN OPINION. That's what I can say about their service. But those doughnuts are what kept us coming from S. i live near a krispy kreme in vancouver and i do love them. so take that into consideration, that i plan my weekend trips to salem in order to be able to get some daynight donuts. my lady can't get enough either. the difference is like 'night and day'-- get it? the iced cake donut is so much more tender than anywhere else, the lemon filled is dusted with powdered sugar, a much better combo than when they're iced. and i've never gotten a 'wet' donut where it's been out too long absorbing water from the air here. last thing-- read the owner's provided info about the place. it's essentially an old dunkin donuts, but try and tell me the guy isn't passionate about what he's doing. that's even more rare than the excellent donuts here, so go get in there. read more

I like to go here for donuts because they always seem to have a pretty good variety available no matter what time I go there and I appreciate that. I also like that the person working is always pleasant and the place has always looked clean when I've been there. I like to go here. The only problem I've encountered here is that sometimes the customer line backs up because other people like to go here too it wouldn't hurt to have two clerks working sometimes. read more

We called in advance looking for a particular doughnut for my father in law. We drove across town as the Hispanic women who answered the phone said she had what we wanted. When we arrived and looked at all the doughnuts our specific one was not on the shelf. When we asked about our doughnut she did not look us in the eye and said she just sold them 2 minutes ago. I felt she was not being truthful with us and hadn't taken the time to check her inventory. When we got home we called Roth's grocery store and they agreed to have them in the store the next day. Stopped in for donuts and coffee which was great but the cashier was extremely rude! She decided it was time to mop the floors (2:00 pm) and insisted we move so that she could finish ( no one else was using table spaces ), she then served donuts "to go" to other customers during her mopping without washing her hands( hmmm? Who knows what else she does without washing??). I think I'll pass on this restaurant next time I have a donut craving!! read more

My girlfriend and I visited for the froyo simply because we had a coupon. This place has been dirty since the days when it was dunkin donuts and that remains the norm today. The froyo was good tasting and came from a machine so I'm not sure if there is a way for someone to mess that up. These froyo places are all about the toppings in my experience and daynight had the normal spread of options with one glaring exception. Bugs! Yes that's right bugs dead and alive were gorging themselves to death it seems in all the sweet and apparently completely unattended toppings. I even trapped a couple of the dead bugs in a spoon and showed a older gentleman that seemed to have been the owner or manager. He simply rinsed off the spoon and placed it back in the container without even so much as an acknowledgement of the poor condition of his store. If there were a way to provide a half star or no star I gladly would but unfortunately I must provide a full one star rating in this case. My advice to anyone looking to uphold a minimum aesthetic level of cleanliness in their lives, avoid this place like the plague! read more

dropped in a while ago. Set up looks like the old DD that was there 40 years ago. Donuts tasted as I remembered them (I hope they don't get in trouble for that). But unlike DD whose quality is now abysmal and have given up on pastry to push overpriced yuppy coffee, the donuts were top notch. Fresh, filled generously, and great taste. I recommend them highly....Oh and they have not gentrified the basic pastry with exotic concoctions at exorbitant prices.
