Honestly no one does it better than Merry I went in today, and thank god she happened to be free -- I know she usually doesn't have time since she is so booked with appointments. I had broken some of my acrylics the past week bowling and I needed to get them fixed. She started working on my nails at 5 45 and didn't leave until around 8 pm, an hour after the store closed and everyone else had gone home (the store closes at 7). At 7 15, she started drawing the hearts on my nails, and I thought that she would be sloppy with it because she wanted to get home. However, she literally spent 20 minutes getting the heart to be perfect. She was very delicate and attentive to every little detail, including the inside and outside of the heart, something I definitely have never seen at another salon. Also, she gave me a lesson on the types of powder used at other salons for the acrylic nail tips. The ones I had before had started yellowing due to the bad quality of the powder, and Merry informed me to my relief that they did not use the same powder. Yay, my nails won't start yellowing in a few weeks! I ended up getting the solar pink and white nails with a sparkly black tip instead of the traditional white french tips. It is beautiful and I am positive I will be back again! And on a side note her daughter, Lily, is also an AMAZING manicurist -- if in doubt, come to Merry Nails and request either Lily or Merry! (I don't know about the rest of the employees since I've never had my nails done by them but I'm sure they're great too). I came to town for a wedding and noticed Merry Nails across the street from my hotel. I called the shop and was able to easily make an appt for an hour later. When I arrived the staff was very friendly and they were on-time for my appt. My mani/pedi turned out beautiful and I was so happy and relaxed! My whole family comes to Merry Nails. My grandmother and mother have been customers since 2001, and with good reason. This place is (in my opinion) the best place to get your nails done. Not only are they gentle, but they are friendly and kind. Mary has been my go-to ever since I was little (like, 5 years old) and she's even guided me through my first set of acrylic nails. She's an artist too; I have always been ecstatic walking out with a brand new look for my hands! I highly recommend this establishment for all of your pedicure and manicure needs, especially if you're new to getting Mani/Pedis. In desperate need of a quick pedi, I headed over here with OPI Lincoln Park after Dark and a fat wallet in hand. 45 minutes later, $25 lighter and with beautifully polished dark purple nails...I headed back into work (with a froyo from ILuvYogurt). They were fabulous, prompt & friendly, accurate with the dark polish. They take credit cards. The one thing they couldn't provide for me was a 2 hour long nap after the lovely foot and calf massage. That'll have to come on my own later! I am a nut about trying new nail places...seriously lovin' La Monique for my mani and pedis, but it's good to know in a 45 minute workday pinch I've got an uber-close backup! read more

I read an earlier post by a reviewer saying that her manicure lasted a week. I was kind of skeptical. But after having two manicures that indeed lasted a week I'm joining the fan club. Also, I usually ask for two coats of color. I think one coat is standard there. Another bonus is the massage chairs. They're new and once you figure out how to work them they totally hit the right spot. And, unfortunately I don't remember the lady's name who did my pedicure, but talk about an artist! She created one of the prettiest flowers ever. The best part? They are open til 7pm. I'm one of those get in and get out types when it comes to my nails. It was alright. Mani/pedi for $35, manicure started chipping the next day but damn if the pedicure hasn't stayed on for 3+ weeks. The lady who did my pedi was very sweet and super thorough, I wish she had done both. They were doing a very thorough job cleaning out the pedicure baths so I feel safe going there. If you want to go in around lunchtime then try to time it a little early or a little late - gets really busy around 12:15. They definitely prefer cash. I came in because my lovely friend pretty much told me... "Dood. You need to take care of your feet. Can't believe you're walking around in open-toed heels with them." Ouch. Harsh. They need to get that airwick spray thingy or eat their food outside so it doesn't smell. 2. The boss/lady working next to Dung seemed super impatient. I wasn't deciding on my color and I tried 4 colors and then got fed up with the lady's attitude and just stuck with pink (I'm not a pink kinda gal!) but it's ok cuz Dung was really nice! Watch out for the other women tho they be cray cray and talk really loud in Vietnamese (I've been dying to use that lingo it's so silly!) ok THE END! People are nice shop is blan and quiet. So basically I got my nails done over the weekend at color nails soo I banged my hand really hard and the rhinestones came off so I put the closest nail shop in google and this is where is led me. The shellac nail polish came out nice, my only complaint which is huge for me is the lady put glue on top of the rhinestone and it really ruined the shine..this sucks so beware if u get rhinestones to let the nose to put glue under!! They did a pretty nice job for Mani/Pedi compared to other Nail salons I had been to, certainly not the best and the price is alright, but they did a good job, above average. What I like: - the salon looks ok, nice atmosphere - good job cutting the cuticles around the nails, clean & neat - polishing job was done quite nice too. Didn't like: - a bit pushy over all... especially they seemed to highly prefer CASH (I handed them my Credit card first). Luckily I carried enough cash that day. It was a treat for my friend's bday and there were 3 of us. If I had less than "that amount" in my purse, it would have been UHHH... a bit embarrassing. - the shaping wasn't so great, my 2 big toe nails were trim down too short, but I'm fine w/ that. - Vietnamese conversations... I don't mind cuz I can understand... but I didn't want my 2 friends to feel awkward or ... left out. Anyway, all of us left with good looking hands & feets. Two words: Never again. Pros: Open on Sunday, cheap. I arrived here and immediately was hit with the smell of nail polish remover. Why is it that some places manage to not smell like that and others do? We had appointments but weren't really acknowledged till they were free to see us. Not a big deal. The place seemed reasonably clean but I'm not sure as I didn't see them opening the tools in front of me. The water she soaked my feet in was cold. She put me in pain cutting nails on both hands and feet and the nail polish doesn't look even on even one of my nails. My hand nails are so short that I'm uncomfortable as I type this. To top off the experience, the top coat they use created some sorta bubbles on the already not even polish. I left feeling like I could've done a better job myself. read more

