This place does quality tailoring work. In fact, I recently came in to complain that my pants had not been hemmed and someone must have forgotten to do the job, but the work was so subtle and perfect that I did not realize it had been completed to perfection! OOPS! I profusely apologized and hence a 5 star review. Have gotten multiple other items tailored there with great results. I'm not sure what the situation is now that the location has moved, but I've been using De Leon as my main tailor and dry cleaning service for almost three years now and I've spent a decent amount of money here. I went to the new location today and did not recognize anyone. While I know it's impossible for Erwin to always be there, I didn't recognize any of the other tailors either. I asked how much it would be to sew a 12"x18" back patch onto a denim vest. The young employee then asked a lady and returned with the quote of $40.... For a machine sew!!! I've gotten pants hemmed and taken in here for $45 total. I mentioned the high price to the employee comparing it to the price of my tailored pants but he stuck to his initial price. Felt like I was being taken advantage of. I overheard the customers ahead of me speaking Spanish (which i can understand and speak) being priced for patching two pant legs with tears, that came to total of $5. Don't see how my back patch can cost $35 more than two leg patches... Its unfortunate that nothing seems the same and I will have to find a new tailor. This would be a one star if I hadn't had good experiences at the last location on Overland. read more

I come here all the time and never thought to write a review until I saw their business card with the YELP logo on it. So today when I was out, the strap on my favorite purse caught on a door handle and broke! I went to De Leon cleaners asking if they could fix it TODAY. I spoke with HUGO. He said "sure! Give me 10minutes and $20" lol. It was his lunchtime and he fixed the strap to my purse before leaving for lunch. He also fixed the zipper and i didnt even realize it was broke! Sooo... I left the cleaners today with a new purse for only 20 bucks! If you need anything cleaned, hemmed, fixed, etc, come here. By the way, all the tailors are handsome latin men! From the best to the worst dry cleaning service. Pros: they're cost effective, ok quality, decent alterations. Cons: they're unorganized. These ppl lost two of my clothing items. Reimbursed for one but not the other. Also gave me someone else's shirt, which I returned. They do a decent job with alterations but ladies if you go super early or on off hours watch out. One of the guys is a real perv. After I changed in the dressing room, he grabbed my hand and thanked me for the view of my body in the dressing room. Bottom line: If you have no where else to go and can't afford more than $3 or $4 per item for dry cleaning, then roll the dice and see if you get all of your clothing items back. Otherwise, go somewhere else & save the headache. read more

First time coming here. Unfortunately, when I tried to pick up my jacket, they were not ready with it. I had to come back the next day with a job interview the following day. I really like this place and want to give it more stars, but a couple things prevent me from doing so. Alterations: I'm pleased with the alterations overall. I've taken many items here and have been pleased with all but one pant which had one leg tapered in more than the other. I'm sure they would've fixed it if I had made a fuss, but it isn't super noticeable so I live with it. Dry cleaning: Awful! This place doesn't actually dry clean. I had a blouse in need dry cleaning after dancing and sweating in it all night. When I received it deodorant stains were visible and the blouse still smelled of a night of dancing. I took the blouse back in, informed them it was never dry cleaned, and was told they would take care of it. When I went back to pick it up the blouse looked better with the spots removed, but still smells. I believe they spot cleaned it and gave it back without actually cleaning it in its entirety. I had my USAF dress uniforms tailored here. Military clothing often comes quite baggy to accommodate a variety of body types, and De Leon did an excellent job making everything look sharp. I needed a significant amount of work done (jacket take-in, sleeve tapers, and hemming) and it all came out perfect. Came to this tailor after i inquires for a quote before going. I got a response within 10 minutes and was quoted a decent price so we decided to go with them. In dripping off the items it was busy which was a good sign and they had my husband try on the shirt and jeans he wanted tailored. After he had them on they pinned what was needed and then gave them the clothes back. We were in no rush to get them back and it was great just dropping off the clothes and leaving. When we picked them up we forgot our receipt/tag and it was no problem. He tried the now tailored clothes back on and it was perfect! They kept the shape of the shirt and the hem of the pants where great as well. We paid and we were out. I would highly recommend this place and they do dry cleaning! The store is clean and the workers are very friendly. The price was a bit expensive but the quality was good. There was mild bunching in the back of my dress, not too noticeable. De Leon has been there for me twice in what I consider very unusual and unpleasant tailoring jobs. Both times, they've been happy to help, laugh about the absurdity of the situations, and gave me a fair price for their service. As the owner of two dogs, sometimes some gross things happen. One week while we were dogsitting another dog, the guest dog peed HUGE all over our bedroom curtains. It smelled worse than if your drunk friend maliciously peed in your closet and didn't tell you for a week. I took the curtains into De Leon, explained what happened, and the team laughed while taking my pee stained curtains to the back. It didn't phase them for a second and they did a great job adjusting the curtains so that they'd be out of reach of any small dog's weiner and even pressed them for good measure. The curtains were done on time, looked great, and I was a very happy customer. Then, it happened again. I came in again. The guys at De Leon laughed again and gave me the same price ($30 for a set of curtains) for the second set. I felt the price was really fair considering that they were inevitably going to have to touch dog pee with their hands while cutting the curtains initially. I think they went above and beyond. Of course, the job was done on time and really well. I really trust the guys at De Leon and look forward to when I bring them some business that doesn't have to do with dog pee! read more

