This steak house has been on our list for years. Is it because we are less than 10 min from the restaurant thatwe decided I would celebrate my 61 birthday with a prime cut of meat. Service was excellent. For a tad second we did feel that our server was trying to upsell us. Who does that in a restaurant. Weird vibe. I opted for the special dry aged strip($79) and added a lobster tail for $19. I didn't realize that it was actually a half lobster tail grilled. My steak was not as expected. At no point during the ordering process did the server mention that it was served "blackened" aka burnt. It was also bone- in and once I got the meat off, it was a 4-5 bite cut of meat. I will probably stick to the other local dining establishments where I can get a cut of meat that cooked much better for a decent price. read more

We came here for our first time recently when we met friends for dinner on a Saturday evening. The venue is beautiful and like any other upscale chop house. But also a really nice assortment of salads, appetizers, and a really nice dessert menu (so, save room for dessert!)!! My steak was prepared perfectly! Sides were tasty and awesome, as well as unique! Desserts tasted great! Prices are high, so be prepared, but it was worth it. The Filet medallions were extremely small pieces and apparently taken from the tenderloin chain rather than the tenderloin itself. Our neighbors invited us for a double date to try out D.C. Prime. The building and layout is very nice. You def get vibes of an elevated and premier restaurant when you walk in. Their bar is a whiskey based bar with inspired drinks on their menu. I was impressed with the ipad for their wine list. It was very easy to navigate between and I very much enjoyed the photo's that they include of the bottles. Our table ordered the trio appetizer with shrimp, lamb pops and Rockefellers. It was an amazing presentation and def photo worthy. The shrimp was my favorite on this tower, the lamb pops were a bit raw and the charbroiled oysters we mostly just panko. They were out of the Cain 5 so we settled for a Raymond. These are brands we typically purchase from wine styles so the mark up was eye popping. My husband and I ordered the porterhouse. Presentation was great, but taste wise it was just ok. Our group really enjoyed the ambiance of the place. It's very open and designed to allow you to see inside the kitchen, or see their vertical stacked bar, they have outdoor fire pits and a lovely statue/artpiece in the main dinning hall. The dim lights and manners of the waiters, give off the class and tone you would assume from a up class steak house. We enjoyed our server, the experience with the interactive wine book via a tablet, our company and our wonderful desert! We made memories here, which are priceless. After going to some of the best steak houses in DC, we were cautiously optimistic. Went for my birthday (cinco de Mayo) and booked outside for 2. Sitting outside is nice if you smoke otherwise you hear the soothing sound of route 7 traffic. Last year we did take out from Joe's seafood prime steak and stone crab. That was phenom as I had a BONE IN FILET MIGNON. So here we were able to get a bone in rib-eye. Appetizer of potato wedges was decent as were just doing drinks. Yes I know we went 4pm on a Wednesday. But what was quite irritating in a place that charges $50++++ for a steak is maintenance people wandering about fixing stuff. Again, they don't OPEN until 4pm. Why have ANY maintenance people there when paying customers are there??? Ok deep breath. Zero bread or appetizer for us to even though it's a $100 per person place. Service is not even mediocre. It's like what ever Management issues clearly apparent I had bone in rib-eye which was ok but not amazing and quite salty. My wife had filet mignon which was moderate but not even a 4/5. I will not return. On my birthday which they knew, no song or cake. Just a bill. In Ashburn. Come on. What happend to DC Prime? I have been going here for years and every time it's a worse experience. Made reservations over the phone and asked for a spot against the wall away from walkways and kitchen. - of course we get put into the walkthru area. Waiter took 20 min to get our drinks. Refills on water ? wait another 20. white table cloth? forget about it. Bread for the table? sure, wait another 30 minutes. Spent $119 on a bone in ribeye... to only get 3/4 of it full of fat. Steak frits were so salty, it was not eatable. $15 wine was proudly listed at $95 this is how you loose loyal customers. read more

