One star but ZERO stars deserved. To start Customer service is a 0/10 the two ladies in the office who are clearly overworked, and will tell you that need to find a new profession. Was sent to them through our home warranty(read everyone's reviews they are true) terrible response time- should have been 24 hours however I had to schedule the initial visit they sent out a guy who seemed to learn HVAC off YouTube who said he "thinks" he fixed the leak in my AC system however didn't have refrigerant to charge the unit back up. Never came out to finish the job, started my claim on 5/20/22 decker claims there was no approval to finish the job, however my home warranty claimed all the approval they needed was there. Several back and forth games between them pointing fingers at each other- bottom line after hours of time spent on the phone I've had to resort to a new HVAC company and restart the process of getting my AC fixed. This company doesn't know what they are doing and their office staff are either incompetent or liars when it comes to finishing their jobs. They also said they didn't have the "time or money" to sit on the phone with my home warranty to get approval yet my home warranty company called them, emailed them, and left messages that it was approved and schedule us. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS TRASH COMPANY. I see the owner often replies to reviews, here's my suggestion instead of being so defensive start listening to the reviews and either get better or quit what you're doing. read more

Wish I could rate at 0. I was sent this company by my home warranty plan to repair my ac. The repairmen were here for a while, it seemed they weren't 100% sure about what was wrong, said maybe I had a leak, they asked if the unit was in the attic, checked for an opening in the garage, then finished doing what they were doing and that was that. About a week and a half later the ac stopped working in the exact same way. I called their "emergency number" on Friday, and spoke to a woman who said they'd come out on Monday between 1pm and 5pm. Needless to say, we spent a VERY hot uncomfortable weekend (including Father's Day) as it was well over 100 degrees. Well, this morning I get a call from a woman saying: "sorry, unfortunately we have to reschedule you". I had been perfectly understanding when they couldn't come until Monday, but this was enough. I told her there was no way we were waiting another day, that I have a 5 year old and pets that are having to suffer through this heat, and that this was their mistake so someone needed to come out today, she of course said no, I got angry and asked her how she would like to spend an hour in this heat and in the end I told her I wanted my money back, she said she didn't have to "take this abuse" and hung up on me despite the fact that I asked to speak with the manager several times (in the end she said no one was there). I called right back, and to my surprise John, the owner answered (but he wasn't there, remember?) I explained the situation to him, told him I would be going elsewhere and that I wanted my money back, he said, and I quote: "that ain't gone happen" and then like a child said "how do you even know it's the same problem?" I went to explain how I came to the obvious conclusion that it WAS the same problem, when he cut me off and said: "we don't have to take this abuse" and hung up on me, and by the way there was no "abuse" just an outraged customer. I've NEVER dealt with such an unprofessional, shady company EVER in my life. I was even thinking of having them build an awning in my back yard, guess I dodged a bullet. If you need your ac repaired, STAY AWAY from this place. My mom had a great company based in Turlock repair hers at a great price, and they were super nice and professional, I will be calling them, and will add their info in case anyone would like to contact them. UPDATE: My husband called only to be told that they (John Decker Construction) took it upon themselves to send out a work order to a company based in Pleasanton without speaking to us or getting authorization. I had a similar experience to Jack J in the "not recommended" reviews section. Called for a quote. I think we met at the site on a Saturday. Joe, the brother, came out. He was very nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. Supplied us with sample colors, and a verbal quote on the spot. We asked for a written quote via email and he related that wouldn't be a problem. Left the estimate looking forward to doing business with them. That was about a month ago. Since then, I have made 5-6 phone calls looking for the quote, my messages to Joe went unanswered. I called again, and the lady recognized me, she related she wasn't sure why I was not getting a return call, and she would have the owner, John call me. Never heard from him either. Terrible experience with John Decker Construction On September 28, 2015, I contacted with Joseph Decker for two awnings specifically to keep the rain away from two doors in the back yard. I was very clear about what I was expecting. He gave me a quote of $1875.00, I agreed. On November 5, his installers came out two hours late with the wrong material. They returned the next day and put up the awnings. The first time that it rained, however, it was clear that the awnings made the problem worse as the rain came pouring down between the slats. The small awning began pulling away from the wall almost immediately, as well. I called the office on November 11, leaving a message for Joseph to contact me. The secretary assured me that he would. I got no response. I tried again on November 24, again leaving a message for Joseph with the secretary. I got no response. I then wrote a letter citing my concerns and asking for help. On December 14, Joseph came out and left with a promise to "Not sweep this under the rug, but do something for me". They wanted to place cheap plastic panels on top of the awnings. I decided that would not be satisfactory. On December 30, I wrote letting them know that I had lost all confidence in their company and wanted the awnings removed from my property and a full refund. I advised the Contractor's License Board of California of the situation. They investigated and responded and while it was unfortunate, the fact that John Decker Construction had not violated the laws they could do nothing. I also contacted Channel 13's Call Curtis. I have been communicating with a very helpful woman named Luann who has expressed interest in the situation. To this date I have not hears from anyone at John Decker Construction. I have home warranty company, when my air went out they assigned the repair company, as it turns out, and I don't know how bill was decided but I paid more than warranty company. But what Decker Brothers did they lied to me about charges. I paid 100.00 diagnostic fee which I knew up front. I was having trouble with warranty company, I had a copay of 785.00 and couldn't get a itemized statement from them, so I got a copy of bill from Decker Brothers. Now remember I had already been told about the copay. Then when I got bill I found they were charging me another 70.00 diagnostic. I immediately called and spoke to the same person in the office questioning the additional charge, explaining I had already paid 100.00. She said they would deduct 100.00 off bill. Of course when repairs were completed they wanted 785.00, I told them they were supposed to take off 100.00 for what I already paid. They called the office and the same woman got on phone and said it was actually 885.00 so 100.00 was already taken off. No remember the original co pay was 785.00 so per the phone call the day before she didn't even know I had paid the 100.00 the week before. I checked my bank account a couple of hours later, the 100.00 came out of my account along with the 785.00. The 100.00 had been paid on my bank card the week before, but went out today along with today's payment. In checking their statement closely I found an annotation at bottom of bill, they will charge you 350.00 if they have to use their own ladder to access the roof. Nice company! read more