My experience with this place in the past has been awesome. The work was great and the prices were fair. But this time I dropped off my suit to get the sleeves shortened, I picked up the jacket with one sleeve significant longer than the other (as in it's noticeable when I'm wearing it.) I understand that sometimes the length can be a little too long or too short on the first alternation. But both sleeves should come back in the same length! Unless noted otherwise. Now I have to go back and get it re-altered. On top of this, I got the suit dry cleaned. I know that usually, dry cleaned clothes will come back with a slight chemical smell, but my suit didn't have that smell. So....I don't even know if they dry cleaned my suit after paying for it. Overall, the tailoring part is still decent, but with major mistakes, and double check if your clothes actually got dry cleaned when u pick it up... read more

I took in my backpack to get a broken zipper replaced. Edwin quoted me 35$ which I immediately thought was expensive (zippers are cheap, most of that was labor in my mind). He said he'd negotiate it down when I picked it up. I gave in figuring he'd do a great job... We agreed on me picking it up on Friday. I arrived Friday and it wasn't ready, and Edwin plays it like I'm the weird one for thinking he'd have it ready then, when he "meant" after 4pm. He obviously didn't work on it and forgot. I played it cool and picked it up the next day. The zipper broke after the second time using it, and upon closer inspection I realized it was still the same zipper I brought it. He didn't replace it, just re-worked the same hardware into place like a quick patch and tried to pass it off like he fixed it- for 30$! He wasted my time, and money sub-par work. Great Same Day Service on a Sunday. Gracias De Leon Express Tailoring. I paid about $100 for same day tailoring on a brand new suit I had to get ready for the next day. That included letting out the inseam of the jacket a bit and cuffs on the pants and jackets. That would normally cost at least $75 at a Beverly Hills Tailor so I was very happy to drop a C Note and to not stress out about the next day when I had my big meeting planned. I love coming to De Leon! It is only a few blocks from my house and I love how easy it is to pick up my items and or get any work clothes tailored. I started coming here a few months ago when my old dry cleaner destroyed my silk romper and refused to pay for damages or admit fault. So after a lot of Yelp research, I thought I would give De Leon's a try. I have not been disappointed. I have dry cleaned a lot of clothes and I have had a lot of work clothes tailored and have not had one single complaint. Many times I am too lazy to try on the newly tailored items in the shop, and every staff member always tells me that if anything is wrong, to come back and they will fix it. So far, nothing has gone wrong and everything is always tailored perfectly! The quality of tailoring is very impressive and it isn't that expensive. It's 15$ to hem, take in, or alter work pants. (15$ for each item done) and many of the times, I just needed the waist to be brought in. They never try to alter my clothes too much and never over sell me on anything, if I don't like the length or I want it a tad looser, they listen to my concerns and help find a good balance. They are experts after all! :) I get so many complements on the way my clothes fit me. Everyone is always friendly and funny, and everyone goes out of their way to help, even if that means someone has to stop working on a project they are in the middle of. I just moved to Culver City from weho, and was so worried about not being able to find a good tailor. Boy was I wrong. This one blows all the fancy tailors out the water with service, quality and price. I brought in a pair of pants and a simple dress to hem. The quality was great and the turnover was fast so I brought in a very complicated bridesmaids dress that I haven't dared to put in. It looks like a literal potato sack and I'm not entirely sure what it was meant to look like, and three of the tailors had to stop what they were doing to inspect me. They shook their heads and discussed in Spanish and I thought that I was screwed. Then they started pinning and before I knew it I had a dress! And a decent looking one too! I left it there for a few days and when I collected it they asked me to try it on in case I needed further (free) alterations to it. I broke the button while trying it on but realized that I wanted the buttons closer together anyway, so no problem, they fixed it by the next day. I am so thrilled with this place I have referred them to two friends. They take their work seriously. Don't go to a random dry cleaners because the person who is measuring and pinning is way more important than the person who is just sewing. They know what they're doing here! read more

The tailors here did an amazing job for me! I gave them a challenging assignment, to shorten a quilted down puffer jacket, which required removing the zipper and reinstalling it four inches higher. It turned out great, and you'd never guess the jacket was not made that way in the first place. I have a sewing machine, but could not do what these magicians did in a million years!
