A little disappointed. My boyfriend and I ordered for the first time tonight and got a four cheese pizza. We couldn't even finish a slice - the cheese was so heavy and I LOVE a lot of cheese, and anytime a four cheese pizza is offered, I'm all about it. I ordered half pepperoni and the employee on the phone told me that sauce does not come on the four cheese pizza, so I asked if they could put sauce on it. I didn't literally mean "on top" of it (we got a COB pizza) I also didn't tell them to only put sauce on the cheese only side - there was no sauce on the pepperoni half. All in all, I can see the potential of this place, the crust was fluffy but crispy on bottom. I'll probably order again but only with a regular cheese pizza. I'll steer clear of the four cheese. read more

Placed my order from the train as I pulled out of Hudson, NY and b-lined it to DeFazio's a couple Thursdays ago. And while it was way out of the way from where I live, it was well-worth it. A tad bit pricey, but definitely worth every penny. Things I loved: - They weren't afraid to crank the heat on the Puttanesca - They were out of feta for the Greek salads, but they waited until I arrived to find out what I wanted to substitute it with. I feel like most places would've just schlepped something else on (if that) and called it a day. - Much more filling than you think - and tasted oh so good the next day from the fridge Now, I will say I was slightly disappointed (only slightly) by the wood-fired aspect of it. I've had some pretty top-notch wood-fired pizza, so I was expecting something slightly different. But this place outperformed in so many other ways that I easily looked past that. I'll definitely make the trip back to Troy and would love to try some of their other pasta dishes. I'm sure they're amazing. read more

Hands down, the best pizza I've ever tasted. My favorite is the spinach and mushroom with kalamata olives - but they're all good. Ingredients are extremely high quality. It's one of my top five places for dinner in the capital region. Dinners are delicious!! How could you go wrong with homemade pasta? Cajun Chicken Pasta with broccoli added is amazing. The tastiest Cajun cream sauce with just enough of a kick! With only 5 small tables to dine at, be sure to go during the week for less of a crowd, or just call to reserve a table on the weekend. And don't forget to bring your favorite bottle of wine to complement your dinner! Friendly staff and large portions make for an even better experience. Hi to All, I must tell you my background and how I come to find DeFazio's. My wife and recently moved here from NYC. Being in the city for 30yrs plus, the hardest part of our move was finding food that would come close to our liking. I have owned a few Italian restaurants during my years. I know a good sauce and quality ingredients. After searching online to find a what I call a Mom and Pop place to find comfort and taste, appeared DeFazio's!! I called in for 2 pizza's and was anxious to arrive. I plugged into my GPS the address and off I went to pick up. Upon arrival I walked into the specialty store first not knowing I was not in the pizza shop. Rocco (later to find out) standing at the counter grinding a wheel of Parmesan. We began to chat and exchange our lives in the business. He sent me next store and talk to Tony. I assured after I picked up the pizza I would be back for some fresh cheese and noticed ravioli to take home. I returned a few moments and did just so. Now my take on my experience with the 2 pizza's, I have to say the freshness and balance of flavor throughout was a palette of pleasure. I felt as if this was created just for me and my family. This place has to sound forth, I don't know how busy they are or how many know about it. I feel I needed to start here to let others know to stop all other pizza shops and step back in time to where pizza must have begun and continues from the old world of Italy. Yes I have been there as well and sampled many a pizza as well. Have you ever had a pizza with a shirred egg in the middle of it? I'm planning to ask Tony if he would do that for me. What can I say.... I had some high hopes for my first pizza from this place and the reviews posted here are far too positive. Maybe people are used to accepting mediocre pizza and praising it, but I cannot in good faith give a review for disappointing food. The restaurant specifically advertises that they make their own sausage and I found it bland at best. The tomato sauce reminds me of tomato paste without seasoning, and the green peppers were so crunchy they hardly saw any time in the oven. After all that, I arrive to pick up the pizza only to find out that they only accept cash. I won't be making a return visit. read more

We tried to stop here on a Sunday driving from NJ to Okemo, they are not open Sundays. We drove back the following Saturday and we were very pleased with the service and food. We had a sausage and mushroom pizza with fresh mozzarella and basil. It was quite delicious. My son had the fettuccine alfredo made with homemade pasta. We all thought it was very tasty. Their cannoli was one of the best I have ever had. The shell is not made in-house, but the filling was said to be grandma's recipe. I was impressed with the gluten-free, organic multi-grain and whole wheat crust choices. This will be our go-to place when we are in the Troy area. As others said it is cash only...in my opinion, this is not a reason to give it a lower rating. The place is small, but seems very authentic Italian. read more

We order from DeFazio's often, the best pizza I have had since moving back to the Capital District. You couldn't ask for nicer people, great service and great food. Love the hot & cold subs and the different choices for crust and toppings. We know delivery is 45 min to an hour and plan accordingly. we miss defazio's! true, the atmosphere isn't much, but after discovering defazio's chicken fra diavolo, we were addicted. for years it was our regular pizza fix. we had to move away from the area in 2000, and have since lived in other parts of new york and in four other states. but we still talk about defazio's! it's the best pizza we've had and we've tried dozens of other places. just know how lucky you are if you live near by... some day we'll come back to the area for a visit and defazio's will be our first stop. read more
