I had dinner here and I was absolutely blown away by the pizza! We decided to try to we tried the margarita and I can't remember the name of the other, but it was pepperoni. Both were absolutely delicious. Was so kind and informative. He described all the different items on the menu and was extremely accommodating. The only thing I would say is a little negative is that besides having a very small footprint with very few tables they are also quite small. They sat five of us at a very small round table. Such a great experience! And well worth the hour drive my friends and I took to dine here. The place was packed and loud but it wasn't too off putting. Despite our reservation, it still took 35 minutes for us to be sat as they only have one 6-seater table. Our server was super friendly and even packed our leftovers for us, which was highly appreciated. Death By Pizza always blows my mind. Whenever I think of good pizza or have a pizza craving, I think of Death By Pizza. My friends' minds were blown and I can't wait for the next hour-long journey for pizza. I'm totally at all because I don't remember her name, but she's the gorgeous girl with the Marilyn Monroe tattoo on her arm. Such a phenomenal waitress and beyond attentive. The food was absolutely outstanding! We started off with the Korean barbecue wings which were to die for. The pizza was sensational. We got something called the easy E which had mushrooms and pepperonis perfectly cooked. We try to pasta which had short ribs on top. Absolutely scrumptious. For dessert we ended up with a brownie s'mores gelato galore. I have no idea what it was called, but I thought that's how you every single calorie was worth it! It took over the Sophia Pizzeria on the corner of State Rd 7 and Atlantic Ave. When I got there, there were people waiting outside and inside was packed. I called to place a take out order and was shocked when told they ran out of pizza dough. Amazing. So we ordered DBP Chicken Tenders for my wife , hand breaded 6 or 10 Tenders Tossed with Sauce or Naked with Sauce on Side. Choices for the sauce are Honey Buffalo ,Liquid Gold , Kobra Style (KBBQ), or Garlic Parm DBP Chicken Wings (10), for me , tossed or served naked with your choice of sauce same as the tenders. If you're thinking of going here you should definitely come when the open because they'll sell out of a lot of flavors quickly. I got there around 2 and they had maybe 2 specialty flavors and 2 regular flavors left. First pizza I got was a "Buffalo Bill" which was seasoned very well with a lot of cheese pull, I really enjoyed it. Next slice is "Mr.White" which is a person base pizza and at first it was super good but the more I ate it got super doughy and I got tired of the pesto. Still a good pizza though. Then the flavor of the month was a chicken teriyaki pizza which sounds amazing theoretically and it was very good it's just didn't have enough of the teriyaki flavor in my opinion. Was this a die for pizza experience? This review isn't based on my preference. It's based on the staff and the amount of people who showed up while I was there. Max and I arrived at around 4pm. There were a couple of tables that were occupied. By the time we left which was 5:30, tables were full and there was a line starting out the door. They take reservations on Open Table, but you need to leave a credit card number to reserve. The staff is exceptional. They must have known about the impending crowd because they were fully staffed. Max and I started with the Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls. They were good. My wine was expensive and there is no happy hour. If you go on a Monday, a bottle is half off. Now, for the pizza. It is good, but not worth the drive. What makes a Detroit pizza? The height of the outside crust and the crunch. This pizza crust tried, but it doesn't compare. WOW!!! Now THIS is some high quality absolutely amazing pizza. The crust was so crispy and browned and crunchy and just delicious. The specialties were absolutely wonderful, I got the buffalo chicken pizza that was so good! The onions are cut perfectly thin and the little chunks of celery really close the deal. There was the perfect amount of sauce and everything was cooked through just right. It tastes much better than regular chicken wing and just melts in your mouth. I am from the Midwest so it was really nice to have this taste of home. I got a side of the garlic Parm dipping sauce and it was nice and full and a very good size amount and it was so amazing! I'm usually a ranch girl, but this was really fun and different choice. It tastes a lot like a garlic aïoli to me. I also got a side of the pesto to see if I like it, but sadly it's not my favorite, I guess I can just make such a better version that it's hard to like it, but it's just too grassy and doesn't seem to have enough flavor. I don't think there's many pinenuts or Parmesan and it just feels just a lot like blended up basil. So I might skip anything that is very pesto forward. Death by Pizza only opened a few weeks ago in an nondescript plaza behind a gas station. However it has a lovely outside patio with standard and high top tables, industrial style lighting, and heaters for cooler nights. I heard that they are contemplating putting up a screened enclosure for more protection from the environment which would probably be a great idea. We sat outside but honestly, we were bombarded with those nasty biting gnats. Next time, we will