I took my Mercedes C300 to Valvoline located at 13401 Whittier Blvd on the 25th for an oil change. The wrong oil type was used, 5W30 instead of the manufacturer recommended 5W40. Since then my car has been rattling during cold starts. This issue clearly began after the service. It seems the technicians rely solely on the system's default recommendation without confirming with the customer or checking the official vehicle specifications. I was never asked to verify the oil type. This shows a serious lack of proper training and attention to detail. I returned to speak with the manager Israel Contreras and requested a correction. He refused to take responsibility and told me I would need to pay again. This is unacceptable. Other Valvoline locations have resolved similar mistakes at no extra cost to the customer. Why is this store different The customer service I experienced was poor unhelpful and dismissive. I have reported this incident to Valvoline Corporate. I will not return to this location and I strongly encourage others to double check the oil type and quantity before allowing them to service your vehicle. I'm not usually someone that leaves bad reviews but this was ridiculous. I went to get my civic's oil change and the mechanics re-installed my lower engine cover wrong and as I was driving it fell off!! All I hear is metal scraping the ground and was frantic to get off the road. Upon inspection, I found that my cover was obviously missing hardware and was placed upside down. So after paying $120 for an oil change (criminal) I was left putting my own cover back on and having to replace the hardware. What a joke. I would've rated lower but Ray (the assistant manager) was so cool that I had to go 5 stars. I went back today because I had some oil leaking but they replaced my oil plug and gasket with no fuss. They also topped off my synthetic oil as a courtesy which was awesome. I was also annoyed that they didn't reinstall my glove compartment hinge when they checked the cabin filter last time but Ray also took care of that and was very nice about it. Maybe because it was early Sunday morning but I had a lot of questions for Ray about garages he'd recommend for other work in the area and he was kind and patient with all of his answers. Took it to a mechanic turns out that the original gasket was replaced with a valvoline one without my consent and even making me aware, I have a feeling they lost they original. My drain plug was also replaced and not screwed properly. This was my third time coming to this facility and they had gotten my trust. Unfortunately I won't be returning. I was looking for an oil change location close to home and found this one with high stars and good reviews. I went on a Saturday morning there were about 3 cars in front of me. A gentleman approached my car and asked what I needed I told him I needed an oil change and he said to get behind a particular vehicle which I did and he left. Then came back and asked me if I had an IG account and I replied "yes" and he asked "what's your name so I can follow you?" I was a bit confused because I thought he was asking for reasons to follow the location on IG but then realized it was on a personal level. I was a bit disappointed because that was unprofessional on his end. Other than that incident it went great and the gentleman that assisted me at the computer was very detailed and helpful. I finally decided to come to Valvoline after going to the Hyundai dealership and Pacific auto spa yesterday and having no luck getting an oil change. I waited two hours at the dealership for them to not even touch my car and Pacific Auto Spa was the same situation. I pulled up to valvoline on a Tuesday morning at 8:30 AM and there was no line, I was taken in quickly, they assessed my car and let me know what my options were as far as oil types and prices. They always have coupons on their official website, not only that but their price was about half off of what the dealership and Pacific auto spa quoted me which was 85 and 95 respectively. I ended up paying $55 at Valvoline with the coupon that they had on their website. These people work quickly, efficiently and as a team! Customer service is unmatched! I have 3 cars and usually visit the one by my job since it's fast and convenient. But this location is something else though. It took over an hour for my oil change, I didn't get anything extra. Especially since the other person couldn't figure out how to check my cabin filter all I got was an oil change. It seemed liked the person doing my change was new.