After being given the runaround by my home warranty company for several weeks, Decker Bros. called me within hours of receiving approval to replace my a/c compressor. Unfortunately the next available appointment was 6 days away; however, a time slot opened up much sooner and the wonderful office staff was able to squeeze me in 5 days early. Levi and Ron came out to perform the service. They were hardworking, wonderfully polite and, before leaving, checked my air filter as well as confirmed all vents were blowing cool air properly (perhaps that's standard, but I wasn't expecting it). By the time they left, my 90 degree home was cooling down for the first time in 3 weeks! read more

These guys are honest. I have a rental house, the tenants heater wouldn't come on so on her own she called another heating and air company to take a look at it. They told her that the unit was bad and needed to be replaced. After she called me, I started making phone calls. I called Decker Brothers, they came out the next day, it was a part that needed to be replaced not the entire unit. Buyer beware. These guys have no intentions of completing your patio by the agreed date. Read Google reviews on these guys. This is there regular practice during the summer. Promise a date then the receptionist strings you along past the due date with " it's an approximate date". It's been a week since the promised due date by the salesman and they don't call you back as promised. They won't even schedule a date and is a week past due! New AC system was installed August 2016 which cost more than $4300. and stop working on June 2017. After AC guy checking the system, I was told need to pay another $900 for labor to install new parts instead of defective parts from manufactory which they ordered for me last year. Had them out to get a quote on a custom covered patio. Saw their work at a neighbors house and was impressed. Well that impression stops right there. Was told I would have a quote by the following Monday and this was a Friday. Didn't hear from them on Friday. Called on Wednesday and was told the following week. That came and went. Called a couple of weeks later. We'll have to get back to you. Called several more times and got the same. Sorry we will get back to you with a quote. This is what is has been like all summer long. Starting in May of 2015. Called last week. They remember me but can find the paper work. Will have to get back with me when they find it. I just don't get it. Terrible service! John gave us a quote and agreed to do our project for just under $10,000. I explained to him the the date was important because we were having a backyard event so we agreed to the first week in June, he wrote it on the contract, and we paid the nearly $1,000 deposit. Days before he was to start the work I called to see what time they would be arriving. The lady that answered the phone acted surprised and said someone was suppose to call us. She apologized and said they were three weeks to a month out that they had overbooked. I was upset of course so she said she would have the owner call me. After a few days no one called so I called and asked again if they could reschedule someone else I was told they could not so I asked for my deposit back. The manager told me not only would I not get my deposit back but that I actually owed them money for cancelling!! I didn't cancel, they cancelled me! She said that I need to read the bottom of the contract that says that they can take as long as they want to do the job or they can keep my deposit! What about the owners commitments to meet my time line?? She really didn't care! They have my money and I think that's all that mattered. There are plenty of good people to do business with who will keep their word. read more