I made reservations for my parents and I via open table - if its more than 4 people, you would have to call in, but they rarely pick up their phone. I was able to put in a note while making the online reservation, so luckily they read that and adjusted the reservation. Upon arrival, the host sat us down immediately and was very welcoming. Andrei, our waiter, came by immediately and asked if we wanted any drinks. After he came back with water, we were still deciding on the drinks, so Andrei asked if we wanted extra time to decide, I said please. But after I answered Andrei, my dad decided on his drink immediately and called Andrei over to his side to show him what he wanted. Mind you, my dad's english is not the best, so he pointed to what he wanted. As Andrei was walking to my dad, he gave my dad this irritated look as if he was annoyed.. bombastic side eye much? Minutes later, he came back with the glass and we ordered our food. The food took a while - about 15-20 mins. We ordered filet mingon, lamb chops, ribeye, scallops with some sides. The lamb still had a strong odor to it and was extremely salty. The ribeye was basically burnt on the outside, even though we had asked for medium well, the charcoal was overpowering that the steak was not appetizing at all. Luckily the sides were bland, so it was easing the saltiness of the food. The scallops were fine, a nice soft texture to it, and the mushroom and pasta that came with it wasn't too bad as well. During our dinner, Andrei rarely came to us to check if we were doing fine. He came twice, the first time was when the food came out and he checked to see if the food was fine. Then the second time, he noticed that our water was low, so then he came over to refill the water. After he refilled our water, I noticed that he kept making his way back to a different couple who was Caucasian. He was attentive and all smiley with them, but with our table, he was very serious. Came here for my husbands birthday dinner and it was definitely one of the finer places we've been to for steaks. The atmosphere is dark and moody, filled with red and black seating and decor. Our service was hands down 5/5. Our waitress gave us a full rundown of the menu knowing that it was our first time there and was honest with which ways we may like our steak cooked based off of the chef's cooking techniques. We ordered the following: Point Judith Calamari: The ginger dipping sauce it came with was amazing! The perfect mix of sweet and spicy. Lump Crabmeat: Iced over lettuce with a lemon wedge. Lobster Bisque: Rich and creamy with hefty chunks of lobster. Seasonal Half Salad: We loved the artichokes and lemon champagne vinaigrette Filet Mignon: Husband added the house steak sauce and roasted mushrooms/onions on the side. Braised Boneless Short Rib: WOW, I'm not usually a big meat eater but this was beyond tender and melted in my mouth. The cheesy mashed potatoes it came with were amazing and I loved the sauce drizzled on top. Truffle Mac & Cheese: Usually I find the truffle too overpowering but this was made just right. It was such an indulgent side dish that could've been a meal on it's own! Turtle Ice Cream Cake: It was HUGE! We loved the vanilla ice cream with the caramel drizzle, along with the oreo crust but weren't big fans of the chocolate ice cream. We never knew that they sold cigars so we got a few to go for my husband to smoke with my dad afterwards. Grateful for the continued support of Veterans. Each year, DC Prime offers free steaks to Veterans on Veteran's Day. This year it was a bone in 14 ounce New York strip cooked to order. Mine was a perfect blue. Paired with the steak frites, it was a lovely dinner. Also, I tend to eat alone. I am never uncomfortable, always made to feel welcome by staff. That is unique and appreciated. The GM or assistant GM always personally greet guests which adds to the welcoming atmosphere. DC Prime is worth it. read more

DC Prime was the last stop on our two-day team building, booze filled adventure with my wonderful work team. I know how my team rolls, so my expectations were above-average for sure. Tbh it honestly doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you step through the doors, it's a beautiful steak house. We had a room in the back for our fairly large party - 20+. It's white table cloth dining with a door to their patio where things kicked off with a happy hour. I haven't drank alcohol in almost a decade, but the rest of the team enjoyed cocktails and wine and the staff was efficient in keeping up as the drinks flowed. Once we were seated for dinner, this staff really began to shine. We had a lead waiter who had great command over the room and a handful of others keeping drinks topped and getting orders in - all while coming off kind and present in a way that wasn't overwhelming. Many sides and apps were ordered (did not manage to capture pics of these), including truffle mac & cheese, Brussels sprouts, seafood towers, steak frites, scalloped and mashed potatoes... I tried at least a bite of all and was absolutely satisfied. The steak frites were massive and had such an amazing crunch to them - highly recommend. I had a personal side of the pork belly before my main course - it was glazed to perfection with a bit of sweetness and the fatty bites were a melt in your mouth situation. Loved it. Went with the rib eye filet for my main course - ordered medium rare and it definitely came out a hair over what I was expecting, but still consisted of some great bites towards the middle. Ended up finishing with a crème brûlée for desert - hard top and creamy bottom served with a side of berries and a ginger snap on top. They were all delicious but my favorite was probably BBQ w| the truffle aioli. The sauce was MAGICAL!! Our entree was the Tomahawk w| lobster Mac n cheese and crispy Brussels. The steak was AMAZINGGGGG! Perfect MR and it was so juicy and flavorful. This was truly a quality tomahawk very little fat. The Mac n cheese was so creamy and the lobster was tender. The Brussel sprouts were perfect too. This meal was honestly perfection from beginning to end. The rum punch was also FIRE!!!!! The service was slow which wasn't terrible I suppose so we could have conversation around the table but it would be nice to have a fresh drink water or whatever more often. My wife got a strip steak ordered medium and it was still moo'ing and other than throwing it back on the grill and bringing it back when closer to requested temperature they didn't do anything with the bill, or a free dessert, side dish, offer a drink, nada! Plus they took her plate which she had decent portions of sides on the plate that were not included and they didn't come back with the steak they put it back on a new plate. I gotta say for $125 for just the one steak, I'd rather go to Ozzie's or Sweetwater and order their ribeye and save $85. The sides as they were all "a la carte" we're very good but also very expensive, but did feed the table since we got 4 sides. Offer Mocktails for those that like the feel of having a drink but can't, whether they be pregnant or whatever. Singles out some people when there isn't much of an option.
