I came to pick up my white, button-up shirt today. As I was getting ready to pay, I took a look at my shirt and noticed several large stains and colored marks. The staff member didn't notice it until I pointed it out to him. I am upset because if I did not check, I would have brought home a dirty shirt. Did it even get cleaned? What's worse is that there was no apology or acknowledgement of the dry cleaner's mistake. All he said was that he will clean it again and I should come back later to pick it up. I'm not sure I'll be back here as the quality control seems very low. read more

I brought a blanket in to get dry cleaned a a couple years ago and it was $30. I picked a throw blanket up today after not hearing back from them in over 2 weeks and it was $49. (They hadn't called, I dropped in to see what was going on). That's half the cost of the blanket. Outrageous! It's on me for not asking the price prior to leaving it with them but I will not return here for anything because of the absurd price. I also have a pair of pants that needed patching and they're still not done. He said they were behind but I didn't know it would take 3 weeks to patch a rip. However, if I ever need a jolt of amazing customer service, I just come to my dry cleaner, Ritz Cleaners on National & Motor. Besides remembering my name, and even my phone number, Marcelo just steamed my jacket for me to take and wear . He steamed it so I could have it instead of him just turning me away when my schedule didn't mesh with the store hours. He actually cared. It took me a while to step away from my last dry cleaner of almost 20 years but driving the 5 miles across town became just, too difficult. Finally finding a fantastic dry cleaner in my neighborhood, I could not be more thrilled. I brought in a peacoat and dress pants and the cost was ~$26. Pants were $7 and coat was the rest. I was surprised if the price for the coat but it's not something I get cleaned very often so didn't complain. Clothes were ready in a few days and came back clean so no complaints here. For certain types of businesses, Yelp does not lie. One of them is brazilian wax-ists. Another is dry cleaners. Ritz Cleaners currently has about ten solid 5-star reviews on Yelp, and for good reason. I once brought in a blouse with a cotton trim around the collar that had warped in shape over time. Turned out they weren't able to fix it 100% with their equipment, which the guy explained to me when I came to pick up my stuff. However, the blouse did come back looking slightly better than when I gave it to them, and at no extra cost, that was enough for me. For these items, they charge as follows: * Blouses, sweaters, jackets: $5.70 each * Dresses: $9.90 each With the discount, it's totally worth it. Almost everybody gave a 5-star, guess I'd be an outlier. That's also why I feel the urge to write this review, early in the morning. Took the red dress that I've wore twice to Ritz Cleaners. Got it back, found that there's an obvious blue mark on the right-hand side, above the waist. Took it back to Ritz. The customer service was actually really good. The guy took it back, marked the area with the blue mark and cleaned again it for me for free. I went to pick up the dress for the second time, and found there's a different mark in the middle on the chest. It's a lighter mark. I hesitated for a bit, and thought it might've been my imagination -- how could a cleaner return your pretty clean dress with two different marks on it, twice?? This morning, I took the dress out to wear, and guess what? I saw the mark in the mirror -- it's not too obvious, but it's there, not my imagination. I will take my dress to another dry cleaner and hopefully they will get rid of the mark. It'd sound ridiculous if I take it back to Ritz again and say, you guys left another mark on my dress. They'd think I was kidding. Except that I'm not. 2 stars for the service only, minus 3 starts for the cleaning job. read more

It pains to write this review as I have been a customer at Ritz for over 20 years. The owners are a lovely, hard-working family and they do excellent work, BUT the prices, which have always been on the high side, have crossed a line. Today I was charged $86 dollars to dry clean a lightweight, cotton Burberry raincoat. $85 dollars for the coat and an extra dollar for the belt. I know the owners and expressed my shock and was given some excuse about 1/4 of an inch piece of leather trim on the small belt attached to the cuff. Not satisfied with that answer, I was then told that the item was mischaracterized an overcoat and I would be given an "future credit". I am done. I have spent THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of dollars at this establishment, but I no more. This is extortionate and feels like abuse of a loyal customer base. Unless your hard-earned money means absolutely nothing to you, I would recommend you find another dry cleaner. read more

In the past 2 years, they have only closed once that I know of so that they could take a vacation. Their service is the best; top notch service, great prices, and extremely fast. They do dry cleaning, laundering, and alterations. The major bonus is that they learn all the regulars and we're on a first name basis now. I brought a dress and a lab coat here after having a bad experience at palms cleaners down the street. The staff was friendly but I would not recommend bringing your clothes here. The dry clean on the dress was fine but the white coat looked almost the same as when I brought it in with pen marks and stains from wear. It looked the same as when I throw it in the washing machine at home. Don't waste your money, there are a lot of dry cleaners in the area. read more