I have been coming here for the longest time ever! It's so close to my home that I don't need to go anywhere else. The owner of the salon is really nice and always helps me out picking colors. The ladies always make good conversation which is important or else it's just awkward silence. I really like how put hot towels on your legs and massage them when you are getting a pedicure. What I don't like: they are heavy on cash and seem to get annoyed when you pay by card. They can also be a bit pushy about adding in on things like fruity flowery designs or something for my cuticles. I'll get it if I want to, so when they get pushy it just gets annoying. Also, one of the ladies accidently picked at my cuticle too deep that I started bleeding. She put on something, I'm assuming rubbing alcohol which burned like a mother, to stop the bleeding and then 10 seconds later it happens on my other finger! All the shit talking they do in Vietnamese got her distracted and my fingers had to suffer :( What I like: The prices are good. For 35 bucks you get a pretty nice mani/pedi. The ladies who work there are nice, especially the owner and they are quick and give good hand massages! read more

I have been going to this place since I was in high school and I USED to love this salon but the experience I had this weekend would make me NEVER go here again. I came in early on a Saturday morning and they said they were busy and asked if I can come back in an hour. I did come back in an hour like they asked me to. Once I came in they did the generic "Pick yo color" not any welcome back or thanks for being patient. Since I bring my own polish I sat right down and waited for 10 minutes. I asked how much longer it will be and they said she is finished and can help me right now. They had me sit down and I waited without service for another 5 minutes. This doesn't seem bad but when you keep in mind that I have waited for an hour before this, I was mad. I have things to do, so I started to get up and leave. THIS IS WHAT IS MAKING ME NEVER COME BACK EVER AGAIN.... As I got up leave they pushed me to stay and I told them I waited over an hour and 15 minutes with no service and then this women yelled "OH MY GOD!" and then something in Vietnamese. Way to treat your customers with some respect. I have been coming here for 20 years and EVER felt so horrible about the service or lack of respect. I wish I knew how to speak Vietnamese so I could hear what horrible things she was saying about me, but atlas, I will never know since I will NEVER step foot into this establishment again. Still the best! My nails always come out consistently perfect here. All the staff has been there for a while and trained by Merry herself. You cannot go wrong with whomever does your nails. Love my mani's by Yeun (spelling) as she pays particular attention to my likes and is always meticulous. I've also seen people very happy with her gel nails. I'm a solar pink fan as they look the most natural on my fair skin and prefer the low maintenance. I am tempted to get the gel which is one color, as a lot of women are getting done there and it looks so pretty and not chipping! Really bad and unprofessional service - I got a regular manicure and my nails look worse than when I do them at home! The layers are uneven and they missed the edges. I feel like they're not very attentive and just try to get you in and out the door. The choices of nail polish are scant and they all look very old. The worst part is that my manicurist was so rushed and rough with my cuticles that she caused me to bleed in multiple places. The day after my manicure a couple of my fingers were red, swollen, and very sore from the bleeding. I couldn't even type. I would avoid this place at all costs; I will probably remove the uneven nail polish soon. Total waste of money. read more

This place is a hit or miss. The staff is sometimes nice and sometimes not so nice. Mary the manager has gotten into a few verbal issues with customers twice of the handful of times I have been there. The location is convenient so I always have to default back but I'm trying to find a better place. I asked for designs on my nails and they tell me they can't do it and to just do plain color (when they are always trying to get me to do those out dated flowers). I would say they are not up nail trends. I also stopped getting shellac there when they wanted to charge me an additional 5 to take off when it should be included in the price if you continue shellac,no?