be prepared with bug spray. The menu offers various pizzas, pasta dishes, starter appetizers, 3 types of salad, abd and a fried chicken Milanese entree. Beer and wine can be purchased but they allow you to BYOB with a $15 corking fee. It was worth it to bring our own wine because a glass of wine was $15. We ordered the ultimate salad with lots of Genoa salami and cheese in it. It was very delicious and filling. We chose the meatball and burrata cheese pizza also. This is a large square pizza. It was flavorful and yummy. Between the salad, and wine we had only eaten 3 slices and took 3/4 of the pie home. Paul had a cappuccino though and he was very satisfied. The venue opens for lunch 12-4 and closes for an hour. It reopens at 5 for dinner. They are on open table and at this time there is a $15/pp credit card reservation in case you do not show up. Service was excellent. Danielle was our very sweet waitress. Our food was brought out on a very timely basis and she made good recommendations based on my preferences. Also Mario- another waiter came over to chat with us. He has been with the Company from inception at their other establishment in East Delray. One of the best Detroit style pizzas in the area in my opinion. My favorite is the Roni Jabroni with the hot honey! Love the charred cup pepperonis. Vodka Roni is my second favorite. Was super excited when I found out death by pizza was opening a sit down restaurant. There is nothing like fresh pizza and pasta. The sourdough Detroit pie hits as always. It's nestled away in a shopping plaza off the beaten path in west Delray and people definitely know about it! Clean, industrial vibe with interesting artwork on the walls and an open kitchen. Started with the Buffalo honey chicken tenders which had good flavor and texture. Moved onto the Vodka Roni pizza replete with mini pepperoni cups and a nice vodka sauce -- so flavorful. Lots of really unique other pizzas was debating to try - but the vodka roni pizza got a lot of attention and recommendations from others. Finished off with the chocolate chip cookie with ice cream. I really wanted to love this place. I heard so many good things about death by pizza but unfortunately, when I visited and had my pizza, I was nothing short of underwhelmed. I got the vodka roni pizza and Philly egg rolls. The egg rolls were pretty great but the pizza, which was $32, was not very appetizing at all. Me and my husband barely finished one slice each. The cheese was just too much, the sauce tasted like there was no vodka in the cooking process at all, and lastly, there was way too much basil on the pizza. I didn't want to complain or cause a fuss so we just left after paying our check. The waitress we had was wonderful. Very sweet girl and did an excellent job serving us. Again, this negative review is because 1) the pizza was subpar at best and 2) it was way overpriced considering what we got. I'm sorry to leave this bad review but people should know. She was attentive and kind; however, she did have a lot going on and we had to wait a while to get refills on water or ask for extra napkins. Death by Pizza -- and honestly, what a way to go. These guys have expanded pretty fast, with 2 locations, both in Delray. We visited the West Delray full restaurant [15065 FL-7 BAY 400, Delray Beach, FL 33446] and the other, which is downtown is just a pick up window. This place absolutely wrecked me -- in the best way possible. Every bite was everything you want when dining out. We started with the Caesar salad, which was basically a cheese avalanche (no complaints) and the dressing delivered a delicious garlic flavor. The Fried Mozz was absolutely the best I've had in recent years. Then the pastas came out and had me questioning my loyalty to every Italian restaurant I've ever loved. Place is a definite winner - deservedly a 4.5 and a welcome addition to the limited amount of restaurants in West Delray. As a matter of fact they can compete with anywhere in South Florida with a consistent, high quality Detroit style pie, and what is my favorite Caesar Salad here (or anywhere in the US). Service too is excellent, and Jessica was outstanding last night so kudos to her and the restaurant. In any event being a burrata addict, we started with their torn burrata and tomatoes - which was very good, the little tomatoes great but the large tomatoes were soggy so not perfect and was not really enamored with their balsamic syrup, finding it not flavorful (and sweet enough). Of course had to have their caesar salad which as mentioned ranks as my favorite anywhere. Creamy dressing, the parmesan shavings are incredible, and for those that myself do not anchovy paste, completely nixes this so yes absolutely fantastic! Their Detroit style pie "The Enemy" with their sweet sauce and caramelized crust was excellent and addictive wanting to eat more than what I could. We finished off with their warm chocolate cookie and vanilla gelato that was good. Not being a lover of gelato - it was ok. In speaking to management on a prior visit they did tell me that their team have significant experience in higher end restaurants and were playing with adding some items even steak, but since our last visit they did add pastas and various chicken dishes which we are looking forward to trying. All in all great place and note that it is hard to get a reservation here so make sure that you plan ahead. Oh I'm so glad we did, Daniela our server was five stars no ten stars.