I am extremely picky about my services with regard to competence, attitude, and communication. These guys just nail it. I've come to them with all sorts of weird questions and requests about fabrics, dyes, etc. and they've never failed to provide honest, clear answers. When they thought that one of my dresses would bleed if dry cleaned, they took the time to teach me how to properly hand wash it step by step. Their work has been consistent and timely, and they were totally cool about waiting a few extra minutes for me after closing when I called while stuck in traffic. My clothes also never come out chemically smelling - they use environmentally safe cleaning (although not necessarily considered "green" - which I'm told may cause shrinking in some cases). But they don't use perc, so that's good. I've been to many dry cleaners and there are just so many things that can go wrong. So even though traffic into the freeway area is not the best (well, is it good anywhere in West LA?), Ritz is the place I come to when I NEED to have it done right. You can tell that these guys know their stuff and take pride in what they do. read more

I waited until moving out of the area to write a review of this place. Sorry Yelp, I like to be selfish about some places. I went to them mostly for tailoring, and I was mostly happy with what I got with the dozen-ish garments I brought in. For one pair of jeans I brought in, they didn't keep the old hem, that's the one thing I remember. For everything else, I was happy with my tailoring and thought the prices and time estimates were reasonable. Parking in the lot can be annoying, but they have a 15 minute spot right in front of the store. read more

So I have used their services twice. The first time I had to return 3 times for them to get it right. 1st time they didn't iron the cuffs and I found stains on my shirts and the second time there were other stains on the shirts. This second visit didn't fair much better. I was told my shirts would be ready by 4:30pm, it's now 7:15pm and they still aren't here. I didn't even get a chance to use this place because I couldn't even get past the first phone call. I called Ritz about a month and a half before my wedding to ask how much it would be to clean my wedding dress since I had purchased it as a sample last July. I knew it needed a clean since the bottom was quite dirty, but when I called up Ritz to explain the situation, they dismissed me. The man on the phone said that I didn't need to have my wedding dress cleaned and that I should wait until after the wedding. Considering he hadn't seen the dress and I was just asking for a price range for my budget, I don't think he should've been telling me what I need to do. He continued to explain to me how irrelevant it was for me to come have it cleaned before the wedding since I would then have to have it cleaned after the wedding. Which, in the end, is his loss because I went somewhere more accommodating who didn't feel the need to tell me what I should and shouldn't do. read more

I am really quite upset with this place. I have come here many times (two stars for all the other times they didn't screw up), and yes, they are very friendly. That is great. But I care more about the quality of the dry cleaning, since that's what I'm paying for. Not only did they lose a pair of my husband's pants and give us someone else's pants instead (they don't fit my husband at all and are definitely not his pants), but I just looked at my favorite dress, which I gave them to get a pen stain out, and the stain is now white. The dress is a solid coral color. So now, I not only still have a faint pen mark (it didn't really come out), I have what appears to be a bleach mark on the dress. I think they just took a Tide bleach pen to my dress. Unbelievable. That was my absolute favorite dress, and now I can't wear it anymore. When I told them earlier about the pants, they said they would look into it and call me back. They never did. I dry clean things so rarely, so it takes awhile before I even use the clothes, so in these two cases, I didn't see it until long after I paid for the service. If you're going to go here, check each item immediately afterward. Buyer beware. read more

I came here to get a bridesmaids dress altered because of the good reviews. He said that his alterations staff is out for the week otherwise he would have happily done it for me. He let me know about a place down the street, said to ask for a specific person because he will take care of me and do it within a reasonable time. He walked me outside to show me the store himself. I was in search for a good cleaners for my wedding gown and veil. I found Ritz on yelp and it had great reviews so I decided to give it a shot...not the best decision I made. I went in person and they gladly took my gown/veil and mentioned it would be ready in about 2 weeks. I wasn't in a hurry to get it as long as they did a good job. I called 2 weeks later and the man told me the person that cleans gowns was out of town so he told me to give them another week. I called a week later and they told me that my dress had a tear in the back...i went in and saw the tear and i told them I was ok with them proceeding with the cleaning. I cal them a week later to check on the status and still not ready. Finally it was ready and was ready for me to pickup after over a month and a half even when they said 2 weeks. I see it displayed in a very neat box and it looked beautiful. I asked if I could open to see if and they mentioned it was a better idea not to. I didnt end up opening it at the store. I asked if my veil was inside and they said it was..it is in there with the dress. When I got home I got curious to see if the veil really was inside and behold...IT WASNT. I was furious..so much back and forth, them telling me that it was prob best to not open the box and how the veil was in the same box as the dress..when it wasnt. I called them and told them the veil wasnt in the gown box. I could hear them in the back rambling around to find my veil. They finally found it and they apologized. I told them I was going to go pick it up and they said they woudl deliver it...Of course they didnt...I called them a week later and they said they had been busy. I finally told my husband to pick it up since they weren't going to deliver it, like they ORIGINALLY SAID THEY WOULD FOR ALL THE TROUBLE. This is NOT ok to do. I didnt plan on opening the box..until who knows, i gave it to my daughter to wear on her special day and i would have found out that my veil wasnt inside. Im more upset about the terrible, worst, communication. You have lost my business. Customer service should be key. For them not to even open the box before they put it inside is so offputting. DO NOT GO HERE, unless you want to be lied to. read more
