Unfortunately I have to give DeHart Roofing a very low rating. I chose them a year ago over another roofer, who was less expensive, because their representative Bill, was so good at explaining the job. The roof definitely looks nice, so I overlooked that they delayed the starting date at the last minute, wouldn't repaint any outside damaged or repaired wood, installed one skylight poorly, breaking inside drywall which they would not repair (400. to repair and trim). I have also overlooked the many roofing nails and old materials I have found around the property since. WHAT I CANNOT IGNORE IS THE LIVE WIRE LEFT IN DUSTY INSULATION MATERIALS IN MY ATTIC. Yesterday (8/30) a contractor installing an attic fan found it a full year after the roofing job. It had been powering an old house fan. When DeHart asked to remove the fan, I had no idea they would just cut the wire and leave it. INCREDIBLY NEGLIGENT, DANGEROUS, AND ABSOLUTELY INEXCUSABLE!!! We called for an estimate for a new roof that was over 30 years old. they came out and gave us a price and we accepted. They were very busy because it was late Spring, but scheduled us 4 weeks later. They had a wonderful crew that showed up and did wonderful work. This is the classiest business I have ever dealt with. They brought their own portapotty and cleaned up every day. We had Dehart at out house to estimate for repair to our patio roof from damage caused by a fallen tree limb. (I already knew we were overdue for a complete new roof.) Keven, showed up on time and inspected the damage. Then he gave us a quote for repairing the patio damage and re-roofing the whole house. Liking his numbers we signed on. With rains every few days we wondered when the work would be done. Then on a good weather day they showed up with what looked like an army of workers. They removed the old roofing and had the new roofing in place on just one day! They came back another day to install solar attic vents which we promptly noticed are effective at keeping the house cooler on warm & hot days. Lastly they replaced the broken wood on our home's patio cover. We got good value for the money and are quite happy with the outcome. read more

What's going to happen when they give me a start date? Anyways got a call back the next day Sunday 8am. UPDATE: July 2017: Last month we finally got the solar installed by the owner's son and a few other employees. (Who were awesome, by the way!) A few hours after posting this review, we received a call from the owner who not only didn't apologize for lack of customer service, but also asked my husband to ask me to remove this review. I run my own business as well and use any criticism to reflect on me as a person as well as my practices. ORIGINAL POST: Terrible customer service! Purchased a new roof in December from them along with solar for our rental. We also decided to do solar on our primary house and we paid for all of it together. We said we would not need the solar on our house for a few months so no need to worry about it now. When it came time to wanting them to install the solar, keep in mind that its already paid for, no one would answer their phone; we've been calling him since March and still no word from the company or the owner! I would not recommend this company solely based on their lack of following through. I called for an estimate for a new complete roof. The owner asked me what I needed. As if I know how to respond. I told him what type of material I was thinking of. The owner proceeded to tell me about some options to what I wanted and proceeded to tell me that his business was voted #1 by a company and I should take a look at the website. Finally, he told me he didn't need to come out to the house and take measurements because he was going to use gps Google and make an estimate from that. Im not a roofer but wouldnt it be useful to see the actual condition of the roof for possible dry rot etc. He said he would have that estimate by the next day. Three days later and no estimate, I'm still sitting here. As a business if you tell a potential customer your going to do something, then do it. Obviously, this proves that your company is unreliable and shows me of what may have been if we actually hired you. Fortunately for us, we have opted for a more responsible company. We just completed our Roof with De Hart Roofing. We dealt with Otis from start to finish of this project and we have nothing but praise with De Hart Roofing. The project was quite big and it was handled very professionally. They showed up with 7 employees to do the tear down and completed it it in the first day. It was extremely hot during this time but the employees ( keep their cool and continued there work). We have never had this kind work done before but this was done very professionally. The customer service needs a lot of work. This is the second time I've call for the same thing- a correct invoice. When I explained what I was calling about the gal that answered the phone was not the least bit polite, her tone was short/curt and argumentative. I tried to explain the invoice was different than the actual work completed she argued with me. It went down hill from there. I hired DeHart to repair my tile roof. He did not oversee his crew. They did not repair all noted leaks, used the wrong sized lumber on the eaves, left gaps and set tiles unevenly. The crew broke tiles and left them that way on the roof in addition to taking my personal lumber from my yard with no offer of compensation. The few tiles they provided don't even match the rest of the tiles by a long shot. The crew threw tiles from the top of my two-story house to the ground leaving them impaled in the grass. Someone could have been seriously hurt. Their supplies even landed in the next-door neighbor's yard! I saw no professionalism in their work. read more

Here is a message that i have attempted to send to Mr Dehart. Not sure if he will get it or if he will care either! Please read below: This message is for Mr. Dehart; Your wife is not very understanding when it comes to roofing homes with zero property lines. When I went out to my back yard this morning there was debri all over my patio furniture. Luckily no glass was broken because there was a table that was knocked over that had a glass item on it and it was resting against the wall waiting to fall onto the cement. I have pets and I would have hated to have them stepping in glass. Also, the cover of my hot tub had old roofing material all over it ( they could have covered that up with a plastic tarp, but they did not!). I called and very nicely tried to suggest that the neighbor should be notified that there will be falling debri in their yard! That way they can have an opportunity to move their items that may be in danger of getting damaged! Well... Before I could even finish explaining myself she interrupted me and said it was not her problem. That they do not go around knocking on people's doors to tell them they are roofing the neighbors property when there are zero property lines. Then in the next breath she tells me that the guys will clean it up later... Mr. Dehart, can you please tell me how they are supposed to get into my back yard without my permission to clean it up? Wouldn't they have to knock on my door for that? I bet if it was her patio furniture getting debri all over it, it would be a different story!!! She was very unprofessional and all she could say was that she did not want to argue with me. I was trying to make my point! She was so rude and never did offer to have the workers come over and move my stuff out of the way to finish the part of the roof that was not torn off yet. Thankfully your team that you have out here was much nicer than your wife and came and moved my furniture before they tore off the rest of the roof. Hopefully you will get this message because she should not be answering your phones with an attitude like that!
