DDs is a must try. I've never had to wait more than five minutes for a seat and the staff is super helpful. Once you sit you get an iPad to order from and a waiter confirms your order in person to make sure everything's correct. The ambiance is nice, nothing too special but always clean and bright. The soup dumplings are delicious - I can't say enough about them. And their food is absolutely perfect. I've had a few chicken dishes and the chicken is always crispy, clean, well cooked, and never questionable. I love this place and will continue to go as often as possible!! read more

I really wanted to love this place but it just wasn't happening. My review is a little delayed, we came a few weeks ago shortly after their grand opening and on Mother's day. Was hoping to finally have another go-to asian restaurant to get my fix without having go into Queens but nope. The service was beyond slow. Especially since you were ordering on an ipad, you never once had to talk to anyone. The order went direct to the kitchen but still, took extremely long. I'm sure they were working out the kinks and the restaurant was packed, but still. We were starving. They did realize and offered our kids a soda to help wtih the wait, but we just wanted to eat! We ordered a wide variety of items and everything was just mediocre. The soup dumplings, beef pancakes, chicken and broccoli, everything was basic. Nothing stood out, no bold flavors. Super disappointed as it was on the more expensive side and this really meant that there was one less asian restaurant option. Very nice staff, pretty slow to get anything, and all that for food that wasn't that great. The hibachi might be better, but we only got a table so can't speak to that. Dropped by DD Soup Dumpling house & Hibachi in Jericho Long Island for quick bite, the reception booth person was very friendly and attentive to what type of seating we requested. Since we did not have a reservation due to being a Saturday usually busy, all guests were seated immediately. The waitstaff was very attentive for what refreshments were needed and were brought out very quickly after we put in the request. The ordering of dishes was very easy using a table screen with pictures and icons. The waitstaff can be requested to order food without using the tablet. The food was brought out in the proper order as requested and the food was piping hot and very fresh. We spent about 30 minutes finishing the dishes and paying the bill electronically on the tablet was quick and very easy to close out the bill. We were very satisfied with the meal and would definitely come back soon. Very highly recommended for the fresh soup buns and Asian fusion dishes. 5 stars for service and food. read more

We came in at 2:30 pm for my nephew's 21st birthday. Service was timely and the chef was fun and engaging. Everyone in our group was happy with both their food selections and the service. The only thing I would ask is to have a choice of soup for the hibachi appetizer. A clear mushroom soup might be more favorable. Had a lovely early lunch here today. Owner was friendly and greeting customers. Staff was helpful and friendly. The food was delicious! You order using a tablet at your table so you can see a picture of each dish if you like to order after seeing the dish. We did dim sum for our meal. We had soup dumplings (well made and so tasty!), pan fried pork buns (my favorite), egg rolls, beef in scallion pancake, and seafood dumplings. All were well made and at reasonable price. I took my wife here for her birthday. The tables were close together, all were full, and it was loud. Oh, but the food! We ordered 6 different dishes and shared, and every one deserved 5 stars. Everything was cooked perfectly, with fascinating textures and flavors. I've been eating Chinese food for decades, and a couple of the dishes tasted completely new. Moreover, the prices were very reasonable, and the service was fine, especially considering that the place was packed (we did go on a Friday night). Don't know how to feel about my garlic chicken wings that did not taste like garlic chicken wings -plus there was rice inside the container with the wings. Nice atmosphere. You order and look at the menu on a I-pad. They do have a paper menu though and a waitress does come and confirm your order. The pork soup dumplings and the pork and shrimp shumai were very good. The beef and broccoli was plain and nothing different than other places. I was in the mood for soup dumplings and this place did not disappoint. It was juicy and flavorful. I also had the beef with noodles with chili sauce. That hit the spot. They are generous with the beef and the beef stock was delicious, just the right amount of chili sauce so you can taste it but not overbearing. First time eating at this restaurant. The food was great and pricing was competitive. Service was the issue as they were very disorganized and hectic. It was difficult to get anyone's attention to ask questions about the menu. They just sit you down at a table, put a table tablet in front of you and walk away. Nobody explains that you have to order through the tablet, the information on the tablet doesn't tell you what else you get with a meal. Additionally, we never got two of the appetizers that we had ordered so we had to make sure that they took those off of the bill. I understand that it was a Friday night, but they've been open long enough to be able to staff properly. I would go back but certainly not on a Friday night. read more

Went here with some friends and was able to try a bunch of different dishes. We started with the pork dumplings, spicy pork dumplings, and chicken soup dumplings. They were all great, but the spicy pork was my favorite. Next we had the orange chicken, shredded beef, and garlic pork. I wasn't a huge fan of the pork, but the chicken and steak were delicious. The fried rice and lo mein were nothing special. We finished the meal with a variety of desserts... none of which stood out to me, but they weren't bad. Overall the dumplings and entrees were delicious. The restaurant was super crowded so they're definitely doing something right. I would go back to DD again. It honestly deserves more of a 3.5, but since the main dishes were good and the service was good, I'll round up to 4 instead of down to 3. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for months now but was highly disappointed. Right off the bat, I noticed that they have a promotion where they give a dish of free soup dumplings in exchange for a five star review on Google. Sorry, but my reviews can't be bribed. We ordered the chili wontons, pork soup dumplings, sesame chicken, and rice cakes with brown sugar. The food came fast except the rice cakes which took forever. The chili wontons tasted like I could make them from a frozen bag. The skin was too hard, the filling didn't taste freshly made, and the sauce was too salty, like they mixed soy sauce with the tiniest pinch of chili to be able to call them "chili wontons." The soup dumplings were bland and the filling was weirdly loose. I think it's because they were just way too skimpy on filling. The soup was bland. What sealed the deal for me was the sesame chicken. The portion was small, they were skimpy on the sauce, and the chicken itself was as dry as it looks in the picture. The rice cakes were the only semi-good thing. They had a good texture and were crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside, but there was just not enough filling once again. AND I felt very rushed. The waitress literally hovered by us and asked if she could bring the check while we were still eating. At that point, I think we had been there for half an hour tops and they weren't full or super busy either. That was unnecessary and left a bad taste in my mouth. I think they sacrificed quality to keep the cost of food low, and it shows. I came in thinking the prices were cheap and/or reasonable, and left feeling like I wasted my money. We stopped in today for lunch and there was a decent crowd but no wait. We ended up ordering steamed pork soup dumplings, seafood pork dumplings, dan dan noodles (little spicy), general tso chicken (lunch) which came with rice and chicken corn soup and a Thai iced tea. It's all ordered on a tablet, which is good because you can order your apps and then when you're done you can order your main dish this way, it all doesn't come out at once, but for some reason you can't pay on the tablet and have to request the server over. The dumplings were both good and had a good flavor. The dan dan noodles were very spicy instead of a little but tasted good. The general tso chicken was eh because it needed more sauce and the chicken seemed thin and dry. The Thai iced tea was great because it was very sweet. It's 50/50 if we will go back. read more
